Zulock Case: Attorney for Accused Child Rapist Files Motion to Withdraw

Following the publication of Townhall's explosive four-part investigative series into an alleged suburban LGBTQ pedophile ring near Atlanta, the criminal defense attorney representing the activist gay couple currently facing multiple life sentences for the violent, serial sexual abuse of their adopted 9- and 11-year-old sons has moved to withdraw as legal counsel for one of the married men.

Georgia-based lawyer John E. Haldi filed a motion on Jan. 19 requesting permission to withdraw as 35-year-old accused child rapist Zachary Zulock's counsel of record ahead of a motion hearing scheduled for Wednesday morning. The four-page motion says that Zachary, who has entered a plea of not guilty, is now seeking another attorney as the case is expected to head to trial.

As of this week, Haldi remains the attorney for Zachary's husband, 33-year-old William Zulock, who maintains in a series of jailhouse calls exclusively shared with Townhall that he had "no idea" and "didn't know" about "a lot of the stuff [that] went on."

Zachary initially blamed William for initiating the "routine" alleged child sexual abuse when he was interrogated by police following the July 27 armed raid on the Zulock mansion, Walton County's District Attorney Randy McGinley told the court in September.

McGinley submitted his own motions to sever the Zulocks, who are jointly indicted as co-defendants, at trial and subsequently disqualify Haldi due to an apparent conflict of interest. If severed and limited immunity is granted, Zachary and William can be called upon to testify against each other from the witness stand. It's a move that has left the marital partners in shambles.

"Walton County can go to HELL" for asserting that "we can't have the same lawyer or some BS like that," William, reacting to McGinley's motions, texted a family member from a digital tablet supplied in pre-trial detainment, as Part 4 of Townhall's investigation covered. "Hopefully [Haldi can represent] still both of us," William wrote through an inmate-messaging application. "It would be no point in having two lawyers doing the same thing […] I think its the DA trying to part us from our lawyer," he added.

Haldi informed Zachary that the court is likely to rule in the chief prosecutor's favor, according to new text messages he sent from Barrow County Detention Center. "How do I decide between you two?" Haldi asked Zachary during his last visit to the lock-up.

William had first retained Haldi with a $10,000 down payment and now his side of the family is stuck incurring the services fees that have amassed to approximately $50,000, the relative, who is speaking out to provide a voice for the children, told Townhall.

Zachary has found a lawyer in the meantime who's willing to take on the case, but "he just can't get anyone to pay" for the legal representation, per another family member's knowledge. The wealthy couple's assets were swiftly seized after a judge signed off on a probable cause seizure warrant, and McGinley's office is additionally pursuing a civil complaint to forfeit the pair's property.

Wednesday's courtroom proceeding will take place before Judge Jeffrey L. Foster, the judge presiding over the Zulock case and all related matters, including the respective criminal cases for 27-year-old Hunter Lawless and 25-year-old Luis Vizcarro-Sanchez, whom the Zulocks allegedly solicited to engage in acts of prostitution with their older special-needs adopted son.

Two counts of human trafficking for sexual servitude have since been tacked on to the 17 other child sex crimes Zachary is accused of, according to an order requiring that he be temporarily transferred to Walton County Jail, where William is housed, for the upcoming court date. Both of the former adoptive fathers were already charged with two felony counts of prostituting a minor.

Georgia judge orders limited release of grand jury report on Trump election interference

A Georgia judge on Monday ordered the release of limited portions of a report from a grand jury tasked with reviewing election interference in 2020 as former President Trump sought to reverse his loss in the state.

Fulton County Superior Court Judge Robert McBurney, who is overseeing the grand jury’s work, declined to fully release the grand jury report, which is expected to include charging recommendations.

Instead, he ordered the release of three portions of the report on Thursday.

McBurney’s decision largely sided with an argument from Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis (D), who pledged to soon make charging decisions and said the report’s release could create challenges for future defendants to get a fair trial.

Jurors involved in crafting the report had previously determined it should be released to the public.

“There were no lawyers advocating for any targets of the investigation,” McBurney wrote in the eight-page decision, noting the process is “entirely appropriately – a one-sided exploration.”

“Potential future defendants were not able to present evidence outside the scope of what the district attorney asked them. They were not able to call their own witnesses who might rebut what other State’s witnesses had said and they had no ability to present mitigating evidence. Put differently, there was very limited due process in this process for those who might be named as indictment-worthy in the final report.”

The release will include the introduction and conclusion of the report as well as a section discussing concern that some witnesses may have lied under oath. That section of the report does not identify any witnesses.

McBurney noted the delay ahead of the release is designed to allow Willis to advocate for redactions in any of the sections.

