Mexican officials say they've recovered the "extremely dangerous" radioactive cobalt-60 that was stolen last week, hours after finding its empty containter.
The Associated Press reports:
"A missing shipment of radioactive cobalt-60 was found Wednesday near where the stolen truck transporting the material was abandoned in central Mexico, the country's nuclear safety director said.
"The highly radioactive material had been removed from its container, officials said, and one predicted that anyone involved in opening the box could be in grave danger of dying within days.
"The cobalt-60 was left in a rural area about a kilometer (a half a mile) from Hueypoxtla, an agricultural town of about 4,000 people, but it posed no threat or a need for an evacuation, said Juan Eibenschutz, director general of the National Commission of Nuclear Safety and Safeguards.
"'Fortunately there are no people where the source of radioactivity is,' Eibenschutz said."
The incident began on Monday, when a white Volkswagen truck carrying the container was stolen at a gas station in Mexico.
On Tuesday, Mexico's nuclear safety group, known as CNSNS, issued a public alert, saying that federal, state and local authorities were looking in at least six states for the Volkswagen Worker truck, which is equipped with a crane and bears the license plate 726-DT-8.

President Trump refused to denounce QAnon during a town hall event Thursday and once again claimed ignorance of the far-right conspiracy theory movement recently condemned by other Republicans.
Facing questions from Savannah Guthrie, the town hall moderator and anchor of NBC’s “Today” show, Mr. Trump insisted he still knows little to nothing about QAnon and declined multiple opportunities to reject it.
Mr. Trump also pushed back repeatedly when told of specific beliefs held by proponents of QAnon, accused Ms. Guthrie of misunderstanding the movement and took issue with her asking him about it.

More than 1 in 50 tweets about voting in the 2020 elections in August and September were posted by QAnon accounts, according to research released Friday by Advance Democracy, a nonpartisan nonprofit.
The research also found that 2 in every 25 tweets using the hashtag #voterfraud originated from QAnon accounts, a sign of how ubiquitous the conspiracy theory has become on Twitter, one of the last remaining major social media platforms to allow QAnon content.
While still a small percentage of the broader discussion, the data shows how the QAnon movement has succeeded in becoming an outsize influence on election discourse. Researchers have warned that Trump-friendly social media networks and far-right media are poised to amplify any of the president's claims about the election.

Arguably the biggest sensation to come out of the debacle of a town hall NBC had with President Trump was the so-called “nodding lady.” Positioned directly behind the President’s left shoulder for one of the most widely used camera angles, she was applauded by some and attacked by others for nodding her head and displaying thumbs up in agreement when the President answered many of the attack questions posed to him by Savannah Guthrie.
But she wasn’t originally positioned there. Before the town hall began, a Caucasian lady was originally positioned there. NBC found Mayra Joli and put her in that prominent spot instead. Now, it would not be a stretch based on their clear bias against the President that they wanted to put someone in the spot very visible to the camera who would be against him. But they didn’t ask Joli, moving her solely based on her appearance. Joli is Black.

YouTube has played a bigger role in moving QAnon from the fringes to the mainstream than most platforms.
YouTube on Thursday became the latest social media giant to take steps to stop QAnon, the sprawling pro-Trump conspiracy theory community whose online fantasies about a cabal of satanic pedophiles running the world have spilled over into offline violence.
The company announced in a blog post that it was updating its hate-speech and harassment policies to prohibit “content that targets an individual or group with conspiracy theories that have been used to justify real-world violence.” The new policy will prohibit content promoting QAnon, as well as related conspiracy theories such as Pizzagate, which falsely claims that top Democrats and Hollywood elites are running an underground sex-trafficking ring from the basement of a Washington pizza restaurant.
Other social networks have also taken steps to curb the spread of QAnon, which has been linked to violence and vandalism. Last week, Facebook hardened its rules related to QAnon content and compared it to a “militarized social movement” that was becoming increasingly violent. This week, several smaller platforms, including Pinterest, Etsy and Triller, also announced new restrictions on QAnon content.

