Russia cuts off gas supply to French energy giant

Gazprom has announced it will halt supplies to Engie following theFrench company’s failure to pay for gas deliveries in July

gy giant Gazprom confirmed on Tuesday it had cut off off gas supplies to French utilities company Engie. The Paris-based firm has failed to pay for July gas deliveries in full, the St. Petersburg major explained.

Gazprom informed Engie that it would cease the gas deliveries starting September 1 until the moment it gets the payment for the already supplied gas in full, the energy giant said in a statement. It also noted that the French side had failed to make the payment by Tuesday evening, making any further gas deliveries impossible under Russian law.

Earlier in the day, Engie warned that Gazprom had informed it “of a reduction in gas deliveries” and cited “a disagreement between the parties on the application of some contracts,” according to Bloomberg. It did not provide any details about the nature of the disagreements and did not specify the level of delivery restrictions.

French Energy Minister Agnes Pannier-Runacher accused Moscow of using its gas exports as a weapon on Tuesday. She also said that France “must prepare for the worst-case scenario of a complete interruption of supplies.” Her statement was made before the Gazprom announcement.

Engie maintained it “had already secured the volumes necessary to meet its commitments towards its customers and its own requirements,” adding that it would take measures to “significantly reduce any direct financial and physical impacts” of the potential supply interruption by Gazprom.

The developments come as the EU governments are trying to fill up their gas storages in the face of the approaching heating season and reduced supply from Russia – one of the continent’s major gas suppliers. Earlier on Tuesday, Gazprom also said that Nord Stream 1 would be completely stopped from August 31 to September 2 for maintenance since it only has one operational compressor.

On Monday, Engie Executive Vice President Claire Waysand said that France had its storages filled up by 90%, adding that it should be enough to get through the winter.

Exclusive — Lee Smith: People I Trust Say FBI Raid Was Search for Russiagate Documents at Mar-a-Lago

Columnist Lee Smith, author of The Plot Against the President: The True Story of How Congressman Devin Nunes Uncovered the Biggest Political Scandal in U.S. History, said colleagues and peers of his — whose judgment he trusts — speculate that the FBI’s raid of former President Donald Trump’s private residence at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, FL, was a search for documents related to its “Russiagate” surveillance operation of the 45th president.

“I think the best way to understand this is in the context of a six-year-long operation targeting Donald Trump, Donald Trump’s aides, and Donald Trump’s supporters,” Smith said on SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Sunday with host Joel Pollak. “I have different colleagues and people whose insight and whose wisdom I trust very much, and they believe that what the FBI was looking for were documents related to … what the FBI called the Crossfire Hurricane investigation, but what most most of the rest of us know as the Russiagate operation meant to target candidate Trump, then President-elect Trump, and then President Donald J. Trump.”

Smith said the people whose speculation he was relaying “have much more insight” and “much more knowledge” about the FBI’s operations than he.

Smith noted that many of the FBI agents organizing the raid on Mar-a-Lago have been involved in the FBI’s ostensible investigation of Trump for years. He recalled a report from RealClearInvestigations titled, “FBI Unit Leading Mar-a-Lago Probe Earlier Ran Discredited Trump-Russia Investigation.”

He said political observers should view the FBI’s raid of Mar-a-Lago “as part of something that started in the spring and summer of 2016 … or perhaps earlier.” He added, “This was the effort to get Donald Trump.”

The FBI’s surveillance of Trump, Smith maintained, must have been known to former President Barack Obama given its launch during the Obama administration.

“We need to remember these [are] intelligence agencies that Hillary Clinton was using to spy on the Trump campaign and to smear the Trump campaign,” he remarked. “This was in the Obama administration. There is no way that any of this happened without the White House knowing about it.”

Smith said it was “good news” that whistleblowers within the FBI and U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) provided information to Sen. Chuck Grassley’s (R-IA) office about political and partisan internal efforts to suppress information about Hunter Biden.

The existence of whistleblowers within the FBI and DOJ, Smith surmised, could lead to some restraint among the bureaucracies’ worst “anti-Trump” operatives due to fear of exposure.

He remarked, “Thanks to the whistleblowers — and to thanks to Charles Grassley’s letters — now we have anti-Trump operatives at the DOJ and the FBI worried about who they can trust. Under our circumstances at present, that’s very important, and it’s very good news, because we want them looking at each other. We want them fearful of each other. We want them suspicious.”

“These are regime conditions,” he continued. “It’s not a constitutional order. In a constitutional order, corrupt federal law enforcement officers would be charges, tried, and if found guilty, convicted, but we don’t live under those circumstances, right now. It’s a different time for Americans. It’s a sad and tragic time, but we have to make do with what we have, because we’re Americans.”

