A 35-year-old Honduran national, identified as Eduardo Javier Ordonez Godoy, has been arrested following the abduction of a 22-year-old woman in Haltom City, Texas.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, when the victim was walking to her vehicle at the Acacia Apartments around 4:45 a.m., WFAA reported.

According to police reports, Godoy, who was previously deported back to Honduras for a similar crime, was armed and masked when he forced the woman into her car at gunpoint.

He forced her to withdraw money from a nearby bank and made disturbing threats, including selling her organs or forcing her into prostitution, according to charging documents obtained by Fox 4 News.

After driving her approximately 22 miles to an apartment complex in Grapevine, he restrained her by tying her hands to a tree with her shoelaces before fleeing in her vehicle. The victim managed to free herself and seek help.

Law enforcement agencies tracked the stolen vehicle, locating it in Oklahoma City on December 25.

The Ukrainian Border Guard Service has sparked social media uproar after posting a photo of a service member with several distinctively Nazi symbols on his uniform and weapon. The image appeared on the border agency’s official Facebook page in late October but has drawn public attention only recently.

A post dedicated to the “dark” side of the Ukrainian border guard soldiers, that they supposedly only show to “the enemy,” features a picture of a soldier dressed in military uniform and protective gear with a Nazi eagle patch on his chest.

The eagle holding a laurel wreath in its claws with his wings spread apart is depicted against the red-and-black background traditionally associated with the Ukrainian ultra-nationalists and the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA) – a WWII-era paramilitary entity known for collaborating with the Nazis and for committing numerous war crimes.

The only difference between the Nazi eagle and the one the soldier in question is sporting on his uniform is the Ukrainian trident coat of arms in place of the Nazi swastika inside the laurel. The same soldier is also seen holding an assault rifle with the SS bolts on one of its handles. The SS lightning bolts were a symbol of the Nazi Party’s paramilitary organization, which was condemned at the Nuremberg Tribunal and has since become popular among neo-Nazi and far-right groups. The EU has permanently denied Hungary access to over €1 billion ($1.04 billion) in funds as of January 1, 2025, due to an ongoing dispute over alleged rule-of-law violations, Welt reported on Thursday citing a spokeswoman for the European Commission. This marks the first perpetual loss of funding by an EU member state under the bloc’s “conditionality” mechanism, according to the outlet.

Introduced in 2020, the mechanism allows Brussels to suspend funding to member states which it believes violate the bloc’s rule-of-law principles.

The EU has pressured Hungary to change its laws in order to tackle alleged conflicts of interest and corruption for some time, launching “conditionality” proceedings against it back in 2022 and blocking its EU funding.

Brussels has cited alleged infringements of public procurement rules and a lack of control and transparency as reasons for the move. Hungary has since launched reforms and cleared some of the funds, but around €19 billion remain frozen. Continue...

The question now is: does Guilbeault shoving the net-zero goalposts out to 2050 make the impossible possible?

Canada’s electrical grid currently emits an estimated 47 megatonnes (Mt) of CO2 annually. To eliminate these emissions, “all” we need to do is replace the electricity currently generated using fossil fuels with one or more of the other significant available sources—hydro, nuclear, wind or solar.

Last year Canada produced 127 terrawatt-hours (equal to 127 million megawatt-hours) of electricity using fossil fuels, about 20% of Canada’s overall power output. Lawyers for people who sued Apple after they said Siri recorded their conversations and shared the conversations with advertisers told a federal court in California that Apple does not oppose their proposed settlement, which features a payment of $95 million.

“The Settlement, if approved, will resolve Plaintiffs’ allegations that Siri Device purchasers’ confidential or private communications were obtained by Apple and/or were shared with third parties without their consent as a result of an unintended Siri activation,” the lawyers said in the Dec. 31 filing.

Plaintiffs said in the most recent version of their lawsuit that Apple illegally recorded their confidential conversations despite promising that Siri would only listen to, record, and share conversations with permission.

The Nēwo-Yōtina Friendship Centre has received federal approval to operate as Regina’s first supervised safe consumption site.

Health Canada granted the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act exemption on December 27 after reviewing public health and safety measures.

The centre’s Wâhkôhtowin Harm Reduction branch has been functioning as an overdose prevention site since 2021 under a temporary exemption.

The new approval allows it to provide services for the foreseeable future.

Located on Eleventh Avenue, the indigenous-led site offers adults a safe space to use drugs under paramedic supervision, which is meant to prevent overdoses and other medical emergencies.

