Matt Whitake OpEd: Big Tech censorship is elites vs. you
With all of the attention surrounding election integrity, few pundits seem to notice or care that Silicon Valley tampers with our elections just as much as, if not more than, a hostile foreign government ever could.
Everyone from little-known Iowa songwriter Ryan Moore to the President of the United States himself is now subject to censorship by the Big Tech giants, who are abandoning the pretense of objectivity as they ramp up their crackdown on conservative content.
At this point, the reality of the censorship is not in serious dispute. As early as the beginning of 2019, there were rigorous quantitative analyses proving that Trump supporters are kept on a tight leash — apparently so tight that a low-profile songwriter like Moore can wind up in hot water simply for making a video while wearing a Make America Great Again hat. Meanwhile, leftists openly use every major social media platform to spread the most vile and violent messages with virtual impunity.
Their motivation is clear: The social media companies want to destroy the relatively open internet of 2015 and 2016 that enabled the MAGA movement to grow like wildfire and ensure that nothing like it ever happens again. The past four years have been one steadily turning ratchet of new rules and tools for censoring and silencing disfavored voices. Left-leaning journalists write hit pieces and bring pressure campaigns until their pro-Trump competitors are banned from the public sphere, then applaud Big Tech for “finally doing something.”
Social media today is almost unrecognizable from the environment that gave rise to the Trump movement. Many of the Facebook meme groups, snarky Twitter accounts, and right-wing YouTube channels that fueled the MAGA revolution are long gone. Those that remain, along with national commentators who rely on their social media accounts to make a living — as well as millions of ordinary citizens like Ryan Moore — know they walk on thin ice every time they post an opinion, no matter how innocuous they might think it is at the time.
As we speed through the final months before Election Day, Silicon Valley’s clear intention to sway the election to Joe Biden has become undeniable. Confident that they will face no consequences for their actions under a potential Biden administration, the tech giants have stopped hiding their desire to tilt this election in the Democrat’s favor.
Just last month, Twitter blocked tweets by the President of the United States — twice — for “glorifying violence,” simply because he insisted violent rioters and looters be met with the force of law and order. In addition, Amazon’s Twitch platform banned the official Trump Campaign channel for “hateful conduct,” Facebook banned official Trump Campaign ads, Google threatened to cut off the vital ad revenue of pro-Trump outlets The Federalist and Zerohedge, YouTube banned dozens of influential Trump-supporting accounts, and Reddit outright destroyed “r_thedonald,” the biggest pro-Trump discussion forum on the internet.
It’s difficult to view this as anything other than an effort on the part of Silicon Valley to help Joe Biden stumble his way into the White House. The fiction that these actions are somehow part of neutral “anti-hate” efforts has now been exposed by the censors themselves.
These are the same people who insisted that Russians buying Facebook ads was a grave threat to our democracy in 2016, yet they see nothing wrong with using Big Tech’s unprecedented power over public discourse to silence a huge swath of American public opinion. America was designed to foster a vibrant marketplace of ideas. Big Tech moderating that marketplace is unacceptable and dangerous. Our republic demands more and diverse voices not less.
That’s real election interference, and it is a grave threat to our democracy.

Gun Control Sneaks by Lackadaisical Republicans
House Republicans were asleep at the wheel this week and missed a major piece of gun control legislation buried deep in the original text of H.R. 6395, a $740.5 billion National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) on Tuesday—legislation they had unanimously voted out of committee. While the House Armed Services Committee vote to move the bill to the Floor of the House of Representatives two weeks ago went swimmingly for interested parties, the road to the finish line was brutal. Hundreds of amendments were proposed, and the parliamentary proceedings to sort through the mess forced members to physically stand on the chamber floor for a series of votes over the course of two consecutive days—excruciating work indeed. Eventually around 5:30 PM on Tuesday evening, the bill passed, 295-125 with a veto-proof majority. There were 9 Republicans not voting, 108 voting “yea,” and 81 voting “nay.” With this final passage, the U.S. House of Representatives finished its work on this spending “masterpiece,” and more than half of Republicans were now on record in support of “red flag” gun confiscation orders (GCOs) for the Armed Services. On page 343 of 1427 lay a section stating: “a military court protective order issued on an ex parte basis shall restrain a person from possessing, receiving, or otherwise accessing a firearm.”
Understood in context, Section 542 of the bill codified a new “red flag” gun confiscation order program enforceable against any person subject to the United States Code of Military Justice—meaning both active duty military and retirees, among others. Because these would be issued on an ex parte basis, the gun owner would get no notice, no attorney, and no ability to defend himself against the accusations—in short, no due process. You might ask, what is gun control doing in an annual national defense appropriations package? But anti-gunners had asked themselves a better question at least several weeks earlier: why not enact gun control in a national defense bill? Gun owners should count themselves lucky that the final text of the 2021 NDAA will be determined through conference negotiations in the coming weeks with Senate Republicans and the White House.