Willis’s case is seen as one of the most promising pathways for an eventual prosecution of Trump, who in a phone call to Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger (R) asked him to “find 11,780 votes, which is one more than we have.”

In a January hearing on the matter, Willis stressed multiple defendants could have their right to a fair trial implicated by the report’s release.

“We have to be mindful of protecting future defendants’ rights. And so what the state does not want to see happen — and don’t think that there’s any way that the court would be able to guarantee — is that if that report was released, there somehow could be arguments made that it impacts the right for later individuals — multiple — to get a fair trial, to have a fair hearing, to be able to be tried in this jurisdiction,” Willis said at the outset of the hearing.

“Decisions are imminent,” she added.

The case could impact a number in Trump’s orbit as well as the former president himself.

William 'Willy' Villalpando called the idea of 'childhood innocence' a 'mythology'

A pre-kindergarten teacher and early childhood professor repeatedly attacked the idea of "childhood innocence" and claimed that early childhood teachers should introduce children to gender ideology at the youngest ages, Fox News Digital found.

William "Willy" Villalpando works at Santa Ana College in California where he teaches early child development. He also indicated on his Instagram that he is a pre-kindergarten educator.

Fox News found documentation that Villalpando worked in the Rialto Unified School District pre-k division from 2016 through at least June 2021, the latest date California updated teacher's records. It was unclear whether Villalpando continued to work at the district for the 2022-23 academic year, and they refused to respond. When Fox News reached out to Villalpando's Rialto district email address it was not returned to sender.

In 2020, Villalpando called the idea of "childhood innocence" an example of "mythology."

"There is a common mythology that children live in this world of pure innocence, and that by introducing or exposing them to the real-world adults are somehow shattering this illusion for them. Therefore, there is a banning of topics and issues that children should not be exposed to, as if they are not experiencing them already."

On another occasion, he said, "I'm tired of the ‘Childhood Innocence’ argument… Stop blaming a phenomenon that doesn't exist."

He went on to attack the idea that children shouldn't be exposed to "sexuality," claiming that "such a view is a very white, Christian, upper-class, cis-gendered, and hetero-centric."

Company Responsible For Ohio Train Derailment Issues List Of Cancer-Causing Substances Released

Norfolk Southern Railroad and the Environmental Protection Agency released a list of chemicals and hazardous materials on Sunday carried by a train that derailed in East Palestine, Ohio.

The derailment, which occurred on February 3, caused a fire that lasted several days. Officials decided to initiate a controlled release of the chemicals to mitigate the risk of an explosion; all residents within one mile of the crash site were told to evacuate, although they were permitted to return to their homes on February 8.

Norfolk Southern provided the EPA with a list of cars affected by the crash and the chemicals they were carrying. The company said all five cars containing vinyl chloride have been “stabilized” after the material was burned by crews, forming massive plumes of dark smoke that were visible in eastern Ohio and western Pennsylvania.

Vinyl chloride is described by the National Cancer Institute as a carcinogen linked to a rare form of liver cancer called hepatic angiosarcoma, as well as lymphoma, leukemia, and various forms of brain and lung cancers. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration only permits exposure of one part per million during an industrial worker’s eight-hour shift.

“If a water supply is contaminated, vinyl chloride can enter household air when the water is used for showering, cooking, or laundry,” the agency said.

One train car containing ethylene glycol monobutyl ether currently has an “unknown status,” according to Norfolk Southern. The highly combustible liquid is used to manufacture paints and varnish; ingestion or skin contact can cause headache, nausea, vomiting, and dizziness, according to a report from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. A second car was carrying isobutylene, a flammable gas that can induce “dizziness, drowsiness, and unconsciousness” when moderate concentrations are inhaled, according to another report from the agency. Norfolk Southern said there are “no signs” of a breach for the car containing the substance.

A third train car was transporting ethylhexyl acrylate, a combustible liquid used to make paints and plastics. The amount of the chemical remaining in the car is “pending,” according to Norfolk Southern. The substance has been identified as a carcinogen in laboratory experiments, according to a report from the National Library of Medicine.

Government regulators and public utilities have expressed concern over chemicals released from the derailment. West Virginia American Water, the largest investor-owned water utility in the state of West Virginia, said in a statement that the company has not detected any change to raw water from its Ohio River intake but has “enhanced its treatment processes” as a “precautionary measure.” No drinking water advisories are currently in place for customers.

Federal investigators said an issue with a rail car axle caused the derailment. Footage obtained by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette showed that the Norfolk Southern train had traveled more than 20 miles with a malfunctioning rail car axle. National Transportation Safety Board Member Michael Graham confirmed during a news conference that there were “preliminary indications of mechanical issues” for the axle, according to a report from CBS Pittsburgh.

