Paul Pelosi Had a ‘Drug’ in His System and Slurred His Speech During Drunk Driving Arrest

New information has come out about Paul Pelosi’s DUI arrest.

According to court documents, Paul Pelosi, husband to Speaker Nancy Pelosi, slurred his speech and had a ‘drug’ in his system during his drunk driving arrest on May 28.

Mr. Pelosi also handed the arresting officers an “11-99 Foundation” card along with his ID to show he supports police officers (bribe?).

Pelosi had red, watery eyes, was “unsteady on his feet” and “he had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from his breath.”

“Pelosi allegedly injured the other driver “while under the influence of an alcoholic beverage and a drug and under their combined influence,” the first count in the two-charge complaint reads.” Fox News reported.

According to the report, Pelosi pulled out onto S-29 to cross it, ignoring a stop sign, and was struck by Jesus V. Lopez, who was driving a 2014 Jeep. Lopez was reportedly traveling northbound on the state road.

The Jeep sustained “major collision damage.”

Paul Pelosi, the multimillionaire husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, allegedly had a drug in his system, addressed officers with slurred speech, and tried to hand them a police courtesy card during his May arrest on DUI charges, according to court documents.

Pelosi’s 2021 Porsche and the other driver’s 2014 Jeep sustained “major collision damage” in a crash around 10:17 p.m. on May 28, and responding officers found Pelosi in his driver’s seat in his damaged car near the intersection of California Route 29 and Oakville Cross Road.

Pelosi allegedly handed officers his driver’s license and an “11-99 Foundation” card when they asked for his ID, according to the documents. The 11-99 Foundation is a California Highway Patrol charity that supports officers and provides scholarships for their children.

Pelosi allegedly exhibited “signs of impairment” during field sobriety tests and officers “observed objective signs and symptoms of alcohol intoxication,” according to the documents.

Investigators later determined he had a blood-alcohol content of .082%.

Pelosi’s attorney, Amanda Bevins, told Fox News Digital, “I believe that the drug reference is part of the statutory boilerplate language in the complaint.”

Paul Pelosi will be arraigned on Wednesday while his wife Nancy Pelosi is in Taiwan trying to spark WWIII.

Beijing has repeatedly warned that US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s trip to Taiwan would infringe the one-China principle and jeopardize US-China bilateral relations.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has promised to punish all those who offend Beijing, a pledge that comes amid US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's visit to Taiwan.

“This is a complete farce. The United States is violating China's sovereignty under the guise of so-called 'democracy' […]. Those who offend China will be punished”, Wang said on the sidelines of a gathering of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in Phnom Penh on Tuesday.

Wang also said that full reunification of China with Taiwan is “a general trend and a historic inevitability”.

Additionally, the top Chinese diplomat warned that Beijing “will leave no room for action to pro-Taiwan independence forces or interference from outside forces”.

Wang also argued that attempts to use Taiwan to contain China's development are doomed to failure, adding, “The United States should not have any illusions about undermining China's development and revival”.

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — The North Carolina Court of Appeals ruled Tuesday that Gov. Roy Cooper’s secretary of health and human services should not be immune from a lawsuit over the administration’s restrictions on large gatherings in the early months of the coronavirus

The Department of Health and Human Services temporarily shut down Ace Speedway, a small stock car racetrack in Alamance County, in June 2020 after it repeatedly defied Cooper’s executive order limiting outdoor crowds to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.

The racetrack filed counterclaims that August, alleging the department unlawfully singled out the business for its acts of protest and violated its employees’ constitutional right to earn a living.

The appeals court unanimously upheld a January 2021 trial court ruling denying a DHHS motion to dismiss Ace Speedway’s claims that the agency selectively enforced the governor’s orders and impeded the racetrack’s ability to make money.

“This case makes us consider the use of overwhelming power by the State against the individual liberties of its citizens and how that use of power may be challenged,” the judges wrote.

