We live in a world where AI is already widely used in a variety of weapons systems by a number of countries.

Drones and UAVs are a perfect example, with AI selecting and engaging targets without human intervention, as well as Loitering Munitions (kamikaze drones) identifying and engaging targets. In development are also ‘swarming technologies’, in which multiple AI-controlled drones operate in coordination.

But there’s much more: Missile Defense Systems use AI for automatic detection and engagement of incoming missiles or aircraft; AI-Enabled Targeting Systems that identify targets in conflict zones; autonomous Naval Systems (unmanned ships), and even DARPA’s Air Combat Evolution (ACE) Program in which AI can pilot an actual F-16 in flight.

On top of it all, there are AI-enhanced logistics and Decision Support optimizing resource allocation and tactical decisions.

So, it would make no sense, really, for a top-tier player in the AI landscape, like Google, to be opting to remain out of this ongoing revolution in weapons and surveillance systems.

Billionaire philanthropist George Soros, through his network of organizations, received a staggering $260 million from the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).

USAID has been accused of funneling funds to entities connected with Soros’ Open Society Foundations, which are known for advocating for radical and regime changes globally.

The narrative around this funding has been traced back through several documents and reports.

In 2018, Judicial Watch, a conservative watchdog group, filed a lawsuit against the State Department and USAID, seeking records on funding to Soros’s organizations in Albania.

On March 14, 2017, Judicial Watch sent a letter to Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and six Senators calling “on the secretary to investigate the relations between USAID and the Soros Foundations and how U.S. tax dollars are being used by the State Department and the USAID to support left-of-center political groups who seek to impose left-leaning policies in countries such as Macedonia and Albania”, the senators wrote.

In the same year, The Heritage Foundation claimed that during the Obama administration, USAID partnered with Soros-funded groups to promote policies that were controversial even within the U.S., without clear alignment to national security interests.

These claims have been echoed in more recent times, with allegations that USAID funding under the Biden administration continued to flow towards causes aligned with Soros’ vision, such as diversity, equity, and inclusion programs abroad.

About 10 years ago, Louis Sola’s family maritime business was given a concession to build a marina and cruise port on Amador, a causeway located at the Pacific entrance to the Panama Canal.

“This would have been the very first cruise port in the Pacific,” Sola, who now serves as the U.S. Federal Maritime Commission chairman, said.

Everything changed in 2017 when Panama signed on with the Chinese regime’s Belt and Road Initiative. The initiative required the Panamanian government to recognize Taiwan as part of China—much to the surprise and concern of the United States, which has positioned itself as an ally of Taiwan.

Panama then rescinded the concession on the land where the Sola family had planned to spend $30 million on a cruise port.

Instead, Panama nationalized the project, gave a concession to a Chinese company, and paid it $300 million to build the cruise port.

Additionally, the land that would have been used to build a marina was designated as an embassy of the People’s Republic of China.

Eventually, the Solas got the land back, and U.S. and domestic pressure ended the Chinese regime’s plans of building an embassy at Amador.

In the most recent blow to China, Panama’s president announced on Feb. 2 that it will not renew its Belt and Road agreement with the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)—a significant win for President Donald Trump’s pressure campaign.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau speaking at a Black History Month reception in Ottawa this week bragged he can be “ruthless” about doing as he pleases in his last days in office.

Trudeau on January 6 announced his “intention to resign” as prime minister. However, he refused to call an election to let Canadians decide their next leader.

Instead, he prorogued Parliament for nearly three months to give the Liberal party time to scramble to organize a leadership race. The winner of that contest, which will be held March 9, will become Canada’s de facto prime minister — even if an unelected Liberal wins, like Mark Carney.

Meanwhile, Parliament remains prorogued until March 24.

Trudeau appearing alongside Diversity Minister Kamal Khera at a reception for black Canadians said he believes “anti-black” racism is still a problem in Canada, as is cognitive bias against black people.

Canada has played a role in discrimination against its black community, and has a responsibility to “right wrongs,” said Trudeau.

“Of course, as we all know, there’s so much work that needs to be done,” he said, referring to his government’s co-sponsoring of the UN Second International Decade for People of African Descent.

The program, put forward in former Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland’s 2024 Fall Economic Statement, of which she abruptly resigned the same day and it was never voted on on Parliament, costs more than $312 million.

