MSM claiming President Xi Tells Troops to 'Prepare for War'
Tensions between the U.S. and China have been growing for years as a result of China’s aggressive military moves in the East China Sea. In response, the U.S. has made a point of drawing closer to Taiwan, angering Beijing, which sees Taiwan as part of China.
Recently, President Xi Jinping addressed Red Army troops at a military base near Guandong. The official Chinese news agency made a point of quoting him extensively, which is unusual. Also unusual was the threatening tone of Xi’s speech.
The Hill:
Chinese troops should “put all [their] minds and energy on preparing for war,” President Xi Jinping said Tuesday during a visit to a Guandong military base.
In his visit, Xi said troops must “maintain a state of high alert” and remain “absolutely loyal, absolutely pure, and absolutely reliable,” according to state news agency Xinhua, as reported by CNN.
The Chinese are not prone to making threatening statements of any kind. They are usually more elliptical in their threats and like to avoid words like “war.”
But the U.S. is about to up the stakes by selling Taiwan some of our most advanced weapons systems, including the devastating High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS). Any effort to improve Taiwan’s defenses is seen as an insult to the Chinese Communists who have been threatening to invade the tiny island for more than 70 years.
CNN
In a stern response from Beijing, Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian called on Washington to “immediately cancel any arms sales plans to Taiwan” and cut all “US-Taiwan military ties.”
Even though Taiwan has never been controlled by China’s ruling Communist Party, authorities in Beijing insist the democratic, self-governing island is an integral part of their territory, with Xi himself refusing to rule out military force to capture it if necessary.
China sees Taiwan as unfinished business and its growing military power is a direct threat to the island. In 2017, the Chinese launched their very first aircraft carrier, designed and built by the Chinese government. Recently they have been carrying out provocative exercises near the border with Taiwan.
The Communist Chinese are dead serious about taking the island by force. The only things holding them back are U.S. security pledges.
It’s an open question whether a Democratic president, House, and Senate would maintain our close relations with Taiwan and keep Communist China at bay. Barack Obama took a decidedly cool approach to U.S.-Taiwanese relations and there are some Democrats who have gone on record saying that protecting Taiwan isn’t worth risking war with China. That kind of talk is music to Beijing’s ears. They would prefer that Washington abandon Taiwan and the island’s leadership, realizing they had no hope of winning a war, striking a deal with the mainland.
Biden wouldn’t “abandon” Taiwan but the Communists would be more comfortable with him as president.
Donald Trump has been called the most “pro-Taiwan president in history.” He has thumbed his nose at the Communists by openly embracing Taiwan’s independent status. High-level officials in the American government, including HHS Secretary Alex Azar, have visited the island and pledged U.S. support.
What this adds up to is that Taiwan is safe for now. But conflict continues to be a possibility in the East China Sea as our allies remain under threat from the growing Chinese military presence in the region. Xi’s admonition to the troops to prepare for war is no empty threat. The Chinese are going for it and won’t let anyone — including the U.S. — stand in its way.

Senate Judiciary Committee Will Subpoena Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey over NY Post Censorship
The Senate Judiciary Committee announced plans to subpoena Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey after the platform engaged in an unprecedented censorship spree, suspending the account of the New York Post, and locking the accounts of the Trump campaign as well as White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany, in the space of 24 hours.
Twitter also censored links to the website of the House Judiciary Committee, although it later backtracked, calling this decision an “error.”
Via the Wall Street Journal:
The subpoena would require the Twitter executive to testify on Oct. 23 before the committee, according to the Republicans who announced the hearing.
GOP lawmakers are singling out Twitter because it prevented users from posting links to the articles, which the Post said were based on email exchanges with Hunter Biden, the Democratic candidate’s son, provided by allies of President Trump. Those people in turn said they received them from a computer-repair person who found them on a laptop, according to the Post.
The Wall Street Journal hasn’t independently verified the Post articles.
“This is election interference, and we are 19 days out from an election,” Sen. Ted Cruz (R., Texas), a committee member who discussed the subpoena with Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham (R., S.C.), told reporters. “Never before have we seen active censorship of a major press publication with serious allegations of corruption of one of the two candidates for president.”
The unprecedented censorship of the past few days was catalyzed by a scramble to suppress the New York Post’s publication of material indicating that Joe Biden, while Vice President, met with an executive at Burisma, the Ukrainian gas giant for which his son Hunter Biden worked.
The former VP previously said, “I have never spoken to my son about his overseas business dealings.”
The meeting occurred in the same year that Biden, in his own words, pressured the Ukrainian government to fire a state prosecutor that had been investigating the company.