Why are governments still promoting “vaccines” and not investigating excess deaths? Have they been affected by vaccine-induced cognitive decline?

Every day, my attention is drawn to efforts to extend the reach of mRNA vaccines. For example, nightly news anchor Mark Steyn of GB News has just been removed to make way for a pro-vaccine, pro-lockdown advocate. Mark was famously asking hard questions about vaccine safety. The CDC and the NHS have included mRNA Covid vaccines in the advised regular schedule of childhood vaccination freeing the providers from any legal liability forever.

I can understand if people feel depressed by these and other trends. Following three years of misleading official pandemic advice fuelled by carefully placed public relations – paid for by commercial pharmaceutical interests and governments – people who are vaccinated feel different and want to keep separate from the unvaccinated. Many believe the unvaccinated are deserving of censure, segregation, and even punishment.

The US Federal government is actually tracking people who are unvaccinated (for any reason other than a medically approved exemption). In other words, the unvaccinated are subject to surveillance and listed as obstinate (or dare I say it—asocial).

This is not a random piece of Federal record-keeping. A paper ‘Estimating the risk reduction of isolation on COVID-19 nonhousehold transmission and severe/critical illness in nonimmune individuals: September to November 2021’ published 8 February 2023 seeks to estimate how many “nonimmune” individuals need to be isolated from society to stop the spread of infectious disease. The results of this paper are obscure even to a careful reader, but the intent is obvious – the authors set out to calculate just how many unvaccinated individuals you need to lock up and for how long to prevent the spread of a disease.

Analysis of recently published research

These sorts of actions and imaginings are completely out of touch with careful analysis of pandemic data genuinely seeking to scientifically work out what happened during the last three years rather than merely pushing the biotech vaccine agenda. A petition presented to the UK Government entitled ‘Investigate UK excess deaths not related to Covid’ received a response last week. The government reply included the following:

OHID analysis shows that, in England, for the week ending 28 October 2022, the leading causes of death contributing to the excess were deaths involving cardiovascular diseases; the highest levels of excess mortality were for deaths involving heart failure (21% higher than expected), and ischaemic heart diseases (17% higher than expected). Deaths involving acute respiratory infections were 16% higher than expected. You can view OHID’s (Office for Health Improvement and Disparities) excess mortality tool HERE.

OHID estimates show that for deaths registered in England during the whole of 2022, deaths involving four conditions were all over 10% higher than expected: heart failure (15% higher), cirrhosis and other liver diseases (14%), diabetes (12%) and ischaemic heart diseases (11%).

The Daily Sceptic, a publication of the UK Free Speech Union, filled in this lamentable oversight with an article ‘Higher Excess Deaths Clearly Linked to Higher Vaccination Rates in England, New Analysis Shows’. The article found:

What are people dying from? The UK government figures suggest heart disease, liver disease, and diabetes were especially at fault. It is just a short step to conclude mRNA vaccination might be causal, after all, myocarditis/pericarditis is a known side effect.

A growing number of Senate Republicans are saying that President Biden and Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) should take defense spending cuts off the table in their negotiation over the debt ceiling.

The Republicans are digging in their heels after receiving a classified briefing on a Chinese spy balloon that floated over sensitive military installations.

“The entire civilized world should recognize that communist China is probably the greatest threat we’ve ever faced, more severe than Soviet Russia was because of its economic integration into the West,” said Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) after receiving a briefing from senior administration officials on the spy balloon. “We should take every step we can to try to reduce our dependency on China [and] try to build stronger military deterrence against them.

“I do not think that we should be talking about cutting the defense budget at all right now. If anything, substantial defense increases,” he said.

As I noted last week, regimists are switching to pushing for war with China now that Ukraine appears to be losing the war.

“Having a strong robust national security is essential to deterring bad behavior,” said Senate Republican Whip John Thune (R-S.D.). “I think it’s OK to try to find savings and do the audits and do all that sort of thing to become more efficient, but just willy-nilly saying we’re going to cut defense I think would be a mistake.”

Sen. Mike Rounds (R-S.D.) said “there is no way that we should be looking at defense cuts right now.”

“We’re probably going to need more and not less with regard to that. The primary responsibility of the Congress of the United States is the defense of our country and this one is a serious threat,” he said of China.

How many people did these "spy balloons" (which they still haven't proven are spy balloons) kill? You'd think millions based off the GOP's hysterics.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), another outspoken opponent of cutting defense funding, said he’s open to cutting wasteful programs within the Pentagon but he wants to redirect those savings to other defense-related priorities.