“I have to admit my friends, I’m a little bit emotional tonight,” Trudeau told the crowd.

“One of the things that comes with knowing you are on a countdown clock until your last day, means you get to be really ruthless about the things you want to do and don’t want to do.”

“And let me tell you, if I am here tonight with you all, it’s because man-oh-man did I want to see you guys to celebrate one last Black History Month as prime minister.”

A commander of a patrol frigate in the Royal Canadian Navy has been relieved of his duty mid-deployment due to what the navy calls a "loss of confidence."

A statement from the navy says the reasons for removing Cmdr. Adriano Lozer from command of the HMCS Ottawa "do not concern any form of misconduct."

The navy says the move was necessary "to ensure effective leadership" of the frigate with a crew of approximately 240 members as it continues its deployment in the Indo-Pacific region.

A statement from last October, when the ship left its home port in Esquimalt, B.C., on Operation Horizon said that mission's goal was to "promote peace, stability, and the rules-based international order" in the region.

The statement says Cmdr. Landon Creasy will assume responsibility of the ship until it returns to B.C. in late March.

It says when Lozer gets back to Canada he will serve in other roles within Maritime Forces Pacific and "procedural fairness will continue to be respected throughout all follow-on administrative processes."

In response to U.S. President Donald Trump’s tariff threats, Canada’s national public sector workers union is calling on the feds to forcibly take ownership of any “nationally important” company that threatens to move its operations to the U.S.

The Canadian Union of Public Employees called on the federal government to assert public ownership of companies in Canadian markets and spend more tax dollars to fight back against Trump’s “imperialism.”

“US President Donald Trump’s threatened tariffs would severely damage the Canadian economy, our public services and our way of life,” CUPE said in its statement. “These tariffs are not a one-off: they are part of a larger anti-democratic effort by his administration to solidify billionaire control over government, stoke fear and racism, and cement US imperialism in Canada and around the globe.”

It called on the state to “meet this crisis with bold action and progressive, public solutions.”

Among those “progressive” solutions, CUPE wants the government to seize control of any Canadian business owner who wants to leave Canada for lower taxes and less regulatory burden that the new U.S. administration promises.

“Put emergency nationalization on the table,” the announcement said. “If a company doing business in Canada threatens to move nationally important operations to the US, the federal government could take ownership.”

This week, the Coalition of Concerned Manufacturers and Businesses Canada, announced half of its members now have premises in the U.S. out of necessity to protect themselves and the jobs they provide amid an “anti-business” climate in Canada.

Though manufacturers and businesses say they have moved premises to the U.S. because of problems caused by the Canadian government, CUPE demands that the state grow larger and its involvement in the market expand further. Continue...

A Colombian man was extradited from Canada to the United States and arraigned on Thursday for his alleged involvement in a human smuggling attempt that resulted in a pregnant woman drowning.

According to a statement released by the U.S. Attorney’s Office, 36-year-old Jhader Augusto Uribe-Tobar – a citizen of Colombia who resides in Québec – attempted to smuggle a pregnant woman from Canada into New York for $2,500 by instructing her to wade through the frigid Great Chazy River in darkness.

The woman, a 33-year-old citizen of Mexico, died in December 2023 while attempting to complete the trek.

The body of Ana Vasquez-Flores was found in the river near Champlain, N.Y., on Dec. 14, 2023, two days after her husband alerted a border patrol agent that she had not emerged from the woods on the American side of the border.

Juan Uribe-Tobar advertised his smuggling services on TikTok according to the court documents.

On December 7, 2023, Vasquez-Flores’s husband contacted Uribe-Tobar via the app and was told that the cost for the crossing was “$2,500 American” – with the route taking Vasquez-Flores through Montreal before reaching Plattsburgh, New York. Continue...

In a new poll from Angus Reid, 78% of Ontarians agreed with the statement “Doug Ford is calling this election for his own best interests,” with only 13% of voters disagreeing.

The belief that Ford called a self-serving election is held across party lines, as over 90% of Liberal, NDP, and Green party voters said the election was only called for the sake of the Progressive Conservatives. Even 58% of Ontarians intending to vote PC agreed with the statement.

Alberta Premier Danielle Smith has called for an expedited review in response to troubling allegations regarding the procurement and contracting processes of Alberta Health Services (AHS).