Ilhan Omar Funnels 70 Percent of Campaign Expenditures to Husband’s Company
Firm has received $2.7 million from Omar this cycle
Rep. Ilhan Omar (D., Minn.) funneled an additional $1.1 million to her husband's company, bringing her total payments to the firm to $2.7 million for the election cycle, new filings show.
Omar's campaign filings, released Thursday, show that she sent $1.1 million more to the E Street Group, a political consulting firm owned by her husband, Tim Mynett. The payments account for nearly 70 percent of the $1.6 million Omar's campaign has disbursed between July 23 and the end of September. They have helped cover advertisements, consulting, travel expenses, and production costs.
Omar has faced criticism on a number of issues since she entered Congress in 2018. Among other things, her lack of transparency about her past marriages has come under fire, and the Minnesota Campaign Finance Board has ordered her to repay thousands for a campaign finance violation.
She now faces a complaint for potentially running afoul of House ethics rules in relation to an advance she received for her memoir.
The freshman "Squad" member has showered her husband's company with cash this cycle. The E Street Group is the highest paid vendor from the campaign, and Omar had already sent $1.6 million to the group.
With the $1.1. million in new payments, the firm has now received a total of $2.7 million from Omar's campaign for the 2020 elections.
Prior to tying the knot with Mynett in March, Omar had long denied their romantic involvement. In August divorce filings, Mynett's then-wife accused the congresswoman of having an affair with her husband.
Omar claimed at the time that she was not separated from then-husband Ahmed Abdisalan Hirsi.
"I have no interest in allowing the conversation about my personal life to continue and so I have no desire to discuss it," she said.
Mynett, likewise, denied the affair and said his then-wife was attempting to "ruin his career."
Omar's campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

While censoring Hunter Biden story, Twitter allows China, Iran state media
'Censoring political speech is what you'd expect in countries like China, North Korea, or Iran,' White House press secretary tweets

Twitter’s decision to block NY Post’s Hunter Biden story 'unacceptable,' CEO says
Twitter is allowing Chinese and Iranian state media to push content while blocking a New York Post article that purports to show emails from Hunter Biden linking his father to his Ukraine business dealings.
The social media site followed Facebook Wednesday when it began blocking people attempting to share the article in tweets and private messages because the article violated its "Hacked Materials Policy." Twitter also locked users, including White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany, out of their accounts for attempting to share the article on Wednesday.
"Censoring political speech is what you’d expect in countries like China, North Korea, or Iran — NOT America," McEnany wrote in a Thursday tweet. "This should scare every single American who values free and open discourse. Do NOT let Big Tech silence YOU."
Trump 2020 campaign social media director Mike Hahn said in a Thursday tweet that Twitter locked the campaign's account after it shared a video relating to the Post article.
While the website labels foreign state media, it continues to allow state media accounts to push media critical of the U.S. less than three weeks ahead of the U.S. presidential election.
A Twitter spokesperson told Fox News that in accordance with the company's different enforcement options, violations may require account owners to remove certain tweets, and once they do so, they will be able to continue using the platform. The company did not comment specifically on why it does not block or label tweets from foreign state media condemning the U.S. ahead of Nov. 3 the same way it did the New York Post.
"Before the [U.S.] election, truth, honesty and responsibility toward people’s well-being and world peace do not exist in the U.S.," Chinese state media newspaper The Global Times, which Twitter has labeled as Chinese state media, wrote in a Thursday tweet with a link to an op-ed on its website. "The U.S. presidential election has increased, rather than reduced, the world’s sense of insecurity."
Hu Xijin, the editor-in-chief of the Global Times, tweeted on Thursday that while "China focuses on developing itself and doing its own thing well every day …the U.S. is thinking about how to suppress and spoil other countries. No wonder China is growing rapidly but the US lacks development momentum."

