The investment arms of the CIA and Google are both backing a company that monitors the web in real time – and says it uses that information to predict the future.

The company is called Recorded Future, and it scours tens of thousands of websites, blogs and Twitter accounts to find the relationships between people, organizations, actions and incidents – both present and still-to-come. In a white paper, the company says its temporal analytics engine "goes beyond search" by "looking at the 'invisible links' between documents that talk about the same, or related, entities and events."

The idea is to figure out for each incident who was involved, where it happened and when it might go down. Recorded Future then plots that chatter, showing online "momentum" for any given event.

"The cool thing is, you can actually predict the curve, in many cases," says company CEO Christopher Ahlberg, a former Swedish Army Ranger with a PhD in computer science.

Which naturally makes the 16-person Cambridge, Massachusetts, firm attractive to Google Ventures, the search giant's investment division, and to In-Q-Tel, which handles similar duties for the CIA and the wider intelligence community.

It's not the very first time Google has done business with America's spy agencies. Long before it reportedly enlisted the help of the National Security Agency to secure its networks, Google sold equipment to the secret signals-intelligence group. In-Q-Tel backed the mapping firm Keyhole, which was bought by Google in 2004 – and then became the backbone for Google Earth.

This appears to be the first time, however, that the intelligence community and Google have funded the same startup, at the same time. No one is accusing Google of directly collaborating with the CIA. But the investments are bound to be fodder for critics of Google, who already see the search giant as overly cozy with the U.S. government, and worry that the company is starting to forget its "don't be evil" mantra.

The P E A C E Plan is a humanitarian development program for churches and an evangelical Christian mission from Saddleback Church in Lake Forest in California in the United States.

History

The P.E.A.C.E. Plan has origins in the reading of an article on orphans of HIV/AIDS in Africa by Kay, the wife of Baptist pastor Rick Warren and a meeting in 2003 of the couple with a pastor of a township of Johannesburg in South Africa. [1] The program was founded in the same year by the Saddleback Church and Warren to combat five development challenges. [2] [3] For 18 months, pilot programs were tested with twinning of villages with small church groups. [4] In 2005, the program was established in Rwanda which was the first permanent partner. [5][6]

egocentric leadership;

illiteracy and lack of education.

The five objectives of the program are

Plant or support churches for reconciliation: Support or plant churches by providing resources to combat racism and injustice.

Equip church leaders: Provide leadership training.

Assisting the poor: Support savings groups, business projects, and orphans.

Caring for the sick: Support access to clean water, sanitation, mental health care, people living with the HIV/AIDS.

Educate the next generation: Support literacy programs in English.

In the fight against poverty in Africa, the program prioritizes the maintenance of contact of AIDS orphans with their communities by entrusting them to host families and avoids building orphanages. [11]

Critics

In 2009, a study by the National University of Rwanda noted that the health component of the program, in Karongi District in Rwanda, had certain weaknesses, including the lack of cooperation between the churches of different names, lack of staff to manage outcome evaluation data, and reluctance to collaborate with secular groups (governments, NGOs, universities). Who Benefitted From This Chaos?

Two years ago on this day, I posted a piece that was very hard to write. It concerned precisely who was benefiting from the lockdowns, masking, and all that was associated with it, including school and business closures and travel restrictions.

As much as we would all prefer for everyone to be concerned about big issues like public health and human rights, it’s sadly the case that industrial interests (and even ruling-class evildoers) sometimes prevail over both.

Obviously, most people all over the world have lost so much over three years, not only health and income but also hope. It’s tragic. Meanwhile, many others seem to have made out like bandits during the biggest transfer of wealth in the shortest time in the history of humanity.

Many groups and sectors had a kind of hankering for a pandemic. They turned a widespread and mostly manageable pathogen—doctor/patient relationships and reasonable cautions on the part of the vulnerable—and converted it into the basis for a global panic of compulsion and coercion that overthrew centuries of progress in law and liberty.

Let’s just go through the list of beneficiaries I first compiled two years ago.

1. The tech companies that became so enraptured with the digital world—and we can include online retailers in this—that they forgot all the people who cannot and do not want to live entirely outside the physical world. To be sure, many of these high flying companies are now coming back to earth thanks to higher interest rates. Even Zoom may be falling on hard times. To which I say: Schadenfreude.

2. The pharmaceutical companies with hundreds of billions of investment in labs and distribution circles that wanted to ply their wares in the midst of emergencies, in addition to the PCR testing industry, not to mention mask and ventilator makers and so many other grifting companies in this space. They not only gain from tremendous subsidies and indemnification from damages; they even got governments to conscript their customer base.