DHHS Secretary Kody Kinsley, whose predecessor filed the 2020 order to close the speedway, argued before the appeals court that executive officials should be immune from civil lawsuits. But the court ruled Ace’s claims were “sufficient to survive the secretary’s motion to dismiss” the lawsuit.

Three days after Cooper issued an executive order placing a 25-person cap on all outdoor gatherings, Ace Speedway hosted approximately 2,550 spectators for its first race of the season on May 23, 2020.

A sign posted on site at a subsequent race that June labeled the 2,000-person gathering a “peaceful protest of injustice and inequality everywhere," the lawsuit states.

When the speedway continued to draw crowds of 1,000 or more, the governor’s office ordered Alamance County Sheriff Terry Johnson to intervene. After Johnson refused to issue a misdemeanor citation, the Cooper administration declared Ace Speedway an “imminent hazard” for the spread of COVID-19 and called for its closure until the emergency order expired.

A court has yet to rule on the merits of Ace Speedway’s claims. But the panel of three Republican judges drew attention Tuesday to a clause in the state Constitution guaranteeing North Carolinians a right to the “fruits of their labor.” Recent court precedents say the clause is synonymous with the right to earn a living.

The ruling noted that the order to close the racetrack “restricted or otherwise interfered with the lawful operation of a business serving the public."

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Wednesday (Aug. 3) argued that China did not make "much of a fuss" when male U.S. leaders visited Taiwan.

During a press conference on Wednesday, a CNA reporter asked Tsai if she had foreseen that China would respond to her visit to Taiwan with military exercises and sanctions against Taiwan. Pelosi said that she hopes that her visit leads to more visits by members of congress in the future and pointed out that several U.S. lawmakers had made trips to Taiwan earlier this year.

She observed that five senators including the Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee visited Taiwan in April and said: "not too much of a fuss was made." However, China did announce smaller-scale military exercises in the waters and airspace in Taiwan during the visit and stated that they were being held in reaction to “wrong signals” given by the U.S. to “Taiwan Independence” forces.

Pelosi said that individual senators plan to go to Taiwan and expressed her hope that it is clear that although China has "stood in the way of Taiwan participating and going to certain meetings, that they understand that they will not stand in the way of people coming to Taiwan." She said that such visits demonstrate friendship and support, but are also a source of learning about "how we can work together better in collaboration."

Pelosi then suggested that China "made a big fuss because I'm speaker, I guess." She then added that she was not sure if her status as House speaker was "a reason or an excuse."

She then observed that "they didn't say anything when the men came" as she waved her arms and looked at the audience. Her remark then prompted laughter among the attendees and Tsai, who raised her eyebrows.

Albert Bourla, the CEO and chairman of Pfizer, accepted this year’s annual $1 million Genesis Prize in Jerusalem on Wednesday evening, announcing that he would donate the funds towards a planned Holocaust Museum in Thessaloniki, Greece, where he was born.

Bourla, the son of Holocaust survivors, led his company to develop the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine against COVID-19 in just nine months.

Nearly 20 million lives were estimated to be saved by COVID-19 vaccines during the first year they became available.

The annual prize, awarded since 2014, is given to “extraordinary individuals for their outstanding professional achievement, contribution to humanity, and commitment to Jewish values.”

At a glittering ceremony attended by around 900 guests, including President Isaac Herzog and his wife, Michal, Bourla recalled his parents, among just 2,000 survivors of the Holocaust among a prewar Jewish population in the city of 50,000.

He credited his mother Sara, who was saved from a firing squad by a bribe seconds before she was due to be shot, for influencing his life’s path by always insisting that nothing was impossible.

Lauding Bourla for his achievements, Herzog said: “He was not deterred by high stakes, by naysayers, by conspiracy or by politics. He believed in the vaccine and invested every ounce of himself in realizing what seemed at the time a far-fetched fantasy. The vaccine was developed in record speed, utilizing the technology of tomorrow to successfully hold back a devastating pandemic.”