Cunningham’s Mistress Donated to Campaign Around Time of Sexual Encounter
Senate Dem hopeful slept with Army vet's wife then cashed campaign checks
North Carolina Democrat Cal Cunningham received multiple campaign contributions from his mistress near the time the pair was reportedly intimate in his North Carolina home.
California public relations strategist Arlene Guzman Todd sent Cunningham $35.30 on July 20 and $250 on July 31, the Democrat's latest campaign finance report shows. In text messages sent to a friend, Guzman Todd said she was "intimate with Cunningham in his home" in July, according to an Associated Press report.
The revelation comes after Cunningham was subject to a Tuesday ethics complaint from conservative watchdog group Americans For Public Trust. The group highlighted a March 6 campaign stop in California. Cunningham's campaign disbursed nearly $600 in "travel" expenses from March 5-7, which, according to the complaint, could violate federal election law "prohibiting the use of campaign funds for personal use." Guzman Todd told the Associated Press that she also met Cunningham in Los Angeles in March.
"Regrettably, the nature of an extramarital affair is deception and concealment and North Carolinians deserve to know the extent Mr. Cunningham may have converted campaign funds for personal use," the complaint reads.
Cunningham has admitted to and apologized for the extramarital affair. The Democrat was repeatedly asked whether there were "more women" during an October 9 news conference but refused to answer.
Guzman Todd's husband, Army veteran Jeremy Todd, has called on Cunningham to drop out of the race against Republican Sen. Thom Tillis.
"Mr. Cunningham chose to repeatedly engage in activities that would hurt his family and a fellow junior officer and veteran," Todd told the News & Observer. "If elected, I can only imagine how misplaced his judgment would be for the people he's charged to represent."
The U.S. Army Reserve is now investigating Cunningham, who is also a veteran, over the affair, which could violate the Uniform Code of Military Justice.

Users across the US and Europe are unable to access Twitter on Thursday evening, for reasons unknown, getting an error message saying the social media platform is “over capacity.”
The outage tracking website DownDetector noted a sharp spike in complaints about Twitter around 2130 GMT, and the outage map shows the US and UK most affected

Aviation staffer who has flown with Biden in recent days tests positive for COVID-19
The Biden campaign has announced that someone who flew with former Vice President Joe Biden to Ohio on Monday and Florida on Tuesday has tested positive for COVID-19. The positive result was discovered through contact tracing that the campaign undertook following the positive diagnosis of Sen. Kamala Harris’ communications director and a non-staff flight crew member.
"Around noon on Thursday, October 15th, we learned - as part of our contact tracing of the crew member on Senator Harris’ plane that tested positive for COVID last night - that an administrative member of the Aviation company that charters Vice President Biden’s aircraft tested positive for COVID-19," Campaign Manager Jen O’Malley Dillon wrote in a statement.
However, the campaign says that Biden and the member who tested positive did not have any passing or close contact during the flight and he is not required to isolate.
Vice President Biden was not in close contact, as defined by the CDC, with this individual at any time. In fact, the Vice President did not even have passing contact: this individual was over 50 feet from VP Biden at all times, entered and exited the aircraft from a rear entrance, and both the individual and the Vice President wore masks for the entire flight. Given these facts, we have been advised by the Vice President’s doctor and the campaign’s medical advisors that there is no need for the Vice President to quarantine,” she wrote adding that "no additional precautions are indicated for the Vice President."
The Biden campaign announced earlier Thursday that he had tested negative for COVID-19, the eighth time the campaign has released negative test results for the former vice president.
Harris and her husband also tested negative for coronavirus on Thursday, according to an aide, but she will not return to in-person campaigning until Monday after her communications director tested positive Wednesday night.
The campaign's statement said the crew member who tested positive previously tested negative three times since Oct. 4, most recently on Oct.11.
"The person was contacted as part of our contact tracing on Thursday morning, reported symptoms, sought a test for COVID-19, and was positive. A second test confirmed the positive result around noon today," according to the statement.