3. Public health intellectuals, who for at least a decade and a half had fallen for the romance of computer modeling, were itching to try out a new method for disease mitigation. They must have gotten quite a kick out of watching the experiment tried out in real time. Speaking of: we haven’t heard from these people in a very long time. They seem conveniently very quiet. Notice how the prophets of doom who were all over the news three years ago, with their magic ability to see the future with precision, have completely vanished?

4. The mega-billionaire Bill Gates found himself vexed by computer viruses that were wrecking his Windows operating system and thereby developed a passion for blocking viruses in general, while failing to understand the difference between biology and computer hardware. He seems to have done very well for himself, not only with his investments but now with his new book telling us how he will single-handedly change the path of the global climate.

5. Government officials certainly had a field day trying out new uses of power. My goodness, they even got their mitts on social media, scripting who gets to speak and who cannot. The national security state hasn’t had this much fun since the Cold War. It was, in short, the most successful ramp up of government power the world over in modern times or maybe ever. Disease panic proved more advantageous to them than ever war and economic depression.

Emails Show National Archives Secretly Coordinated with Biden’s Lawyers to Retrieve Classified Docs from Penn Biden Center Before Midterm Elections

The National Archives on Friday released 74 pages of emails showing an Archives lawyer coordinating with President Joe Biden’s attorneys to secretly retrieve classified materials from the Penn Biden Center before the 2022 midterm elections.

According to House oversight Chair James Comer (R-KY), the Archives was previously instructed by either the White House or the Department of Justice (DOJ) to hide initial revelations of the Biden classified document scandal from the American people.

In addition, the establishment media reported at least three times that Biden and the DOJ agreed to hide the scandal from public view with likely no plans to disclose it until the scandal was leaked to CBS News on January 9, weeks after the initial trove was found by Biden’s personal lawyers November 2.

The emails released Friday due to a Freedom of Information Act request filed by Bloomberg, show the Archives secretly coordinating with and accommodating Biden’s personal attorneys to retrieve classified records. The emails also show questions were raised about whether classified materials were also stored in Boston and Philadelphia.

The initial reason or cause for the search at the Penn Biden Center by Biden’s attorneys remains unknown.

The emails indicate Biden’s personal attorneys and Archives lawyer Gary Stern had a “conversation” as early as November 4 about the classified scandal.

On November 7, one day before the midterm elections, Stern emailed Biden’s personal lawyers Bob Bauer and Pat Moore to arrange a time to secretly collect materials in a “US Gov van” from the Penn Biden Center in Washington, DC.

“Bob/Pat, following our conversation on Friday, we would like to make arrangements for our staff to come back to the DC PennBiden Center space to assess the remaining boxes and take custody of whichever ones we deem appropriate for further review,” Stern wrote Bauer and Moore.

A second email from November 7 shows more accommodation from the Archives. Stern asked Biden’s lawyers if personnel from the Archives could return to the Penn Biden Center “to assess the remaining boxes and take custody of whichever ones we deem appropriate for further review.”

Bauer said the Archives could return and pick up more documents the next day, and noted that he was “also currently checking to determine whether there are any similar materials in the Pennsylvania Penn-Biden space, and we will report back to you today.”

Stern also told Moore to ensure the boxes of materials were kept in a secure location. “Please ensure that the boxes in your office in Boston remain secure in a locked space and are not accessed by anyone,” he said in relation to the Boston location.

The emails come after the Archives failed to provide information about the document scandal to Comer before the January 24 deadline. Comer called the missed deadline “very disappointing.”

Comer has also said the Archives was previously instructed by either the White House or the DOJ to hide initial revelations of the Biden classified document scandal from the American people.

“There are only two people that could have given those orders, and that’s either the Department of Justice with [Attorney General] Merrick Garland or the White House with Joe Biden,” Comer told Fox News.

“I don’t think we would know about these documents had it not been for investigative reporting, so we want to know why the administration wasn’t transparent sooner,” Comer said.

'SOROS' Is Spelled In ALL CAPS

A notorious Ukraine biolab revealed that it received funding from the “SOROS Foundation” in a company document obtained by NATIONAL FILE. The Mechnikov Anti-Plague Research Institute in Odessa, Ukraine is located at the spot of an old secretive Soviet biological weapons plant. The Institute is now under the banner of the Ukraine Ministry of Health. Then-senator Barack Obama also announced a deal in 2005 to fund the Institute, according to records. The Institute handles deadly microbes and also works on developing vaccines, and it has sparked concern that it be used to supply bioterrorism in the region.

The “Ukrainian I.I. Mechnikov Anti-Plague Research Institute in Odessa, Ukraine (MINISTRY OF HEALTH)” reported “SOROS Foundation” funding, with “SOROS” in capital letters. The document is marked as having been produced by the Institute, with Institute staff listed as contacts.