Israel was one of the first countries to vaccinate its population against COVID-19, using Pfizer’s shot.

Noting his pride in being both a Jew and a citizen of Greece, Bourla thanked Israel, which he first visited 45 years ago, for providing his company with extensive data about the safety of the vaccine.

The Genesis Philanthropy Group was co-founded ten years ago by Ukraine-born oligarchs Mikhail Fridman and German Khan, and Russian-born Petr Aven. It provided a permanent endowment of $100 million to establish the Genesis Prize Foundation.

All three men stepped down from the Genesis Philanthropy Group’s board in March after being slapped with Western sanctions for their links to Russian President Vladimir Putin after the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

A spokesperson for the Genesis Prize Foundation stressed that GPF was a “fully independent Israeli public benefit company” and that “sanctioned individuals or entities” played no part in it.

Dozens of protesters — many of them anti-vaxxers — gathered outside the Jerusalem Theater to protest the honoring of Bourla and the use of oligarch money for this year’s prize.

The incomplete megayacht of Amazon tsar and notorious climate crazy Jeff Bezos appears to have managed to sneak through Rotterdam last night without being egged, despite having drummed up massive controversy over plans to dismantle a city landmark to get the huge craft out to sea earlier this year.

Soon to be the largest megayacht ever built, the vessel earned the ire of local Rotterdammers after it was announced that a historic bridge would have to be partially dismantled to allow the ship built in a local yard to reach the sea due to the ship’s abnormally large masts, with many locals threatening to egg the vessel as it travelled through the city.

While this plan was subsequently dropped, according to a report by specialist website Schuttevaer, it appears that significant care was nevertheless taken to transport the vessel without upsetting the locals, with the incomplete ship reportedly taking an unusual, longer route to another shipyard, piquing the interests of enthusiasts.

The vessel is also reported to have started its journey at 3am, traversing through the dead of night to reach the Greenport Rotterdam Shipyard, where it is due to be completed.

People filming the unfinished ship’s maiden voyage meanwhile describe having searchlights aimed at them by workers, seemingly in an attempt to prevent them from filming or taking pictures.

“When I was standing on one of the bridges, they shined a searchlight on me, so it wasn’t easy for me to take pictures,” Der Spiegel reports one enthusiast as saying, who speculated that the strange route the ship took, as well as the time of the transfer, were both intentional to avoid pictures being taken of the vessel.

Also notable about reporting surrounding the launch of Bezos’ superyacht is that it seemingly appears to have avoided being egged by protesters, something that might have been at least partially avoided — despite previous threats — due to the time of the transfer.

This is also perhaps partly due to the fact that the ship avoided going near Rotterdam’s city centre entirely, despite initial plans involving the ship taking such a route, and even requiring the city’s famous Hef bridge to be dismantled so that the 130ft tall ship could pass through.

“Calling all Rotterdammers, take a box of (rotten) eggs with you and let’s throw them en masse at Jeff’s superyacht when it sails through the Hef in Rotterdam,” a Facebook event page advertising the protest previously read.

“Rotterdam was built from the rubble by the people of Rotterdam, and we don’t just take that apart for the phallus symbol of a megalomaniac billionaire,” it continued. “Not without a fight!”

Meanwhile, despite making various pronouncements about climate change, Bezos’ crowning jewel, Amazon, has seen its carbon emissions spike in 2021, growing by nearly one-fifth over 2020.

This is on top of a previous 40 per cent rise in emissions between 2019 and 2020, something that was seemingly brought about by the company’s surging business during COVID-19.

Before Liz Cheney claimed President Donald Trump took no action on the National Guard, she coordinated a campaign to prevent deployment.

Days before the Capitol riot provoked a years-long effort to impeach, prosecute, and politically malign former President Donald Trump, Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney coordinated efforts to deter the very actions she now claims haunt the former president.

Cheney has blamed Trump for not ordering the National Guard to defend the Capitol complex, even though multiple sources confirm that he authorized their deployment days prior to the Jan. 6 rally at the White House and riot at the Capitol. Security officials in charge of the Capitol declined to call up troops to protect it, government records show.