Smith described the political and partisan weaponization of the DOJ and FBI as illustrative of the descent of America’s governance into a “regime” framework as opposed to a “constitutional order.” Whistleblowers within the government can create deterrence against further governmental abuses, he assessed.

“Whatever can be done to provoke more splits in law enforcement [and] more splits in our adversaries” is desirable, he maintained.

He concluded, “America has never been like this. We look at how actual corrupt third world regimes operate. That’s how we learn how to defend ourselves, how to advance our interests, and how to deter them while we’re working to restore our constitutional order.”

Biden Says The Military Can Obliterate The Second Amendment

Brianna LymanAugust 30, 2022 5:38

President Joe Biden said Tuesday while in Pennsylvania that “brave right wing Americans” who claim the Second Amendment is meant to fight back against a tyrannical government would be obliterated by the military.

Biden was speaking in Wilkes-Barre while promoting gun control and bolstering police forces across the nation. Biden pushed for a federal ban on so-called “assault weapons” and took aim at Republicans during his speech, invoking the late Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia.

“As one of the most – one of the most conservative justices in history, Justice Scalia, once wrote like, quote, ‘like most rights, the rights granted by the Second Amendment are not unlimited’,” Biden said. “They’re not unlimited right now.”

“You can’t go out and buy an automatic weapon, you can’t go out and buy a cannon, and for those brave right wing Americans who say its all about keeping America independent and safe, if you want to fight against the country you need an F-15. You need something a little more than a gun.”

“No, I’m not joking,” Biden continued. “Think about this. Think about the rationale we use that’s used to provide this. And who are they shooting at? Shooting at these guys behind me.”

Biden was standing in front of supporters, including several members of law enforcement.

Biden has made similar comments, saying in June of 2021 that the Second Amendment is not absolute.

“Those who say the blood of lib – ‘the blood of patriots,’ you know, and all the stuff about how we’re going to have to move against the government. Well, the tree of liberty is not watered with the blood of patriots. What’s happened is that there have never been – if you wanted or if you think you need to have weapons to take on the government, you need F-15s, and maybe some nuclear weapons.”

Biden has called on Congress to pass a ban on “assault weapons and high capacity magazines” shortly after a mass shooter killed 19 children and two teachers in Uvalde, Texas. Biden tried to assure Americans that “this is not about taking away anyone’s guns” or “vilifying gun owners.”

“The Second Amendment, like all other rights, is not absolute,” Biden had said.

Trump’s Truth Social barred from Google Play store over content moderation concerns

Truth Social, the would-be Twitter competitor created by Trump Media and Technology Group, remains unavailable on the Google Play store.

Google said the app lacks effective systems for moderating user-generated content, which violates the store’s terms of service.

“On Aug. 19, we notified Truth Social of several violations of standard policies in their current app submission and reiterated that having effective systems for moderating user-generated content is a condition of our terms of service for any app to go live on Google Play,” the tech company, which is owned by Alphabet, told CNBC in a statement Tuesday.

Axios first reported the Google statement.

The restriction means that Android users, who make up 44% of smartphone users in the U.S., can’t download the app. Google will not let the app go live until the content issues are addressed. Truth Social acknowledged Google’s concerns and said it would work on addressing these issues, according to Axios.

Trump Media and Technology Group CEO Devin Nunes told a different story. The former lawmaker, who was one of former President Donald Trump’s staunchest allies in Congress, said the decision is up to Google and not dependent on Truth Social’s policies.

“When are we going to be available on Android? Well, look, that’s up to the Google Play store. We’re waiting on them to approve us, I don’t know what’s taking so long,” Nunes said on the “Just the News Not Noise” podcast. “It sure would be nice if they would approve us.”

Google said that Nunes’ statements misrepresent the ongoing dialogue between Trump Media and the Play store. Google reiterated that Truth Social’s violations, and the steps to redress them, have been clearly communicated with the company.

Trump Media pushed back, saying Truth Social was creating a “vibrant, family-friendly environment.”

“TMTG has no desire to litigate its business matters in the public sphere, but for the record, has promptly responded to all inquiries from Google,” the company said in a press release Tuesday. “It is our belief that all Americans should have access to Truth Social no matter what devices they use. We look forward to Google approving Truth Social at their earliest convenience.”

Trump Media and Technology Group made the app available for preorder on Android in early August. It is available on Apple’s App Store. Google’s YouTube has suspended Trump’s channel. Android users can still access Truth Social through the platform’s website.