“I have read various media stories containing allegations regarding the procurement and contracting processes of AHS. They are troubling allegations and they should be reviewed as quickly as possible,” Smith stated.

To ensure a swift and transparent investigation, Smith announced she will be formally requesting Auditor General Doug Wylie to conduct a review and deliver findings on the matter. She also directed government officials to fully cooperate with any requests from Wylie’s office.

Wylie announced last week he had already started an investigation.

In addition, Smith has requested AHS to complete its internal review as quickly as possible and submit the findings directly to her. While the investigation is ongoing, she confirmed that AHS has paused contracting for the surgical facilities under review.

“As Premier, I was not involved in any wrongdoing. Any insinuation to the contrary is false, baseless and defamatory,” Smith asserted.

Nearly 100 people were sickened by an outbreak of an unknown gastrointestinal illness this week on the Royal Caribbean cruise ship Radiance of the Seas, according to a report from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The CDC said on Feb. 5 that about 89 of the 2,164 passengers on the ship were affected by the outbreak, or about 4 percent of the passengers. Two out of 910 crew members reported symptoms, the agency said.

The primary symptoms, according to the CDC, are vomiting and diarrhea. The “causative agent” was listed as “unknown,” the agency also said.

The Radiance of the Seas trip started on Feb. 1 and is scheduled to end on Feb. 8, while the outbreak was first reported on Feb. 5.

Sick passengers and crew members were isolated from the rest of the individuals on the cruise ship, the CDC said. The ship also has stepped up “cleaning and disinfection procedures” and collected samples for testing to determine the nature of the outbreak, the agency said.

Officials with the CDC’s Vessel Sanitation Program are now “remotely monitoring the situation, including review of the ship’s outbreak response and sanitation procedures,” it added.

While the cause of the outbreak wasn’t disclosed, the CDC noted that norovirus is generally the cause of outbreaks on cruise ships and that “finding the agent that caused an outbreak ... can take time.”

“When an outbreak occurs, people whose symptoms met the case definition are asked to provide stool or vomitus samples. These samples are tested to determine the causative agent,” the CDC said. Continue...

A Canadian energy sector company is reviewing ways to expand projects in the wake of U.S. tariff threats which could see it increase the country’s barrel per day production by as much as 300,000.

The Trans Mountain Expansion oil pipeline first launched commercial operations last May following years of regulatory delays and obstacles since it was first announced.

The $30.9 billion project, owned by the Canadian government, was designed to substantially increase the transport capacity of oil from Alberta through B.C. to the Pacific Coast and currently ships up to 890,000 barrels per day for export.

Shipments of oil are primarily sent to the United States and Asian markets.

However, following U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent announcement to hit Canada’s energy sector with 10 per-cent tariffs on all oil imports, Trans Mountain said it’s looking to expand existing projects to allow for an additional 200,000 to 300,000 barrels per day.

As part of its annual report, the self-described “Planned Parenthood Canada” announced it helped a young non-citizen immigrant woman terminate a 24-week pregnancy at the stage where many babies can survive outside of the womb.

Action Canada for Sexual Health and Rights released its 2023-2024 annual report last Monday. In it, the group mentioned its funding source of revenue and its impact through various projects, including the termination of a six-month-old pregnancy.

The group said between July 2023 and July 2024, its funding supported 504 clients in accessing “abortion care.”

The report details how the organization helped a 19-year-old who “found herself pregnant” and whose name was changed for the article to “Manpreet,” procure an abortion. Due to not being a Canadian citizen, the group said she struggled to access abortion services. When she reached out to Action Canada, she was reportedly 24 weeks along.

Canada’s ambassador to France called out U.S. President Donald Trump over his threats to invade Greenland, claiming that the remarks violated international law.

“I’m just saying that in order to respect international law, you don’t threaten your neighbours by invasion,” said Ambassador to France Stephane Dion during a press conference Monday.

Trump refused to rule out the possibility of using military force to annex Greenland earlier this month and claimed that would annex Canada by way of “economic force” to make it the 51st state.

He reiterated those comments on Sunday.

Trump was pressed on the matter after a hot mic incident went public of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau calling the president’s desire to absorb Canada into the U.S. “a real thing” to access abundant natural resources.

When asked about Trump’s threat to impose military force on Greenland, Dion said that such threats went against international law and the UN Charter.