“I don’t mind reforming the Defense Department and doing away with certain programs. I want to apply it back into the Defense budget and put it in other areas. We need a bigger Navy,” he said.

“I don’t think anybody believes our Navy and our military footprint west of the international dateline is sufficient to deter China,” he said.

The Pentagon bragged about developing their own spy balloons as a "weapon" to surveil China and Russia just last year.

The head of Australia's domestic spy agency says the threat of a terrorist attack by nationalist extremists or conspiracy theorists has receded since governments abandoned lockdowns and other strict COVID-19 control measures.

Last year the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO) dropped the terrorism threat level from "probable" to "possible", with the agency instead ploughing additional resources into growing threats posed by espionage and foreign interference.

The head of ASIO, Mike Burgess, told a Senate estimates hearing this morning that some of the uncertainties created by the COVID-19 pandemic — which in turn fuelled anti-government conspiracy theories against lockdowns and vaccination campaigns — had eased over time.

"The volatility has reduced somewhat, in particular around the COVID [measures], so there's less angst these days. We're not subject to mandates," he said.

"Some of that feeling does live on, but the number of cases we've been looking at, they've reduced significantly."

Mr Burgess previously created headlines when he sounded the alarm over the growing terrorist threat posed by far-right racist and nationalist groups.

He also warned those extremist groups were trying to swell their ranks by recruiting people potentially radicalised by COVID-19 conspiracy theories.

On Monday he told senators that at its peak, right-wing extremism accounted for about half of ASIO's counter-terrorism workload — but that figure had now dropped considerably.

"It did get to 50/50 … but has actually since moderated, so now we're in the territory of 70/30," he said.

"So 70 per cent [are] religiously motivated, and 30 per cent [are] ideologically motivated.

"Most of that is nationalist and racist, violent extremism."

JonBenet Ramsey case: Boulder police respond to unearthed DNA bombshell

An "active investigation continues" into the cold case killing of 6-year-old JonBenet Ramsey, with help from "several private DNA laboratories," police in Boulder, Colorado, said in response to unearthed documents.

On Friday, Fox News Digital reported on an unearthed 1997 DNA test that shows DNA evidence recovered under the girl's fingernails and from her clothes was not a match for members of the family and others close to the household just weeks after the crime.

The document has reemerged as part of a trove of old case files discussed in a forthcoming book on late investigator Lou Smit, "Lou and JonBenet: A Legendary Lawman’s Quest to Solve a Child Beauty Queen’s Murder," by John W. Anderson.

"We recognize that many articles and books have been written about this tragic homicide," Boulder's public information officer, Dionne Waugh, said in a statement. "We have not read this newest book which, apparently, contains allegations from the late 1990s."

According to the author, the findings were given to a Boulder detective roughly three weeks after JonBenet's death – but he waited months before sharing them with prosecutors, and police spent years with the parents under suspicion despite the findings.

Patsy Ramsey reported her 6-year-old daughter missing on the morning of Dec. 26, 1996, in Boulder, Colorado, after discovering a ransom note demanding $118,000 in exchange for her return. John Ramsey found her body later that day in the basement of their home.

An autopsy after JonBenet's death found she died of strangulation and a blow to the head. The Boulder City Medical Examiner reported an 8 1/2-inch fracture on her skull.

The investigation into the unsolved slaying remains active, Waugh said, and police are receiving outside assistance.

"At present, this active investigation continues to receive assistance from federal, state, and local partners," she wrote. "Boulder Police is working with multiple agencies, including the FBI, the District Attorney’s Office, Colorado’s Department of Public Safety, Colorado’s Bureau of Investigation (CBI), and several private DNA laboratories across the country."

Petitioners last year asked Gov. Jared Polis to have the DNA evidence shared with an independent agency so it can be reexamined with modern technology.

John Ramsey, JonBenet's father, has since met with the state's director of public safety, and a new review of the case began in November.

"This cold case review that they’re going to do … at first I didn't know how robust that was going to be, but I’ve heard several people on the team are very experienced homicide detectives," he told Fox News Digital last week.

Boulder police say they've investigated tens of thousands of tips over the years and interviewed more than 1,000 people across 19 states.

Splendora Police Department said the train was heading south when the big rig crossed the tracks and was hit. The 18-wheeler was dragged half a mile down the tracks.

Police said there are no guard arms or lights at this crossing where the crash took place, but that the driver of the truck should have had a clear line of sight to see the train coming.

Views from Air 11 show several cars off of the tracks near the crash. The Splendora Police Department said about 15 cars derailed in the crash.

Hazmat crews are on the scene but there are no leaks from the cars. They are cleaning up some of the spilled diesel fuel from the truck

Police said it could in a total of 15 hours to clear the scene.

