Kanye West said he was renouncing anti-Semitism in a new Instagram post Saturday in which he wrote that watching actor Jonah Hill in the film “21 Jump Street” made him “like Jewish people again.”

The rapper — known formally as Ye — has shocked and alarmed former supporters in recent months with a series of threats against Jewish people that drove sportswear giant Adidas and other fashion houses to dump him, and saw him locked out of most social media platforms.

His latest Instagram post Saturday appeared to be an attempt to reverse his earlier declarations of “love” for Nazis and admiration for Adolf Hitler.

“Watching Jonah Hill in 21 Jump street made me like Jewish people again,” he wrote.

“No one should take anger against one or two individuals and transform that into hatred towards millions of innocent people,” he continued.

“No Christian can be labeled antisemite knowing Jesus is Jew Thank you Jonah Hill I love you.”

Some social media users appeared to greet the declaration with humor, but many were not buying it.

“Doesn’t work that way Kanye. Damage is already done. The seeds of hate you planted already sprouted,” one wrote on Twitter.

The rapper, who has spoken openly about his struggles with mental illness, has seen his business relationships crumble in recent months as his erratic behavior and extreme speech continue to raise concerns.

Last year he was also briefly banned from Instagram for violating the social network’s harassment policy amid his acrimonious divorce from reality star Kim Kardashian.

Adidas said earlier this month that it was still weighing what to do with its huge inventory of West’s Yeezy products after it ended their partnership last October.

Potentially not selling the apparel and shoes linked to West would lead to a revenue loss of 1.2 billion euros ($1.3 billion), the group said, announcing its 2022 full-year results.

Seizing Russian assets is ‘challenging’ – EU task force head

Debates on the legality of assets expropriation continue, with many arguing it could become a dangerous precedent

The EU working group that deals with the issue of confiscating frozen Russian assets will have to be “innovative” in approaching the task, Swedish diplomat and head of the EU’s “freeze and seize task force,” Anders Ahnlid, told AFP on Friday.

According to Ahnlid, “it is a challenge to find legal means that are acceptable” to expropriate the assets in order to use them for thereconstruction of Ukraine, which is the task force's plan. He noted that precedents for such actions are rare, one of the few being the seizure of Iraqi assets by the US at the end of Saddam Hussein's regime.

“Hopefully, we can achieve results during Sweden's EU presidency [which ends in June]… But these are complicated matters. There will be short-term and long-term aspects of what we're doing,” the diplomat warned, adding that his working group will have “to be a bit innovative in order to move forward.”

He noted that the task force is still trying to determine “which assets are we talking about and where are they.” There are two types of assets –state propertythat belongs to the Russian government and private assets. The former mostly refers tonearly $300 billion in Russia’s foreign currency reserves, which have been frozen by the West. According to Ahnlid, they are easier to seize legally. The latter, however, are much harder to identify and can be seized only in a few cases, for instance when they can be proven to be the proceeds of a crime. The diplomat says the task force may decide not to confiscate these assets permanently, but only seize income or interest on the capital.

Ahnlid is not the first to point out the difficulties surrounding the plan to confiscate Russian assets. The Swiss government, for instance, has been opposed to the move, saying last month that it would violate international agreements and Switzerland’s constitution.

US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen has also been openly skeptical, warning that apart from legal obstacles, such a step could be considered aprecedent jeopardizing faith in the Western financial systemand the dollar. According to her, countries could becomereluctant to keep money in US banks, fearing that their funds could be seized as well. Many analysts also point out that the move could put European and American assets at risk, as they could also be in danger of being confiscated in case of an international dispute.

Moscow, meanwhile, has repeatedly called the freezing of its assets “theft,” andwarned of countermeasuresshould Western states attempt to take Russian-owned funds and redirect them to Ukraine.

Kanye West changes his mind about Jewish people

The rapper’s decision comes after watching Jonah Hill’s performance in 21 Jump Street

US rap artist Kanye West has watched the comedy 21 Jump Street, starring actor Jonah Hill, and it has changed his outlook on Jewish people, he wrote on Instagram on Saturday. The musician has been at the center of multiple anti-Semitism scandals.

“Watching Jonah Hill in 21 Jump Street made me like Jewish people again,” West said. “No one should take anger against one or two individuals andtransform that into hatred towards millions of innocent people,” he elaborated, possibly referring to himself in the post that has already garnered 1.4 million likes.

West concluded the post by thanking Hill and saying he loves him.

The rapper, who legally changed his name to ‘Ye,’ is a multi-Grammy award winning artist and producer. In October 2022, Ye posted to Twitter that he was about to go “death con 3 On JEWISH PEOPLE,” a reference to the US defense readiness alert system. The tweet was removed and West’s account was suspended. In December, West was a guest on the controversial InfoWars podcast, hosted by Alex Jones. During the show, the rapper stated that he “sees good things about Hitler.”

West’s Twitter account was reinstated by the platform’s new CEO, Elon Musk, in November. However, the very next month the artist found himself banned once again after he tweeted an image of a swastika inside the Star of David.

West’s anti-Semitic remarks have cost him partnerships with multiple brands like Vogue, Balenciaga and Gap. German sneaker brand Adidas announced a “review” of their billion-dollar deal with Ye, which impacted the performer’s net worth, causing him to lose his billionaire status. Ironically, West had boasted in October that “I can say anti-Semitic s**t and Adidas cannot drop me.”

The Anti-Defamation League released a report in February counting at least 30 anti-Semitic incidents directly connected to West and his beliefs. The organization said that those instances “demonstrate the ongoing influence of Ye’s conspiratorial, bigoted rants.”

The movie that apparently caused the 180-degree turn in the artist's views, 21 Jump Street, is a 2012 buddy cop action comedy. It was a commercial and critical success, praised for its humor. Jewish-American comedian Jonah Hill played the character of Morton Schmidt in the film. He has not yet commented on his performance having such a profound effect on West.

WEST READING, Pa. (WHTM) — RM Palmer Company, the chocolate company that owns the factory that was destroyed in an explosion, as well as The Hershey Company released statements regarding the event on Saturday, March 25.

In the statement, the company stated in part that they are “devastated by the tragic events at one of our West Reading facilities and we are focused on supporting our employees and their families.”

The Associated Press states that the explosion killed two people and left five people missing. One person was pulled from the rubble overnight.

Philip Wert, vice president of the West Reading council, said the building had been constructed in the late 1950s or early 1960s, and officials had to “access our archive to pull the blueprints last night, in order to get a better layout of the building and the mechanicals and the utilities, where things are,” the Associated Press reported.

The King will wear a special gold silk coat at the Coronation, worn by his mother, grandfather and great-grandfather before him.

During dress rehearsals for the May 6 ceremony, he will practise wearing the garment known as the supertunica, which is akin to priestly robes, as a reminder of the divine nature of kingship. Our picture shows how he might look in the robe.