Gaganpreet Singh Randhawa, the lone person charged in connection with a massive drug “superlab bust” in Falkland, B.C. last fall, made his second court appearance on Monday.

He was arrested on Oct. 25, 2024 after RCMP investigators executed search warrants on what turned out to be a massive drug superlab in Falkland, as well as other locations in Surrey. The raids were part of a series of coordinated actions across the Metro Vancouver and North Okanagan regions.

While executing those search warrants, police dismantled what they described as the largest and most sophisticated drug superlab of its kind, seizing 54 kilograms of fentanyl, 390 kilograms of methamphetamine, 35 kilograms of cocaine, 15 kilograms of MDMA, and six kilograms of cannabis, along with huge quantities of precursor chemicals.

In addition to the drug haul, investigators confiscated 89 firearms, including 45 handguns, 21 rifles, and multiple submachine guns, many of which were loaded and ready for use. Officials have identified nine of these firearms as stolen.

The searches further uncovered small explosive devices, large stockpiles of ammunition, firearm silencers, high-capacity magazines, body armour, and $500,000 in cash.

This isn’t Randhawa’s first run-in with the law. In 2016 he was convicted in Burnaby for dial-a-dope trafficking. During sentencing he told the judge he tried to leave the drug business but was threatened with death by his “bosses,” who went unnamed. Continue...

Insolvencies rose 12.1 per-cent last year compared with 2023, primarily driven by small- to medium-sized businesses.

Canadian business insolvencies saw a pronounced increase of 28.6 per cent last year, compared with 2023, according to data from the Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy.

It’s worth noting that last year about 375 insolvencies occurred each day, marking a 15-year high across both business and consumer sectors.

Businesses that suffered the most were construction, food services, accommodation, transportation and warehousing.

However, “mining, quarrying, and oil and gas extraction showed decreases in the number of insolvencies,” it said.

Peace negotiations remain stalled. Moscow has maintained it is open to talks but has insisted that Kiev should renounce its NATO ambitions, recognize the new “realities on the ground” and withdraw its troops from all Russian territories.

Ukraine, on the other hand, has refused to hold talks until Russia withdraws its troops from territories Kiev claims as its own, including Crimea, and has insisted on security guarantees from the West.

In an interview with Ukrainian journalist Natalya Mosiychuk last week, Kuleba pointed out that finding any sort of wording for a peace settlement between Moscow and Kiev would be incredibly difficult, particularly with regards to the territorial issue.

“A person who signs a document renouncing NATO still has a chance to survive physically and politically, but a person who signs an agreement relinquishing territories will either be killed or ousted from politics,” the former minister claimed

“I see it as an extremely difficult task to find formulations that will describe the territorial issue in such a way that it will stop the war and at the same time not lead to an internal revolution,” he added.

At the same time, Kuleba, a staunch supporter of Ukraine’s membership in NATO, has stated that Kiev should under no circumstances change its goals of joining the US-led military bloc and re-establishing Ukraine’s 1991 borders. The Canadian Federation of Independent Business announced it had learned of the incoming taxation on Monday.

“The CRA has confirmed to CFIB in writing that the Canada Carbon Rebate for Small Businesses is considered ‘assistance received by the taxpayer from a government in the taxation year in which the assistance is received. As such, it is subject to income tax. This announcement (to make it tax-free) and the FES were not accompanied by the proposed legislative amendments,’” said the federation.

Carbon tax rebates going to Canadian families remain tax-free.

Less than one day after originally announcing that the carbon tax rebate for small businesses would be taxed, the Liberals backtracked on their position and removed the tax last November.

Conservative MP Brad Vis slammed the Liberals for flip-flopping on their position.

The Security and Intelligence Threats to Elections task force responsible for monitoring threats to Canadian elections issued a statement claiming to have detected a malicious foreign interference campaign from the Chinese government using Global Affairs Canada’s Rapid Response Mechanism.

SITE is a task force composed of Canadian public safety and intelligence security agencies and Global Affairs Canada officials mandated to protect Canadian elections by detecting foreign interference and coordinating a whole-of-government approach to counteracting threats.

SITE says that China has launched a malicious information campaign against Freeland on the popular Chinese social media app WeChat from accounts linked to the Chinese government.