The virus pandemic has resulted in an unprecedented number of Americans voting by mail or using ballet drop boxes this election season. Some of these drop boxes, especially those in Baltimore City, are guarded by a private security force, considering the liberal-run metro area is a violent mess.
On Thursday, Baltimore City police confirmed a ballot box security guard was shot and wounded in Northeast Baltimore, reported local news WBAL-TV 11.
City police said the incident occurred in the early morning hours on Thursday, outside the Achievement Academy in the 2200 block of Pinewood Ave. Officers found the 24-year-old security guard shot multiple times - was immediately taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Baltimore City Election Director Armstead Jones told The Baltimore Sun that the guard was contracted by a private security company operating on behalf of the Baltimore City Board of Elections to monitor the city's ballot drop boxes.
"After looking at video surveillance footage of the parking lot, detectives learned that armed subjects approached the victim's vehicle and tried to open the car door," police said in a statement.
The statement continued, "the ballot box was not touched and did not appear at any time to be the focus of the gunmen."
Election officials said the guard was in serious but stable condition:
"Our thoughts are with the victim of this morning's tragic shooting as well as his loved ones. We are actively cooperating with the authorities investigating this matter. Because this is an ongoing investigation…," Maryland Elections tweeted.
While police do not believe the attempted robbery had anything to do with the ballot box, the incident's timing is suspicious weeks before the presidential election.

Until we’re able to independently verify the story, I’m suspicious of it. It is worth checking out, but I’m suspicious.”

Report: FBI Probing Whether Foreign Operatives Aided Release Of Hunter Biden Emails
The FBI is investigating whether the release of Hunter Biden’s emails are part of a foreign intelligence operation, according to news reports.
The Associated Press and NBC News cited sources who said the bureau is investigating whether foreign intelligence operatives had a hand in releasing the emails, which Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani provided to The New York Post last week.
Giuliani’s handling of the emails has prompted allegations that Russia or another foreign government may have been involved in obtaining or releasing the documents. Giuliani’s critics have noted that he has met several times with Arkady Derkach, a Ukrainian lawmaker who the U.S. sanctioned in August because of his ties to Russia.
Derkach released audio files earlier this year from 2016 of then-Vice President Joe Biden speaking with former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko.
Giuliani has denied any foreign involvement in procuring the emails. The Biden campaign and Hunter Biden’s lawyer have also not disputed claims made by a Delaware computer store owner who says he provided the emails to Giuliani.
The shop owner, who has been identified as John Paul Mac Isaac, told The Post that a person he believes to be Hunter Biden dropped off a laptop for repair in April 2019.
Isaac said he has a disability that made it impossible for him to positively identify the person who dropped off the laptop.
Isaac told reporters that after the customer failed to come back for the computer, he looked at its contents and became disturbed by images and documents stored on the device.
Isaac said that an intermediary contacted the FBI on his behalf about the computer, and that he made a copy of the hard drive before investigators seized it through subpoena in December 2019.

A group of researchers has discovered proof for an odd particle that, strangely, is additionally its own antiparticle. it had been first proposed 80 years ago but now the existence of it would be a reality. The notion of a particle having its own antiparticle was first introduced in 1937 when Italian physicist Ettore Majorana (who strangely disappeared in 1938) first suggested the idea.

In this study, the group of physicists stacked thin films of two quantum materials together and directed an electrical current through them in an exceedingly chilled chamber. the highest film was a superconductor, and therefore the bottom one was a magnetic topological insulator.
By sweeping a magnet over the stack, the team was then ready to adjust the speed of electrons. At certain points, this triggered what gave the impression to be Majorana quasiparticles to seem in pairs alongside with electrons. One was always bounced away so the flow of the individual quasiparticles may be measured.
The particular reasonably Majorana quasiparticle they think they’ve found is named a “chiral” fermion, which moves along a one-dimensional path in one direction.

The recent New York Post bombshell reports on Hunter Biden's alleged laptop contents included a curious piece of evidence - a photograph of an FBI subpoena which bears the signature of the agency's top child porn investigator, special agent Joshua Wilson.
According to the Post, a laptop was dropped off at a Delaware computer repair shop by a man believed by the owner, John Paul Mac Isaac, to be Hunter Biden. The shop owner made a copy of the hard drive before turning it over to the FBI, which includes incriminating emails detailing alleged Biden family corruption in Ukraine and China, as well as a 'raunchy, 12-minute video that appears to show Hunter smoking crack while engaged in a sex act with an unidentified woman,' as well as 'numerous other sexually explicit images.'
FBI agent Wilson's identity was confirmed by both Western Journal and Business Insider, the latter of which compared his signature to a 2012 criminal complaint and concluded that it "clearly matches the unreversed signature on the subpoena published by the New York Post."