Acting CBP Commissioner: Portland Mayor Is Telling Feds to Go Home, But Not Criminals
On Saturday’s broadcast of the Fox News Channel’s “Fox & Friends,” acting Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Mark Morgan slammed Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler by saying that the mayor is telling federal agents and officers to stop acting under their statutory authority and to “watch the criminals burn the seat of American justice to the ground.” Morgan also stated that the mayor, “instead of telling the criminals to go home,” is telling “the federal agents doing their job, protecting Americans to go home.”
Morgan said that the claim that it is the federal agents and officers who are inflaming the situation and creating violence is “preposterous” and it is “unbelievable.”
He continued, “So, the mayor in Portland is saying, federal agents and officers, you go home. Stop doing your statutory authority, and watch the criminals burn the seat of American justice to the ground. That’s what [we will] see. So, instead of telling the criminals to go home, he tells the federal agents doing their job, protecting Americans to go home. It’s outrageous. It’s ridiculous. And it’s dangerous.”
Morgan also stated that Wheeler and Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan (D) of “putting politics over public safety.”

Archbishop Viganò: ‘Heresy, sodomy, and corruption’ are trademark of ‘deep church’
These three elements – heresy, sodomy, and corruption – are so recurrent that they are almost a trademark of the deep state and of the deep church
July 25, 2020 (LifeSiteNews) – Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò has pointed out three elements that have become what he calls the trademark of the deep Church: “heresy, sodomy, and corruption.”
In a new wide-ranging interview with Vatican expert Marco Tosatti (read full interview below), the Vatican whistleblower speaks about the deeper significance of the case of former Cardinal McCarrick in relation to the “doctrinal crisis” the Church is facing.
“There is a very strict relationship between the doctrinal crisis of the Church and the immorality of the clergy, that scandalously reaches up to the highest levels of the hierarchy. But it is also apparent that this crisis is being used by the ultra-progressive wing not only to impose a false morality together with a false doctrine, but also to irremediably discredit the Holy Church and the Papacy before the faithful and the world, through the action of its own leaders,” stated the Archbishop.
Viganò says that a “gay lobby” has “infiltrated into the Church and that is literally terrified that good pastors will shed light on the influence that it exercises in the Secretariat of State, in the Congregations of the Roman Curia, in the Dioceses, and over the entire Church.”
“Bergoglio has surrounded himself with compromised and thus blackmailed personalities, whom he has no qualms about getting rid of as soon as they risk compromising him in his media image,” he said.
Viganò said that “these three elements – heresy, sodomy, and corruption – are so recurrent that they are almost a trademark of the deep state and of the deep church.”
—
Marco Tosatti’s introduction: The commitment of Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò, the former Apostolic Nuncio to the United States of America, to denounce the veil of silence and cover-ups in the management of abuse cases by members of the clergy, is well known. The spicy and annoyed response by the Vatican authorities – and in particular of various prelates – to the well-argued refutations of the combative prelate is also well known. In this interview, we investigate with His Excellency the developments in the case of former Cardinal McCarrick, also in light of a recent article at Church Militant entitled The McCarrick Bombshell. (1)
But before we get into the content of this article, let’s make a brief review. From February 21 to 24, 2019, a meeting was held in Rome of all of the Presidents of the Bishops’ Conferences on the topic of The Protection of Minors in the Church. (2) A few days earlier, on February 16, 2019, the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith announced the dismissal from the clerical state of Theodore McCarrick, who was accused of other serious crimes, and added: “The Holy Father has recognized the definitive nature of this decision made in accord with law, rendering it a res iudicata (i.e., admitting of no further recourse).” (3)

Interview
Marco Tosatti: Your Excellency, can you tell us what the news is on the McCarrick case?