“The launch of this information operation was traced to WeChat’s most popular news account – an anonymous blog that has been previously linked by experts at the China Digital Times to the People’s Republic of China,” reads SITE’s statement.

A Calgary man has been arrested and charged after police seized more than 1.5 kilograms of fentanyl in a drug bust last week.

ALERT Calgary’s organized crime team, with assistance from the Calgary Police Service, executed the seizure on February 6 at an apartment in the Beltline area. T

he suspect was arrested nearby during a traffic stop, where officers also searched his vehicle.

In total, officers seized 1,547 grams of fentanyl, with an estimated street value of $150,000, along with 49 grams of suspected benzodiazepine, which is often used to dilute fentanyl, and $17,550 in cash.

Bolutife Opeodu, 29, has been charged with possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking and possession of proceeds of crime. He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on February 11.

ALERT launched the investigation in December 2024 after receiving intelligence about Opeodu’s alleged involvement in drug trafficking.

A Feb. 10 deadline for the 195 signatories of the Paris (climate) Agreement to publish and submit their emissions-reduction plans to the U.N. has come and gone with just 10 nations complying.

The reason so many countries have not published their reports on time remains unclear.

When the Paris Agreement was adopted in 2015, member countries agreed to work toward the goal of keeping the global temperature from exceeding 2 degrees Celsius over pre-industrial era levels.

The optimum target is 1.5 degrees Celsius, according to the agreement.

To hold the signatories accountable, the deal requires each country to list its efforts, measure its results, report on its progress, and talk about further action every five years.

The reports are called Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC). They include the pledges each nation has made toward meeting the COP’s (Conference of Parties to the Paris Agreement) objectives for 2035.

The current NDCs are scheduled to be considered at a COP meeting in November.

The Chinese communist regime remained a major perpetrator of transnational repression in 2024, according to the latest data released by the U.S. human rights organization Freedom House.

The Washington-based nonprofit organization recorded 23 governments and regimes perpetrating 160 incidents of physical transnational repression across 34 countries in 2024, the organization said in a Feb. 6 statement. Methods used by authorities in these countries included assassinations, abductions, assaults, detentions, and unlawful deportations.

The Chinese regime was one of the leading perpetrators along with Uganda, Cambodia, Russia, and Iran in 2024, the organization said. The transnational repression targeted exiled political activists, journalists, former regime insiders, and members of ethnic or religious minorities, according to the Freedom House report.

The report recorded 1,219 incidents of direct, physical transnational repression between 2014 and 2024. The Chinese regime “remains the most prolific perpetrator, committing 272 incidents, or 22 percent, of recorded cases” in the past decade, according to Freedom House researchers.

A recent study by the Fraser Institute found that Ford’s “Progressive Conservative” government has spent more annually than any provincial government in Ontario’s history, barring only Dalton McGuinty’s Liberals in 2010.

Karahalios is calling for conservatives in Ontario to “wake up” and stop falling for “PC party propaganda.”

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is appointing his deputy national security advisor to become Canada’s first fentanyl czar.

On Tuesday, the Prime Minister’s Office announced that Kevin Brosseau will be appointed to the role of fentanyl czar to disrupt the domestic and international fentanyl trade in Canada.

The appointment of the new role combatting the deadly opioid crisis comes after Trudeau and U.S. President Donald Trump reached an agreement to pause America’s imposition of a 25-per-cent tariff on Canadian goods.

“As Fentanyl Czar, Mr. Brosseau will work closely with U.S. counterparts and law enforcement agencies to accelerate Canada’s ongoing work to detect, disrupt, and dismantle the fentanyl trade,” reads the PMO’s statement.

Brosseau is a former senior officer for the RCMP, rising up the ranks to become Manitoba’s deputy commissioner of the service in 2016. According to the post-secondary school, candidates “are required to identify as a woman or gender equity-seeking group, which is defined to include individuals who self-identify as women, transgender, gender-fluid, non-binary, or Two Spirit people.”

As of Tuesday, the university had six job postings for research chairs. Five of the six job postings require candidates to self-identify as women or gender minorities.

A University of Waterloo spokesperson told True North that the school is part of the Liberal government’s Canada Research Chairs Program, which requires them to address under-representation in four groups designated by the feds. The four groups are women, persons with disabilities, Indigenous peoples, and members of visible minorities.