I worked for a bulk company in Texas. Tractor trailers hauling chemicals. New trailers since mid 2000's require temp sensors for the abs systems on each bearing set. These corporations have the money to install similar tech. There's no excuse.

In addition to her parents of Dunedin, Christina leaves her fiance', Stephan Pasiewicz of London; her brother and sister-in-law, U.S. Congressman, Ron DeSantis and Casey Black DeSantis of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; her grandmother, Viola DeSantis of Aliquippa, PA; her aunt, Sister Regina Rogers OSU of Boardman; and her uncles, Daniel (Cheryl) DeSantis and James DeSantis of Aliquippa, Steven Matune of Sandusky, OH, and the Rev. Ronald Dion DeSantis (; born September 14, 1978) is an American politician serving as the 46th governor of Florida since January 2019. A member of the Republican Party, DeSantis represented Florida's 6th district in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2013 to 2018.

Born in Jacksonville, DeSantis spent most of his childhood in Dunedin, Florida. He graduated from Yale University and Harvard Law School. As Ohio faces what has been described by many as a chemical “Chernobyl” event, Biden administration Transportation Secretary and failed gay Democratic 2020 Presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg is complaining that there are too many white construction workers.

A train carrying vinyl chloride and other toxic chemicals derailed on February 3 in East Palestine, Ohio, resulting in fires and a massive plume of black smoke that lasted for numerous days and could be seen from several miles around.

Three days after the derailment, emergency crews decided to conduct a “controlled burn” of the dangerous chemicals supposedly in order to prevent a larger and more hazardous explosion.

The controlled burn ultimately caused hydrogen chloride and toxic substances such as phosgene to be released into the surrounding area, prompting the mandatory evacuation of all citizens of East Palestine within a one-mile radius.

NATO to focus on ‘undersea cables and pipelines’

Stoltenberg vows to “prevent and counter threats” after Nord Stream expose blames US and Norway

NATO will set up a new coordinating body to address threats to undersea infrastructure, Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said on Monday. His announcement comes just days after legendary investigative reporter Seymour Hersh said the US and Norway were behind the September explosions on the Nord Stream pipelines under the Baltic Sea.

“Protection of critical undersea infrastructure will also be high on our agenda,” Stoltenberg told reporters in Brussels, following the meeting of NATO defense ministers. The US-led bloc “has been working on this for many years,” Stoltenberg added, “and we are now taking it to the next level.”

A new “coordination cell” will be established at NATO Headquarters to “map our vulnerabilities, and engage with industry,” which will “support our efforts to prevent and counter threats to critical infrastructure, including undersea cables and pipelines,” according to Stoltenberg. He said further measures will be decided at the NATO summit in Vilnius, Lithuania in July.

Stoltenberg, who was the Norwegian prime minister before taking over NATO leadership in 2014, did not address Hersh’s story from last Wednesday. Neither did any of the reporters NATO spokeswoman Oana Lungescu called on.

The Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative journalist had accused the US of ordering the destruction of the pipelines running from Russia to Germany and Norway of helping to carry out the bombing.

The White House denounced it as “utterly false and complete fiction.”

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov pointed to the words of US Under Secretary of State Victoria Nuland to say that Americans were “basically admitting” the pipeline blasts were their doing. Meanwhile, Beijing said that Washington owed the world an explanation.

“If Hersh is telling the truth, what he revealed is clearly unacceptable and must be answered for,” Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said on Friday.

As Hersh noted, both Nuland and US President Joe Biden had made very specific threats against Nord Stream 2 prior to the escalation of hostilities in Ukraine last year. After the blasts, US officials blamed Russia but said the situation presented an “opportunity” for Europe to cut ties with Moscow.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis will be coming to the Valley to show his support for J.D. Vance, the Ohio GOP Senate candidate during a rally in Liberty, but the Florida Governor won't need any time to get acquainted with our community, as his family tree has deep roots here.

DeSantis, a potential 2024 Republican Presidential candidate, was born in Jacksonville, Florida, but his mother -Karen DeSantis- grew up in Poland and his maternal grandparents came to the Valley in the 1930s.

DeSantis's mother attended Youngstown State University in the 1970s where she met fellow student and eventual husband Ron DeSantis, who was from Aliquippa, Pa.

The DeSantis's left the Mahoning Valley and moved to Florida in the 1970s, and their son Ron was born in Jacksonville in 1978.

DeSantis's maternal grandfather, Philip E. Rogers, was born in Edinburgh, Pa. in 1923. He moved to Lowellville in 1936, graduated in 1942 from Lowellville High School, married Carolyn Delisio in 1946, and they moved to Poland in 1954.