Computer Expert Jeff Lenberg: “The Biggest Smoking Gun That Exists Anywhere In All Of This [Elections]”

Yesterday, the Conservative Daily podcast hosted Jeff Lenberg to discuss the 2020 election. Mr. Lenberg was one of the experts cited in the Antrim County case and also issued a rebuttal to the J. Alex Halderman report that the mockingbird media heralded as “proof” that Antrim was human error.

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to join Joe Oltmann and Jeff Lenberg on this podcast. Specifically, I wanted to discuss the similarities (or stark contrast) of Dekalb County, GA in the 2022 primary compared to the 2020 election in Antrim County, MI. The Gateway Pundit covered this article for further explanation.

Below are the two clips from the interview, one deemed “the biggest smoking gun that exists in all of this.” They are 15 min. and 4 min., respectively. The latter is about the Michigan Supreme Court Justices that goes against all political demographics in Antrim County. To watch the podcast in its entirety:

Also mentioned in the clips is the fact that Antrim County never did a hand recount for any races other than the Presidential race, despite all down ballot races having votes “flipped”. It is worth noting that with each “recount”, the numbers got worse and worse for the democrat challenger, from a “victory” (11/3) to a loss (11/5). And ultimately to a loss with 1400 less votes than the last “loss” (11/6).

No one has yet to explain: why wouldn’t you confirm ALL races that had significant vote “flips”??

Biden Goes Off-Script, Threatens “Right-Wing Americans” in PA Speech: “If You Wanna Fight Against the Country… You Need an F-15, Something More Than a Gun”

Joe Biden on Tuesday traveled to Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania to promote his ‘Safer America Plan’ to ‘reduce gun crime.’

Biden delivered remarks at the Marts Center at Wilkes University after hiding out for several days.

At one point Joe Biden went off-script and threatened “right-wing Americans.”

“For those brave right-wing Americans… if you want to fight against the country, you need an F-15. You need something little more than a gun,” said Biden.

“I’m not joking!” he added.

Imagine the headlines if Trump said this about BLM.

REPORT: Chuck Todd Possibly On The Chopping Block Over Poor Ratings

Oh no not Cuck Todd!

An executive for NBC News’s program “Meet the Press” is reportedly deciding whether to replace anchor Chuck Todd due to the show’s declining ratings.

The former executive producer of “Meet the Press,” John Reiss, was given the boot after the show’s ratings fell by 21 percent in total viewership in comparison to last year, the Daily Beast’s “Confider” newsletter reported. Reiss was replaced by long-time CNN producer David Gelles to revive the program.

Gelles is considering replacing Todd, who has hosted the show since 2014, multiple sources told Confider. The move would force Todd out of his two-year contract extension at the network, the outlet reported.

The new executive producer is reportedly planning to hire NBC News White House correspondent Kristen Welker to take over as the host and have increasingly notable television appearances during the midterm elections.

MSNBC and NBC removed Todd’s “Meet the Press Daily” from their networks and switched it over to a streaming-only option in May. A “Meet the Press” source told Confider that Todd may be the primary issue of the program’s falling popularity and behind-the-scenes issues. (MSNBC and NBC removed Todd’s “Meet the Press Daily” from their networks and switched it over to a streaming-only option in May.

A “Meet the Press” source told Confider that Todd may be the primary issue of the program’s falling popularity and behind-the-scenes issues.

“At what point does anyone have the balls to say ‘Maybe the problem is the face of it’?” the source said.

The program has struggled to find a booking producer to replace the former who left to work at Meta, according to Confider.

In 2020, the network moved “Meet the Press Daily” from the 5 p.m. to 1 p.m. time slot due to his “soft” ratings,” Page Six previously reported. The host reportedly had a rocky relationship with several NBC executives.

“Chuck can be very difficult — he’s very opinionated — and that has strained some of the relationships internally,” an insider told Page Six.

NBC News has been reached for comment on the matter.

Todd’s departure would follow another major cable news change since CNN canceled its longest running show, “Reliable Sources,” on August 21. The network’s decision forced the program’s host, Brian Stelter, to depart the network.

POLL: Don Bolduc Leads By 21 Points In New Hampshire Senate Primary

Sarah WeaverAugust 30, 2022 3:10 PM

A new poll from the University of New Hampshire (UNH) has Trump-endorsed candidate Don Bolduc 21 points ahead of Chuck Morse in New Hampshire’s Republican Senate primary.

Bolduc, a retired brigadier general and an Afghanistan veteran, claims former President Donald Trump won the election in 2020. Trump has yet to endorse Bolduc, but the former president has praised the Senate hopeful for his criticisms of Gen. Mark Milley, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

If the primary were held Tuesday, Bolduc would receive 43% of the primary vote, while his opponent Chuck Morse would receive only 22%, according to the UNH poll. Twenty percent of primary voters are still undecided.

