Four Human Smuggling Stash Houses Busted in Texas near Border

Rio Grande Valley Sector Border Patrol agents joined local and federal law enforcement partners to raid four human smuggling stash houses. Despite the threat of the Coronavirus pandemic, cartel-connected human smugglers continue to put lives at risk by packing migrants into houses and tractor-trailer rigs without masks or other personal protection equipment.

McAllen Station agents received information about a possible human smuggling stash house in the border town of Donna, Texas. Border Patrol agents teamed up with Hidalgo County Constables Office (HCCO) Precinct 2 to help with the investigation, according to information obtained from Rio Grande Valley Sector Border Patrol officials.

Law enforcement officials arrived at the house and observed several people attempting to flee from the residence through windows. The agents and deputies apprehended the fleeing migrants and found more people locked inside the home. In total, agents apprehended 61 people from the house.

Agents conducted an initial medical screening and immigration interview. They identified the 61 illegal immigrants as citizens of El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Mexico, officials reported.

At about the same time, agents received information about an additional human smuggling stash house located in a mobile home in Pharr, Texas. Federal agents with ICE Homeland Security Investigations and HCCO Precinct 4 deputies assisted in the investigation.

Officials knocked on the door of the mobile home and several people fled through the back door, the report states. Agents and deputies rounded up the fleeing subjects and made entry into the residence. Inside the agents found several more people.

Border Patrol agents identified the illegal immigrants as residents of Honduras, Guatemala, and Mexico, officials stated.

Later that day, HCCO Precinct 2 deputies learned about an additional human smuggling stash house in Donna. Border Patrol agents joined in the raid and found seven from El Salvador, Honduras, Mexico, and Nicaragua.

Agents found a fourth stash house in Edinburg, Texas, holding 30 additional migrants. Officials did not disclose the nationality of those migrants.

In total, agents apprehended 111 illegal immigrants from at least five different countries.

“Even with the spread of the COVID-19 virus, human smugglers continue to try these brazen attempts with zero regard for the lives they endanger nor to the health of the citizens of our great nation,” Rio Grande Valley Sector officials said in a written statement. “The U.S. Border Patrol agents of the Rio Grande Valley Sector will continue to safeguard the nation and community against these criminal elements.”

What's new: In reporting out this story, Axios learned that Stepien has described to some colleagues that he sees at least three pathways to 270 electoral votes.

Stepien tells them the "easy part” is winning Ohio, Florida, Georgia, Iowa and Maine’s second congressional district. From there, the first pathway, and the one he views as most likely, is for Trump to win Arizona, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania.

His second pathway would be for Trump to win Arizona, North Carolina and Michigan.

And pathway three — the one Stepien views as least likely of the options — does not include Arizona but involves Trump winning North Carolina, Michigan and Nevada.

Those states are where Trump will be spending the vast bulk of his time between now and Nov. 3, and where the Trump campaign is spending most of its money.

The states in none of Stepien's three scenarios: Wisconsin or Minnesota.

Robert J. Blumenfield (born September 13, 1967) is an American elected official in Southern California.[1] Blumenfield is the Los Angeles City Councilmember for the 3rd Council District which encompasses the southwestern San Fernando Valley neighborhoods of Los Angeles, including Canoga Park, Reseda, Tarzana, Winnetka, and Woodland Hills. Blumenfield took office on July 1, 2013. Blumenfield previously represented the 45th district in the California State Assembly, which also covers the southwestern San Fernando Valley.

Prior to his election to the City Council, Blumenfield served in the California State Assembly from 2008 – 2013. He was the first Democratic freshman Assemblymember to ever serve as the Chair of the Budget Committee. During his four-year tenure as Chair, he led the State from the brink of economic insolvency to structural balance and surplus. He delivered his last three budgets on-time and balanced – a feat that hadn't been achieved during the prior 25 years. In addition, he radically changed the budget process to make it more transparent and accountable.

Capitol Weekly called Blumenfield “a shining light” with a “reassuring amount of perspective that is uncommon among so many politicians.” He was extraordinarily prolific and effective in the Assembly, having had over 50 bills signed into law. He is considered an environmental and consumer champion and has won numerous accolades and was named “Legislator of the Year” from a diversity of groups which included, TechAmerica, Easter Seals, New Horizons, ONEgeneration, the California Chiropractic Association, the Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters and Californian's Against Waste. Planned Parenthood gave him both their prestigious “Champion for Choice” Award and their “Advocate for Access” Award.

What happens to Nov 3 election if a candidate dies or is incapacitated

THE US president’s illness, one month before the Nov 3 election, has raised questions about what happens if a candidate or the president-elect dies or becomes incapacitated. Here’s how the law and party rules address those scenarios. Can the election be postponed? Yes, but that is very unlikely to happen. The constitution gives Congress the power to determine the election date. Under US law, the election takes place on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November, every four years. The Democratic-controlled House of Representatives would almost certainly object to delaying the election, even if the Republican-controlled Senate voted to do so. The presidential election has never been postponed. What happens if a candidate dies ahead of the election? Both the Democratic National Committee and the Republican National Committee have rules that call for their members to vote on a replacement nominee. However, it is likely too late to replace a candidate in time for the election. Early voting is underway, with more than 2.2 million votes cast. The deadline to change ballots in many states has also passed; mail ballots, which are expected to be widely used due to the coronavirus pandemic, have been sent to voters in 24 states. Unless Congress delays the election, voters would still choose between the Republican Trump and Democrat Joe Biden even if one died before Nov 3. If the winner is deceased, however, a new set of questions emerges.