Yet Cheney herself seems to have orchestrated opposition to use of the military to quell election-related unrest, allegedly organizing a Washington Post op-ed on Jan. 3, 2021, signed by every living former defense secretary.

“All 10 living former defense secretaries: Involving the military in election disputes would cross into dangerous territory,” the headline read. It went on to threaten any military official who thought any use of the military might be a good idea. “Civilian and military officials who direct or carry out such measures would be accountable, including potentially facing criminal penalties, for the grave consequences of their actions on our republic,” the op-ed warned.

The op-ed was allegedly organized by Cheney, whose father was secretary of defense under President George H.W. Bush before serving as President George W. Bush’s vice president. Eric Edelman, a national security adviser to Dick Cheney, told the New Yorker the Wyoming lawmaker “was the one who generated” the piece for the Post.

Now Rep. Cheney has adopted Trump’s supposed inaction on the National Guard as a primary line of attack. On “Fox News Sunday,” Cheney again depicted Trump as an apathetic leader who dismissed pleas to deploy the National Guard while the Capitol was under siege.

“There are several witnesses who say they met with President Trump on January 4th,” said Bret Baier, “and he offered some 20,000 National Guardsmen to protect the Capitol building on January 6th but the offer was rejected. Is that true?”

“His own acting secretary of defense says that’s not true,” Cheney said, highlighting committee testimony from former Acting Secretary Christopher Miller who told the panel Trump made no order to deploy the National Guard. “So the notion that somehow he issued an order is not consistent with the facts.”

Except the president did issue authorization for D.C. leaders to call up the National Guard for pre-emptive reinforcements days before the Capitol riot. While Mayor Muriel Bowser took limited advantage of the extra troops, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s sergeant at arms rejected or stonewalled the offer six times, according to former Capitol Police Chief Steven Sund. Pelosi’s office was reportedly concerned the guard’s deployment was bad “optics” after having spent the prior summer decrying the use of federal law enforcement to put down left-wing insurrections.

When Trump sent reinforcements to secure federal buildings under attack in Portland, Pelosi condemned the extra law enforcement as “stormtroopers.” After days of sustained riots wreaked havoc across Washington D.C., Pelosi called the sight of uniformed troops protecting the Lincoln Memorial “stunning” and “scary.”

Hotez was awarded postdoctoral positions in molecular parasitology and pediatric infectious diseases at Yale University School of Medicine, where he subsequently became an assistant professor in 1992 and an associate professor in 1995. His early research focused on the pathogenesis and molecular mechanisms of human hookworm infection and would eventually lead to a vaccine now in clinical trials, as well as a vaccine against schistosomiasis, also in clinical trials, either of which would be the first successful vaccine for humans to protect against a multi-cellular parasite.

Following the World Health Organization's (WHO) Millennium Development Goals in 2000, Hotez, along with Drs. Alan Fenwick and David Molyneux, led a global effort to rename diseases then being termed simply "other diseases," as "neglected tropical diseases" (NTDs), and promoting the use of therapeutic/preventive chemotherapy through a combination of drugs called the "rapid-impact package."[11] Hotez has advocated for increased efforts to control NTDs since 2005 through publications and speaking engagements, helping to gain increased awareness resulting in a decrease of prevalence and disease burden in many areas.[12]

During these years, Hotez also led the Sabin Vaccine Institute in Washington, DC, as well as efforts to establish PLOS Neglected Tropical Diseases, the first online open access medical journal focused exclusively on neglected tropical diseases.[13]

Vaccine development

In addition to continuing work on vaccines already in clinical trials for hookworm[7] and schistosomiasis,[8] Hotez currently leads a team of researchers developing vaccines against other diseases including leishmaniasis, Chagas disease, SARS, and MERS,[14] and is also working in development of a Coronavirus vaccine.[15] With Maria Elena Bottazzi, he led the team that designed COVID-19 vaccine Corbevax.[16]

The award recognizes Hotez’s accomplishments in the fight against neglected tropical diseases, the most common infections of the world’s poor that not only occur in the setting of poverty, but also can cause poverty because of their adverse impact on child growth and intelligence, pregnancy and work and productivity. He received the award at a dinner reception in his honor at the Hyatt Regency Houston Galleria.