Sen. Tom Cotton and Bill Hagerty: Make China Pay for Pandemic, Make ‘Made in USA’ America’s Theme Again
CLARKSVILLE, Tennessee — Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) and GOP U.S. Senate frontrunner, former U.S. ambassador to Japan Bill Hagerty, laid out a detailed vision to hold China accountable for the coronavirus pandemic and stop the Chinese Communist Party from continuing to build global influence all while bringing manufacturing especially of critical goods back to the United States.
In an exclusive interview with Breitbart News after a series of campaign events in the Nashville area and here in the home of Fort Campbell and the 101st Airborne Division, of which Cotton was a part when he served in the Army, Cotton and Hagerty ripped into Communist China. Cotton was campaigning with Hagerty for his contested GOP U.S. Senate primary and laying out the case of why President Donald Trump asked Hagerty to run for this seat and endorsed him for it a year ago—an endorsement the president firmly stands behind. The joint interview aired on Breitbart News Saturday on SiriusXM 125 the Patriot Channel. In it, Cotton and Hagerty both demonstrate their expertise when it comes to China and focus on their efforts to bring manufacturing back to the United States.
“I’m here in Tennessee today supporting Bill Hagerty for the same reason President Trump is supporting Bill Hagerty—because Bill will be a strong, reliable conservative voice in the United States Senate,” Cotton told Breitbart News. “He will stand up for American jobs and American workers. He’s already stood up to China in so many ways as our ambassador to Japan, and when it wasn’t popular in some Republican circles in 2016 Bill Hagerty supported Donald Trump. He worked hard to get Donald Trump elected, to beat Hillary Clinton. He walks the walk, he doesn’t just talk the talk. He will be a great United States Senator and that’s why I endorsed him and that’s why Donald Trump has endorsed Bill Hagerty.”
Hagerty, Trump’s former ambassador to Japan, spent the early days of the Trump administration on the front lines of the trade war with China—a prelude to the broader battle that looms ahead in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. Hagerty told Breitbart News that a big part of why President Trump asked him to come back from Japan and run for this seat being vacated by retiring Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-TN)—and then endorsed him early and often for it—is because the president trusts Hagerty when it comes to the core issue of dealing with the Chinese Communist Party.

Stanford Professor of Biophysics Claims US COVID Will Be Done In 4 Weeks by Late August
Dr. Michael Levitt, a Stanford professor who also has a degree from Cambridge, claims that COVID-19 in the US will basically be over in 4 weeks.
Dr. Michael Levitt sends a message of hope to America and the world:
This is good news indeed. Let’s see how the Democrats and Dr. Fauci spin this to keep the economy shut down and businesses foreclosing.

WE charity scandal - A simple guide to the new crisis for Trudeau
Mr Trudeau is facing the third ethics investigation of his five years in office over the government's decision to award a contract worth up to $43.5m to WE Charity Canada.
The programme was designed to connect post-secondary students to paid volunteer opportunities to make up for summer job prospects that had disappeared during the pandemic.
It later emerged that Mr Trudeau's mother and brother had been paid for speaking at various WE events over the years.
Margaret Trudeau was paid C$250,000 for speaking at 28 WE events over four years, and brother Alexander was paid C$32,000 for speaking at eight between 2017-2018.
Mr Trudeau has also made regular appearances himself - including its first ever event in 2007, according to news site iPolitics - and his wife, Sophie Gregoire-Trudeau, hosted a wellness podcast for the charity.
The prime minister didn't recuse himself from discussions related to the decision to grant WE the contract. He has apologised for that.
The federal ethics watchdog has confirmed his office is looking into the matter.
Trudeau admits 'mistake' amid third ethics inquiry
"This country is governed by a fairly small circle of elites and there's a cult of the insider that buttresses this, that produces these kinds of scandals fairly routinely," says Canadian political theorist David Moscrop.
"That's the structural problem - that Canada ends up being a small country governed by a small handful of people."

