Sen. Bernie Sanders will filibuster an override of President Donald Trump’s defense bill veto unless the Senate holds a vote on providing $2,000 direct payments to Americans.

“McConnell and the Senate want to expedite the override vote and I understand that. But I’m not going to allow that to happen unless there is a vote, no matter how long that takes, on the $2,000 direct payment,” Sanders said in an interview on Monday night. The Vermont independent can’t ultimately stop the veto override vote, but he can delay it until New Year’s Day and make things more difficult for the GOP.

The House passed the payment boost sought by Trump and Democratic leaders on Monday evening, and Trump said the Senate has agreed to “start the process” on a stimulus checks vote when he signed the $900 billion relief bill. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has yet to address the timing of such a vote.

Under Senate rules, Sanders has the ability to keep the chamber in during the holiday week and likely mess with the campaign schedules of Sens. David Perdue (R-Ga.) and Kelly Loeffler (R-Ga.). Those two face Jan. 5 runoff races for control of the Senate against Democrats Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock, who are both campaigning on the $2,000 checks.

A source close to Sanders said the Senate races were a factor in his decision — part of a bid to keep Perdue and Loeffler in D.C. and focus the campaign on their position regarding the $2,000 checks. Sanders also threatened to shut down the government earlier this month if the coronavirus relief bill did not include direct payments; ultimately it included checks of up to $600 and the government stayed open, though now Trump wants to go much higher.

Though veto overrides can be filibustered, as Sanders plans to do, it is a rare procedural move because the veto override already requires 67 votes and the filibuster is simply a delay tactic, according to the Congressional Research Service.

Sanders said he hopes McConnell allows a vote on the checks on Wednesday.

“The American people are desperate, and the Senate has got to do its job before leaving town,” Sanders said. “It would be unconscionable, especially after the House did the right thing, for the Senate to simply leave Washington without voting on this.”

It’s not clear whether there are 60 votes in the Senate for the $2,000 checks, which would require at least 12 Republicans to join with the chamber’s 48 Democratic Caucus members. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer plans to try and force a vote on the House-passed bill Tuesday, though any one member of the Senate can object and many conservatives oppose that level of spending.

Still, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) endorsed the $2,000 checks on Monday night and some House Republicans supported it on the floor, demonstrating a split in the party over whether to give Trump the checks he’s demanding as he prepares to leave office in January.

A History of Khazarian Jewish Conspiracies and Zionism

A beach in Cornwall was cordoned off after a dangerous device was found. The suspected unexploded ordnance was on Pentewan Beach, near St Austell.

The police attended the incident at about 1pm yesterday (December 28). A Royal Marines bomb disposal unit was also called to the scene. They carried out a controlled explosion of the device.

The video that you can watch above was taken by Ocean-Sports. It shows the spectacular explosion which was carried out just before 4pm.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Police received a report that a small suspected unexploded ordnance had been discovered on Pentewan Beach, St Austell, yesterday at around 1pm.

"Officers attended and were joined by a Royal Marines EOD (explosive ordnance disposal) unit which set up a 100-metre cordon and carried out a controlled explosion of a suspected ordnance at around 3.55pm."

I want to keep posting information about one of my "digs" because it is starting to seem to me that the information is getting "scrubbed" from the internet.

I took a bit of time to look at the US NIH its history and the involvement of Albert and Mary Lasker whose foundation provides funding for the Lasker Awards ("American Nobels")

Mary Lasker developed a very prestigious career involving herself in fund raising and seeking to increase medical research. However, it seems clear that she was also allied with people like Margaret Sanger and was a proponent of birth control, involving herself in one group that was likely a precursor to Planned Parenthood.

High court decision vacates two lower court rulings against Trump policy excluding illegal aliens from the population count on which apportionment of congressional seats is based.

The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday vacated two lower court decisions

that blocked the government from excluding illegal aliens

during the process of allotting congressional seats.

The decision to remand the two cases to lower courts "with instructions to dismiss for lack of jurisdiction" follows a ruling by the high court earlier this month that allows the Trump administration to pursue plans to exclude illegal aliens from the apportionment base.

Justices Stephen Breyer, Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan dissented from the high court's ruling yesterday, just as they had in Trump v. New York earlier this month.

"A complete, accurate census is about ensuring all our voices are heard and that our states get their share of resources to protect the health and well-being of all of our communities," California Attorney General Xavier Becerra said in a statement. "We remain committed to the core principle that everyone counts. Here in California, we'll continue to stand up for each and every person who calls our state home."

While the Supreme Court's Dec. 18 decision will allow the Trump administration to pursue the policy of excluding illegal aliens from the apportionment base, the ruling stated: "Consistent with our determination that standing has not been shown and that the case is not ripe, we express no view on the merits of the constitutional and related statutory claims presented. We hold only that they are not suitable for adjudication at this time."