He graduated from Youngstown University with a degree in business administration, and a master's degree in public administration. The Rogers children are Karen (DeSantis), Sister Regina Rogers, and Rev. Philip Rogers.

Rogers was the Director of the Board of Elections in Mahoning County from 1960 through 1968, and a member of the board from 1968 until 1972. He became a special assistant to the Ohio Secretary of State during Gov. James A. Rhodes's administration in 1968 and 1969.

According to his obituary published in The Vindicator, Rogers worked in the political science department at YSU, was also the assistant to the Vice President for financial affairs from 1969 through 1974 and director of classified personnel before retiring in 1982.

A 40-year member of the Mahoning County Republican Party committee, and was the GOP chairman from 1968 to 1971.

Rogers died in December of 1997, but the Florida Governor has family still living in the Valley, including his aunt Sister Regina Rogers, a Councilor at the Ursuline Sisters house in Youngstown, and his uncle Philip Rogers, a priest at Christ Our Savior Parish in Struthers and previously with St. Charles Parish in Boardman.

Dr. Bill Binning, former chairman of the political science department at YSU and former Mahoning County Republican Party chairman told 21 News that Philip Rogers was the county GOP chairman when he moved to Youngstown in 1970 and added "We talked politics."

Binning said he first learned of the Florida Ron DeSantis connection to the Valley in 2012 while on a trip to Italy with Father Rogers, Sister Regina Rogers and DeSantis's mother, Karen, whose son she told him was making a run for congress in Florida 6th District in 2012.

DeSantis is scheduled to speak Aug. 19 at the event beginning at 7:30 p.m. at the Metroplex Expo Center in Liberty.

NASA and its international partners have approved the crew for Axiom Space’s second private astronaut mission to the International Space Station, Axiom Mission 2 (Ax-2).

Axiom Space’s Director of Human Spaceflight and former NASA astronaut Peggy Whitson will command the privately funded mission. John Shoffner of Knoxville, Tennessee, will serve as pilot. The two mission specialists, Ali Alqarni and Rayyanah Barnawi from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), are members of the inaugural Saudi national astronaut program. They are flying through an arrangement between KSA and Axiom Space.

“Enabling more people to go to space is an important component of NASA’s continuing efforts to grow the low-Earth orbit economy,” said Angela Hart, manager of NASA’s Commercial Low-Earth Orbit Development Program. “Private astronaut missions are a key component to enable a successful transition to a model of commercially owned and operated platforms in low-Earth orbit. I appreciate the commitment of our International Space Station and commercial partners to help us achieve this future.”

The Ax-2 crew will launch from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida aboard a SpaceX Dragon spacecraft and travel to the space station. Once docked, the private astronauts plan to spend 10 days aboard the orbiting laboratory implementing a full mission of science, outreach, and commercial activities. The mission, targeted for launch in spring 2023, will be the first private space mission to include both private astronauts and astronauts representing foreign governments, as well as the first private mission commanded by a woman.

“Axiom Space’s second private astronaut mission to the International Space Station cements our mission of expanding access to space worldwide and supporting the growth of the low-Earth orbit economy as we build Axiom Station,” said Michael Suffredini, president and CEO of Axiom Space. “Ax-2 moves Axiom Space one step closer toward the realization of a commercial space station in low-Earth orbit and enables us to build on the legacy and achievements of the station, leveraging the benefits of microgravity to better life on Earth.”

Whitson will become the first female commander of a private space mission, adding to her prior accomplishments, including as NASA’s chief astronaut and the first female commander of the space station. In addition, she will add to her standing record for the longest cumulative time in space by a NASA astronaut.

“I’m honored to be heading back to the station for the fourth time, leading this talented Ax-2 crew on their first mission,” said Whitson. “This is a strong and cohesive team determined to conduct meaningful scientific research in space and inspire a new generation about the benefits of microgravity. It’s a testament to the power of science and discovery to unify and build international collaboration.”

Shoffner, a businessman, has always had an interest in space, the stars, and flying, becoming a pilot at the age of 17 and since amassing than 8,500 flight hours and earning ratings for multiple aircraft types. He also is an advocate for science, technology engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) education.

The first private astronaut mission to the International Space Station, Axiom Mission 1 (Ax-1), launched April 8, 2022, with four private astronauts who spent 17 days in orbit working on 26 science payloads aboard the station and conducting more than 30 STEAM educational and public outreach engagements. The crew splashed down off the coast of Florida on April 25, 2022, to conclude the mission.

Private astronaut missions to the space station are a precursor to privately funded commercial space stations as part of NASA’s efforts to develop a thriving low-Earth orbit ecosystem and marketplace. NASA is currently reviewing proposals for the third and fourth private astronaut missions to the space station.