Progressive billionaire George Soros’ Open Society Foundations is officially known as the “Soros Foundation” in some parts of the world including at the foundation’s offices in Almaty in Kazakhstan, Chisinau in Moldova, and Bishkek in Kyrgyzstan. George Soros’ family members also have foundations that use the name Soros.

There were safety problems and problematic handling of deadly microbes at the Odessa location, and NBC News even reported on the safety concerns back in 2005 during the Bush administration. The plant has a reportedly “deadly legacy” and has sparked fear that its pathogens could be used for black-market bioterrorism. Of course, then-Illinois senator Barack Obama and a Republican senator announced an agreement to fund the Mechnikov lab during the Bush administration.

“The Institute has strong collaborative research connections with organizations from around the world, and it receives financial support from a variety of international organizations including STCU, SOROS Foundation, Civilian Research and Development Foundation, NEDA and the University of London,” the document states.

Officials with the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) confirmed an exclusive Global News report Saturday that a “high-altitude airborne object” has been detected over northern Canada.

Global News reported Saturday, citing three security sources, that NORAD was monitoring one or two more objects that may be potential spy balloons.

Within minutes of publication, NORAD confirmed in a statement that they “have positively identified a high-altitude airborne object over Northern Canada.”

“While we cannot discuss specifics related to these activities at this time, please note that NORAD conducts sustained, dispersed operations in the defence of North America through one or all three NORAD regions,” said Maj. Olivier Gallant, a spokesperson for NORAD, in a statement to Global News.

Gallant added that military aircraft “are currently operating from Alaska and Canada in support of (NORAD) activities.”

Coalition heads: Netanyahu impeachment amounts to military coup

The heads of the coalition parties condemned the debate surrounding the possible impeachment of PM Netanyahu in an open letter.

The heads of the coalition parties published a statement on Saturday which strongly condemned the discussions in the High Court of Justice about a possible impeachment of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

"The heads of the coalition parties strongly reject the illegitimate discussion in the High Court regarding the 'impeachment' of the Prime Minister," the heads wrote. "This is an illegal attempt to oust a sitting prime minister, which is no different from a military coup. No judicial entity, including the High Court, has even a fraction of legal authority for such an action. Only the people will elect the prime minister.

"And only the people, through their representatives in the Knesset, will decide whether to terminate his term. The people and their representatives will never accept a discussion in the courts about the possibility of a coup. They will never accept an illegal judicial annulment of the elections and the sovereignty of the people. Harming the Israeli democracy is an act that has a black flag flying over it, even when it is done under the cover of legal robes," the letter concluded.

The letter was signed by Yariv Levin (Likud), Aryeh Deri (Shas), Bezalel Smotrich (Religious Zionist Party), Itamar Ben-Gvir (Otzma Yehudit), Yitzhak Goldknopf and Moshe Gafni (United Torah Judaism) and Avi Maoz (Noam).

Discussions about impeachment

At the end of January, it was reported that the A-G was considering impeaching PM Netanyahu after the NGO Movement for Quality Government in Israel petitioned the High Court. The letter by the coalition heads comes as a direct response to a High Court order stating that the PM and his A-G have to respond to the petition by next month.

Opposition leader MK Yair Lapid responded to the letter, saying that "24 hours after a terrible attack that claimed the lives of two children and another young man, and after another rocket at the residents of the south from the Gaza Strip, what do the detached coalition leaders choose to deal with? The Prime Minister's legal problems.

"More than anything else this proves why a prime minister with indictments and ministers who are convicted felons cannot continue to serve. Because they are busy only with themselves and with their personal interests. I suggest to the heads of the coalition to stop the crazy legislation and start dealing with the State of Israel," Lapid said.

"The Movement for the Quality of Government rejects with disgust the announcement of the coalition leaders, said the Movement for Quality Government in Israel. "Some of these party leaders are convicted criminals who do not recognize the supremacy of the rule of law and do not recognize the fact that the Basic Law: The Government determines the mechanism of the impeachment of the prime minister and does not even recognize the authority of the Supreme Court to decide on these issues, as they did in the case of the convicted criminal, Aryeh Deri."

"[Netanyahu] is in a sharp conflict of interest both personally and institutionally and his actions to completely destroy the justice system are better evidence than a thousand witnesses for the need to immediately impeach him," the statement concluded.

"Two children and a 20-year-old man are murdered in an attack, alerts in the south, terrorism is rampant and the heads of the coalition once again sign a letter of loyalty, not to the state, but to Netanyahu," wrote Labor Chairwoman MK Merav Michaeli on Twitter. "This government belongs to politicians who only see themselves and work only for themselves. So much detachment and so much damage."

London is quietly planning to boost cooperation with Brussels in defense, migration and the economy, officials told the agency

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has privately asked members of his cabinet to work out ways of rebuilding connections with the EU that had been severed after Brexit in 2020, government sources have told Bloomberg.