A source said: ‘There will be lots of outfit changes and the King will take part in several dress rehearsals so that it goes smoothly on the day.’

It is understood that a new stole, which will be placed over the supertunica, will be produced by a London livery firm.

The Worshipful Company of Girdlers, which made the stole for the late Queen’s Coronation in 1953 (pictured above), no longer practises its craft.

It does, however, still present the monarch with the stole.

A palace insider said that planning for the Coronation was about ‘getting the balance right’ by respecting the traditional elements of the ceremony while also making it ‘accessible’ for a modern audience.

Pennsylvania offers a window into why doubters and deniers of the 2020 presidential election want to serve as poll workers and watchers.

Employees of Montgomery County in suburban Philadelphia wheel voting machines into the front hallway of a local high school two weeks before Election Day.

This is poll worker training day.

Dozens of poll workers go through a dry-run of procedures before voting starts in Pennsylvania, a state with a close U.S. Senate race that could determine which party controls the chamber.

For many, the training is a refresher course.

Barbara Rieck served in her first election 10 years ago.

“I'm a glutton for detail,” says Rieck, aretired pharmaceutical supplies coordinator. “Handling the paperwork for the election is fun for me.”

There are also new poll workers in the mix.

Lisa, who declines to share her last name, says she signed up partly because of doubts about the last presidential race.

Does she think the 2020 election was stolen?

“Kind of,” she answers.

Working the election will help her believe voting is secure, she explains.

“Because when I'm seeing it, I believe it and I know what's happening for real,” Lisa says. “When I'm not seeing something, it's hard to believe because you're not seeing it.”

Groups spreading false information about the 2020 election are encouraging supporters to get involved in the voting process this year.

Audit The Vote PA claims, baselessly, that the 2020 election was stolen.

Toni Shuppe, the group’s leader, turned down Newsy's request for an interview.

Shuppe has said enlisting poll workers and watchers is one of the most important ways to ensure voting is fair.

“The mainstream is trying to paint us all as election deniers and crazy kooks,” Shuppe says in a video posted to Audit The Vote PA’s Facebook page. “All we want is an accurate count at the end of the day, and for both parties to be able to walk away from the election comfortable that the certified result is going to reflect what the voters wanted.”

Audit The Vote PA, and the Election Integrity Force, a national group supporting former President Donald Trump, are particularly focused on boosting numbers of poll watchers.

Unlike poll workers, who check in voters and handle ballots, watchers observe voting.

Pennsylvania allows certified watchers to review voter lists and challenge a voter’s identity.

Audit The Vote PA says it has trained 6,000 people to serve as poll watchers this year.

“Does it deter fraud necessarily? No. But I have to believe that just having eyes in there, if somebody has been paid to stuff the ballot box in their precinct, they'll think twice if there's eyes on it,” Shuppe says in another video posted to Facebook.

There have been isolated reports of aggressive observers causing disruptions in the name of election integrity.

A report from Pima County, Arizona, described an increase in private citizens during primary voting this summer “demanding to gain access to our facilities to observe. Sometimes these individuals were loud, actively filming or otherwise harassing voters and/or early voting site workers.”

Election officials across the country tell Newsy they are aware misinformed poll workers and watchers could cause trouble.

“We do have concerns that, they're obviously, they're coming in with known biases,” says Carly Koppes, clerk and recorder for Weld County, Colorado. “They're having a set goal of trying to find what they believe are flaws and fraud in our election process.”

Election officials say they often know less about the poll watchers planning to be in precincts compared to poll workers.

While Pennsylvania county boards of election certify official observers, they come from political parties and candidates and may not go through the rigorous coaching of a poll worker.

“Since poll watchers are recruited by the candidates and the campaigns directly, I don't get an opportunity to interface with them one-on-one or in a setting like this ahead of the election,” Montgomery County Voter Services Director Dori Sawyer tells election workers gathered for training.

Sawyer says instructions for poll watchers are printed on the back of their certificate “to assist with setting expectations.”

She and other local voting officials contacted for this story expressed faith that common safeguards in polling places should keep voting secure.

As in many states, Pennsylvania strives for a bipartisan split among poll workers.

Watchers must stay in a designated space away from voters.

Precincts have an election judge with the authority to remove anyone who tries to intimidate a voter or gets too close to someone casting a ballot.

“I'm confident that if any issues do arise, that our team is primed and ready to tackle whatever comes our way," Sawyer says. “Handle it with grace, and swiftly, and efficiently.”

Working or observing an election can turn a skeptic into a believer of the process, Sawyer says.

“I think that the closer that people get to something that they have questions about,” she says, “the more that they see that there's nothing to see.”

Being a poll worker for the first time this spring and going through hours of training have been eye-opening for Lisa, who questioned the accuracy of the 2020 election, and says she’s not part of Audit The Vote PA.

"When you're on the other side of the table, so to speak, it's really different,” Lisa says at the end of the poll worker training session.

She now feels better about the outcome of the 2020 vote.

“Because of all the accountability, the checks and balances and things like that,” Lisa says. “It's really hard to, you know, kind of rig it.”

Apple boss hails China ties

Tim Cook has praised the company’s nearly 30-year-long relationship with the country, both as a market and a manufacturing hub

US iPhone maker Apple and China have “grown together” over the past three decades, and the relationship between the company and one of its largest markets has become “symbolic,” Apple CEO Tim Cook said at the China Development Forum in Beijing on Saturday.

In his first visit to China since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, Cook said the company would soon celebrate the 30th anniversary of operating in the Chinese market.

“We could not be more excited… Apple and China… grew together and so thishas been a symbiotic kind of relationship,” Apple CEO stated, as cited by the Financial Times.

During his speech, Cook also praised Apple’s “very large supply chain operation in China,” as well as “a thriving App Store” in the country. According to Reuters, citing a local news outlet, Cook also praised China’s efforts with regard to innovation technologies, stating that “innovation is developing rapidlyin China and I believe it will further accelerate.”

The CEO also mentioned education and the “need for young people to learn programming critical thinking skills,” adding that Apple plans to increase spending on itsrural education programin China to 100 million yuan ($14.5 million).

Cook’s visit comes at a time when Beijing and Washington are at loggerheads over the latter’s attempts to block Chinese access to US technology. The trip also follows a difficult year for Apple, which suffered from supply chain constraints due to China’s zero-Covid controls. The company’srevenue in the final quarter of 2022fell for the first time in over three years after it had to delay deliveries of some of its products during the holiday period due to supply disruptions in China.

Сook did not mention either problem in his speech, however, which some analysts see as a show of support for the country.

While Apple has reportedly been mulling boosting iPhone production in India, industry experts say the company is unlikely to shift production in the near term, as the scope of products it manufacturesin China is too vast. A report by CNN, citing an estimate from market research firm Counterpoint, said that as of September 2022 Apple’s manufacturing plant in the city of Zhengzhou wasproducing 85% of its iPhone Pros.