The university said that it follows the requirements on self-identification and that any universities in the program are subject to the same regulations, along with fines if they violate the rules.

The Progressive Conservatives’ border protection plan would see Ontario spend $50 million to purchase two H-135 helicopters to support the Niagara Regional Police and the Windsor Police Service.

While Ford said that pushback against the Trump administration is needed to protect the province, he emphasized the need for Ontario and Canada to address the concerns President Trump has pointed to concerning fentanyl trafficking.

“If you look at Canada, Canada has a very big car industry. They stole it from us. They stole it because our people were asleep at the wheel,” said Trump during an interview with Fox News Monday.

“If we don’t make a deal with Canada, we’re going to put a big tariff on cars. Could be a 50 or 100 per cent because we don’t want their cars. We want to make the cars in Detroit.”

The two countries have shared an integrated auto sector for decades, with some auto parts crossing the border multiple times during their assembly.

“The North American auto industry has been founded on integration. That’s what makes Canada and North America competitive as an auto manufacturing jurisdiction,” said Brian Kingston, president and CEO of the Canadian Vehicle Manufacturers Association in a post to X.

Former Prime Minister Lester Pearson signed a deal with then-U.S. President Lyndon Johnson called the Canada-United States Automotive Products Agreement in 1965.

Commonly referred to as the Auto Pact, the deal allowed for the free flow of parts and vehicles between the two countries without tariffs.

The Auto Pact stayed in effect until it was replaced by the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) in 1994, which broadened the arrangement beyond the auto industry to all sectors.

NAFTA would later be replaced by the Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA) in 2018, agreed to by Trump. It is slated for re-negotiation in 2026.

The Trudeau government has said it will continue to work with the Trump administration to relay its message of how cross-border tariffs will ultimately hurt both countries.

However, their attempt to reason with the U.S. president may fall on deaf ears.

The AI Action Summit, held in Paris this week, resulted in 60 signatories supporting a statement on “inclusive and sustainable artificial intelligence for people and the planet.”

Among the dozens of countries are the European Union and the African Union Commission, along with Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany – but not the US or the UK.

The gathering in France brought together representatives of governments, international organizations, civil society, academics, researchers, and, the private sector.

The declaration commits to a number of UN initiatives, such as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), that are routinely criticized for ushering in censorship and surveillance. Some of the other international initiatives cited are the UNESCO Recommendation on Ethics of AI and a number of UN General Assembly resolutions.

But the document signed in Paris talks about reinforced international cooperation and better coordinated international governance as main priorities, while also worryingly (given how “information integrity” is often used as a “code word” for censorship) pledging to “keep addressing the risks of AI to information integrity.”

In order to strengthen joint work on “public and private” AI initiatives, those backing the declaration launched the Public Interest AI Platform and Incubator.

When it comes to the endorsement of the UN’s SDGs, and how that may stand in the way of free speech, it’s worth remembering that this set of 17 interconnected global goals promotes not only digital ID, but also indirectly censorship of what the authorities find to be “threats to information integrity” that can negatively impact SDGs – such as “hate speech,” “misinformation,” etc.

Another UN initiative referred to by the Paris Declaration in the Global Digital Compact, which the signatories agreed is the basis for launching a Global Dialogue on AI governance and the Independent International Scientific Panel on AI, as a way to “align ongoing governance efforts.”

The Global Digital Compact is one of the annexes to the UN’s Pact for the Future, prominently pushing digital ID (via what the UN, the EU, the WEF, and the Gates Foundation like to call, digital public infrastructure, DPI), as well as a number of censorship and surveillance policies, tied to “countering and addressing” things considered “hate speech,” “misinformation,” “disinformation,” “cyberbullying.”

The Pact for the Future, while claiming privacy safeguards are built in, also promotes greater “cross-border data flows (sharing).”

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s immigration ministry has been secretly asking Canadians via surveys if they would accept a mandatory national identification program that likely would require each citizen to always have a type of “digital” passport on them.

Canada’s Immigration Minister Mar Miller’s department, as reported by Blacklock’s Reporter, commissioned a company called Advanis Inc., an Ontario-based pollster, to poll Canadians on its “Passport Client Experience Survey.” This poll has been ongoing since December of last year, with pollsters targeting “clients who applied for a passport.”