Plans are currently being put together at 10 Downing Street to boost ties between London and Brussels in such areas as defense, migration and the economy, including trade, energy and international standards, the agency reported on Saturday.

According to British ministers, diplomats and officials, who all spoke on condition of anonymity, the rapprochement is being prepared in order to compensate for the fallout of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, in which London positions itself among the prime backers of the Kiev authorities.

In the coming days, Sunak’s government is hoping to announce a solution to the longstanding dispute with the EU over post-Brexit trading arrangements for Northern Ireland. London’s plan is to capitalize on this development and make it the basis for further improving ties with the 27-member bloc.

Bloomberg pointed out that by moving in this direction, the PM is risking causing anger among the anti-EU lawmakers from his ruling Conservative Party. Another challenge for Sunak would be overcoming the skepticism of European leaders, who got tired of top British politicians using the bloc as a "punch bag for their domestic audience" since the Brexit vote in 2016, it added.

One of the sources assured Bloomberg that the alleged turn towards Europe didn’t mean that Brexit was a mistake but was merely a reflection of the changing geopolitical situation.

According to another official, Sunak’s subordinates were able to persuade the Prime Minister, who has been in office since late October, that in the current reality of "a more dangerous world, rising authoritarianism (like the UK) and protectionism,"closer cooperation with allies was absolutely essential for the UK.

Achieving this would require Britain to give up on its "madman strategy" of resisting the EU, in favor of a stable relationship with the bloc as critical friends, he said. By standing together, London and Brussels would be able to withstand economic turbulence and threats posed by Russia and China more effectively, the source explained.

Serbia may soon be forced to sanction Russia – Vucic

Western pressure on Belgrade will drastically increase as the Ukraine conflict escalates, the Serbian president said

The moment is approaching when Serbia will have no choice but to give in to Western demands to sanction its long time friend Russia, its President Aleksandar Vucic has warned.

In an interview with Prva broadcaster on Friday, Vucic saidhe expects “a major escalation” in the conflict in Ukraine over the next six months. The fighting to date will feel like “almost nothing, compared to what’s coming,” he warned.

This situation “will affect our country as the pressure on Belgrade, in terms of its relations with Russia, will become two or three times tougher – despite already being very strong now,” the president said.

Sanctioning Moscow over its military operation in Ukraine and recognizing the independence of the breakaway province of Kosovo have been singled out by Brussels as key conditions for Belgrade’s bid to join the EU.

Vucic, who has been rejecting both demands for months, now says the moment may eventually come when Belgrade would have to join the EU’s curbs on Moscow.

“Let us push like this as long as we can, I will know when the moment is right, and I will not hide anything from people. That moment [when Serbia sanctions Russia] has been approaching for a long time, I am afraid that it’s not even months away,” he said.

The Serbian president revealed that he used to believe that the West, which is backing the Kiev government with weapons, funds and intelligence, was getting the upper hand in Ukraine. However, “at this moment, it’s no longer entirely clear who is winning in Ukraine,” he added.

Moscow’s chances of succeeding have been boosted by the fact that there is now “unity”among the Russian people regarding the conflict, especially after the announcement by Berlin and some other countries last month that German-made Leopard tanks would be supplied to Kiev, he said.

According to Vucic, it’ll be “difficult” for Serbia no matter who prevails in Ukraine. “The West doesn’t want a country allied with Russia in the middle of Europe. On the other hand, Russia doesn’t want to lose everything it has in the Balkans,” he said.

That’s why Belgrade remains among the few international players who speak about the need for a diplomatic solution to the crisis, but“no one is allowed to mention peace anymore,” he stated.

A toxic compound, known as NDMA, that doesn’t belong anywhere near medicine, was first discovered in 3 popular blood pressure medications (valsartan, irbesartan and losartan) in 2018. The FDA issued an alert and wrote a complaint letter to the raw materials supplier to Big Pharma companies.

It turns out the medications follow the very common pattern of being made in India with raw ingredients coming from China. They are then sold by the big companies for obscenely high prices to U.S. consumers. (source)

More recently, NDMA contamination provoked a nationwide recall of the popular heartburn medication Zantac and all its generic versions.

And then metformin, one of the world’s most widely prescribed drugs, used to treat and prevent Type 2 diabetes and PCOS, manage antipsychotic-induced weight gain, and treat gestational diabetes and female infertility, was found to be contaminated with NDMA!

I am going to assume many people still have no idea, therefore this is my PSA.

Emails Show National Archives Secretly Coordinated with Biden’s Lawyers to Retrieve Classified Docs from Penn Biden Center Before Midterm Elections

The National Archives on Friday released 74 pages of emails showing an Archives lawyer coordinating with President Joe Biden’s attorneys to secretly retrieve classified materials from the Penn Biden Center before the 2022 midterm elections.