Additional supports include drug testing for contaminants like fentanyl, access to social services, referrals to treatment programs, housing and cultural supports, Elder-led guidance, and daily meals for those in need.

According to the Saskatchewan Ministry of Health, supervised consumption sites do not require provincial approval to operate.

However, the ministry emphasized that its focus is on addiction treatment and rehabilitation rather than harm reduction sites, which it does not fund.

Regina joins Saskatoon’s Prairie Harm Reduction site as the province’s second federally approved consumption site.

Advocates argue that these facilities are vital in combating the opioid crisis, as fentanyl and related substances continue to be major contributors to overdose deaths in Saskatchewan.

According to the Saskatchewan Coroners Service, 334 confirmed or suspected drug-related deaths were recorded in the province during the first 11 months of 2024—a 24% decrease compared to 2023.

Regina reported the highest number of deaths at 69, followed by Saskatoon with 53.

For a time in the 2010s, it looked like Justin Trudeau’s Liberal government was committed to investing in the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF). In 2017, as part of a major foreign policy statement, Defence Minister Harjit Sajjan, announced a new defence policy: “Strong, Secure, Engaged”. Canada was to be strong at home, secure in North America and engaged in the world.

The government promised to increase spending on defence from a paltry 1 percent of GDP to 1.4 per cent by 2024, to buy advanced fighter jets and build surface frigates, and to grow the regular forces to 71,500 troops. While most of this sounded good, none of this lofty rhetoric was achieved. Current Defence Minister Bill Blair has admitted the CAF is short some 16,500 troops, and the Parliamentary Budget Office puts spending at just 1.29 percent of GDP, far below out NATO commitment of two percent. Some defence analysts consider it unlikely the Trudeau government ever intended to take serious action.

The CAF, as it stands today, is a depleted, demoralized and nearly shattered force. The neglect and deterioration, which I explored in Part I of this series, is unforgivable. But it’s not irreversible. How should Canada begin to rebuild the CAF?

Even if Ottawa surpasses its coldest temperature ever recorded of -39°C, residents will be prohibited from idling their unoccupied vehicles for more than one minute an hour going forward, barring some exceptions.

The City of Ottawa previously announced that their bylaw changes would come into effect in the new year and can be enforced no matter the season.

The changes come despite the city’s own research showing that residents disagree with the change. The previous research was conducted in May 2024.

The survey highlighted that 164 respondents opposed the new idling bylaw, while 145 said further education and enforcement were required. Only 86 respondents were in favour of a bylaw.

A group of high school students from Centreville High School in Virginia, in collaboration with the FDA, has uncovered alarming DNA contamination in both Pfizer’s experimental and commercial mRNA COVID-19 shots.

Their peer-reviewed study, published in the Journal of High School Science on December 29th, has sparked renewed debate over vaccine manufacturing standards and quality control processes.

The researchers, led by Tyler Wang, Alex Kim, and Kevin Kim, developed a novel method to detect replication-competent DNA impurities at FDA’s own research facility at the White Oak Campus, Children’s Health Defense reported.

Their technique involves extracting DNA from vaccine samples, ligating it into a circular form, and then transforming it into Escherichia coli cells.

If transformation results in antibiotic-resistant bacterial colonies, it indicates the presence of replication-competent DNA, which should ideally be absent or minimal in the final vaccine product.

The findings were based on analyses of two separate lots of Pfizer’s mRNA vaccines, including monovalent and bivalent formulations.

The students uncovered significant levels of DNA contamination in the vaccines, with some samples exceeding the WHO threshold by up to 470 times, the amount of residual DNA detected ranged between 40 to 110 nanograms per dose.

While no replication-competent DNA was detected in commercial Pfizer vaccine batches, smaller DNA fragments—approximately 35 base pairs in length—were consistently present.

Interestingly, the study reported sporadic instances of replication-competent DNA in an in-house mRNA vaccine and a biosimilar vaccine.

Ottawa is the Canadian capital, where average temperatures range from -9C (15F) in December, -14C (6F) in January and Febuary, to -7C (19F) in March. The new time limits on pre-heating your car will allow one minute of idle time per hour for unoccupied vehicles.

That means using the remote starter to melt off the ice and warm the car up before piling into it for the morning commute is now verboten. It’ll also mean you’ll have to get out there in the -14C weather with your ice-scraper because there’s no way a minute of idle time is enough to defrost or de-ice your windshield.

Quebec emergency rooms have been severely overcrowded following the holidays with several major Montreal hospitals operating at a capacity rate of over 200%.