WHO finally admits lockdowns are harmful, “doubling” global poverty
The World Health Organization (WHO) has finally come to its senses in condemning the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) lockdowns that it earlier supported, admitting that they in fact created a “ghastly global catastrophe” by crashing the world economy.
Speaking on behalf of the WHO’s United Kingdom envoy, Dr. David Nabarro urged world leaders in an appeal to stop “using lockdowns as your primary control method,” and to instead allow people to live their lives as normal while encouraging the “vulnerable” to protect themselves as they normally would.
The only thing lockdowns achieved, according to Nabarro, was poverty, which makes them a no-go for countries that want to actually survive this crisis. Continuing to lock down businesses, sports facilities and other societal necessities will only lead to more misery, more poverty and ultimately more death, he warns.
“Just look at what’s happened to the tourism industry, for example in the Caribbean or in the Pacific, because people aren’t taking their holidays,” Nabarro further explained.
“Look what’s happening to poverty levels. It seems that we may well have a doubling of world poverty by next year. Seems that we may well have at least a doubling of child malnutrition because children are not getting meals at school and their parents, in poor families, are not able to afford it.”
The WHO is right, for once
Nabarro’s words are a stark contrast to those uttered by WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, who back in April offered full support for lockdowns and even warned that lifting them too soon might cause a “spike” in COVID-19 cases.
At the time, Ghebreyesus had nothing but gushing praise for nations like the U.K. and France, which utilized lockdown and other “tools at their disposal to tackle any new spikes.”
Should the lockdowns continue, however, there will very soon be a “doubling” in the levels of world poverty and child malnutrition, Nabarro warns. By 2021, poor people are going to become “an awful lot poorer,” Nabarro claims.
“I want to say it again: We in the world Health Organization do not advocate lockdowns as a primary means of controlling this virus,” Nabarro further added.
“And so, we really do appeal to all world leaders: Stop using lockdown as your primary control method. Develop better systems for doing it. Work together and learn from each other.”

Dems want Feinstein out
https://www.commondreams.org/news/2020/10/15/arms-over-failed-barrett-hearings-watchdog-calls-feinsteins-removal-ranking-member
Angered by her soft approach during this week's confirmation hearings for President Donald Trump's Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett—on top of her failure to embrace progressive reforms to the nation's highest court—the head of a progressive judicial watchdog group on Thursday called for Sen. Dianne Feinstein's removal as the leading Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee.
"It's time for Sen. Feinstein to step down from her leadership position on the Senate Judiciary Committee," said Brian Fallon, executive director of Demand Justice, in a statement. "If she won't, her colleagues need to intervene."
During Tuesday's hearing for Barrett's confirmation, Fallon was among the many vocal critics of Feinstein's performance.
In his statement on Thursday, Fallon argued that Feinstein "has undercut Democrats' position at every step of this process, from undermining calls for filibuster and Court reform straight through to thanking Republicans for the most egregious partisan power grab in the modern history of the Supreme Court."
"If Senate Democrats are going to get their act together on the courts going forward," Fallon said, "they cannot be led by someone who treats Sunrise activists with contempt and the Republican theft of a Supreme Court seat with kid gloves."

Portland Protests Have Been "Hijacked By Criminals" And Downtown Residents Are Now Pleading For Law And Order
Downtown Portland residents appear to be at their wits end, pleading for a respite from what has been nightly violence and chaos that started as "peaceful protests" months ago.
Those protests have now been "hijacked by criminals" causing "violence and destruction", according to local CBS affiliate KOIN.
The Portland residents continue to support the Black Lives Matter message, the report says, but have been speaking out about attacks on the city, saying they "harm progress made by the racial justice movement".
Over the weekend, statues of Presidents Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln (you know, of the Emancipation Proclamation) were overturned during an event called “Indigenous Peoples Day of Rage.”
The event led to damage at "the Oregon Historical Society building, the Portland State University campus public safety office, a jewelry store, multiple restaurants, a coffee shop, a bank and a phone store," according to KOIN.
A local deli owner showed KOIN the damage and shattered windows at his store. He said: “It’s the strangest thing to be quite honest. I’ve been here about ten years, I could’ve never have imagined that we’d be where we are today in Portland.”
Portland's Mayor, Ted Wheeler, continues to sit idly by and allow the city to be torn to shreds. And we're sure when tax revenue falls off a cliff and property values crash over the next year or two amidst and exodus from the city, Wheeler will blame President Trump and white supremacy for the problems.
Wheeler told KOIN he is "committed to doing what it takes to make people who are downtown feel safe…" before tacking on a qualifier to the end of that statement: "…while still listening to those fighting for equality and police accountability."
Portland has cut $15 million from its police budget since May, which resulted in the loss of a gun violence team and transit police.
Resident John Toran, despite Wheeler's obvious incompetence, concluded: “America has a dirty past but we’ve evolved quite a bit and to me that’s a lesson to the rest of the world, that we can evolve. I believe that’s part of our system. Are we a perfect country? No. But I wake up hoping we can be better and better every day.”
Sure, John. Talk to us after the "peaceful protesters" show up on your front lawn and shatter your windows.