Satellites will facilitate the sharing of intelligence data between commercial and national systems

NATO will launch a new “virtual network” comprisingnational and commercial satellites, Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg revealed in a press conference on Monday ahead of a meeting of NATO defense ministers.

“This will improve our intelligence and surveillance. And support NATO missions and operations,” he said, adding that it would allow for “better navigation, communication, and early warning of missile launches.”

The move comes several months after the Russian Foreign Ministry warned that Western commercial satellites being used in the Ukraine conflict are valid military targets.

Stoltenberg acknowledged that the new network – as well as the much-needed replenishment of member nations’ weapons stores after a year of fighting in Ukraine – would requireincreased military spendingfrom those nations. The day’s meeting would thus include discussions of how to “maintain and step up defense spending across the alliance,” he said.

In addition to “stand[ing] with Ukraine for as long as it takes,”he hinted at an expansion of NATO’s efforts in Eastern Europe, explaining that “ministers will also address how to step up our practical support for Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia and Moldova,” whom he called “valued partners which face Russian threats.”

While none of the three named countries are NATO members, the bloc has encouraged them to cozy up to it as the conflict in Ukraine drags on.

Moldova received EU candidate status in June, Bosnia in December, and Georgia applied for EU membership in March, though none have officially applied for NATO membership.

Russia has adamantly opposed NATO expansion, viewing the military alliance’s efforts to encroach on its borders and place missiles on its western flank as a direct threat. Moscow has sought a promise from Kiev that it will never join the bloc, though such a pledge has not been forthcoming.

The Knesset’s Constitution, Law, and Justice Committee on Monday approved in first reading two of the bills proposed in the judicial reform, with nine lawmakers voting in support of the legislation and seven opposing it.

The two clauses will change the composition of the judge selection committee, and restrict the Supreme Court from reviewing and changing Israel's basic laws.

'New' SEC rules target corporate insider trading-but lack any 'teeth' as usual

For the last two decades, officers and directors at U.S. public companies seeking to trade illicitly on inside information had an almost infallible get-out-of-jail-free card.

All they had to do was use prearranged trading plans when they bought and sold their companies’ shares. The odds the government would target them for enforcement actions were slim. (and will remain that way until Gary and his hacks at the SEC stop settling all the Financial cases) It was an unintended consequence of a regulation adopted in 2000 called Rule 10b5-1 that academic research shows was abused by some the bulk of those (FIFY) executives.

That regime is about to change…(no it won't-it will still be the wild-west-ENFORCE the rules don't just have them) A new Securities and Exchange Commission rule promises to remove many of the loopholes that allowed corporate insiders to hide behind these trading plans. For most U.S.-listed companies, new disclosure requirements will kick in April 1-(and again another example of making it look like the SEC is doing something-see below)

Among the highlights: Officers and directors will have to wait at least 90 days after starting or modifying a 10b5-1 plan before they can trade under the arrangement. The forms used to report their trades will include mandatory checkbox disclosures showing whether they were using such a plan, as well as the plan’s adoption date. The companies, too, will have to disclose the substance of 10b5-1 plans in their quarterly and annual reports. "Before the change occurred, you could have an executive utilize a $100 million 10b5-1 plan, and there would be no trace in public disclosures that they were utilizing such a plan," said Daniel Taylor, an accounting professor at the University of Pennsylvania and the co-author of a 2021 study on 10b5-1 abuses that was cited in the SEC’s final rule.

Some insiders were selling shares less than a month after adopting their plans, sometimes even the same day (plenty examples posted of this in QR over the last 5 years(, or adopting and initiating trading plans right before earnings announcements. Another trick has been to adopt multiple 10b5-1 plans and later selectively cancel the ones that wouldn’t work to the insider’s benefit. Potential abuses of 10b5-1 plans were the subject of a Wall Street Journal article in June that was cited in the SEC’s final rule. Under the old rule, corporate insiders were supposed to set up the plans only when they weren’t aware of any material, nonpublic information. Corporate insiders didn’t have to disclose that they were relying on such plans when they reported their trades, although many did anyway. The companies didn’t have to disclose the plans’ existence. The dearth of information often left investors wondering whether a top executive’s well-timed trades were too good to be legal.

Just as the old rule begot new manipulations, the new rule won’t eliminate them all. The SEC noted concern that some insiders might time market-moving disclosures around insiders’ prescheduled trading dates, delaying the release of bad news until after scheduled sales or accelerating the release of positive news so it comes out beforehand.