According to House oversight Chair James Comer (R-KY), the Archives was previously instructed by either the White House or the Department of Justice (DOJ) to hide initial revelations of the Biden classified document scandal from the American people.

In addition, the establishment media reported at least three times that Biden and the DOJ agreed to hide the scandal from public view with likely no plans to disclose it until the scandal was leaked to CBS News on January 9, weeks after the initial trove was found by Biden’s personal lawyers November 2.

The emails released Friday due to a Freedom of Information Act request filed by Bloomberg, show the Archives secretly coordinating with and accommodating Biden’s personal attorneys to retrieve classified records. The emails also show questions were raised about whether classified materials were also stored in Boston and Philadelphia.

The initial reason or cause for the search at the Penn Biden Center by Biden’s attorneys remains unknown.

The emails indicate Biden’s personal attorneys and Archives lawyer Gary Stern had a “conversation” as early as November 4 about the classified scandal.

On November 7, one day before the midterm elections, Stern emailed Biden’s personal lawyers Bob Bauer and Pat Moore to arrange a time to secretly collect materials in a “US Gov van” from the Penn Biden Center in Washington, DC.

“Bob/Pat, following our conversation on Friday, we would like to make arrangements for our staff to come back to the DC PennBiden Center space to assess the remaining boxes and take custody of whichever ones we deem appropriate for further review,” Stern wrote Bauer and Moore.

A second email from November 7 shows more accommodation from the Archives. Stern asked Biden’s lawyers if personnel from the Archives could return to the Penn Biden Center “to assess the remaining boxes and take custody of whichever ones we deem appropriate for further review.”

Bauer said the Archives could return and pick up more documents the next day, and noted that he was “also currently checking to determine whether there are any similar materials in the Pennsylvania Penn-Biden space, and we will report back to you today.”

Stern also told Moore to ensure the boxes of materials were kept in a secure location. “Please ensure that the boxes in your office in Boston remain secure in a locked space and are not accessed by anyone,” he said in relation to the Boston location.

The emails come after the Archives failed to provide information about the document scandal to Comer before the January 24 deadline. Comer called the missed deadline “very disappointing.”

Comer has also said the Archives was previously instructed by either the White House or the DOJ to hide initial revelations of the Biden classified document scandal from the American people.

“There are only two people that could have given those orders, and that’s either the Department of Justice with [Attorney General] Merrick Garland or the White House with Joe Biden,” Comer told Fox News.

“I don’t think we would know about these documents had it not been for investigative reporting, so we want to know why the administration wasn’t transparent sooner,” Comer said.

During his testimony at the House Oversight Committee’s Wednesday hearing on Twitter, former Twitter Deputy General Counsel and ex-FBI lawyer James Baker claimed he “urged caution” in regards to the Hunter Biden laptop story, citing the documents publicly disclosed in the Twitter Files as support.

Yet the Twitter Files reveal Baker’s insistence that the October 2020 New York Post story was a violation of Twitter policy, author and independent journalist Michael Shellenberger noted. Baker’s “caution” was exercised on the side of censorship, stating that it remained “reasonable” to assume the Biden laptop materials might have been hacked, even if more facts were needed for a definitive answer, according to a Google Doc obtained by Shellenberger.

“I’ve seen some reliable cybersecurity folks question the authenticity of the emails in another way (i.e., that there is no metadata pertaining to them that has been released and the formatting looks like they could be complete fabrications),” Baker wrote in an Oct. 14 email.

Baker also denied knowing about the FBI’s possession of the Hunter Biden laptop.

Baker, who played a significant role in the FBI’s Crossfire Hurricane investigation prior to his resignation from the bureau in 2018 and came under Department of Justice investigation for allegedly leaking information to the media in 2019, was fired from Twitter in December for possibly holding back documents relating to the company’s handling of the Hunter Biden laptop story.

“In light of concerns about Baker’s possible role in suppression of information important to the public dialogue, he was exited from Twitter today,” CEO Elon Musk tweeted in December.

Responding to questions from Republican Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan, Baker also denied communicating with the FBI about the laptop story.

“Did you talk to the FBI about the Hunter Biden laptop story prior to that day or after that day?” asked Jordan.

“Sitting here today, I don’t recall speaking to the FBI at all about the Hunter Biden matter,” Baker said.

Baker could not be reached for comment.

When asked why Trump seemed so admiring of Putin, particularly his “strength,” Hill said, “I don’t want to suggest that Trump is emulating Putin. Trump is his own creation. But Putin, coming from the K.G.B., a lot of his skill set comes out of the K.G.B. playbook. His public messaging is right out of Lenin, with slogans like ‘Land for the Peasants,’ and calling the Bolsheviks a majority when they were not. This is a skill set that Putin acquired. Trump knows how to play the media all on his own. He creates his own Twitter feed and uses it. He knows how to get the media’s attention without the benefit of a state-controlled media. He does it all on his own. Trump understands how a free media works.”