China Sells Dollar Bonds Directly To US Buyers For The First Time, Gets Record Demand
On Thursday, China for the first time sold dollar-denominated bonds directly to US buyers and with the Chinese 10Y offering a record 2.5% pickup in yield compared to 10Y Treasuries, it's hardly a surprise that demand was off the charts.
The $6 billion bond offering which took place in Hong Kong, drew record demand, in part due to the attractive yield offered by Chinese paper and in part due to China's impressive recovery from the coronavirus, with an orderbook more than $27 billion, or roughly $10 billion more than an offering of the same size last November, according to the FT, which added about 15% of the offering went to American investors.
The $6BN USD-denominated bond offering was as follows:
$1.25BN in 3-year dollar bonds at 0.425%
$2.25BN 5-year dollar bonds at 0.604%
$2BN 10-year dollar bonds at 1.226%
$500MM 30-year dollar bonds at 2.310%
The yield on the 10-year bond was about 0.5% above the equivalent US Treasury, and helped the bond sales receive “a strong reception from US onshore real money investors”, said Samuel Fischer, head of China onshore debt capital markets at Deutsche Bank, which helped arrange the deal. Other arrangers of the bond sale included Standard Chartered, Bank of America, Citigroup, Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan.
What was unique about today's offering is that unlike previous issuance, "the debt was sold under a mechanism that gave institutional investors in the US the chance to buy in."
Somewhat surprising is that frictions between Beijing and Washington had no impact "at all" on demand from US buyers, which included an American pension fund, one banker told the FT. In fact, the strategic timing of the bond sale which was arranged by the Chinese government just weeks before Americans head to the polls for the presidential election was meant to show "how tightly the financial systems of the two countries are linked, despite a trade war and tensions over technology and geopolitics."
"This is the investor community showing confidence in [China’s] recovery," said another banker on the sale, who added that “US investor participation in Chinese paper is not reduced by any means."
Analyst responses were broadly enthusiastic about the offering:
Frances Cheung, head of macro strategy for Asia at lender Westpac, said the issuance suggested Beijing believed restrictions on access to dollar funding were “very unlikely to become a policy option” for Washington.
Hayden Briscoe, head of fixed income for Asia Pacific at UBS Asset Management, said the bonds would help “set the benchmark” for Chinese corporates such as petrochemical groups Sinopec and Sinochem, which also borrow in dollars. "A lot of their expenses are in US dollars, and they borrow in the dollar market to match funds to that." He added that the bonds benefited from strong demand partly due to their scarcity value. "There’s so few of them and they suit sovereign wealth fund type buyers — they tend to just disappear."