Analysts also point out that China fulfills a range of crucial requirements for iPhone manufacturing that are difficult to replicate in other countries, including the availability of materials and components, well-organized infrastructure andaccess to a large and cheap workforce of professional engineers.(Slave labor)

In 2021, under the cover of Covid, scientists from China, Spain, and America created embryos that shared human and macaque monkey DNA. They were kept alive in the lab for 20 days before being terminated. By this stage, the embryos had progressed to the point of forming ‘cavities and layers’ but the bulk had already started dying off.

Still, it was a proof of concept that caused a flurry of panic regarding the ethics of genetic experimentation. Disturbing medical research regarding mice and other lower-order animals routinely sneaks by in the shadows of science, but both monkeys and humans are regarded as sentient creatures – brothers in the tree of life.

What these scientists created – for 20 days, at least – were true chimeras.

Previously mythical, human-animal hybrids have long been the source of horror and awe within the world of gods and monsters. Chimeras can also include the muddling of animal forms with terrifying powers, but by all accounts, they are creatures of the unreal. The Greeks, in particular, adorned their adventures with chimeras guarding various realms and treasures.

In the modern world, scientists believe that chimeras are guarding the secrets of medical knowledge. Crossing humans and monkeys promises to unlock vital medical information about the early stages of physical development that could help us grow spare organs within other animals.

There have been an alarming number of these combinations. In addition to our human-monkey creation, scientists attempted to cross humans and pigs in California with 186 reaching 28 days. We have had sheep-goat chimeras and those derived from bovine species. Japan has proposed merging humans and mice, hoping to grow a human pancreas inside the host animal. In this case, Japan changed its legislation to allow the research to proceed, including the previously banned practice of allowing ‘a brain with human cells’.

As summarised in PubMed Central, ‘Japanese researches are now authorised to create HNH chimeras with human brain cells, to transfer the product into a uterus, and to let it develop for a period of time that can surpass 14 days, in order to obtain human organs.’

In 2013, human brain cells were inserted into neonatal mice – who lived – and gave superior performances in cognitive tests. ‘Upon maturation, the recipient brains exhibited large numbers and high proportions of both human glial progenitors and astrocytes … Long-term potentiation was sharply enhanced in the human glial chimeric mice, as was their learning, as assessed by Barnes maze navigation, object-location memory, and both contextual and tone fear conditioning.’

We’ll never know what went through the minds of those poor creatures.

So far, the ethical debate has quietened. The scientists did not create living, breathing creatures capable of thought. Not yet, anyway. But for those that believe life starts at conception, the unforgivable line has already been crossed.

And what if one of these embryos were to survive? What if a creature of confused origin could live long enough to look its creators in the eye?

‘When we observed human cells were alive in monkey embryos, that was amazing,’ said a researcher from the State Key Laboratory of Primate Biomedical Research and Kunming University of Science and Technology in Yunnan, China.

Researchers around the world have not had much luck incorporating human genetic material into other embryos in the past. Mouse cells, for example, often seek out and destroy foreign human cells, but with monkeys being a more recent relative, human DNA is playing along and contributing to the new organism.

While not illegal, these sorts of experiments are likely to be unpopular if put to a vote in Western democracies. Even some scientific bodies have their reservations. The point of chimeras is to avoid performing certain tests on human beings – which are protected by extensive laws – but in making human-animal hybrids, aren’t scientists creating a greater crime against conscience?

What worries me is the amount of ‘excitement’ surrounding projects like this, where you can hear the sense of wonder in ‘what might be possible’ clawing at the more important ‘what should be done’.

Not only are chimeras considered ‘vital’ to biomedical progress, we have researchers salivating over the idea of ‘cross-talk’ between human and monkey cells which has not been seen in previous animal hybrids.

‘We do think understanding inter-specific cross-talk could be the key for generating more successful chimeras,’ said one researcher.

How far does this research need to be pushed to claim the Holy Grail of growing human organs inside other animals – and does that end result pass our basic test of ethics?

As one stem cell scientist rightly remarked, ‘Is there a point at which a chimera is “too human”? For instance, what if a monkey-human chimera ended up being more human than monkey, should special rules apply? What if there are many human cells in the developing brain of a chimera?’

The answer is, we shouldn’t need to ask the question because man-made chimeras shouldn’t exist.

Humans have long been having nightmares about hybrid creatures and humans fused into the bodies of animals. Perhaps these fever dreams were premonitions of our future cruelty as unworthy creators. While life exploits evolutionary gaps, humans are creating life to exploit its spare parts. As we evolve into more powerful beings, we are fashioning future laboratory slaughterhouses in the full knowledge that there might be human minds on the chopping block.

While it is unlikely that the genetic rules of nature will allow us to create the more fanciful creatures of ancient folklore, Mark Steyn – who discussed this issue in several of his recent shows – was right in assuming that our future may look more like H.G. Wells’ The Island of Doctor Moreau, crawling with ape-human chimeras. The conversation arose because the Dutch are entertaining changes to their embryo act to allow the creation of life for purposes other than pregnancy – in other words – experimentation including with animal-human hybrids.

If we are gods creating life, what sort of gods are we? The kind that seeks to birth new forms into the world in order to grow our organs and harvest them. Humans make monstrous gods.

Revelations of the sheer number of FBI informants involved in the January 6, 2021 Capitol riot have shaken a trial of members of the Proud Boys in Washington, DC, as one FBI informant had infiltrated the defense team.

As Julie Kelly, who has covered the January 6 trials extensively, reports, there are at least ten informants now known to have been involved in the Proud Boys — more than twice the five defendants who are on trial.

One shocking revelation last week was that one FBI informant, Jen Loh, a member of Latinos for Trump, had been in close contact with the defendants and their legal team throughout the trial, potentially compromising their constitutional rights.

If the government had spied on discussions among the defendants and their lawyers by using an informant, that would violate the attorney-client privilege and the Sixth Amendment.

CNN reported:

Over the past year, Texas woman Jen Loh has been in touch with several Proud Boys now on trial for seditious conspiracy, talking with the members of the far-right group and their defense counsel about the case and suggesting possible witnesses and attorneys who could help.

All the while, Loh was also a paid FBI informant.

That revelation threw a wrench into the ongoing trial this week in federal court in Washington, DC, when defense counsel learned of her relationship with the government.

The defense objected to the continuation of the trial until the prosecution told Judge Timothy Kelly, an appointee of President Donald Trump, that Loh had not informed them about the defense in the trial.

Defense attorneys are scheduled to question Loh on Monday. But questions are growing about the extent to which FBI informants knew about the Capitol riot, and may have encouraged the crowd during the riot.

Many of the defendants in January 6-related prosecutions who have pleaded guilty have acknowledged that they alone decided to trespass or to commit other crimes. However, the role of informants remains unclear.

Some Trump supporters have claimed, incorrectly, that the riot was fomented by left-wing groups, or that it was entirely orchestrated by the FBI. But the shroud of secrecy surrounding FBI informants has fueled such claims.