What happens if a candidate dies before the Electoral College votes? The winner is determined by securing a majority of “electoral votes” allotted to the 50 states and the District of Columbia in proportion to their population. The electors will meet on Dec 14 to vote for president. The winner must receive at least 270 of the 538 total Electoral College votes. Each state’s electoral votes typically go to the winner of the state’s popular vote. Some states allow electors to vote for anyone they choose, but more than half of the states bind electors to cast their votes for the winner. Most state laws that bind electors do not contemplate what to do if a candidate dies. In the event of a candidate’s death, the opposing party can challenge in court whether bound electors should be allowed to vote for a replacement. What if a winner dies after the Electoral College has voted, but before Congress has certified. After the Electoral College votes, Congress must still convene on Jan 6 to certify the results. If a presidential candidate won a majority of electoral votes and then died, it is not entirely clear how Congress would resolve the situation. The constitution’s 20th Amendment says the vice president-elect becomes president if the president-elect dies before inauguration day. But it’s an open legal question whether a candidate formally becomes the “president-elect” after winning the Electoral College vote, or only after Congress certifies the count.

If Congress rejected votes for a deceased candidate and therefore found no one had won a majority, it is up to the House of Representatives to pick the next president, choosing from among the top three electoral vote-getters. Each state delegation gets one vote, which means that even though Democrats have a majority, Republicans currently hold the advantage in a contingent election, as they control 26 of 50 state delegations. As all 435 House seats are up for election next month, so the makeup of the next Congress is still unknown. No winning candidate has ever died after the election, but before inauguration. What happens if a president-elect dies or becomes incapacitated after Congress has certified the result? Under the constitution, a president-elect is sworn in on Jan 20, two weeks after Congress certifies the result. If the president-elect died, the vice president-elect would be sworn in on Jan 20.

Antifa-like protests in Red Deer, AB, Canada (Oct 9, 2020)

The protesters were shipped in from Edmonton, AB and Calgary, AB. Two extremist NDP leaders were also present for the protest: Janis Erwin and David Eggen of Edmonton. Eggen was former Minister of Education in AB.

Some protesters were seen with the communist symbol. There was also an individual with the black and red anarchist flag on site.

Residents were forced to move their cars from downtown for the "anti-racism" protest. A resident indicated that the RCMP helicopter was surveilling the area for ~8 hours.

Boomers on average have $920,400 saved for retirement, the Charles Schwab survey found, but expect to spend $135,100 per year,not including off-budget spending on hookers and blow, to sustain their ideal lifestyle in retirement.That means their savings would run out after seven years.

Singaporean national Amos Yee has been charged with child porn in the United States.

The 20-year-old allegedly exchanged nude photos and thousands of messages with a 14-year-old Texas girl while he was living in Chicago.

The Singaporean national appeared at the Leighton Criminal Courthouse on Friday, Oct. 16 for solicitation and possession of child porn charges, Chicago-Sun Times reported.

Yee has been living in Chicago for about three years, Cook County prosecutors said, as reported by Chicago-Sun Times.

Yee fled Singapore and was granted asylum in the U.S. after being detained at O’Hare Airport in Chicago by immigration officials on Dec. 16, 2016.

Exchanged nude photos

Prosecutors say they obtained messages Yee exchanged between April and July 2019.

The messages included nude photos he requested and received from the girl and nude photos of himself that he sent to her.

The minor repeatedly brought up her age in the messages, prosecutors said.

Yee instructed the girl in messages to remove her age from her profile on WhatsApp.

The teenager eventually reached out to a group “interested in exposing paedophiles” when their relationship eventually soured.

Homeland Security officials were notified, prosecutors said.

Yee was taken into custody on Thursday, Oct. 15 at his home, prosecutors said.

Tried to defend himself

During his bond hearing on Friday, Yee made several attempts to defend himself.

He claimed he had information he could provide about his case.

But he was told to shush.

“Do not open your mouth right now, Amos,” the assistant public defender repeatedly warned him, Chicago-Sun Times reported. “Just keep your mouth shut.”

Yee was held on a US$1 million bail and banned from using the internet while he awaits trial.

The judge said Yee was facing charges that were significantly more than an “online troll” who was “trying to get a rise out of someone”.

YouTube posting

Yee advocated for paedophiles while in the U.S. where he posted videos to his now-removed YouTube channel.

Prosecutors said Yee also ran a pro-pedophile forum on a message board.

On YouTube in 2019, Yee even addressed rumours of an inappropriate relationship with a young girl.