Dianne Feinstein faces calls to step aside after Amy Coney Barrett hearing
Going into Judge Amy Coney Barrett’s Supreme Court confirmation hearings, progressives made clear they wanted to see fire from Senate Democrats. Instead, led by California Sen. Dianne Feinstein, Democrats largely gave them pleasantries.
Some on the left called the hearings evidence that Feinstein should step down as the top Democrat on the Judiciary Committee. But others say the approach was exactly what the party needed in the middle of an election in which control of both the White House and Senate is at stake.
President Trump’s nominee to fill the seat of the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg ended the week on a glide path to be confirmed before the Nov. 3 election. The committee scheduled a vote for Oct. 22 to send her nomination to the full Senate. Barrett, who says she shares the judicial philosophy of former Justice Antonin Scalia, would shift the court to a 6-3 conservative majority likely to last years.
It was clear even before the hearings that there was almost nothing outnumbered Democrats could do to prevent the Senate from confirming Barrett. But progressives wanted Democrats — and especially Feinstein — to create fireworks in hopes of casting the GOP’s rapid timeline to seat Barrett as illegitimate, given Republicans’ refusal to let then-President Barack Obama fill a court opening before the 2016 election.
But the California Democrat stayed in character through the four days of hearings, treating Barrett and Republicans politely, making small talk with Barrett about her career as a working mother of seven, and at one point remarking she was “really impressed” with the former law professor’s answer about legalities surrounding the Affordable Care Act. She closed the hearings Thursday by thanking committee Chairman Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., for how he conducted the process and sharing a hug with him.
“This has been one of the best set of hearings that I’ve participated in,” Feinstein told Graham. “I want to thank you for your fairness. … Thank you so much for your leadership.”
Even California Sen. Kamala Harris, the Democratic vice presidential nominee, delivered a performance less memorable than her previous questioning of court nominees and Trump administration figures. Partially limited by her decision to appear virtually because two committee Republicans tested positive for the coronavirus, Harris also spent some of her time delivering campaign-style speeches that appeared more aimed at the broader electorate than progressives who wanted militant tactics to slow Barrett’s confirmation.
Progressives were dismayed, particularly with Feinstein.
Brian Fallon, a former Senate aide who runs Demand Justice, an organization that works to push the judiciary to the left, called Thursday for Feinstein to step down as top Democrat on the committee.
“She has undercut Democrats’ position at every step of this process, from undermining calls for filibuster and court reform straight through to thanking Republicans for the most egregious partisan power grab in the modern history of the Supreme Court,” Fallon said in a statement.
The group’s chief counsel and co-founder, Chris Kang, who helped run Obama’s judicial nomination process, said the narrative at the end of the hearing was not about the rushed process, and called that a failing of Democrats.
“Thanking Sen. Graham is appalling, and it’s sort of not that surprising as the rest of the committee often defers to the leadership of the committee, that we didn’t see the kind of fight and fire that we hoped for,” Kang said. “I think Republicans at times showed more outrage for their fictitious concerns than Democrats did for their actual outrage of what’s happening to the Supreme Court right now.”
“Enough is enough, @SenFeinstein. You must end this charade, treat this hearing like the sham that it is, and do everything in your power to block Republicans’ efforts to permanently change the country. This is not how an open democracy should be,” the Sierra Club tweeted Wednesday.
Feinstein issued a statement Thursday saying that “the Senate is structured so the majority had absolute control over this process. When Republicans signaled they’d move ahead in the face of all objections, the only thing we could do was show this nominee would radically alter the court, and we accomplished that.” She said she would vote against Barrett’s confirmation.
Marge Baker, executive vice president at the progressive group People for the American Way, said Democrats were right to focus their questioning largely on health care, often displaying photos of people to illustrate their points in the hearing room.
But Baker said some of Barrett’s non-answers to Democratic questions spoke volumes.

Barack Obama mocks Donald Trump’s calls for he and Joe Biden to be charged with crimes
Donald Trump has been on a tear against his predecessor Barack Obama in recent weeks. Today the former president responded.
Former US president Barack Obama has hit back at Donald Trump’s repeated calls for him to be indicted and prosecuted, dismissing the President’s theories as “absurd”.
Since he left Walter Reed Medical Centre earlier this month, Mr Trump has been more fixated than usual on his belief that Mr Obama directed US intelligence agencies to illegally “spy” on his presidential campaign in 2016.
In an interview with Fox Business last week, the President said Mr Obama, his 2020 election opponent Joe Biden and his 2016 opponent Hillary Clinton should all be indicted and charged with crimes.
“Unless Bill Barr indicts these people for crimes, the greatest political crime in the history of our country, then we’re going to get little satisfaction unless I win,” he said.
“And we’ll just have to go, because I won’t forget it.”
Mr Trump has also been tweeting about the subject, often in all caps.
Overnight Mr Obama appeared on Pod Save America, a podcast hosted by his former staffers Jon Favreau, Tommy Vietor and Jon Lovett.
It was never going to be a hostile interview, so keep that in mind as we run through the questions they asked Mr Obama, along with his responses.
“President Trump keeps tweeting that the Attorney-General should indict you or indict vice president Biden for spying on his campaign,” Vietor said.
“The allegation is absurd. It’s false. It’s seemingly part of just his general rage at any discussion of Russian interference in the 2016 campaign. It’s remarkable to me how used to this kind of language (Washington) D.C. has become.
“Is it weird for you when he tweets that you should be indicted?”
“Well look, as you said, this is something that even his fellow Republicans tend to just pretend doesn’t happen,” Mr Obama said of Mr Trump’s comments.
“They kind of dodge reporters when they’re asked about it. The allegations are so absurd that even Republican-controlled committees looking into it have dismissed them. And you know, Attorney-General (William) Barr has dismissed them.”