The main question the poll asked was, “How comfortable would you be sharing a secure digital version of the passport within Canada as an identity document?”

Thus far, the Department of Immigration has not commented about its poll.

The poll comes despite multiple parliamentary committees having rejected numerous times any sort of national ID system, noting how such a system would be extremely costly.

Canada’s Security and Intelligence Threats to Elections (SITE) task force on Friday said it has detected “coordinated and malicious activity” from accounts linked to the People’s Republic of China (PRC), directed against former finance minister Chrystia Freeland, a leading candidate from the Liberal Party of Canada to replace outgoing Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Global Affairs Canada, the Canadian foreign ministry, published a statement from SITE that said the “information operation targeting Chrystia Freeland” was traced to an anonymous blog on WeChat that “has been previously linked by experts at the China Digital Times to the People’s Republic of China.”

The task force “identified over 30 WeChat news accounts taking part in the campaign,” collectively harvesting “very high levels of engagement and views.”

According to the report, this WeChat network generated “over 140,000 interactions between January 29 and February 3, 2025,” with up to 3 million users worldwide seeing the material disseminated by the campaign.

In his sanctimonious letter, Pope Francis calls on the bishops to defend the “infinite and transcendent dignity of every human person” amidst what he terms a “major crisis” with “mass deportations.”

Outspoken Catholic leader Archbishop Carlo Maria Vigano has responde to the letter and called out Red Francis main concern is not about immigrants, but about losing the steady flow of American tax dollars into the Church’s coffers for immigrant “services.”

The recent exposure of the U.S. Agency for International Development’s (USAID) funding of a myriad of NGOs shows just how much money is being siphoned from American taxpayers to enrich globalist causes.

According to Forbes, Catholic Relief Services (CRS) was the top recipient of funding from the USAID.

CRS, a nonprofit, received $4.6 billion from 2013 to 2022. Other top recipients include Chemonics International, a for-profit organization that received $4.5 billion; FHI 360, a nonprofit that received $3.8 billion; and Development Alternatives, a for-profit organization that received $3 billion.

The aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman was involved in a collision at sea Wednesday night, according to reports.

The U.S Navy’s Sixth Fleet released a statement on the incident involving the 100,000-ton aircraft carrier, which occurred shortly before midnight in the Mediterranean Sea, near Port Said, Egypt.

“The Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) was involved in a collision with the merchant vessel Besiktas-M at approximately 11:46 p.m. local time, Feb. 12, while operating in the vicinity of Port Said, Egypt, in the Mediterranean Sea,” the statement reads.

The statement added that no one was injured in the collision, and no flooding has been reported.

“The collision did not endanger the Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) as there are no reports of flooding or injuries,” the statement continues. “The propulsion plants are unaffected and in a safe and stable condition.”

According to ABC News, “The aircraft carrier and its strike group had been operating in the Red Sea since mid-December as part of the mission to thwart Houthi militant attacks launched from Yemen at commercial vessels transiting the vital waterway.”

The Navy added that the incident is currently under investigation.

“More information will be released as it becomes available,” the statement added.

On December 6, 2024, a federal judge ordered the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to release documents related to the emergency use authorisation of Pfizer’s Covid-19 vaccine. These documents had been hidden from public view.

The legal battle traces back to September 2021, when attorney Aaron Siri filed a lawsuit under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) on behalf of the Public Health and Medical Professionals for Transparency. The plaintiffs sought access to the vast trove of documents the FDA relied on to approve Pfizer’s vaccine.

Initially, the FDA proposed a slow release schedule. In November 2021, the agency stated it would release just 500 pages per month—a pace that would have stretched the full disclosure process to 75 years.

However, in January 2022, District Judge Mark Pittman of Texas rejected the FDA’s proposal, ordering the agency to expedite its release to 55,000 pages per month, aiming to complete the disclosure of all 450,000 pages by August 2022.

As the documents trickled out, researchers began uncovering glaring gaps that prevented a systematic review of the data. These gaps fueled suspicions about what else the FDA might be withholding.

It became evident that the FDA had withheld records directly tied to its emergency use authorisation of Pfizer’s vaccine, estimated to be over one million pages.

These documents, which the FDA had full knowledge of, were excluded from earlier disclosures, effectively misleading the judiciary and undermining public trust.

