Former Harford County Sheriff’s Office Detective Sentenced to 36 Years for Sexually Exploiting Two Children

Baltimore, Maryland – A former Harford County Sheriff’s Office detective learned his fate in federal court today, in connection with child sex exploitation crimes.

U.S. District Judge Brendan A. Hurson sentenced Ryan Christopher Hall, 51, of Woodstock, Maryland, to 36 years in prison, followed by lifetime supervised release, for the sexual exploitation of a child and possession of child sexual abuse material. Hall, who pled guilty to these charges in December 2025, must also register as a sex offender for life.

Kelly O. Hayes, U.S. Attorney for the District of Maryland, announced the sentence with Christopher R. Heck, Special Agent in Charge of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) – Maryland; Carroll County State’s Attorney Haven N. Shoemaker, Jr.; Sheriff James T. DeWees, Carroll County Sheriff’s Office; and Sheriff Jeff Gahler, Harford County Sheriff’s Office.

According to court documents, before May 2017, Hall, who served as a detective for almost 30 years, sexually abused two minor children for at least three years. By May 2017, and through October 2024, Hall sexually exploited the two minor children by capturing explicit images and videos of them by using a surreptitious camera that he installed. Hall is facing related charges for child sexual abuse in the Carroll County Circuit Court.

This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative, launched in May 2006, by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. Led by the United States Attorney’s Offices and the Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who sexually exploit children, and to identify and rescue victims. Foreign National Sentenced to 20 Years in Prison for Conspiring to Traffic Nuclear Materials, Narcotics, and Firearms

Today, Takeshi Ebisawa, a Japanese national, was sentenced to 20 years in prison for his participation in a conspiracy to traffic nuclear materials, including uranium and weapons-grade plutonium, from Burma to other countries, as well as his participation in international narcotics trafficking, weapons, and money laundering crimes. Ebisawa previously pleaded guilty to six counts for those offenses before U.S. District Judge Colleen McMahon for the Southern District of New York.

“National security and public safety are the very tenets of DEA’s mission, and this case demonstrates our ability to dismantle the world’s most dangerous criminal networks,” said Administrator Terrance Cole of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. “Today’s sentence should send a clear message: threatening the United States by trafficking nuclear materials, narcotics, and military-grade weapons will trigger an uncompromising response. DEA will hold conspirators accountable—no matter the distance, no matter their allegiance.”

“Thanks to the exceptional work of the DEA and our DOJ prosecutors, Takeshi Ebisawa has been held accountable for his crimes, including an attempt to sell weapons-grade plutonium to Iran and to flood New York with deadly narcotics,” said Assistant Attorney General for National Security John A. Eisenberg. “The National Security Division will continue to work with our law enforcement partners to identify and dismantle criminal networks that seek to profit from the illicit trade in deadly weapons and substances.”

“The illicit trafficking of nuclear materials is an existential threat to every New Yorker and every American,” said U.S. Attorney Jay Clayton for the Southern District of New York. “Takeshi Ebisawa tried to sell uranium, thorium, and plutonium to fuel a purported nuclear weapons program, along with deadly drugs destined for U.S. streets. This case is a testament to the extraordinary efforts of our law enforcement partners, who worked across three continents to stop Ebisawa and bring him to justice in the United States.”

Byrd Gang Leader Sentenced to 360 Months for Rico Conspiracy, Heroin, Fentanyl Distribution Conspiracy, and Firearms Possession Conspiracy

NEW ORLEANS – TIM JACKSON, a/k/a T-Maf,” “Maf,” 37 years old and of New Orleans, was sentenced on February 25, 2026, by United States District Judge Jane Triche Milazzo for a RICO conspiracy, drug trafficking conspiracy, and firearms conspiracy. As part of a plea agreement, JACKSON was sentenced to 360 months imprisonment, 5 years of supervised release, and a $300.00 mandatory special assessment fee, announced U.S. Attorney David I. Courcelle.

After four days of a trial against him, JACKSON pled guilty to a 30-year sentence to avoid a possible life sentence if convicted. JACKSON’s co-defendants, Terran Williams, Tyrone Bovia and Javonta Doleman, went to trial in the Spring of 2025, and all three were found guilty of various charges, including two counts of Violent Crime in Aid of Racketeering (Murder), for which each faces a mandatory life sentence.