FCC chief says Facebook and Twitter will face greater regulation after NY Post Biden debacle
"They do not have a First Amendment right to a special immunity"
The chairman of the Federal Communications Commission issued a statement warning that change is coming to the rule governing the federal regulation of companies like Twitter and Facebook after New York Post Biden debacle.
Ajit Pai tweeted his statement via his official social media account on Thursday.
"Members of all three branches of the federal government have expressed serious concerns about the prevailing interpretation of the immunity set forth in section 230 of the Communications Act. There is bipartisan support in Congress to reform the law," said Pai.
Pai noted that Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas opined that internet platforms have been granted protections by courts that extend far beyond the original intent of the law.
"The Commission's General Counsel has informed me that the FCC has the legal authority to interpret Section 230. Consistent with this advice, I intend to move forward with a rulemaking to clarify its meaning," Pai continued.
"Throughout my tenure at the Federal Communications Commission, I have favored regulatory parity, transparency, and free expression. Social media companies have a First Amendment right to free speech," he concluded. "But they do not have a First Amendment right to a special immunity denied to other media outlets, such as newspapers and broadcasters.
Pai didn't mention the controversy over the banning of the NY Post Biden story, but critics and supporters alike immediately connected his announcement to the scandal.
"This is a major announcement"
Pai's announcement was greeted with applause from those who have been demanding an expansion of federal oversight over the more prominent social media companies.
"This is a major announcement from FCC on #BigTech. Now Congress must act on #Section230," said Republican Sen. Josh Hawley of Missouri. He went on to mock free market conservatives who decried big government intervention.
Others, like FCC commissioner Jessica Rosenworcel, perceived the announcement to be motivated by the political agenda of President Donald Trump.
"The FCC has no business being the President's speech police," said Rosenworcel.

The security guard caught on video gunning down a US Navy veteran at a Denver right-wing rally will be hit with a second-degree murder charge in the viral incident, prosecutors said Thursday.
Matthew Dolloff, 30, has been held without bail on suspicion of first-degree murder since shooting Lee Keltner following the demonstration at Denver’s Civic Center Park on Saturday.
The city medical examiner ruled Keltner’s death a homicide two days later.
Denver District Attorney Beth McCann said on Twitter Thursday Dolloff will now be charged in Denver District Court on Monday with second-degree murder and could face up to 48 years in prison if convicted.

Awesome Coast Guard Begins At-Sea Testing of Unmanned Surface Vehicles to Tackle Illegal Fishing, Crime..
The Coast Guard has begun at-sea testing of unmanned surface vehicles off the south shore of Oahu to see if the autonomous craft can help provide persistent maritime domain awareness in remote areas of the large ocean, the service announced.
The test and evaluation, which began last week and will run through Nov. 5, is being conducted by the U.S. Coast Guard Research and Development Center and local Hawaii units and will focus on USVs from manufacturers Saildrone and Spatial Integration Systems, as well as a Coast Guard-owned autonomous research vessel made by Metal Shark.
“This evaluation will examine each vessels’ ability to provide persistent maritime domain awareness, especially in remote areas of the oceans. While potentially applicable to many Coast Guard missions, there is potential these technologies will help enable the Coast Guard to better protect critical natural living marine resources from Illegal, Unreported, and Unregulated(IUU) fishing and other illicit activities,” reads a Coast Guard press release.
In February, the Coast Guard announced it would award two contracts for a combined value of about $1.8 million to “assess low-cost, commercially available autonomous solutions to improve maritime domain awareness in remote regions of the Pacific Ocean.”
According to the announcement, California-based Saildrone and Virginia-based Spatial Integrated System Inc. would operate the vehicles during the test event as contractor-owned and contractor-operated USVs.
“The RDC will conduct a 30-day demonstration in the Central Pacific this summer to gather information including range of detection, appropriate sensor packages to provide desired outcomes, and how communications flow between the USVs and command centers,” reads the February news release.
Saildrone noted in a press release over the summer that its USV package includes the vessel itself that is designed to be at sea for as long as 12 months; detection sensors including optical cameras, automated identification system (AIS) receivers, and optional radar or infrared cameras for night-time capabilities; and artificial intelligence and machine learning software that takes the images, picks out targets of interest and alerts the operator of what it’s found – important, given that the likely Coast Guard mission will involve a lot of roaming around in open ocean and waiting to see if ships or animals appear amid the blue sky and blue water.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has also used the Saildrone USVs to collect data on seafloors, weather and fish and wildlife. NOAA and the Navy earlier this year announced a partnership on unmanned maritime vehicles as each organization is learning how to test and buy the vehicles, develop policies for safe operations and manage the plentiful data the unmanned systems send back.
The Navy is particularly interested in working with NOAA on collecting and sharing oceanographic data, for which NOAA has already begun using the Saildrones on a contractor-owned and -operated basis.