According to data tabulated by the Index Santé, the Montreal General Hospital was at 213% ER capacity on Friday afternoon, while the Jewish General Hospital was reportedly operating at 209% capacity.

Additionally, the Royal Victoria Hospital, which is connected to the McGill University Health Centre reported a 203% capacity.

Quebec government data also reported the average ER wait time across the province to be five hours, while the average time for patients on a stretcher has surpassed 16 hours.

The stretcher occupancy rate as of Friday was at 125%, with 829 patients having waited over 24 hours for service and another 296 patients waiting over 48 hours.

The Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) stand at a precipice. After nine years of broken promises on new equipment and funding, attacks on leadership failures, misuse as a gender and DEI testbed, embarrassment at the inability to provide combat-capable personnel and equipment, and occasional exploitation as props for political shows, the CAF has reached record lows for recruitment, retention and capability. As someone who spent 27 years serving in our armed forces, the decline is impossible to accept. The organization is a broken, demoralized shell.

This Canada is beset by national security challenges, arguably crises: shockingly deep and broad foreign interference in our institutions, worsening illegal protests in our streets, growing concern among our allies and trading partners, the open contempt of our adversaries. In part I and part II of this series, I traced the decline of the CAF and the requirements of a rebuild .

If the CAF is the canary in the coal mine that signals the state of Canada’s national security, then the canary is on its back, fluttering. The political and military leadership that allowed, indeed designed and executed, the decades-long deterioration and borderline destruction of the CAF must ultimately be held accountable. The rebuild must start now, however – without them – using people who have a clear vision of the threats to our nation and national defence requirements to overcome them.

Upon founding the post-secondary school, Tory stated that the school’s mandate was “to create an intellectual and spiritual atmosphere in which prejudice and hatred could not live, a just institution whose work would be to assist in the unification of the diverse elements which enter our national life.”

According to Flanagan, the move away from DEI practices represents the school’s commitment to re-aligning with the foundational values of a public university, which include curiosity, rigorous inquiry, and the search for truth.

The Saskatchewan Court of Appeal has dramatically reduced the prison sentence of a 35-year-old man who identifies as Métis – from five years to 30 months – after finding that the original sentencing did not take into account his lived experience as an Indigenous person.

Colin Umpherville was arrested at 29 years old in October 2019. Police entered a hotel room where Umpherville was present and discovered a .22 calibre handgun, 50 rounds of ammunition, a small quantity of methamphetamine, and a weigh scale in a backpack.

At the time of his arrest, Umpherville did not possess a firearms license and was assessed as having a high risk of reoffending.

“Mr. Umpherville’s crimes are serious and called for a term of imprisonment. However, I agree with Mr. Umpherville that the judge erred in his application of the principles set out in R v Gladue … and the cases interpreting and affirming that decision,” wrote Chief Justice Robert W. Leurer.

The Gladue principles, established by a Supreme Court ruling 25 years ago, mandate that courts consider the systemic and background factors affecting Indigenous offenders, including the legacy of colonialism and residential schools.

In 2022, US media reported that von der Leyen had communicated with Albert Bourla, chief executive of the US pharmaceutical giant Pfizer, about clinching a long-term contract to purchase 1.8 billion doses of COVID-19 vaccines worth €35 billion ($37.6 billion), even before they passed clinical trials.

Negotiations on the deal were conducted informally in late 2020 via SMS messages and without prior consent of EU member states.

The European Commission President also texted her husband, Heiko von der Leyen, who serves as the medical director at Orgenesis, a company that collaborates with Pfizer. All the messages were then accidentally deleted, Ursula von der Leyen claimed.

As a result, she has been accused of “usurpation of functions and title,” destruction of public documents, and high-level corruption charges that were initiated by Belgian lobbyist Frederic Baldan.

The first hearing on his complaint was held on 17 May 2024, when the Liege court confirmed that the so-called Pfizegate case is in line with its jurisdiction and should not be handed to the European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO), created on the initiative of von der Leyen herself, due to an obvious conflict of interests.

The second hearing slated for December 5 was actually disrupted due to a demarche by the EPPO, which sent a counter-request to the court for von der Leyen's immunity. The EPPO argues that von der Leyen has immunity from prosecution for corruption.

European Commission spokesperson Stefan de Keersmaecker said on January 5 that von der Leyen had canceled all "external engagements" in the coming days after contracting "severe pneumonia."

Now that Trudeau has announced his intent to resign and prorogue Parliament until March, there is a good chance his now-infamous 'Online Harms' bill will be scrapped.