President Trump in a July memorandum laid out a policy against including illegal aliens in the apportionment base following the 2020 census. "States adopting policies that encourage illegal aliens to enter this country and that hobble Federal efforts to enforce the immigration laws passed by the Congress should not be rewarded with greater representation in the House of Representatives," the memorandum stated.

Free expression makes America great. Unfortunately, many of our corporations don’t respect this concept. Time and time again, corporations bent the knee before outraged activists and stifled the free speech of ordinary Americans. We see this when social media giants regularly censor and ban individuals who run afoul of liberal orthodoxy. President Trump rails against this phenomenon for good reason–it undermines our fundamental liberties. Less noticed is the threat of financial de-platforming. This growing menace means those who dissent from the official left-wing line won’t even be allowed to bank or use a credit card. Fortunately, there is a new proposal that could put an end to this nefarious trend. The Office of Comptroller of the Currency recently drafted the "Fair Access to Financial Services" rule that would ban major banks from denying service to customers for non-financial reasons. The public can currently offer its opinion on the proposal through Regulations.gov. It stipulates that major banks may “not deny any person a financial service the bank offers except to the extent justified by such person's quantified and documented failure to meet quantitative, impartial risk-based standards established in advance by the covered bank.”

So if a customer has solid financial credentials, the bank cannot deny him service even if they find his political views “offensive.” The OCC’s proposal notes that this problem isn’t just limited to the Right–it affects all political persuasions. “The pressure on banks has come from both the for-profit and nonprofit sectors of the economy and targeted a wide and varied range of individuals, companies, organizations, and industries,” the proposal states. “For example, there have been calls for boycotts of banks that support certain health care and social service providers, including family planning organizations, and some banks have reportedly denied financial services to customers in these industries.” “Some banks have reportedly ceased to provide financial services to owners of privately owned correctional facilities that operate under contracts with the Federal Government and various state governments,” reads the proposal. “Makers of shotguns and hunting rifles have reportedly been debanked in recent years.” There is some evidence that left-wing groups need to worry about financial blacklisting, but the primary victims of it are those associated with right-wing causes. Take for example privately-run immigration detention facilities. Companies involved in this critical service have been punished by all the major banks. Institutions such as JPMorgan Chase, Wells Fargo and Bank of America cut ties to private detention facilities, blocking their ability to obtain a line of credit.

Banks are not supposed to have the power over our political speech–the OCC leadership gets that. “Banks don’t set national policy. They don’t choose what goods and services are available to consumers. Nor do they determine which industries are legal,” OCC acting comptroller Brian Brooks and OCC chief economist Charles Calomiris wrote in a Wall Street Journal op-ed. The likely targets of de-platforming understand this threat and back the Fair Access to Financial Services rule. “If major banks get to benefit at the expense of the American taxpayer, especially at times when many Americans are struggling to make ends meet, then, at a minimum, they can be required to respect those same Americans’ constitutional rights,” the NRA-ILA wrote in support of the rule.

Following its ruling earlier this month that allowed the Trump administration to remove illegal aliens from the 2020 Census count, the Supreme Court on Dec. 28 threw out two lower court decisions that went the other way, that barred the government from eliminating that population from the process of allocating congressional seats and Electoral College votes that officially determine the presidency.

In the cases Trump v. Useche from Maryland and Trump v. City of San Jose, California, the Supreme Court vacated the judgments of the lower courts, sending the cases back to those courts “with instructions to dismiss for lack of jurisdiction.”

The unsigned order didn’t explain why the court acted at this time, but referenced its 6–3 decision on Dec. 18 in Trump v. New York.

In Trump v. New York, the Supreme Court punted on some of the legal issues raised, allowing the Trump administration to try to implement its counting policy for now, even though processing of 2020 Census data is expected to wrap up in coming weeks. Existing law requires the president to file a mandatory reapportionment report with Congress, which could lead to reduced federal funding in states with large illegal-alien populations.

The Trump administration wanted illegal aliens removed from the decennial census count to prevent them from having an impact on the apportionment of political power among the states.

States and local governments, including so-called sanctuary jurisdictions, which refuse to cooperate with federal immigration officials, sued to prevent the administration’s plan from moving forward. They argued that President Donald Trump was attempting to interfere with the count and prevent Democratic-leaning areas with large illegal-alien populations from gaining congressional seats.

But in the Dec. 18 decision, the high court found that their challenge was premature because they couldn’t demonstrate any so-called concrete injury they might suffer. And it left open the possibility of further challenges in the future, acknowledging the Trump administration may have difficulty implementing its policy.

“At present, this case is riddled with contingencies and speculation that impede judicial review,” the court stated.

The three liberal justices, Stephen Breyer, Sonia Sotomayor, and Elena Kagan, dissented in the two rulings on Dec. 28 for the same reasons they dissented from the court’s ruling in Trump v. New York.