His finance minister under pressure
Like Mr Trudeau, federal finance minister Bill Morneau's family had ties to WE Charity. Two of his daughters are associated with the organisation, one of them as an employee.
Mr Morneau testified earlier this week before a House of Commons finance committee looking into the matter that his family had taken two humanitarian trips, to Kenya and Ecuador, to see WE Charity's overseas work.
He said he recently realised he had not paid C$41,000 in related travel expenses for those visits and has since cut a cheque.
WE said in a statement that, while the trips were complimentary, the minister has reimbursed the organisation for the amount they would have been charged if they had paid at the time.
The charity said it regularly holds tours for "well-known philanthropists" like Mr Morneau and his wife, who both come from wealthy Canadian families.
Opposition parties are now calling for him to resign or be fired for the trips, which they argue breached ethics rules.
Mr Moscrop suggests while the WE trip funds could easily have been oversight "rather than malice" it can create "cynicism, anger and frustration, and all that at the time of a pandemic is doubly troublesome".
The finance minister is currently being looked for possible ethics violations for failing to recuse himself from related discussions - for which he apologised.

WE is under the microscope
WE Charity was founded 25 years ago by brothers Craig and Marc Kielburger in their parents' home in Ontario when Craig was 12 years old.
Formerly known as Free the Children, the charity focused on ending child exploitation and quickly drew international recognition.
Its co-founders became local celebrities, and have appeared on television programmes such as the Oprah Winfrey Show and 60 Minutes.
The charity's WE Day motivational conferences have become rites of passage for many Canadian youths, who are drawn to its message they can change the world and to its roster of celebrity speakers and performers.
It is now a wide-ranging organisations with operations in the UK, Canada, and the US.
WE withdrew from the federal programme early this month because it had been "enmeshed in controversy from the moment of its announcement", the organisation said.
But the scrutiny over the contract has extended to the charity itself, raising questions about its sprawling organisational structure, ties between its social enterprise branch and its charitable entities, and its internal culture.
On Friday, the Globe and Mail reported that some partners and sponsors, including the Queen's Commonwealth Trust and Virgin Atlantic Airways, are reviewing their relationships.
In mid-July, the charity said it has decided to make both governance and structural changes and to refocus its original mandate of international development, and would hire outside consulting firms for a review.

Students are left in limbo
Rahul Singh, executive director Global Medic, a Toronto-based charity that provides emergency humanitarian aid, said he was initially excited by the volunteerism programme, this week telling Canadian parliamentarians it seemed like a "perfect and a natural fit" for his organisation.
Despite the controversy, the programme did receive over 35,000 applications and had 83 not-for-profit partners.
It's now in an apparent holding pattern following WE's withdrawal.
Mr Singh has numerous student volunteers enrolled in the programme and says he was told the federal government would step in after the WE partnership fell apart. He said he had yet to hear back.
"Now I'm very concerned that the students will not get a bursary," he told the House committee, later adding: "I'm very worried about people falling through the cracks because of poor policy decisions."

It's beginning to harm his support
The federal Liberals still hold a slight lead over their conservative rivals, but opinion surveys suggest the controversy is taking its toll.
National Liberal support has slipped since the revelations came to light, as have Mr Trudeau's approval ratings, according to a 20 July poll by Abacus Data.
Reactions to how the government handled the matter trend negative across the country, including among some 40% of people who voted for the Liberals in last year's election, the poll indicates.
It is likely it will remain in the headlines for a while.
Mr Trudeau has a minority government, giving opposition parties more control of the agenda and the tools to "drag it out as long as possible", says Mr Moscrop.
The prime minister, as requested by the opposition Conservatives, and the Kielburgers will also be making appearances before the House committee in the coming days.