Trump himself has argued that he urged Congress to accept National Guard help in the days leading up to Jan. 6, but that then-Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) declined.

I think I think the Waco Rally Painter presents us with yet another Q proof.

I don’t think the following has yet been discussed, because as I archived the Q post that I am discussing below on the Internet Archive, and when I archived the post the Internet Archive indicated that my capture of Post #3191, from March 25, 2019, was the first. So I think this is a new point to make and I think it is another Q proof for the world.

This morning I was thinking about the painter who was on stage last night in Waco, Texas, prior to President Trump's arrival (“Waco Rally Painter,” because I have no idea who was painting). This morning, as I recalled the rally, I remembered that Q once posted a meme showing President Trump painting OVER the "official portrait" of Hussein Obama. In the meme, President Trump was painting while standing up, just like the Waco Rally Painter was standing last night.

Notably, in the meme that Q posted, as President Trump stood painting he was obliterating the “official portrait” of Hussein Obama by painting a big, beautiful American flag right on top of that image. In short, in the meme President Trump was wiping out the “official portrait” of Hussein Obama and he was standing, while painting, just like the Waco Rally Painter.

As I watched yesterday's Waco Rally Painter bringing President Trump's image ONTO the canvas, it reminded me of how President Trump, in that meme, was bringing the American Flag ONTO the canvas to cover up erase, if you will Hussein Obama entirely. Didn’t President Trump point at Hussein and state “When I’m through it will be like you were never here” at President Trump’s inauguration on January 20, 2017? I believe he did.

This morning I went to the Q drops to find out when that meme (depicting President Trump painting OVER Hussein Obama with a big, beautiful American flag) was posted, and guess what I discovered?

The meme was posted on March 25, 2019. A perfect three year delta to the date on which the wonderful Waco Rally Painter painted that portrait of President Trump on the stage.

To me the presence of the Waco Rally Painter seems to be an important Q Proof, indicating that the American flag is erasing every trace of Hussein Obama's presidency.

The Department of Justice on Friday said that a deputy U.S. Marshal has been convicted in a disturbing “rape fantasy” scheme that resulted in his former fiancée’s false imprisonment for 88 days.

Ian R. Diaz, a 44-year-old resident of Brea, California, was found guilty of conspiracy to commit cyberstalking, cyberstalking, perjury, and obstruction of a federal matter.

Diaz and his new wife Angela Connell conspired to frame his ex-fiancée Michelle Hadley for stalking after their breakup over a condo in Anaheim.

Hadley had provided the down payment for the condo, and the two had acquired a mortgage. After the couple broke up, Hadley moved out, but Diaz stayed behind.

Hadley and Diaz continued to argue over the condo’s finances. In May 2016, Diaz and his wife falsely reported that Hadley was sending men to rape his new wife and sending threatening emails, resulting in Hadley’s arrest and imprisonment for 88 days.

All charges against Hadley were eventually dropped, and she was exonerated.

According to the DOJ: Diaz, 44, of Brea, California, and his then-wife, an unindicted co-conspirator (CC-1), posed as a person with whom Diaz was formerly in a relationship (Jane Doe). In that guise, they sent themselves harassing and threatening electronic communications that contained apparent threats to harm CC-1; solicited and lured men found through Craigslist “personal” advertisements to engage in so-called “rape fantasies” in an attempt to stage a purported sexual assault on CC-1 orchestrated by Jane Doe; and staged one or more hoax sexual assaults and attempted sexual assaults on Diaz’s former wife. Diaz and CC-1 then reported this conduct to local law enforcement, falsely claiming that Jane Doe posed a genuine and serious threat to Diaz and CC-1. Their actions caused local law enforcement to arrest, charge, and detain Jane Doe in jail for nearly three months for conduct for which Diaz and CC-1 framed her.

Angela Diaz was charged and sentenced to five years in prison for her role in the scheme. Diaz, who was indicted in 2021, is scheduled to be sentenced on June 30 and faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison.

Update (1415ET): In perhaps the least surprising geopolitical move of the day, Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu fired his defense minister on Sunday, a day after Yoav Gallant called for a halt to the planned overhaul of Israel's judiciary that has divided the country.

Netanyahu's office did not provide further details.

As we detailed below, Gallant, a senior member of Netanyahu's Likud party, became the first to break ranks late Saturday by calling for the legislation to be frozen.

In a major development, Israeli defense minister Yoav Gallant on Saturday called for Benjamin Netanyahu's government to halt its planned judicial reforms, which have prompted enormous protests and are starting to disrupt the country's military.

“I see the source of our strength eroding…The rift within our society is widening and penetrating the Israel Defense Forces,” said Gallant in a televised evening speech. “This is a clear and immediate and tangible danger to the security of the state. I shall not be a party to this.”

In addition to calling for a suspension of the reforms, Gallant also implored Israelis to stop their enormous protests, which raged even as he spoke.

The coming week could bring high drama and even more upheaval, as the Knesset is expected to hold its final vote on the first aspect of the judicial overhaul: a measure giving the government more power over Supreme Court appointments.

Other reforms would allow the Knesset Israel's unicameral legislature to override Supreme Court decisions with a simple majority vote. Others would end the court's practice of applying a "reasonableness" test when evaluating laws and government actions.

Critics characterize the scheme as a step deeper into authoritarianism. Some say the moves are in part designed to help Netanyahu terminate his ongoing prosecution on corruption charges.

The past ten weeks have seen major public protests all across Israel. Saturday night's crowds were reportedly the largest yet, estimated in the hundreds of thousands.

An unmanned aircraft belonging to the Ukrainian forces was downed using electromagnetic warfare, Moscow has said

An explosion in the town of Kireevsk in Russia’s Tula region on Sunday was the result of a thwarted Ukrainian drone attack, the Russian Defense Ministry has said. The unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) was downed using an electromagnetic warfare system, it added.

The Ukrainian forces launched a strike variant of a Soviet-made Tu-141 Strizh (‘Swift’) drone, the ministry confirmed. The Russian air defense forces stationed in the Tula region used an electromagnetic warfare system, Pole-21 (Field-21), to disable its navigation systems and drive it of its course, the ministry’s statement said. The UAV eventually fell in Kireevsk. It’s initial target was not revealed in the statement.

Earlier on Sunday, the Russian media reported that at least three people were injured and three residential buildings damaged in the blast caused by the drone crash. Kiev did not comment on the incident.

The Tula region is located south of Moscow, some 250 kilometers away from the nearest border with Ukraine. In early March, its governor ordered increased security measures in the wake of Ukrainian drone attacks on the Russian soil.

According to the Defense Ministry, the air defense force deployed to the Tula region involves S-300 long-range surface-to-air missile systems as well as Pantsir-S1 medium-range air defense missile and artillery systems together with Pole-21 electromagnetic warfare systems.

