Florida adults who received Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine were more likely to die following vaccination than Moderna COVID-19 recipients, according to a new preprint study that was co-authored by Florida’s top health official.

Dr. Joseph Ladapo, Florida’s surgeon general, and other researchers identified nearly 9.2 million Florida adults not living in institutions who received at least two doses of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine less than six weeks apart between Dec. 18, 2020, and Aug. 31, 2021.

They narrowed the group to nearly 1.5 million, half who received Pfizer’s vaccine and half who received Moderna’s vaccine, by matching them based on criteria such as age and sex. They then analyzed the records to see which group had the higher risk for all-cause mortality, or death from any cause, in the 12 months following vaccination.

That analysis found that more Pfizer recipients died, with 847 deaths per 100,000 recipients, compared to 618 deaths per 100,000 for Moderna recipients. Pfizer recipients were also more likely to suffer heart-related deaths and COVID-19 deaths.

Pfizer and Moderna did not respond to requests for comment.

The study was published as a preprint, which means it has not been peer reviewed, on the medRxiv server on April 29.

“Did your doctor tell you that you might be more likely to die if you took Pfizer instead of Moderna? That’s what we found in Florida, and other studies have shown similar results,” Ladapo wrote on social media platform X.

On Saturday night, about 6:55 p,m., a man drove a stolen backhoe into the parking lot of the Bonnyville RCMP.

And then his "fun" was just beginning.

"The suspect dumped several boulders in front of the prisoner bay and then proceeded to damage five police vehicles, which were parked in the lot, said Cpl. Gina Slaney.

The suspect then fled on foot.

"Bonnyville RCMP, Police Dog Services and RPAS (drone), searched for the suspect and he was quickly located in a tree line just north west of the detachment.," said Slaney.

"He was arrested and is currently in custody pending a Judicial

Interim Release Hearing."

The suspect cannot be named at this point as the charges have not been sworn before the courts.

Blacklock's Reporter says the public utility initially demanded $541,415 for time spent reviewing and censoring documents, an amount the adjudicator called excessive and unsupported.

“The estimated preparation fee is excessive and not reasonable,” wrote Adjudicator Diane Smith in her ruling, concluding that Hydro Ottawa provided “insufficient evidence” to justify its charges.

The ruling followed a request by Blacklock’s Reporter for internal records concerning the hiring of replacement workers during an 83-day strike by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 636.

Bloomberg reports, that Marcel Ciolacu informed coalition partners of the decision to submit his resignation in a meeting Monday in Bucharest, according to people familiar with the decision who spoke on condition of anonymity. The government will be led by an interim premier until coalition parties choose Ciolacu’s successor. There are no current plans for an early election.

The prime minister’s decision was a response to the electoral defeat of the coalition’s preferred candidate in Sunday’s first-round contest, in which George Simion of the ultranationalist Alliance for the Union of Romanians secured more than 40%.

Despite long-standing international perceptions of Alberta’s oil sands as a sprawling industrial wasteland visible from space, new research reveals the vast majority of the region remains in good health — ecologically speaking.

According to a new report from the Alberta Biodiversity Monitoring Institute (ABMI), just 2.6% of Alberta’s oil sands region was directly affected by energy development as of 2021 even though the oil sands cover about 142,000 square kilometres of boreal forest — an area nearly the size of Montana.

“There’s a mistaken perception that the oil sands region is one big strip mine, and that’s simply not the case,” said David Roberts, director of the ABMI’s science centre told the Canadian Energy Centre. “The energy footprint is tiny in the total area once you zoom out to the boreal forest surrounding this development.”

The ABMI is an independent scientific agency responsible for monitoring environmental health in Alberta’s oil sands using a rigorous, data-driven approach rooted in globally accepted scientific standards.

Its newly released Status of Land Cover and Biodiversity in the Oil Sands Region report is one of the most detailed assessments to date of how land use is affecting biodiversity in the area.

The findings stand in sharp contrast to previous claims from environmental groups such as Greenpeace, which once stated that oil sands operations had disturbed an area the size of the United Kingdom or the state of Florida.

Lion Electric will very likely be liquidated following the Quebec government’s refusal to invest more public funds in the company, says the court-appointed monitor for the electric-vehicle maker.

Jean-François Nadon, a restructuring specialist with Deloitte, said in a Superior Court hearing on Monday that government aid would have been a condition of any sale of the struggling company.

With that possibility off the table, he said, it’s unlikely any buyer will step forward with a plan to relaunch the St-Jérôme, Que.-based manufacturer, which sought protection from its creditors in December.

“The likelihood of a liquidation of assets is very high,” he said.

Nadon said the government’s recent announcement that it would not inject any more public money into Lion Electric was a “shock wave” for the company.