An internet censorship bill which would have censored legal online content posted on social media through burdensome regulations is likely dead now that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has prorogued Parliament until the end of March.

Bill C-63, known as the Online Harms Act, was put forth under the guise of protecting children from exploitation online but also sought to expand the scope of “hate speech” prosecutions, and even desired to target such speech retroactively and preemptively.  

The bill had called for the creation of a Digital Safety Commission, a digital safety ombudsperson, and a Digital Safety Office, all tasked with policing internet content. It was blasted by constitutional experts as troublesome.

Due to Trudeau announcing on Monday morning that he plans to step down as Liberal Party leader once a new leader has been chosen, Parliament has been shut down. This means all bills, committees and other meetings have all been canceled.

In Canada, the procedure of proroguing Parliament, which is not often used, must first be approved by Governor General Mary Simon. On Monday, she granted Trudeau’s request to prorogue Parliament until the end of March as the Liberals select a new leader.

Canada’s House of Commons procedure and practice reads, “Bills which have not received Royal Assent before prorogation are ‘entirely terminated’ and to be proceeded with in the new session, must be reintroduced as if they had.”

“On occasion, however, bills have been reinstated by motion at the start of a new session at the same stage they had reached at the end of the previous session; committee work has similarly been revived.”

The likelihood of bills being “reinstated” via a motion is highly unlikely, as come March when Parliament resumes, the government will likely fall, as all opposition parties have promised to vote no-confidence in the Liberal government.

Bill C-63 bill’s “hate speech” section is accompanied by broad definitions, severe penalties, and dubious tactics, including levying preemptive judgments against people if they are feared to be likely to commit an act of “hate” in the future. Continue...

Despite previously threatening retaliation against Trump’s proposed tariffs, Ford outlined his Fortress Am-Can plan on Wednesday, with particular attention paid to Trump’s goal of decoupling the American economy from China.

The Church of Sweden has decided to SHUT DOWN 7 churches from the Middle Ages in order to meet climate goals.

The churches will be shut in the winter months between October to May.

Being very old, these churches are of course poorly insulated and they are being heated with oil.

However, they have now decided not to fill up any more oil to heat the churches – This to meet the climate goals of the Church of Sweden to be fossil free by the year 2027.

So instead of keeping the churches open, they are shutting them down in the name of climate change.

A statewide grand jury has concluded its investigation into COVID-19 vaccine manufacturers, determining that there was no indictable criminal activity.

This decision comes as a bitter pill for countless families who have suffered from vaccine injuries and adverse effects—an outcome many see as another example of Big Pharma’s iron grip on the system.

In December 2022, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) called on a statewide grand jury to investigate COVID vaccine-related injuries.

“I’m announcing a petition with the Supreme Court of Florida to impanel a statewide grand jury to investigate any and all wrongdoing in Florida with respect to Covid vaccines,” DeSantis said during a Covid vaccine accountability roundtable.

“We anticipate that we will get the approval for that, that will be something that will be impaneled most likely in the Tampa Bay area and that will come with legal processes that will be able to get more information and to bring legal accountability for those who committed misconduct,” DeSantis added.

A week later, the Florida Supreme Court approved Gov. DeSantis’ request to impanel a grand jury to investigate COVID-19 vaccine manufacturers.

“A statewide grand jury shall be promptly impaneled for a term of twelve calendar months, to run from the date of impanelment, with jurisdiction throughout the State of Florida, to investigate crime, return indictments, make presentments, and otherwise perform all functions of a grand jury with regard to the offenses stated herein,” the order read.

Last year, the statewide grand jury, usually comprised of 18 people and selected through a random process akin to that of any legal jury, published an interim report.

Now on Tuesday, the Twenty-Second Statewide Grand Jury has concluded its investigation into COVID-19 vaccine manufacturers, finding "no evidence of criminal activity."

An Ottawa detective facing disciplinary action related to investigating infant deaths is taking Canada’s state broadcaster to court.

Det. Helen Grus, who finished testifying before her long-running disciplinary tribunal Monday, is suing CBC for $875,000, alleging the broadcaster has waged an “adverse campaign of publishing harmful, malicious, and harassing newspaper articles containing false statements.”

Grus is taking issue with pieces CBC ran between March 2022 and December 2023.

The Ottawa Police Service’s professional standards unit (PSU) charged Grus in July of 2022 with discreditable conduct for actions she took probing a link between experimental COVID vaccines and a spike in infant deaths in the region. At the time of her purported offence, Grus was a member of the sex assault and child abuse (SACA) unit, whose responsibilities included investigating deaths of children under five.