Pickle factory goes up in flames the day after a deadly chocolate factory explosion

A pickle factory in New Jersey was destroyed in a fire Saturday morning that also threatened two nearby schools, WNBC reported.

"Thankfully, our firefighters were able to stop the blaze from spreading to PANTHER Academy," Paterson's Mayor André Sayegh said in an Instagram post.

No one was working inside the factory at time the fire broke out, WLNY reports. One firefighter was injured, but "will be ok," the outlet also reported.

Fire fighters and police responded to a call around 6 a.m. to the 220 Ellison Street location, Paterson's head of public safety, Jerry Speziale said, according to WNBC.

The fire, which took hours to extinguish, caused the building's roof to collapse, according to WLNY.

The three-alarm blaze took out much of the Ellison Street factory. Thanks to firefighters' efforts, neither the high school nor a nearby community college were damaged, WNBC reported.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known, the outlet also reported.

Eminent Oxford Scientist Says Wind Power "Fails On Every Count"

It could be argued that the basic arithmetic showing wind power is an economic and societal disaster in the making should be clear to a bright primary school child. Now the Oxford University mathematician and physicist, researcher at CERN and Fellow of Keble College, Emeritus Professor Wade Allison has done the sums. The U.K. is facing the likelihood of a failure in the electricity supply, he concludes.

“Wind power fails on every count,” he says, adding that governments are ignoring “overwhelming evidence” of the inadequacies of wind power, “and resorting to bluster rather than reasoned analysis”.

Professor Allison’s dire warnings are contained in a short paper recently published by the Global Warming Policy Foundation. He notes that the energy provided by the Sun is “extremely weak”, which is why it was unable to provide the energy to sustain even a small global population before the Industrial Revolution with an acceptable standard of living. A similar point was made recently in more dramatic fashion by the nuclear physicist Dr. Wallace Manheimer. He argued that the infrastructure around wind and solar will not only fail, “but will cost trillions, trash large portions of the environment and be entirely unnecessary”.

In his paper, Allison concentrates on working out the numbers that lie behind the natural fluctuations in the wind. The full workings out are not complicated and can be assessed from the link above. He shows that at a wind speed of 20mph, the power produced by a wind turbine is 600 watts per square metre at full efficiency. To deliver the same power as the Hinkley Point C nuclear plant – 3,200 million watts – it would require 5.5 million square metres of turbine swept area.

It is noted that this should be quite unacceptable to those who care about birds and other environmentalists. Of course, this concern does not seem to have materialised to date. Millions of bats and birds are calculated to be slaughtered by onshore wind turbines every year. Meanwhile, off the coast of Massachusetts, work is about to start on a giant wind farm, complete with permits to harass and likely injure almost a tenth of the population of the rare North Atlantic Right whale.

When fluctuations in wind speed are taken into account in Allison’s formula, the performance of wind becomes very much worse. If the wind speed drops by half, the power available falls by a factor of eight. Almost worse, he notes, if the wind speed doubles, the power delivered goes up eight times, and the turbine has to be turned off for its own protection.

The effect of the enhanced fluctuations is dramatic, as shown in the graph above. The installed nominal generating capacity in the EU and U.K. in 2021, shown by the brown dashed line, was 236 GW, but the highest daily output was only 103 GW on March 26th. The unreliability is shown to even greater effect in the second graph that plots the wind generated offshore in the U.K. in March last year.

For eight days at the end of the month, power generation slumped, presumably, says Allison, because the wind speed halved. The 8.8 GW daily loss over the period was noted to be 1,000 times the capacity of the world largest grid storage battery at Moss Landings in California. When it comes to the enormous batteries needed to store renewable power, Allison notes the problems with safety, as well as mineral shortages. Batteries will never make good the failure of offshore wind farms, even for a week, and he points out they can fail for much longer than that.

Others have recently looked in more detail at the costs of battery storage. The American lawyer and mathematician Francis Menton, who runs the Manhattan Contrarian site, reviewed recent official cost reports and found that “even on the most optimistic assumptions” the cost could be as high as a country’s GDP. On less optimistic assumptions, the capital cost alone could be 15 times annual GDP. Last year, Associate Professor Simon Michaux warned the Finnish Government that there were not enough minerals in the world to supply all the batteries needed for Net Zero. Michaux observed that the Net Zero project may not go fully “as planned”. Meanwhile, Menton concluded, with an opinion that some might consider unduly charitable: “It is hard to avoid the conclusion that the people planning the Net Zero transition have no idea what they are doing.”

Professor Allison has done his sums based on basic physics and freely available information. “Whichever way you look at it, wind power is inadequate. It is intermittent and unreliable; it is exposed and vulnerable; it is weak with a short life-span,” he concludes.

New York City Teachers Union to Host Seminar on the ‘Harmful Effects of Whiteness’

The New York City teacher’s union is hosting a seminar on the “harmful effects of whiteness.”

The racist seminar from the United Federation of Teachers is titled “Holding the weight of whiteness” and will take place virtually on March 27 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

“This course is about cultural humility and inclusion. It will allow us to discuss how whiteness relates to privilege and identity, and how both become normalized and invisible. It will focus on key cultural themes (e.g., internalized racism, privilege, microaggressions, white identity) related to Latinx/e communities,” the event description reads.

The event summary continues, “our presenter will share personal stories and experiences that relate to her identities and how these experiences have been shaped by racism. Participants will leave the workshop with a better understanding of how to center ourselves as a form of resistance against the harmful effects of whiteness in our lives, the organizations we work for or direct and the communities in which we serve.”

Erica Sandoval, a psychotherapy consultant and self-proclaimed “Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Leader,” is presenting the seminar.

The New York Post reports that “UFT members who are licensed mental health professionals can earn two hours of credit toward their continuing education credentials, which can eventually result in a higher salary.”

Council Minority Leader Joe Borelli wrote a letter on Friday to Tina Puccio, director of the UFT’s Member Assistance Program, after being contacted about the event by many outraged parents and constituents.

“Why is it important for employees of the New York City Department of Education to serve as a form of resistance against the effects of whiteness in their lives, the Department of Education, and the diverse communities in which they serve, which may consist of white students and families?” wrote Borelli, according to the Post report.

“To be clear, I don’t actually care what your speakers tell your members in an optional and private seminar,” Borelli continued. “I care how members will implement the ‘resistance’ against these ‘harmful effects of whiteness’ when dealing with students and parents as part of their employment with the department.”

According to the Department of Education, only about 14.7 percent of students in New York City public schools are white.

The Post report adds that “in recent years, the DOE itself has come under attack from critics for openly pushing an anti-white agenda that included distributing a book to students as young as 2 claiming the concept of race was created by white people who thought they were ‘better, smarter, [and] prettier’ than others.”

Maud Maron, a public school parent, blasted the workshop as “racist” in a comment to the newspaper.

“There is nothing wrong with being white, and the sleight of hand of talking about whiteness is not even a fig’s leaf worth of cover,” she said. “My kids have a white mom and Latino dad. This training says there is something wrong with mom and absurdly calls dad ‘Latinx’ — a word he would never use.”