List of 40 Bronfman-Funded Lawsuits – She Claims They Were Meritorious – Victims Said They Were Used as Weapons to Destroy Them
One of the considerations in the sentencing of Clare Bronfman to 81 months in prison was her history of vexatious litigation. Her attorney, Ronald Sullivan argued that every lawsuit was meritorious and that she won most of her lawsuits.
Sullivan told the court, without providing evidence, that “most of the litigation claimed to be vexatious was, in fact, successful in courts of competent jurisdiction.”
Her victims said she funded litigation against them for years for no purpose other than to destroy them. Four women in particular spoke at her sentencing to discuss the relentless nature of Bronfman-funded litigation. They were Toni Natalie: here ; Susan Dones: here; Barbara Bouchey: here; and Kristin Keeffe: here
They claim that Bronfman could afford a battery of attorneys and sue in various courts making her opponents spend all their money – and causing them great emotional and psychological damage.
Since there is a wide disparity between what Clare’s attorney claimed and what her victims say – and since the sentence is going to be appealed – let us take a look at Clare’s record of funding lawsuits.
Of 40 lawsuits, Clare was victorious in three cases.
Most cases were dismissed without a victor, other than the lawyers.
The following list of cases are ones where either Clare was a party or she funded the lawsuit, usually along with her sister, Sara.

It's Almost Impossible to Get COVID-19 on an Airplane, New Military Study Suggests
A new military-led study unveiled Thursday shows there is a low risk for passengers traveling aboard large commercial aircraft to contract an airborne virus such as COVID-19 – and it doesn't matter where they sit on the airplane.
Researchers concluded that because of sophisticated air particle filtration and ventilation systems on board the Boeing 767-300 and 777-200 aircraft the planes tested for the study airborne particles within the cabin have a very short lifespan, according to defense officials with U.S. Transportation Command, the Defense Advanced Research Project Agency (DARPA) and Air Mobility Command, which spearheaded the study.
"The favorable results are attributable to a combination of the airframes' high air exchange rates, coupled with the high efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filtration recirculation systems, and the downward airflow ventilation design which results in rapid dilution and purging of the disseminated aerosol particles," Vice Adm. Dee L. Mewbourne, deputy commander of U.S. Transportation Command, said during a virtual roundtable with reporters.
DARPA teamed up with biodefense company Zeteo Tech, scientific research company S3i and the University of Nebraska's National Strategic Research Institute (NSRI) for the trials. Industry partners included Boeing and United Airlines.; the study was funded by TRANSCOM, according to Army Lt Col Ellis Gales, spokesman for the command.
"All areas on both aircraft proved to be extremely effective in dispersing and filtering out the aerosol particles," said Navy Lt. Cmdr. Joseph Pope, TRANSCOM Operations directorate liaison for the airflow particle test. "So specifically, can I tell you to sit in seat XYZ? No; they all performed very well."
During the tests, held Aug. 24-31, analysts released two types of aerosols that had specific DNA signatures. The tagged fluorescent tracers allowed for researchers to better follow their distribution path, both in flight and on the ground.
Sensors throughout the aircraft measured over 300 iterations of aerosol releases at rates of 2 to 4 minutes across four cabin zones on the 777, and three zones on the 767, Mewboourne explained. The dispersions were mapped in real-time, he said.