The poll, conducted via online between Aug. 25 and 29, surveyed 1,993 individuals with a 3.3% margin of error.

Trump-endorsed candidates have seen success in the primary season, with 92% of Trump-endorsed candidates winning their races, according to Ballotpedia.

“Donald Trump is still extremely popular. That’s important to note, but also, what those candidates are doing, whether they’re endorsed by President Trump or not, they’re embracing the America first policies that really improved the lives of all Americans, regardless of race, religion, color or creed,” former Trump spokesman Hogan Gidley told the Daily Caller News Foundation in August.

Biden Ramps Up Rhetoric Against ‘MAGA Republicans’ In Speech On Crime

Shelby TalcottAugust 30, 2022 5:04

President Joe Biden ramped up his rhetoric against “MAGA Republicans” during a Tuesday afternoon speech in Pennsylvania.

Biden traveled to Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, to speak about how his “Safe America Plan” will help reduce “gun crime and save lives,” according to a schedule provided by the White House. A key portion of the president’s speech was aimed at the GOP, with Biden slamming the defense of January 6 rioters and calls by some within the party to defund the FBI following the raid on Mar-a-Lago.

“You hear some of my friends in the other team talking about political violence and how it’s necessary. Think about this now. Did any of you think … you’d ever be in an election where we talk about, it’s appropriate to use force political violence in America. It’s never appropriate, never. Period. Never, never, never,” Biden said.

“To this day, the MAGA Republicans in Congress defend the mob that stormed the Capitol on January 6. Defend them. You all saw it,” the president added.

WATCH:

Biden continued on to directly address his “MAGA Republicans friends in Congress,” arguing that they can’t tell him they “support law enforcement if you won’t condemn what happened” on January 6.

“Don’t tell me. Can’t do it! For God’s sake, whose side are you on? Whose side are you on? Look, you’re either on a side of a mob or the side of the police,” Biden shouted. “You can’t be pro-law enforcement and pro-insurrection. You can’t be a party of law and order and call the people who attacked the police on January 6 ‘patriots.’ You can’t do it!”

The president ended his comments about the GOP by condemning calls to defund the FBI. Some Republicans have issued such calls after the FBI raided former President Donald Trump’s Florida home in early August. Biden reiterated his anti-defund the police stand, as well, but didn’t directly speak on the raid itself.

“There’s no place in this country, no place, for endangering the lives of law enforcement. No place. None, never, period. I’m opposed to defunding the police, I’m also opposed to defunding the FBI,” the president said.

Biden’s remarks on Tuesday against the Republican Party mark an escalation for a president who promised to be a unifier when he first came into office. In recent weeks, Biden has begun issuing stronger comments regarding the GOP, describing Republican proposals as “semi-fascism” in a speech Aug. 25.

Fred Ryan, the Post‘s CEO, is said to have suggested cutting 100 positions after ad revenue in the first half of this year fell 15 percent as compared to last year, several people with knowledge fo the discussions told the Times. The cuts could be made through hiring freezes or layoffs, or a combination of the two. A spokesman for the Post denied that the paper was going to be shrinking in size and suggested

Liberal media reports have NBC canning Chuck Todd as host of Meet the Press. His ratings tanked and his fellow liberals mock him weekly . The Daily Beast reported, "John Reiss, who had been the show's executive producer for the last eight years, was officially punted over to the NBC News Now streaming service, and David P. Gelles, a long-time CNN producer who helped develop the now-defunct CNN+ streamer, was parachuted in to help fix the sinking show, which is down 21% in total viewership and 24% in the key advertising demographic compared to last year . . .."

MIKHAIL GORBACHEV, DEAD AT 91

Mikhail Gorbachev, whose attempt to modernize communist control of the Soviet Union unleashed forces that brought down the superpower, has died, Russian news agencies reported Tuesday.

The Central Clinical Hospital in Moscow said Gorbachev died after "a long and grave illness.'' He was 91.

Leader of the Soviet Union from 1985 until its dissolution in 1991, Gorbachev tried to revive the moribund communist state by introducing polices of economic and political openness, known as perestroika and glasnost.

But the reforms quickly overtook him and resulted in the collapse of the authoritarian Soviet state, the freeing of Eastern European nations from Russian control and the end of decades of East-West nuclear confrontation, stopping the Cold War.

Even though Gorbachev won the 1990 Nobel Peace Prize for his role in ending the Cold War, he was widely despised at home as Russians blamed him for the collapse of the once-fearsome Soviet Union.