“The reality is that unless something big changes, we will likely close. The organization will shut down. We have four to six months of funding that I can kind of piece together,” said TK Pritchard, executive director of Abortion Care Canada.

According to Pritchard, the organization uses the taxpayer funds to help women procure abortions, doing so for a heartbreaking 450 people last year.

Since the Liberal government set up the Sexual and Reproductive Health Fund in 2021, Abortion Care Canada has received a whopping 2.2 million taxpayer dollars. According to Health Canada, it has received numerous requests for funding by various groups under the Sexual and Reproductive Health Fund and is unable to fund all of them.

“All proposals were evaluated against merit-based criteria, including criteria related to the specificity and feasibility of proposed project activities and outputs as well as level of stakeholder collaboration,” Health Canada explained to CTV News.

CTV News also noted that another pro-abortion group, Action Canada for Sexual Health and Rights, an umbrella group under which several other groups operate, reported that their funding was cut by almost 40 percent.

The week-long Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025, organized by the foundation headed by the UK’s Prince Harry, commenced on February 8 and is scheduled to end on Saturday.

Gen. Musa made the announcement on Thursday during a lecture at the National Association of the Institute for Security Studies in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

“Remember last year the Duke of Sussex and his wife visited Nigeria. Through the Invictus… they try to raise the morale of troops all over the world that have suffered one form of deformity or the other in the course of defending their individual countries,” he said.

“We were supposed to be there. Actually, half of my team has already gone, but unfortunately, the Canadian embassy, for reasons best known to them, denied us visas,” the army chief added.

Gen. Musa said that while the denial of entry into Canada is “very disappointing,” it serves as a reminder for Nigerians to “stand strong as a nation and refuse to be taken for granted.”

Abuja’s national security adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, slammed the Canadian government for the visa snub, declaring that “they can go to hell.”

“Even though it’s painful and disrespectful, we are peaceful, we are strong, and I agree with you – it is time to fix our country. This is yet another reason we must work hard to make Nigeria work,” Ribadu said, addressing the same security gathering in Abuja on Thursday.

Tests were performed, and it was confirmed that the substance was fentanyl.

The apprehension comes amid growing tension between Canada and the United States, with fentanyl among the issues fuelling the discontent. Following negotiations between American president Donald Trump and Canadian prime minister, Canada announced the appointment of Kevin Brosseau as "fentanyl czar."

The prime minister's office made it clear that "the scourge of fentanyl must be wiped from the face of the Earth, its production must be shut down, and its profiteers must be punished."

"This is a national security and a public safety crisis," Brosseau added. "We should be focused on eliminating the scourge that is fentanyl in this country and in the United States. If it's one pound, 10 pounds, we all know the amount of deaths that that possibly could represent."

In a text to The Western Standard, Day said the $11-billion Pacific Future Energy project was “years ahead of its time” when it was first proposed in 2016.

Day was a director of the Vancouver-based company that was proposing to refine 150,000 barrels per day of Alberta heavy crude that was to come off the proposed Northern Gateway pipeline and send another 200,000 bpd of natural gas thinning agents back to Edmonton.

Products like gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel would have then been exported to markets in Asia.

But Guilbeault on Tuesday quietly terminated the environmental assessment for the project — arguably one of the most difficult steps — that was grandfathered under old environmental rules.

If it were to move ahead, the company would have to reapply under the newer Impact Assessment Act (IAA), that replaced the former Canadian Environmental Assessment Act in 2019 with a more stringent regulatory framework that places greater emphasis on climate considerations.

Because Pacific Future Energy initially submitted its project description in 2016, it fell under the previous rules. However, Guilbeault made it clear that any attempt to revive the project would require a new application under the updated environmental regulations. Continue...

He made the comments on Saturday February 15th, 2025 on The Rest is Politics podcast with hosts Alastair Campbell – a British journalist and former Labour strategist – and American financier and former Trump spokesman Anthony Scaramucci.

Campbell asked, “when you’re sitting down with your key people, and you’re being absolutely honest with yourself and each other, what do you define as your core strength and your core weakness?”

“I know how the world works, I know how to get things done, I’m connected and I can deliver for the country,” Carney replied.

As for his weakness, he says:

“People will charge me with being elitist or a globalist, to use that term, which is, well, that’s exactly, it happens to be exactly what we need."
