A Russian mogul who once called sex-trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell his “soulmate” was found dead in a luxury Moscow apartment Monday, according to reports — just weeks after his name surfaced in the Epstein files.

Umar Dzhabrailov, a Chechen businessman and former senator, was discovered lying in a pool of blood with a gunshot wound to his head at about 3 a.m., Russian outlet Kommersant reported, citing police sources who called it a suspected suicide.

Police discovered a Luger pistol lying by the 67-year-old’s body. But Dzhabrailov — who previously tried to take his life in 2020 — didn’t leave a suicide note, the sources said.

UAE intercepts 9 Iranian ballistic missiles, 6 cruise missiles, ministry says

The United Arab Emirates said its air defenses intercepted nine Iranian ballistic missiles, six cruise missiles and 148 drones on Monday.

“Since the beginning of the Iranian attack, 174 ballistic missiles launched toward the country have been detected, of which 161 were destroyed while 13 fell into the sea,” the UAE Ministry of Defence said in a statement.

“A total of 689 Iranian drones were also detected, with 645 intercepted and 44 landing within the country’s territory,” it added. “Additionally, 8 cruise missiles were detected and destroyed, causing some collateral damage.”

The ministry said the incidents resulted in three fatalities and 68 minor injuries.

Ukraine offers expertise to counter Iran drones if truce with Russia reached

Ukraine could send drone specialists to the Middle East and share its expertise in countering Iranian-made drones if its partners help broker a ceasefire in its war with Russia, Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha told Reuters on Monday.

Sybiha said Ukraine’s success rate in intercepting Iranian-designed Shahed drones had reached up to 90%, aided in part by the use of domestically produced interceptor drones.

“We won't be able to send all of our operators, but we can certainly send some of them if the absence of Russian strikes against our country is guaranteed,” he said.

Russia's Key Novorossiysk Export Hub Again Pounded In Large Ukrainian Drone Wave

Iran is understandably dominating global headlines, but major events are still happening in oh yeah that other war which has been raging for four plus years in eastern Europe.

Like with the Iran conflict theatre, major geopolitical repercussions impacting energy oil prices are coming out of the Ukraine war. An overnight Monday large-scale drone wave from Ukraine has severely damaged Russia's Black Sea port of Novorossiysk.

Ukraine's General Staff has described that the facility supplies Russian forces engaged in the war, after reports have indicated the intended target was the Sheskharis oil terminal, one of southern Russia's largest oil and petroleum transshipment hubs.

A large fire was observed in the wake of the attack on the key oil export site. But civilian neighborhoods were also damaged in the assault, with debris from intercepted drones reportedly hitting multiple residential structures in the city, resulting in several hospitalizations of residents.

The attack was significant enough to force air travel delays and cancelations over much of southern Russia, including international routes to Istanbul. Routes to Tel Aviv and the Gulf have already been disrupted due to Trump's 'Operation Epic Fury' targeting Iran.

As for this latest drone attack among many targeting Russian oil sites of late, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has owned up to it, saying, "together with other components of the Defense Forces, struck Russian warships, air defense systems, and oil infrastructure in the port of Novorossiysk."

According to more details via Reuters:

Russia said on Monday that five people had been injured, 20 buildings damaged, and a fire at a fuel terminal extinguished after what it said was a massive overnight Ukrainian drone attack on the Black Sea port city of Novorossiysk.

An official at Ukraine's SBU security service said Ukrainian drones had struck the Sheskharis oil terminal at the port, hitting six of its seven loading facilities, and that Russian warships had also been hit. Ukraine's General Staff said a naval base had also been struck, along with an S-400 air defense radar station.

Spain says US has not used and will not use bases on its soil to strike Iran

Spain’s government on Monday said the US has neither used nor will use Spanish military bases to conduct attacks against Iran, insisting Madrid maintains full control over its sovereign facilities, Anadolureports.

According to Spanish news outlet El Diario, Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares said in a television interview that the bases at Rota and Moron de la Frontera “are not being used” for operations linked to the Middle East conflict and that Spain will not authorize any such deployment.

“The bases of Spanish sovereignty will not be used for anything that is not within the agreement with the United States or for anything that does not fit within the charter of the United Nations,”he said.