The SEC said its new rule addresses this by requiring that all users of 10b5-1 plans "must act in good faith." Mr. Taylor said that could be hard to enforce. "If the executive knows they have a scheduled sale and alters the timing of a bad-news disclosure to be one or two days after the sale, it may be very difficult for regulators to prove that the timing was altered for the purpose of his sale," he said.

An SEC advisory committee had recommended requiring more timely disclosures by companies of 10b5-1 plan adoptions and changes—within four days, rather than waiting for quarterly reports—which could help make manipulations easier to spot.The SEC declined.

The same committee also recommended requiring all U.S.-listed companies to follow the same insider-trading reporting requirements and use all the same disclosure forms. Under current rules, those filing requirements don’t apply to many overseas companies that trade on U.S. exchanges. Under the new rules, insiders at foreign filers still won’t have to follow the same disclosure rules for stock sales and purchases as insiders at U.S.-based companies.

Republican Utah Governor Spencer Cox said he would prefer one of the party’s governors to be the presidential nominee in the 2024 election cycle.

In an interview with NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Cox said “I prefer governors. That’s the easy call for me.” Cox appeared for the interview alongside Democrat New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy.

Cox then spoke to a list of Republican governors that he believes would be viable options for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination. Cox said New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu is “fantastic,” and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has a “great record.” Cox also said former Republican Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson is “a good friend.”

“I like Republican governors,” Cox said.

As NBC host Chuck Todd threw out names like South Dakota Republican Gov. Kristi Noem and former Republican South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, Cox said they’re “all fantastic.”

“So what you’re saying is you’ll take a governor?” Todd asked.

“I would love a governor,” Cox replied. The Utah Republican added that he would take a Republican governor over a lawmaker in Congress “every day of the week.”

Some influential donors have suggested DeSantis as a potential Republican presidential candidate in 2024, even over former President Donald Trump. In July, tech billionaire Elon Musk said Trump would be “too old” to run in 2024, but that DeSantis would “easily win” in a race against President Joe Biden.

In November, Haley said she was also considering a 2024 presidential run, about a week after Trump announced his 2024 candidacy, despite making a commitment in 2021 not to run if Trump does.

Governors ‘Have To Get Stuff Done’

Cox repeatedly endorsed the idea of a governor running for president after the National Governors Association met in Washington for the weekend. Murphy is the chair of the association, while Cox is the vice chair.

“We passionately disagree and we’re best friends,” Cox said of his working relationship with Murphy.

During the interview, Cox provided some hints as to his reasoning for preferring governors over other political officeholders, suggesting governors are more focused on finding solutions that eschew the extremes of the respective political parties.

“I think there is a choice between the extremes and the exhausted majority, and that’s the conversation we’ve been having this week with Republican governors and Democrat governors coming together,” Cox said. “We’re the people who have to get stuff done.”

The weird just continues to get more and more weird. According to Fox News, the “object” targeted over Lake Huron was engaged by an F-16, firing a “sidewinder missile to attack the target.” However, the first missile missed the target and the military have no idea where it landed. Yikes.

The Air Force F-16 jet was using Sidewinder missiles to attack the target. “The first Sidewinder heat-seeking missile missed the target,” one official said.

It wasn’t clear where the missile that missed ultimately landed. The second missile took down the target. Each of the missiles costs more than $400,000.

None of the debris from the object has been found in the lake, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said Monday. The Defense Department, or DOD, said President Biden, just before 2:42 p.m., directed an F-16 to fire an AIM-9x missile to shoot down an airborne object flying at nearly 20,000 feet over Lake Huron. In alittle covered lawsuit by the group New Yorkers For Religious Liberty, Inc. et al -VS- The City Of New York, something very odd has surfaced.

After imposing the vaccine mandate in 2021, New York City fired the unvaccinated workers then sent the FBI the names and fingerprints of the non-compliant city employees to register within the justice files of the federal government.

New York City has recently abandoned the vaccine requirement {SEE HERE}, but the lawyers for the plaintiffs are continuing the lawsuit against the city because employment in the private sector is now impacted because the names of the unvaccinated are flagged in justice files within state and federal criminal justice records.

Pre-employment background checks now “flag with problem codes,” tagging the applicant as a potential criminal risk simply for being unvaccinated.

The stunning revelation about the FBI holding fingerprint files of the unvaccinated surfaced in court arguments from this lawsuit. It seems like something out of a dystopian novel, but the reality is very serious. I have not found any media reporting on the issue; however, CTH will highlight the raw source information so you can see for yourself.

It is remarkable to realize the scope of how the various government systems were so committed to the vaccine requirement, they were willing to register the names and fingerprints of unvaccinated Americans for future targeting.Few things leave me speechless… This does.