A CBC reporter is also named as a defendant in the lawsuit according to documents filed at Ontario Superior Court last fall. In the statement of claim, which has not been tested or proven in court, Grus alleges that CBC’s Mar. 28 and Mar. 31 articles in 2022 – based on confidential information from unnamed sources within Ottawa Police Service – precipitated the administrative charge against her.

Grus’ claim also notes a third story published by CBC in December 2023 repeated similar false statements and “interfered with (her) privacy and reputation” while her case was before the tribunal. It was published a day before Grus’ lawyer, Bath-Shéba van den Berg, appeared before Ontario divisional court in a failed attempt to have a police duty book released to her client.

The named reporter did not respond to True North’s request for comment, but network spokesperson Chuck Thompson said in an email that “CBC believes the claims made by Detective Grus in her lawsuit are entirely without merit.”

An Ottawa real estate association has banned a real estate agent for comments he made on social media criticizing LGBT pride.

The Ottawa Real Estate Board, a private board that provides listing services to real estate agents in the city, banned Marc Papineau, a 14-year agent, from doing business with the organization after he failed to pay a fine it levied against him for the comments.

In a lengthy 2023 social media post, Papineau said he doesn’t think LGBT “Pride” should be celebrated for an entire month when veterans only get one day to be recognized. He also said drag shows aren’t appropriate for kids and that sexual preference should be a topic only discussed by adults.

Following the comments, the Reddit activists filed complaints against Papineau to both the Real Estate Council of Ontario – the regulatory body for the industry in the province – and the Ottawa Real Estate Board.

The provincial regulatory body determined that Papineau’s comments were personal in nature and did not warrant disciplinary action. He is still listed as an agent in good standing with no restrictions or disciplinary action on the council’s website.

The Ottawa Real Estate Board – a private industry association – took a different stance.

According to records of appeal decisions, disciplinary hearing transcripts and notices of termination acquired by True North, the board considered Papineau’s posts professional because he also posts business-related content on his personal account.

His ban means that he is no longer able to list properties on Realtor.ca, also known as the multiple listing service (MLS).

Conservative Party of British Columbia Leader John Rustad announced his party has discovered alleged voting irregularities in one of the 2024 provincial election’s closest ridings – Surrey-Guildford. The riding was won by the BC NDP Party by a margin of just 22 votes after a judicial recount.

The BC Conservative leader spoke at a press conference in front of the provincial legislature in Victoria on Thursday morning, announcing that his party has reason to be suspect of the final results.

“There’s been many people who have brought forward a tremendous amount of information to us about the election,” said Rustad.

The B.C. Conservatives have said they have filed a complaint with Elections B.C. regarding their findings.

Rustad claimed he did not comment on the allegations during the election because he believes British Columbians need to have confidence in the electoral system and didn’t want to add any rumours but wanted to make sure that his claims were based in facts.

The BC Conservative leader alleged there was evidence of irregularities related to a senior home in the riding, instances of people voting twice and votes submitted by non-Canadian citizens.

“We have cases where an individual went to vote and was told somebody had already voted using their name,” explained Rustad.

Specifically, Rustad pointed to discrepancies in addresses and 21 irregular votes being registered to a senior home.

“In Surrey-Guildford we found a case of a double vote, we have found a case of there being at least 2,000 being cast of people whose place of residence that was on Elections BC is not where they currently live,” said Rustad.

“One of the more serious issues we have found is associated with a care facility of seniors where 21 ballots were cast and individuals in that facility have come forward with affidavits of what went on.”

BC NDP candidate Gary Begg defeated BC Conservative Honveer Singh Randhawa by one of the narrowest victories in last year’s hotly contested election.

Rustad made several recommendations including a call for an independent review into the election process. Additionally, Rustad called for changes to the Elections Act, which was authored by BC NDP Premier David Eby in 2019.

“We are making a recommendation that all photo ID issued should have a ‘C’ on it to ensure that the individuals are Canadian citizens,” said Rustad.

“The last recommendation is we actually think there are many people who have voted who may not be Canadian citizens, however, nobody wants to come forward because they are worried of what may happen. I think we must suspend the penalties for a 90-day period to allow people to come forward and explain what happened.”

True North contacted Elections BC to inquire if they were aware of any irregularities or if there were any ongoing investigations into the matter, however, they were not available for contact in time for publication.