"It would be a black swan of epic proportions, China’s Chernobyl moment. Seattle Riot: Police Arrest 16 After ‘Explosives’ Thrown at Officers
The Seattle Police Department declared a riot and arrested 16 people after “explosives” were thrown at officers when a protest turned violent in the city’s Capitol Hill neighborhood on Saturday.
FOX 10 reports:
Up to 1,000 protesters gathered about 2 p.m. Saturday for a peaceful march in solidarity with unrest and violent demonstrations in Portland. By 4 p.m., crowds had broken away from the protest, setting fires to construction trailers at the Juvenile Detention Center and attacking camera crews. […]
Police reported multiple explosions in the area and multiple fires, including one inside the East Precinct, where rioters breached a security fence to vandalize the building. Police are investigating “possible explosive damage” to the walls of the East Precinct and more explosives being thrown at police.
Seattle police said the protesters were arrested for assaults on officers, obstruction, and failure to disperse. Prior to announcing the arrests, police shared a photo of flammable objects being hurled at officers.

A Russia Analyst Living In The US Has Been Identified As Christopher Steele’s Primary Dossier Source
The mystery of the primary source for dossier author Christopher Steele has finally been solved.
Igor Danchenko, a Russia analyst living in the U.S., has been identified as Steele’s primary source of information in the dossier.
Danchenko, who previously worked at the Brookings Institution, told the FBI in January 2017 that he was Steele’s source.
He undermined several of Steele’s core allegations regarding Donald Trump and members of his campaign.
A Russian-born analyst living in the United States has been identified as the primary source for Christopher Steele, the author of a now-debunked dossier regarding Donald Trump and members of his campaign.
Igor Danchenko, 42, was identified as the dossier source through a series of events that began with the July 17 release of an FBI memo of interviews conducted with Steele’s primary source in January 2017.
The FBI redacted all information in the memo that might identify Danchenko and six of his sub-sources, but a Twitter user pieced together clues from the memo — such that Danchenko worked as a “facilitator” and had studied in the United States — to identify him as the likely source. The Twitter sleuth created a blog laying out information about Danchenko.
On Saturday, The New York Times confirmed that Danchenko was the source.
“Mr. Danchenko is a highly respected senior research analyst; he is neither an author nor editor for any of the final reports produced by Orbis,” Danchenko’s lawyer, Mark Schamel, told the Times.
“Mr. Danchenko stands by his data analysis and research and will leave it to others to evaluate and interpret any broader story with regard to Orbis’s final report,” said Schamel, referring to Orbis Business Intelligence, the London-based firm owned by Steele.
Danchenko, a former analyst at the Brookings Institution, a liberal foreign policy think tank, undercut some of the dossier’s most explosive allegations about Trump and members of his campaign. His statements to the FBI also suggested that he has far fewer connections to Kremlin insiders than Steele’s allies and the media have suggested.
Danchenko told the FBI that he shared “rumor and speculation” with Steele that he received from his sources, but that Steele suggested in the dossier that the information was confirmed.
He said that he heard rumors that Trump had used prostitutes in a Moscow hotel room in 2013 and that the Kremlin had video tape of it. Danchenko said that one of his sources inquired at the hotel about the alleged incident but was unable to confirm that it happened.
The dossier’s other major allegations involve Carter Page and Michael Cohen, the former Trump lawyer.

Car Drives Through Mob of Protesters on Colorado Highway, Protester Shoots Fellow Protesters While Trying to Shoot Driver
A car drove through a crowd of protesters that were walking on I-225 in Aurora, Colorado, and a protester shot other protesters while trying to shoot the driver.
At least two protesters were hit or grazed by bullets as a fellow “protester” tried to shoot the driver. There were multiple gunshots on the car, but the people inside did not appear to be injured.
“While the protestors were walking on I-225, a vehicle decided to drive through the crowd. A protestor decided to fire off a weapon, striking at least 1 other protestor. They were transported to the hospital in stable condition,” the Aurora Police Department tweeted.
In a follow up, the department wrote that “Someone else showed up to the hospital with a graze wound. The vehicle was towed and we are investigating that incident.”
Nationalist Review founder Brett MacDonald noted that, ironically, “shooting at a vehicle that has already driven by is what two St. Louis area cops were charged for. These rioters better receive the same treatment.”
Videos of the car following the incident show at least one tire was popped, possibly by the mob. It is unclear if they hit anyone.