In that dissent, Breyer wrote, “The plain meaning of the governing statutes, decades of historical practice, and uniform interpretations from all three branches of Government demonstrate that aliens without lawful status cannot be excluded from the decennial census solely on account of that status.”

After the court acted on Dec. 28, California Attorney General Xavier Becerra said he disagreed with the new ruling in Trump v. City of San Jose.

“A complete, accurate census is about ensuring all our voices are heard and that our states get their share of resources to protect the health and well-being of all of our communities,” he said in a statement.

“We remain committed to the core principle that everyone counts. Here in California, we’ll continue to stand up for each and every person who calls our state home.”

Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden, who has declared victory in the still-contested presidential contest, has said he plans to nominate Becerra, a Democrat, to be secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

P. Benjamin DeWitt Duke of Covington & Burling, the counsel of record for litigant Natalia Useche in the other case, didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment from The Epoch Times.

Are House Democrats prepared to steal two elections?

Will Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi rob Iowa voters by seating Democratic House candidate Rita Hart instead of the actual election winner in Iowa's 2nd District, Republican Mariannette Miller-Meeks? Hart is challenging the certified election results and seeking for the U.S. House to declare her the winner. The same may occur in upstate New York, where Democratic incumbent Rep. Anthony Brindisi and former Republican congresswoman Claudia Tenney are separated by fewer than 20 votes. House Democrats refusing to validate certified election results in two closely contested districts is not exactly a crime. However, it certainly would rob voters in Iowa’s 2nd Congressional District and New York’s 22nd District of what they decided with their votes. This would unlikely bother Speaker Pelosi, as it would give her two more Democratic votes that are completely beholden to her. It is almost impossible to imagine a single action by Speaker Pelosi and House Democrats doing more to unite House Republicans and becoming more determined in their opposition. Recently, some House Democrats have openly suggested they might ignore these outcomes and simply seat the Democrats based on the Rules of the House that allow that body to make the ultimate decision as to who is allowed to hold office in the chamber.

It is certainly in Democrats’ playbook for keeping power and control. In 1985, when the Democrats were in the majority in the House, there was a very close election in the 8th Congressional District of Indiana. Republican Rick McIntyre was certified the winner by the Indiana Secretary of State. However, the House Democrats chose to ignore that outcome and seat the Democrat, Frank McCloskey. No Republican Speaker has ever required the House to take such action. There is every reason to believe that decision in 1985 set the stage for the bitterness and rancor that increases every year. House Republicans were rightfully outraged. Led by Newt Gingrich, Republicans walked out of the Chamber. The rest, as they say, is history.

Some will argue that House Democrats are not threatening democracy any more than what President Trump is doing with his court challenges and lobbying to have electoral votes given to him. It’s the equivalent of claiming apples are the same as oranges. Trump is asking others to allow an outcome he prefers. House Democrats are telling us they will decide for themselves what the outcome will be. The actual equivalent would be for Trump to claim that Bill Barr gets to decide who won the presidential election. State courts with a set number of years to serve do not get to tell the legislature that they have decided things should be as they are for federal judges. Thus, they will serve for life. Elections should be decided by the legal votes of those residing in a given jurisdiction, not by the whims of the party in the majority at any given point in time.

One final point about the action taken in 1985 leading down an ugly path. Gingrich, and a unified and emboldened group of House Republicans, vowed to put an end to “business as usual.” Their resolve led to taking down Speaker Jim Wright of Texas, and later establishing a Republican majority in 1994. The bottom line is simple. If Democrats indeed turn a blind eye to what the voters in Iowa and New York decided with their votes, Republicans will have no choice but to fight them on virtually everything. With many Democrats now mouthing the words of bipartisanship and unity, their actions would certainly result in unintended consequences.

In a case certain to test the limits of legal immunity in the digital era, a Delaware shop owner embroiled in the Hunter Biden laptop controversy has filed a $500 million defamation lawsuit against Twitter alleging he was falsely portrayed as a hacker by the social media giant. John Paul Mac Isaac filed the lawsuit Monday in U.S. District Court in Miami, far from the Wilmington, Del., computer repair shop where he claims that in 2019 a man identifying himself as Hunter Biden dropped off a laptop and never came back to pick it up. After Mac Isaac turned the laptop over to the FBI and a lawyer working for presidential attorney Rudy Giuliani because he believed it might contain evidence of wrongdoing, he became the focus of media stories, including in the New York Post. Democrats called the laptop Russian disinformation, and Twitter banned stories based on content gleaned from the laptop, suggesting such information violated the social media company's hacking policy. U.S. intelligence has said the laptop was not Russian disinformation, and federal authorities have confirmed they took possession of the laptop in December 2019. Hunter Biden recently revealed he is under federal criminal investigation for his tax affairs, though he denies any wrongdoing. Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey recently said it was a mistake for his firm to censor the stories.