He “argued that even if he did sexually abuse a 14-year-old, it does not change that there is nothing immoral about pedophilia,” Assistant State’s Attorney James Murphy said.

Yee’s troll identity was used as his defence at his hearing.

His assistant public defender described him as an “internet troll” who is “all over the internet saying fantastic things”.

The reasons for the steady hemorrhage of Catholic clergy worldwide are varied, from secularization to the church's ongoing sexual and financial scandals. And the COVID-19 pandemic has brought its own challenges.

VATICAN CITY (RNS) — Catholic missions are struggling amid dwindling vocations and the COVID-19 pandemic, according to data released by the Vatican ahead of the World Mission Day this Sunday (Oct. 18).

The number of priests and ordained leaders has dropped significantly, especially in Europe and America, according to the report issued on Friday by the Vatican Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, charged with distributing clergy and coordinating missions around the world.

The total number of priests in the world decreased to 414,065 in 2018, with Europe registering a drop of 2,675 priests compared to 2017. The report also reveals a slight decrease in the number of Catholic faithful in America, Europe and Oceania. Meanwhile, Africa and Asia continue to show signs of growth, according to the data.

“We mustn’t be afraid! Mission goes on thanks to the power of the Holy Spirit,” said Archbishop Protase Rugambwa, the secretary of the evangelizing congregation, during a press conference at the Vatican on Friday.

However, the diminishing number of clergy coincides with an increase in the global population, putting pressure on priests who must minister to larger numbers of people. As of December 2018, the report shows, there are 1,328,993,000 Catholics in the world.

As a result, there are an average of 14,638 faithful per priest. This shortage of priests combined with a growing population have put a strain on evangelizing and missionary efforts globally.

The number of women leaders has also experienced a decline of 7,249 sisters, a drop similar to the one reported in 2017. Once again, the data shows, Europe and America have experienced the most significant decrease in women religious.

The theme of this year’s World Mission Day, which falls on

Oct. 18, is “Here am I, send me.”

(CNN)For a guy who brags about having a great memory, President Donald Trump sure has trouble remembering the folks who really like him, which, given his well-documented desire to be loved by supporters, is also quite strange. Almost as strange as QAnon.

At his televised town hall on Thursday, Trump replied to a question about the conspiracy theory phenomenon by saying, "I know nothing about QAnon." He said this even though he has distributed QAnon-based claims with his own social media accounts, and his rallies have long been gathering spots for vocal and highly visible displays of QAnon symbols and ideas.

The rise of the internet and particularly social media has unfortunately lent a lot of credibility to a wide range of conspiracy theories that are out there. Some of these are rather sinister because of the fact that they use fake and disproven science to make something false appear to be true as is the case with the anti-vaxxer movement. Another example of this would be QAnon, although in this case the conspiracy theory is rather fantastical in nature yet in spite of the fact that this is the case many people seem to be believing in it.

This has created a huge problem for companies such as YouTube that are trying to make it so that the level of quality concerning the content available on their platform would be top notch in every single way, shape or form and would not contribute anything harmful to the world in general. YouTube has been taking steps to prevent the spread of misinformation, and now that Facebook has cracked down on QAnon after the group started taking responsibility for real world terrorism and violence it turns out that YouTube is following suit although the nature of this particular platform means that YouTube might not be able to take quite a strict approach.

The video streaming platform has already reduced views on such videos by about 70% through its various methods, and now the crackdown will proceed further to remove any videos that mention this sort of thing. YouTube won’t be putting a blanket ban on all mentions of the content, though, and a big part of the reason why that is the case has to do with the fact that many news organizations will be mentioning it to keep users updated on the dangers it poses and removing this content would be counterproductive.

Pearland ISD Teacher: Trump Supporters Are Racist And Should Not Be Teachers

A Pearland ISD teacher is under fire after a Facebook rant involving President Trump and supporters of the President.

Turner High School teacher, Samantha Hennessy claimed teachers who are Trump supporters are racist and should leave theirs jobs forever.

It read:

If you are a public school teacher AND a trump supporter, please grab your purse/bag/white hood, walk out of your classroom and leave. FOREVER!

By definition and association, you are a racist, a science denier, and you oppose equal rights for women, minorities, and the LGBTQ community.

Public school teachers are granted the HONOR to look after, protect, and advocate for ALL of the children in our classrooms. We are to empower and inspire our young people to be the best THEY can be. Even if they have two moms/dads, are undocumented, or “live in those apartments”.

A trump supporter, (because, f*ck you, you’re not a fiscally conservative republican you racist f*ck!), can’t and won’t! Christian my fat a**!

Any teacher that openly or covertly discriminates a student is a CHILD ABUSER! And don’t think you won’t be called out by those of us who wishes a b*tch would!! You miserable, degenerate F*CKs!!

Parents quickly lambasted the teacher, flooding Facebook with negative reactions:

“Looks like you will be reported and don’t deserve to be in school teaching our kids with your ugliness. hate and foul mouth.”

According to the school districts website, Hennessey teaches Spanish 2 at Turner High School and graduated from the University of Houston-Clear Lake.