Yet Another Biden Pick Withdraws Nomination

President Joe Biden’s nominee to lead the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) withdrew from consideration Saturday after tepid support from the closely divided Senate made his confirmation uncertain.

Phillip Washington, CEO of the Denver International Airport, was nominated by Biden to fill the vacant post in July 2022 and renominated in January after the last Congress failed to act on the appointment. Republican senators grilled Washington at a hearing March 1 over the fact that he had no aviation experience prior to his hire in Denver in 2021.

“This, quite simply, is a position he is not qualified for,” Republican Texas Sen. Ted Cruz said at the time.

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, who backed Washington’s nomination throughout the process, confirmed Saturday that Washington was withdrawing his nomination.

“The FAA needs a confirmed Administrator, and Phil Washington’s transportation & military experience made him an excellent nominee,” Buttigieg wrote on Twitter. “The partisan attacks and procedural obstruction he has faced are undeserved, but I respect his decision to withdraw and am grateful for his service.”

Though Democrats maintain narrow control of the Senate, some moderate members had shown skepticism toward Biden’s pick. Independent Arizona Sen. Kyrsten Sinema, who caucuses with the Democrats, was stonewalling the nomination process and may have voted against Washington’s appointment, a source familiar told The Associated Press.

Democratic Sen. Jon Tester of Montana also declined to publicly throw his support behind Washington, the AP reported.

Washington is also under scrutiny for an ongoing corruption investigation involving his previous position as CEO of the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority, or LA Metro, the governing body for local public transportation.

EU warns of response to Belarus nuclear move

The bloc will apply sanctions unless Minsk refuses to host Russian tactical arms, Josep Borrell announced

The EU will respond with further sanctions if Belarus presses ahead with hosting Russian nuclear weapons on its soil, the bloc’s top diplomat, Josep Borrell, has stated. Borrell called the decision to transfer tactical weapons to Belarus “an irresponsible escalation” by Moscow.

“Belarus hosting Russian nuclear weapons would mean an irresponsible escalation and threat to European security,” Borrell tweeted on Sunday. “Belarus can still stop it, it is their choice,” he continued, adding that “the EU stands ready to respond with further sanctions.”

Russian President Vladimir Putin revealed on Saturday that his country’s tactical nuclear weapons will arrive in Belarus as early as this summer. Putin said that he made the decision after the UK announced it would transfer toxic depleted uranium munitions to Ukraine, a move he described as a sign of London’s “absolute recklessness.”

Belarus has already been extensively sanctioned by the EU and US since the start of Russia’s military operation in Ukraine last February. Brussels has blacklisted more than 20 Belarusian officials, cut five of the nation’s banks off from the SWIFT system, and imposed numerous trade restrictions.

Prior to 2022, theEU banned Belarusian flightsfrom operating in its airspace and imposed five separate sets of sanctions in response to President Alexander Lukashenko’s 2020 election victory, which the EU deemed fraudulent.

In his announcement on Saturday, Putin explained that any nuclear weapons transferred to Belarus would remain under Russian control.

“There is nothing unusual,” about this arrangement, Putin stated, explaining that “the United States has been doing this for decades” by keeping its own nuclear weapons in Belgium, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, and Türkiye.

“They have long deployed their tactical nuclear weapons on the territory of their allies,” he said. “We agreed that we will do the same, without violating our international obligations on the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons.”

Former Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz claimed Alvin Bragg could lose his law license — if the Manhattan district attorney does go ahead with indicting former President Donald Trump, and uses Michael Cohen’s testimony to do it.

Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo spoke to Dershowitz on Sunday Morning Futures about the ongoing question of whether Trump will be indicted over the Stormy Daniels hush money scandal. Dershowitz has repeatedly denounced the potential indictment as an affront to liberties, and he began by hypothesizing “I don’t think an indictment can actually come forward now after the comments made by [Robert] Costello.”

This was a referral to the news that Costello, a Trump ally and former legal adviser to Michael Cohen, went before the Manhattan grand jury to testify against Cohen’s credibility. Costello testified that Cohen took the initiative in arranging the hush money agreement with Daniels, even as Cohen maintains that he did so at Trump’s direction and was reimbursed for it while the Trump Organization tried to cover it up.

While charges have yet to be filed against Trump, Dershowitz used Costello’s testimony to declare “he has proved that the main witness is going to be a perjuring liar on the witness stand, and that puts the district attorney in a terrible position.”

If he uses Cohen as a witness, he could actually lose his bar license. It’s unethical to put a witness on the stand who you know is lying, and he has to know that Cohen will be lying. Or he tries the case without Cohen, which would be very difficult, or he does the right thing: he drops the case.

Cohen has previously pleaded guilty to lying to Congress, but while such a witness might have credibility issues with a jury, Cohen’s prior plea does not automatically disqualify him from testifying under oath in future legal proceedings.

Dershowitz added, “maybe grand jurors would finally wake up and say ‘No, we’re not ham sandwiches here. We’re gonna stand up for the law and the law says you don’t indict under these circumstances.”

MIAMI – A couple from Florida who travelled to Haiti to visit their sick relatives have been abducted and are being held for ransom.

Abigail and Jean-Dickens Toussaint were en route to Leogan, located approximately 27 miles to the west of Port-au-Prince, but failed to arrive at their intended destination on March 18. Their family told NBC Miami that they have not been in contact since.

Christie Desormes, their niece, said her aunt and uncle were forced off a bus by a group who subsequently took them captive. The kidnappers initially demanded a ransom of $6,000, but when the family paid over $2,000, they altered their demands.

“It’s a lot of emotions, it’s devastating, you feel angry it happened and then you feel numb at the same time because it doesn’t feel real,” Desormes said.

A committee on the subject is making progress against the DOJ, the Air Force, and NewsGuard.

The weaponization of government really began under Barack Obama, who masterfully used federal agencies to punish and persecute his political opponents. His understudy, the ostensibly mild-mannered moderate Joe Biden, has continued this banana republic hackery. Republicans in the House are busy challenging it and working to, as House Speaker Kevin McCarthy recently put it, “hold the Swamp accountable.”

Right off the bat once taking control of the House in January, Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan established and is leading the Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government. That subcommittee, wrote our Douglas Andrews at the time, “will investigate, among other things, the FBI’s effort to censor and ban conservative Twitter users, and the Justice Department’s probe of ‘threats’ from parents who’ve had the temerity to speak out at local school board meetings against wokeness and rampant leftism.”

How goes that work?

Earlier this week, the subcommittee released a damning report regarding the Justice Department’s targeting of parents concerned over woke indoctrination in public schools. Republicans made official what we already knew:

Although the Biden Administration declined to cooperate with this oversight in the 117th Congress, whistleblower disclosures and a report commissioned by the National School Boards Association (NSBA) shed some light on how the Biden Administration colluded with the NSBA to create a justification to use federal law-enforcement and counterterrorism resources against parents.