It was Twitter's claim that the laptop material violated its hacking policy that triggered Mac Isaac's lawsuit, which alleges the social media company made several "false and negligent statements." "On October 14, 2020, Defendant locked the NY POST's account as it attempted to post and disseminate its exposé on the social media platform provided by Defendant," the suit claimed. "In addition to locking the NY POST's account, Defendant published that it was doing so because the NY POST's story violated Defendant's rules against 'distribution of hacked material.' "Defendant's actions and statements had the specific intent to communicate to the world that Plaintiff is a hacker," the suit alleged. "According to Merriam-Webster, a 'hacker' is 'a person who illegally gains access to and sometimes tampers with information in a computer system.' The term 'hacker' is widely viewed as disparaging, particularly when said about someone who owns a computer repair business. Plaintiff is not a hacker and the information obtained from the computer does not [constitute] hacked materials because Plaintiff lawfully gained access to the computer, first with the permission of its owner, BIDEN, and then, after BIDEN failed to retrieve the hard drive despite Plaintiff's requests, in accordance with the Mac Shop's abandoned property policy."

Mac Isaac endured negative reviews of his shop and other harsh actions as a result of the publicity, the suit alleges. His lawyers said they filed the case in federal court in Miami because Twitter has an office and "performs substantial activities in the State of Florida." Twitter's communications office did not immediately reply to a request for comment sent to its Twitter inbox Monday evening. The suit comes as lawmakers in Congress debate whether to repeal Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, which shields major digital companies from liability claims. Mac Isaac's suit is certain to challenge the claims of immunity in court just as Washington policymakers have a similar debate on the floor of Congress.

Partisan Wikipedia Editors Work Overtime to Protect CNN

When CNN became embroiled in controversy in 2017 after it threatened to identify the creator of a satirical image tweeted by President Donald Trump, left-wing Wikipedia editors had the Wikipedia article on the incident removed and its contents buried at the bottom of a page on CNN controversies. Editors proceeded to remove nearly a third of the CNN controversies article and have continued censoring the article up to the current year, including the controversy over its coverage of the 2020 election.

CNN’s own page is nearly devoid of any mention of past controversies, in stark contrast to Wikipedia pages on conservative media such as Fox News and Breitbart News, where controversies are mentioned at the very top of their main pages. Both outlets, among others, have also been the target of an ongoing purge of conservative media from the site, while CNN has been protected.

Roughly an hour after a Wikipedia page on CNN’s blackmail controversy was created, Travis Mason-Bushmann who edits as “NorthBySouthBaranof” on Wikipedia, started a discussion on redirecting the article to a “CNN controversies” page, where it would be one item among many. He cited a policy stating “not all verifiable events are suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia.” The editor had previously been banned from editing the page on GamerGate, the anti-corruption movement in gaming, due to his aggressive agenda-driven editing. The editor quickly attracted support from mainly left-wing Wikipedia editors, including five (“MrX”, “Volunteer Marek”, “Objective3000”, “Sagecandor“, and “ValarianB”) whose positions on deleting an article critical of the President evidenced a double standard as both articles were subject to similar policy complaints.

This “CNN controversies” page underwent a sweeping series of changes, the editors proceeded to remove nearly a third of the entire page. The extensive removals were first noticed on the Reddit community WikiInAction, which monitored abuses of power on the encyclopedia prior to a leftist takeover. While some of the deletions appear consistent with Wikipedia’s standards, many were not.

Removals by MrX included a paragraph about a CNN host’s comments appearing to praise a gunman who attacked Dallas police for which she later apologized. A section on Kathy Griffin’s fake Trump beheading photos, which led to her termination as co-host of CNN’s New Year’s Eve broadcast, was also edited by MrX to remove mention of the President noting the images upset his 11-year-old son Barron. Criticism Griffin received from Chelsea Clinton and CNN’s own Jake Tapper was also removed.

Volunteer Marek removed an incident where a CNN producer joked about Trump’s plane crashing and a section about CNN’s Jack Cafferty making inflammatory remarks regarding China that led to protests outside their offices. As the Cafferty material cited Reuters, this removal was apparently due to it citing the International Business Times, whose reliability was inconclusively challenged six years earlier partly over a perceived conservative slant to the outlet. More recent discussions have generally favored its use as a source.

One of the more egregious removals concerned a controversy involving then-CNN correspondent Candy Crowley’s questionable challenge of a claim by Mitt Romney about Obama’s response to the Benghazi attacks during the 2012 presidential debates. Marek removed it due to one of the sources being the Daily Caller, which many editors argue is unreliable, but the section twice cites ABC News. Given the pace of these extensive deletions it is unlikely either editor checked for additional sourcing beyond that cited in the article….