“Through science, he does what news reporters do with the pen. He looks out for the little guy,” said Jeff Cohen, executive editor of the Houston Chronicle and one of the tribute co-chairs of the event.

Hotez, who also serves as the Texas Children’s Hospital Endowed Chair in Tropical Pediatrics, has dedicated his work to developing vaccines for neglected tropical diseases such as Chagas disease, hookworm infection and schistosomiasis. He has authored more than 400 original papers and is the author of “Forgotten People, Forgotten Diseases” (ASM Press) and “Blue Marble Health: An Innovative Plan to Fight Diseases of the Poor amid Wealth” (Johns Hopkins University Press).

“Dr. Hotez can see the suffering of a billion people that most of the world either chooses not to look at or doesn’t know about,” said Dr. Gary Michelson, last year’s recipient of the award, at the reception. “He has a gigantic heart that’s filled with compassion and love for these people. His is the voice you hear for those people who are voiceless.”

DOD ‘Wiped’ Phones of Senior Trump Officials—Jan. 6 Communications No Longer Accessible

Some senior Trump administration officials had their phones “wiped” by the Department of Defense (DOD) and the U.S. Army after the former president left office, meaning messages that were sent around the time of the Jan. 6 Capitol breach are no longer accessible, court filings show.

The DOD acknowledged that the phones belonging to former Pentagon officials had been wiped as part of a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit filed by American Oversight, a non-profit watchdog organization.

American Oversight had sought the communications that those officials had with Trump, former Vice President Pence, Trump White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, or anyone communicating on their behalf on Jan. 6.

The watchdog group submitted the FOIA requests pertaining to the records on Jan. 12, 2021, six days after the breach of the Capitol building.

Specifically, FOIA requests sought communications from former acting Secretary of Defense Chris Miller, former chief of staff Kash Patel, and former Secretary of the Army Ryan McCarthy, Paul Ney, the Defense Department’s general counsel; and James E. McPherson, the Army’s general counsel.

However, in a court filing roughly a year after the request, the Army stated that “when an employee separates from DOD or Army he or she turns in the government issued phone, and the phone is wiped” and that “for those custodians no longer with the agency, the text messages were not preserved and therefore could not be searched.”

The court filing noted, however, that “it is possible that particular text messages could have been saved into other records systems such as email.”

Secret Service Swipe

The DOD’s admission in the filings creates further transparency issues regarding the Jan. 6 select committee’s investigation into the events of that day in 2021 and how the government responded.

It also comes shortly after it was revealed that U.S. Secret Service text messages sent on the day the breach had also been deleted.

A number of texts from secret service members from Jan. 5 and Jan. 6, “were erased as part of a device-replacement program,” Joseph Cuffari, the Department of Homeland Security’s inspector general, told lawmakers in a July letter.

Last week, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) wrote to Attorney General Merrick Garland and asked him to take control of the investigation into the missing DHS and Secret Service messages.

“It’s just astounding to believe that the agency did not understand the importance of preserving its records—particularly [with regards] to the top officials that might have captured: what they were doing when they were doing it, why they were doing, it on that day,” Heather Sawyer, executive director of American Oversight, told CNN.

The U.S. Army Public Affairs media relations chief, Col. Cathy Wilkinson, said in a statement to the news outlet: “It is our policy not to comment on ongoing litigation.”

In a statement to the Washington Examiner, the Defense Department also declined to comment “on pending litigation.”

American Oversight is now calling for an investigation into the DOD’s failure to preserve text messages and other communications from Jan. 6.