Hill also said that the Russians, partly because they “have” Edward Snowden, in Moscow, possess “a good idea of what the U.S. is capable of knowing. They got all of his information. You can be damn well sure that [Snowden’s] information is theirs.”

In the think-tank and analytical world of Russian specialists in Washington, Hill has a solid reputation. Celeste Wallander, who was Obama’s leading adviser on Russia, said, “Fiona is a respected analyst in the Washington Russia community, and she has been very tough and really hardheaded about who and what Putin is and about U.S.-Russian policy.”

And yet the general feeling in that same community is that Trump is not an ordinary Republican President—his comments about Putin are extraordinary, and so is the tumult in his Administration, particularly when it comes to its relations with Russia. Michael Flynn lost his job as the national-security adviser in less than a month because of his contacts with the Russian Ambassador, and others in the Trump circle—from Paul Manafort, Trump’s onetime campaign manager, to the Attorney General, Jeff Sessions, to Carter Page, a policy adviser during the race—are also being scrutinized. Some officials and analysts wonder if Hill is deluded in thinking, somehow, that she can play a positive and decisive role in a White House clouded by the prospect of congressional investigations and influenced so markedly by ideologues like Steve Bannon.

In late July, Hill wrote a column for Vox on why Putin might have wanted to interfere in the election. Her analysis was completely in line with consensus thinking. She concluded that Putin believed that the Obama Administration, and particularly Clinton, as Obama’s Secretary of State, had somehow been responsible for the anti-Kremlin demonstrations in 2011 and 2012, and that he wanted either to prevent Clinton from becoming President or, more likely, to do his best to weaken her. “A US president who is elected amid controversy and recrimination, reviled by a large segment of the electorate, and mired in domestic crises,” Hill wrote, “will be hard-pressed to forge a coherent foreign policy and challenge Russia.

Power of Türkiye-Syria quakes measured in nuclear bombs

The death toll from the disaster is approaching 24,500, according to Turkish and Syrian data

The power of this week’s Türkiye-Syria earthquakes wasequivalent to 500 atomic explosions, the risk reduction general manager at the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) has said.

The first quake on Mondaylasted 65 seconds, while the second went on for 45 seconds, Tatar told journalists on Saturday.

“The energy freed by the two earthquakes equaled the energy of 500 nuclear bombs,”Orhan Tatar said.

The tremors were followed bymore than 2,000 aftershocksthroughout the week, which are still continuing, Tatar added.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip said on Saturday that the death toll from the quakes had reached 21,043 people, with more than 80,000 others wounded.

With 3,553 deaths reported in neighboring Syria, the overall number of fatalities in the two countries has reached 24,596.

“This earthquake, which is described as the disaster of the century, caused destruction in a 500-kilometer area, but was felt in an area of almost a thousand kilometers,” Erdogan said during a visit to the devastated city of Diyarbakir.

The Turkish leader pledged that survivors who lost their homes “won’t be left in the streets and in poverty,” and that hundreds of thousands of apartment blocks will be rebuilt and reinforced to withstand earthquakes in the future.

He also announced a decision to switch all of universities in Türkiye to remote learning, with their dormitories to be used as temporary housing for those made homeless by the tragedy.

According to the president, some 160,000 rescuers – both Turkish and from other countries, including Russia – have been taking part in relief efforts in the country's ten south-eastern provinces.

Also on Saturday, eight people were detained in Türkiye’s Sanliurfa Province over alleged construction irregularities that led to buildings collapsing during the quakes, according to the Yeni Safak newspaper.

On Friday, local media reported the arrest of the contractor of the Renaissance Residence apartment complex in Hatay Province, which was completely flattened by the tremors. The suspect was stopped at an airport in Istanbul, and wasreportedly carrying a large sum of cash.

The magnitude of the two earthquakes has been put at 7.7 and 7.6, respectively. Fitch credit rating agency earlier estimated the damage suffered by Turkey from the disaster at around $4 billion.

Donald Trump Keeps Winning, Dominates Yet Another 2024 Republican Primary Poll

Donald Trump led all potential competitors for the Republican presidential nomination in a recent poll released by Premise Data, as the 45th president mounts his 2024 election bid.

In the poll, Trump had a whopping 57 percent of voter support. Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) followed considerably behind with less than half Trump’s backing (28 percent). Former Vice President Mike Pence has five percent of the vote, while all other competitors had less than 4 percent backing.

The poll also shows Donald Trump dominating President Joe Biden. Trump is leading in a hypothetical matchup between himself and Biden by two percentage points — 43 percent to 41 percent.