The bottom line: Having “no compelling” justification for targeting parents, the subcommittee concluded that “the Biden Administration misused federal law-enforcement and counterterrorism resources for political purposes.”

Unfortunately, Attorney General Merrick Garland stubbornly rejects accusations of wrongdoing and refuses to revoke the DOJ memo.

In other news, the subcommittee is investigating the U.S. Air Force over the improper release of Official Military Personnel Files to Due Diligence Group, LLC, which did opposition research against 11 Republican political candidates leading up to the 2022 election. An Air Force spokeswoman recently admitted that USAF “employees did not follow proper procedures,” but she insisted “there was no evidence of political motivation or malicious intent.” Jim Jordan and his fellow Republicans aren’t convinced.

Recruitment is hard enough under the woke regime headed by this commander-in-chief. Unlawfully releasing private information against military service personnel who belong to a certain political party is unlikely to help matters.

The Democrats’ unending criminalization of our political differences poses a grave threat to our United States.

Years from now, the history books may well record this as the week during which the Still-Somewhat-Loosely-United States of America walked up to the edge, stared into the abyss of banana republicanism, shook its collective head, and said, “No thanks.”

But we doubt it.

After a steady stream of will-he-or-won’t-he churn about hard-left Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg’s Herculean efforts to indict Donald Trump for a seven-year-old nuisance payment to a porn star, Bragg’s office canceled the grand jury’s Wednesday meeting to regroup and, it seems, to quell dissension within his camp about the ridiculousness of his endeavor.

As Matt Margolis at PJ Media quipped, “It looks like their dreams of seeing him in handcuffs are slipping away faster than a greased pig at a rodeo.”

Somehow, though, we don’t think we’ve heard the last of this guy. Nor have we heard the last of Jim Jordan and his House Judiciary Committee.

“House Republicans,” as the Washington Examiner reports, “have slammed the potential indictment as being politically motivated and … have also requested documents and testimony from [Bragg] related to the investigation. Bragg responded to the request Thursday by arguing doing so would interfere with law enforcement and that Republican leaders only became interested in the investigation once indications had been given that Trump may be indicted.”

Funny, not funny, how Soros DAs like Bragg are notoriously soft on crime, except when they can claim a Republican scalp. That this scalp would be the first ever of a former president is all the more alluring. And corrupting.

Noted defense attorney, Harvard Law professor emeritus, and author of the book Get Trump Alan Dershowitz was, shall we say, less than enthusiastic about the merits of the case:

I have never seen a case in my 60 years of practice which has so many holes in it. Start with the statute of limitations. It’s seven years before he committed the crime. The New York State statute says the only exception for that is if his whereabouts are unknown. I have to tell you, even Bragg could have found that he was in the White House. … I don’t see how you can twist and turn to make the statute of limitations disappear. And then you have all the other. How many holes are there? Shall I count the ways? …

I think he’s worried that if he brings this case and he uses a witness who he has to know is lying, there are going to be investigations of him and there should be investigations. … So I hope he comes to his senses and doesn’t bring this case.

Another sharp legal mind, constitutional law professor Jonathan Turley, put it this way: “One would say Bragg is outside of his lane, but in this case, he’s on a completely different highway. This is an effort by a state official to effectively prosecute a federal crime, a crime that the Department of Justice decided not to prosecute. … This has the feeling of a thrill kill for many on the left, and they need to think seriously about what this [means] for the legal system.”

The Left has become so certain of its moral superiority that previously sacrosanct principles have been sacrificed.

It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own consciences.”

We are witnessing the consequences of this insufferable and pernicious ideology, primarily on the political and cultural left. The American right and left have often disagreed about societal objectives, or the best method by which to achieve those objectives, but they at least shared a commitment to certain principles: the sanctity of life and of the nuclear family, the protection of children, the primacy of truth, the importance of the rule of law and due process, the punishment of criminals, freedom of speech, religion and other civil liberties, the dignity of work, and a free press charged with the responsibility for holding the powerful accountable.

Over time, however, the Left has become so certain of its moral superiority that those previously sacrosanct principles have been sacrificed, one by one, on the altar of whatever utopic visions Leftists have for perfecting society. The hills Leftists have decided to die on now include abortion and infanticide, pornography and gender confusion in schools, exploiting children in dangerous and irreversible medical experimentation, homeless encampments and drug use in our cities, incentivized theft and other unpunished crime, open borders and unlimited illegal immigration, lack of election integrity, censorship of medical professionals, scientists and journalists who dare to question the prevailing government narrative, the politicization of law enforcement, and political persecution.

An overly powerful government is eventually populated with arrogant, greedy and unprincipled people who will stop at nothing to get what they want. The Founders understood this, which is why they drafted the Constitution to leave most power within the state governments (and thus more accountable to the people), and to further diffuse federal power by dividing it between three more or less co-equal branches.

The moral busybodies on the Left, to their chagrin, are not omnipotent; they resent that their objectives for a perfected society are continually thwarted by the limitations imposed by the Constitution; therefore they seek to undermine the Constitution wherever possible: by eliminating the Electoral College, changing the composition of the United States Senate, “packing” the U.S. Supreme Court, federalizing elections and removing laws that protect election integrity, permitting illegal immigrants to vote, bypassing Congress and having a president issue countless executive orders.

The country’s descent into destruction and depravity is being facilitated by leftists in media who defend the crooks and malfeasors, even as they grab power and engage in oppressive and unlawful practices without fear of legal sanction or citizen pushback. Millions of law-abiding Americans who oppose the Left’s takeover nevertheless do not realize the risks of our current trajectory; ordinary people never think things will get that bad — until they do.

Balloon Intercepted By U.S. Air Force Over Texas

North American Aerospace Defense Command sent fighters, a supporting KC-135 tanker, and an E-3 Sentry Airborne Warning And Control aircraft after a suspicious radar track over southern Texas that was approaching the Gulf Of Mexico.

We started getting word of an intercept operation occurring when radio enthusiasts reported the odd operation underway. The E-3 and the fighter-supporting KC-135 tanker were subsequently spotted on radar tracking software ADSBExchange.com flying orbits in the area in question.

The War Zone then reached out to the Air Force and NORAD, with NORAD giving the following statement prior to publishing it:

"North American Aerospace Defense Command detected an unidentified radar track over south central Texas on Mar. 25 and launched aircraft to visually investigate the situation. NORAD aircraft identified a small airborne object as likely a hobbyist Pico balloon and assessed the object posed no immediate military threat or safety of flight hazard. NORAD will continue to track and monitor the object, and is in close coordination with the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration to ensure continued flight safety."

A hobbyist Pico balloon is thought to have possibly been at least one of three still officially unidentified objects shot down during a rash of engagements over North America in early February that followed the downing of the large Chinese spy balloon off the U.S. East Coast. Details on the other two objects remain limited, at least from official sources, and no wreckage of the objects was found. Images of them have not been released to the public and congress seems to be largely in the dark as well.