JACKSON was a leader of the Byrd Gang, also known as M3RE, MagFischer, 315 and Piff Gang, which operated primarily out of the former Magnolia Housing Development, but also had ties to the Westbank. Daily, its members distributed drugs such as heroin, fentanyl, crack cocaine and marijuana, and always possessed a multitude of firearms. JACKSON participated in numerous drug trafficking activities and violent crimes for the Byrd Gang.

Britain’s Armed Forces ‘can’t defend Middle East bases from Iranian missiles’ – with crucial warships and submarines out of action

France is sending warships and anti-air attack systems to Cyprus amid deepening questions about Britain’s ability to defend its own bases from Iranian attacks.

Emmanuel Macron has ordered units including two frigates to the eastern Mediterranean after RAF Akrotiri was struck by a drone which pierced its air defences on Sunday night.

They will supplement forces already in the region and the Charles de Gaulle aircraft carrier strike group, which has been ordered to deploy to the area from the Baltic Sea.

The Cyprus Mail said president Nikos Christodoulides appealed to both Macron and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz to send naval vessels to help protect the island.

The damage to Akrotiri was said to be ‘minimal’ and there were no casualties, officials said, but the very fact that Tehran was able to hit the base has highlighted potential gaps in depleted UK forces’ ability to defend it.

Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper yesterday said additional defensive capabilities had recently been moved to bases in Cyprus, including radar systems, counter-drone systems, F-35 jets, and ground-based air defence.

But the UK’s larger air defence assets, the Royal Navy’s Type 45 destroyers, are currently mostly tied up in Portsmouth, leaving the UK to rely on its allies for help.

Ministers are said to be considering whether to send one of them, HMS Duncan, to the region, although no final decision has yet been taken.

Today a light aircraft previously used by the RAF to fly surveillance missions over Gaza was shown on radar tracking to circle Akrotiri during a nine-minute flight.

It comes as Sir Keir faces criticism over his uber-cautious stance towards the US/Israeli attacks on Iran. President Trump said the French were being more helpful.

Spanish left-wing politician Irene Montero has called for the removal of US military bases from the country in response to US President Donald Trump’s threat to cut trade with Spain.

“If Trump sows terror, let’s turn Spain into a refuge,” Montero, a member of the European Parliament from the Podemos party, wrote on X. She added that Spain should quit NATO.

Trump labelled Spain a “terrible” country after it refused to allow the US to use bases on its territory for missions linked to strikes in Iran.

Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar urged foreign countries to cut ties with Iran.

“I made it clear that Israel is not willing to live under a threat of elimination, just as no other country would be willing to do so,” Saar wrote on X on Tuesday following a virtual briefing with around 60 ambassadors stationed in Israel.

North Carolina elections director Sam Hayes said today that early voting in the state's primary is up about 25% compared with the 2022 midterm election primary.

GOP congressman's twin brother wins primary to replace him Trever Nehls, the identical twin brother of Republican Rep. Troy Nehls, won the Texas Houseprimary to replace him in the 22nd Congressional District, NBC News projected.

The victory makes Nehls the favorite to win the GOP-leaning seat this fall. He has visited Capitol Hill in recent months, turning heads among colleagues and reporters who thought they were seeing double.

His brother, Troy Nehls, is one of the most effusive Trump supporters on Capitol Hill, having recently worn a tie with Trump’s face on it to the State of the Union address. Trump endorsed Trever Nehls after his brother decided he would retire after this session.

Dallas police arrested a man outside Paxton's campaign headquarters tonight after they got calls about a "suspicious individual" in the area, the police department said in a statement.==

Police said the person entered a vehicle that did not display a proper license plate and left the area. Officers then arrested the suspect for traffic violations and found ammunition inside the vehicle, they said.

NBC News saw several Dallas police cars gathered right outside the campaign headquarters before they drove off. Shortly afterward, officers were seen towing a blue car from the scene.

Several eyewitnesses told NBC News they saw Dallas police officers speak to a man for several minutes before they cuffed him and removed him from the scene in a police car. Police said the suspect was taken to police headquarters for further investigation.