This is one of many polls that shows Trump dominating in hypothetical primary matchups. The DC Enquirer recently reported on two such polls. A recent poll by Trafalgar concerning the 2024 South Carolina Primary shows Trump winning by a “landslide with 43.4 percent. Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) came in a far second 15.6 points behind with a minor 27.8 percent.”

Similarly, the DC Enquirer reports the that President Trump is winning in, “the Republican primary poll in New Hampshire conducted by the New Hampshire Journal. Trump won with 37 percent. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis came in second place with 30 percent, 7 points behind Trump.”

Recent polling of the general election has also been favorable to Donald Trump. As the DC Enquirer reports, “while the majority of Republicans want 45th President Donald Trump to be the Republican nominee, only 36 percent of Democrats want President Joe Biden to be the Democrat nominee, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll. A whopping 62 percent of Democrat voters are opposed to Biden being the Democrat nominee, while only 36 percent favor a Biden second term.”

All in all, this proves what we already knew — the MAGA movement isn’t just living, it is thriving. As more and more voters feel the effects of the costly Biden presidency, we are certain that Trump’s candidacy will become more and more appealing to the voters of America, who are rejecting the woke politics of the Democratic Party at every turn.

Poll: Trump Boasts Highest Favorability in Hypothetical 2024 Republican Field

Former President Donald Trump boasts the highest favorability in a hypothetical 2024 Republican presidential primary, a Morning Consult survey released this week found.

The survey confirmed what has been seen in several other surveys as of late, with Trump taking the clear lead in the hypothetical 2024 presidential field. In this survey, Trump leads his closest potential challenger, Gov. Ron DeSantis (R), by 18 percent, garnering support from nearly half of potential GOP voters — 49 percent. That reflects a two-point uptick from the 47 percent support he saw roughly one month ago in the same survey:

The poll also explored the favorability of each potential candidate and found Trump leading the pack in terms of favorability, as 80 percent have a favorable view of the former president, while 18 percent do not.

DeSantis comes in second place in terms of favorability, as 73 percent have a favorable view of the governor. While just nine percent have an unfavorable view, nine percent also said they have never heard of him — a factor Trump does not have an issue with.

Sixty-one percent have a favorable view of both former Vice President Mike Pence and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), but 31 percent have a negative view of Pence, compared to 19 percent for Cruz.

The remainder of the potential challengers see favorability ratings below 50 percent, but it appears that could be due to the fact, in part, that some are not as well known.

For instance, 32 percent rate South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem (R) favorably, compared to ten percent who do not. However, nearly four in ten, 38 percent, have never heard of her. Similarly, 37 percent view Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) favorably and 11 percent unfavorably, but 30 percent said they have never heard of him, either.

The same could be said for Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R), as over one-third, 34 percent, also said they have never heard of him.

Former U.S. ambassador to the U.N. Nikki Haley (R), who is expected to announce a presidential bid this month, has 45 percent viewing her favorably and 15 percent viewing her unfavorably. Nearly one-quarter, 24 percent, said they never heard of her, either.

Only one potential candidate listed had a majority viewing her unfavorably — former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY), with 53 percent viewing her unfavorably compared to just 18 percent who have a favorable view.

Judicial Watch: Secret Service Official: ‘Maybe We Were Asked for A Favor?’ in Investigation of Hunter Biden’s Gun

Judicial Watch announced today that it received 487 pages of records from the United States Secret Service (USSS) related to the investigation of Hunter Biden’s gun, reportedly disposed of in a dumpster in Delaware in October 2018. The records show agency officials discussing media reports of its alleged involvement with one finding it “odd” that the Secret Service was involved in the investigation when Joe and Hunter Biden were not receiving Secret Service protection at the time. Another official responds: “Maybe we were asked for a favor?”

The records show the agency alerted the Biden White House and crafted a public statement insisting it had “no involvement in this alleged incident” and refusing to provide any additional clarification to media inquiries.

Judicial Watch is investigating whether and how the Secret Service intervened for Hunter Biden in an incident involving a gun allegedly owned by him. In September 2022, Judicial Watch filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit for records or communications about the reported purchase, possession, and disposal of a firearm owned by Hunter Biden found in a Delaware dumpster in October 2018 (Judicial Watch, Inc. v. U.S. Department of Homeland Security (No. 1:22-cv-02841)).

Judicial Watch reported in December 2022 that the Secret Service repeatedly changed its position about whether it is in possession of records related to the investigation of Hunter Biden’s gun.

On October 29, 2020, a person whose name is redacted emails a Secret Service official in the “PID” (Protective Intelligence and Assessment Division) with a link to a Blaze article published earlier that day, reporting that Hallie Biden had taken a handgun owned by Hunter Biden in October 2018 and thrown it into a supermarket trash bin. The official then forwards the article to another official in the PID.