Their gods belong to us. They got what they pined for. Do you actually believe these saplings have any understanding of the order of things? If their god is Satan and they wanted him to sit on his throne at the 3rd temple, how would you know if he fell flat on his face or not? They got what they pined for.

Even Carlos Santana fell flat on his face during a performance that same day the Guidestones were destroyed due to the sympathetic associations.

China Is Aggressively Reselling Russian Gas To Europe

BY TYLER DURDEN

TUESDAY, AUG 30, 2022 - 02:00 PM

One month ago, we were surprised to read how, despite a suppressed appetite for energy amid its housing crash and economic downturn (for which "zero covid" has emerged as a convenient scapegoat for emperor Xi), China has been soaking up more Russian natural gas so far this year, while imports from most other sources declined.

In July, the SCMP reported that according to Chinese customs data, in the first six months of the year, China bought a total of 2.35 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) – valued at US$2.16 billion. The import volume increased by 28.7% year on year, with the value surging by 182%. It meant Russia has surpassed Indonesia and the United States to become China’s fourth-largest supplier of LNG so far this year!

This, of course, is not to be confused with pipeline gas, where Russian producer Gazprom recently announced that its daily supplies to China via the Power of Siberia pipeline had reached a new all-time high (Russia is China’s second-largest pipeline natural gas supplier after Turkmenistan), and earlier revealed that the supply of Russian pipeline gas to China had increased by 63.4% in the first half of 2022.

What was behind this bizarre surge in Russian LNG imports, analysts speculated? After all, while China imports over half of the natural gas it consumes, with around two-thirds in the form of LNG, demand this year had fallen sharply amid economic headwinds and widespread shutdowns. In other words, why the surge in Russian LNG when i) domestic demand is just not there and ii) at the expense of everyone else?

“The increase in Russian LNG could be a displacement of cargoes going to Japan or South Korea because of sanctions, or weaker demand there,” said Michal Meidan, director of the China Energy Programme at the Oxford Institute for Energy Studies.

One thing that was clear: China wanted to keep its arms-length gas dealing with Russia as unclear as possible, which is why the General Administration of Customs of China stopped publicizing the breakdown in trade volume for pipeline natural gas since the beginning of the year, with spokesman Li Kuiwen confirming that the move was to “protect the legitimate business rights and interests of the relevant importers and exporters”.

t

Well, we now know the answer: China has been quietly reselling that evil, tainted Russian LNG to the one place that desperately needs it more than anything. Europe... and of course, it is charging a kidney's worth of markups in the process.

As the FT reported recently, "Europe’s fears of gas shortages heading into winter may have been circumvented, thanks to an unexpected white knight: China." The Nikkei-owned publications further notes that "the world’s largest buyer of liquefied natural gas is reselling some of its surplus LNG cargoes due to weak energy demand at home. This has provided the spot market with an ample supply that Europe has tapped, despite the higher prices."

What the FT ignores, perhaps intentionally, is that it's not "surplus" - after all, if it was Chinese imports of Russian LNG would collapse. No - the correct word to describe the LNG that China sells to Europe is Russian.

Pennsylvania Abruptly Changes Voter Registration Form, Combines With Mail-In Ballot Application

In the middle of the election cycle, the Pennsylvania Department of State has suddenly changed its voter registration application form to include a mail-in ballot application.

The applications used to be on separate forms, but this seemingly small clerical change is creating logistical headaches for county election directors and causing voter confusion.

Registering to vote and seeking a mail-in ballot are two different actions requiring different responses in the county election offices.

“We use the voter registration application for one thing, we use a mail-in ballot application for something different,” Christa Miller, Lancaster County’s election director, told The Epoch Times. “One has to be done before the other. Obviously, you have to be a voter in order to get a detailed ballot, so that has to be processed first. And then your mail-in ballot application can be processed. We also file them all completely different.”

All voter registration applications are filed together, and mail-in ballot applications are filed separately. That is because, as per state law, county election offices must mail an application each year to everyone who asked to be on the permanent mail-in ballot list.

“In February, we have to send them an application for that calendar year,” Miller said. Then the voter must send it back, confirming they want to participate in mail-in voting for the year. The office files the mail-in applications alphabetically.

Procedure Changed in Middle of Election Cycle

Between the May primary and the November general election, the county elections office fields a lot of calls from voters who want to verify they checked the mail-in ballot box or to check the address where the ballot will be sent.

Instead of going though something like 400,000 voter registration forms, it’s easier to go through 30,000 specific mail-in ballot forms.

The Department of State combined the documents and implemented the new form on Aug. 19, which was 13 weeks after the primary and just 11 weeks before the general election.