John Greenewald of the Blackvault.com received an outright denial of his Freedom Of Information Act Request on national security grounds for any video or imagery taken of the objects.

If anything, this latest incident is a reminder of just how much the air defense posture over the U.S. and Canada has changed in recent weeks since NORAD changed the filters on their radars following the Chinese spy balloon incident. This allowed them to see slow-moving, high-altitude objects that were filtered out automatically by the systems previously. Clearly, intercepts caused by that new data are still ongoing.

In the meantime, President Biden has directed various departments to change the way high-altitude unidentified objects are regulated and tracked, as well as engaged.

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office had a ‘classy’ response to Congressional investigators seeking transparency over his political prosecution of former President Donald Trump.

“Stop calling us with this bullsh*t,” Bragg’s representatives told a House Judiciary staffer on Wednesday after he made multiple attempts to get in touch by phone.

When the staffer called back a second time and identified himself, a second woman told him, “Your committee has no jurisdiction over us. You’re wrong. Stop calling us with this bulls—t,” an insider told the New York Post.

“I don’t think I’ve ever seen any government entity respond to Congress in that manner. It’s quite embarrassing, but I don’t think anyone is surprised based on how partisan that office has become,” the tipster remarked.

On Monday, House Republicans sent a letter to Bragg’s office warning him that a politically motivated prosecution of a former president would constitution election interference.

“You are reportedly about to engage in an unprecedented abuse of prosecutorial authority: the indictment of a former President of the United States and current declared candidate for that office,” the letter stated. “This indictment comes after years of your office searching for a basis—any basis—on which to bring charges, ultimately settling on a novel legal theory untested anywhere in the country and one that federal authorities declined to pursue. If these reports are accurate, your actions will erode confidence in the evenhanded application of justice and unalterably interfere in the course of the 2024 presidential election. In light of the serious consequences of your actions, we expect that you will testify about what plainly appears to be a politically motivated prosecutorial decision.”

Bragg’s general counsel Leslie Dubeck has refused to comply with a House Oversight Committee probe, calling it “an unprecedented inquiry into a pending local prosecution.”

“The Letter’s requests are an unlawful incursion into New York’s sovereignty,” Dubeck argued. “Congress’s investigative jurisdiction is derived from and limited by its power to legislate concerning federal matters.”

We “request an opportunity to meet and confer with committee staff to better understand what information the DA’s Office can provide that relates to a legitimate legislative interest and can be shared consistent with the District Attorney’s constitutional obligations,” she wrote.

It goes like this: the men who tried to kill Lula’s worst enemy are from a criminal faction tied to Lula’s party, had a Lula-related email on their phone, and one of them once even used the same lawyer as one of Lula’s sons.

First-term Senator Sérgio Moro was the Federal Judge that convicted Lula and sent him to prison for corruption charges. 3 years later, Lula was freed by a controversial decision by the Supreme Court, and won another presidential mandate in a highly disputed election.

‘In a mega-operation launched this Wednesday morning (22), the Federal Police took to the streets to arrest members of the First Command of the Capital (PCC), one of the largest criminal factions in the country.

Investigations by the agency point out that the criminals intended to kidnap and kill Senator Sergio Moro (União Brasil-PR), a former Lava Jato judge.

[…] In all, around 120 police officers serve 21 search and seizure warrants, seven of which are for preventive arrest and four for temporary arrest in the states of São Paulo, Paraná, Mato Grosso do Sul and Rondônia.’

The ‘operation Sequaz’ has so far arrested 9 people involved in the plan to kill Senator Sergio Moro, that cost about R$ 5 million.

‘[…] Criminals from the faction rented residential and commercial properties near Moro addresses in Curitiba. The bandits photographed the family’s daily life: school, gym, shopping in malls and work meetings.’

Lula and his Workers’ Party (PT) have long and credibly been reported to maintain close ties with the largest Brazilian criminal faction, the PCC. Fuelling the suspicions against Lula is also the fact that he openly spoke to the press just days earlier about his time in prison during which he had one goal:

“Once in a while a lawyer would come, […] to visit, to see if everything was all right. […] I would answer: ‘It’s not okay, it will only be okay when I f*ck this Moro’.”

Idaho law bans transgender students from using bathrooms inconsistent with biological sex

Under the new law, students who encounter a person of the opposite sex in the restroom or changing facility may take private legal action against the school.

Idaho Republican Gov. Brad Little signed legislation prohibiting transgender students from using public school bathrooms and changing facilities that do not align with their biological sex.

The law, which takes effect July 1, does not apply to single-occupancy restrooms and changing facilities and even requires schools to make a "reasonable accommodation" for students who are "unwilling or unable to use a multi-occupancy restroom or changing facility" that aligns with their biological sex.

The law states that requiring "students to share restrooms and changing facilities with members of the opposite biological sex generates potential embarrassment, shame, and psychological injury to students, as well as increasing the likelihood of sexual assault, molestation, rape, voyeurism, and exhibitionism."

Under the new law, students who encounter a person of the opposite sex in the restroom or changing facility may take private legal action against the school if the school gave that person permission to use the facilities of the opposite sex or if the school failed to take reasonable steps to stop that person from using those facilities.

Little has not made a public statement on the legislation, which he signed into law Thursday.Similar bills were signed into law in Arkansas and Iowa this week, while at least three other states have enacted similar legislation since 2021

UFC Legend Holly Holm Calls Out ‘Sexualization of Children’ In Post-Fight Interview

UFC legend Holly Holm spoke out against the “sexualization of children” after picking up a win in San Antonio on Saturday night.

Holm’s win over Yana Santos marked the first in a little over two years for the former Women’s Bantamweight champion. After a close first round, the 41-year-old managed to take Santos down in the second. From there it was more or less domination for the future hall of famer, who departed from her usual boxing style in favor of a ground attack that Santos had no answer for.

After her win, Holm took the opportunity to condemn the “sexualization of children” in society. “Something’s been on my heart and I feel like I have the platform to say it, I need to say it,” Holm said. “I just feel it’s really sad all the sexualization of our children right now and we need to protect them whatever that may be. Let’s protect the children, please!”

The former champion later clarified her statement at the post-fight press conference. “You know there’s a lot of things, I don’t ever want to be… I’m not even a real political person,” she said. “I don’t like to put that stuff around any of my social media… but there’s also just right and wrong. I feel like everybody should be on the same side on that. I don’t feel like that has anything to do with left side, right side or anything like that. I feel like everybody should be wanting to protect their children.”

“There’s a lot of child trafficking. I mean that’s like the extreme part. There’s a lot of levels to it. You see it almost being more accepted and I think that’s really sad. I feel like we should all do what we can. A lot of people don’t know what to do. But at least if I can have a voice on it then that’s something I can speak out on. And it’s just to get everybody together to protect children,” Holm continued.