An official whose name is redacted later comments in this chain: “Oh dear…”

After being forwarded the same Blaze article, an unidentified Protective Intelligence Research Specialist responds to his colleagues: “It’s kind of odd that we were involved in the missing gun investigation when neither Hunter or Joe were even receiving USSS [Secret Service] protection at the time? Hmmm.” Another official replies: “Maybe we were asked for a favor?”

Senior Secret Service officials, whose names were disclosed in the records, were also notified of The Blaze article on November 2, 2020, including James Henry, then-Special Agent in Charge of the Philadelphia Field Office; Michael D’Ambrosio, Assistant Director of the U.S. Secret Service in charge of oversight of all Secret Service domestic and foreign Secret Service offices; Steven Stanford, then-Deputy Assistant Director; Leonza Newsome III, then-Deputy Director; and Douglas Henderson, Deputy Assistant Director, Office of Investigations.

After The Blaze article was forwarded by James Henry to a colleague in the Wilmington, DE, office, whose name is redacted, the colleague responds to Henry: “Digging in now. There is more information but I don’t have it yet.”

In response to a February 24, 2021, email inquiry from Politico reporter Ben Schreckinger regarding the Secret Service’s involvement in the investigation of the Hunter Biden gun incident, the Communications Department asks for “more information or documentation.” Schreckinger responds: “Sure thing. Agents visited StarQuest Shooters & Survival Supply and asked to take possession of the paperwork Hunter had filled out to purchase a gun there. The FBI also had some involvement in the investigation.”

The Communications Office then drafts and distributes internally a proposed response labeled “Draft/Predecisional/Draft.”

US defense official flags 'no objections' to Kiev attacking Crimea

Washington will not limit Ukrainian strikes on territory it claims as its own, Celeste Wallander said

The US would have no objections to Ukrainian forces striking targets inside Crimea with American-supplied weapons, a senior defense official said on Friday.

Dr Celeste Wallander, Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs, was asked whether Washington supports Kiev in seizing Crimea, or at least in striking Russian targets there. The peninsula overwhelmingly voted to become part of Russia in 2014 following a Western-backed coup in Kiev.

Speaking at the Center for a New American Security, Wallander reiterated that the US “supportsUkraine's territorial integrity and sovereignty over its internationally recognized borders, and that includes Crimea.” With this in mind, the official argued that Kiev “has the right to defend every inch of its territory.”

As long as Ukraine “identifies operational value in targeting Russian forces on Ukrainian territory… we don’t have objections and do not seek to limit Ukrainian military operations to achieve their objectives.”

She also commented on remarks made by Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff General Mark Milley, who warned in January that it would be “very difficult” for Ukraine “to militarily eject the Russian forces” from all the territories they currently control.

“I am not going to contradict general Milley, and I think he was giving a hard-headed assessment of the scale of the challenge,” she said.

In January, The New York Times reported, citing sources, that the administration of US President Joe Biden was warming to the prospect of helping Ukraine to target Crimea, “even if such a move increases the risk of escalation.”

On February 3, the US announced a new $2.17 billion security package for Ukraine which included ground-launched, small-diameter bombs (GLSDB) with a range of up to 150 kilometers (93 miles). While the Pentagon said that this long-range capability would enable Ukrainians “to take back their sovereign territory,” it declined to speculate about Kiev's future potential operations.

Last week, former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, who now serves as Deputy Chair of the nation’s Security Council, warned that any attack on Crimea would be interpreted as an attack on the country itself. Kiev, he said, must understand that such moves would be “met with inevitable retaliation using weapons of any kind.”

Belgian member of European Parliament charged with corruption

Feb. 11 (UPI) &ndash; Marc Tarabella, a Belgian member of the European Parliament, has been charged with money laundering, corruption and membership in a criminal organization, authorities said Saturday.

Tarabella was taken into custody after charges were leveled against him by a Belgian judge investigating alleged bribes of MEPs by Qatar, official sources confirmed to Politico and Bloomberg.

Police also searched a safe deposit box at Tarabella's bank and raided several offices, the outlets reported.

Earlier this month Tarabella was stripped of his immunity by a European Parliament vote, along with Italian MEP Andrea Cozzolino.

Cozzolino was placed under house arrest by Italian police in Naples on Friday and attended a court hearing Saturday, the Italian news agency ANSA reported.

Friday's arrests are the latest in a string of recent arrests in connection to a bribery scandal which saw parliamentarians accused of taking bribes connected to Qatar.

In December, six people were arrested in Brussels in connection to to the scandal. The European Parliament suspended Qatari representatives' access to the the body in December.

Former co-Vice President of the European Parliament, Eva Kaili, and former parliamentarian Pier Antonio Panzeri have been in jail since January on charges related to the bribery scandal. Panzeri struck a deal with authorities to provide information on the scandal.
