no, i was in a state, medium sec facility. the only problem i ever had was around year 3 some new guy came in as a transfer from a high-max sec, he had to do a 7 year in our state
he aggravated a bunch of people almost instantly like within a week everyone was fed up with his shit and some people beat his ass.
personally i got checked my first month but i came clean immediately, and the guys who checked me let it pass because they already had my court papers,. usually what happens is theyll get your inmate id number, a corrections officer they know will run it, and pull YOUR ENTIRE HISTORY for them. they will approach you knowing exactly what you did, and if you lie in anyway your entire prison stay is going to be absolutely brutal.
i didnt have to join a gang
i didnt have to do favors
i ran a poker game and helped people write letters to loved ones(most had bad handwriting/low int) and ran survellience when some people were dojng tattoos and shit.
my girlfriend from highschool at the time waited for me, wrote me almost daily, we got married the day after i got home.
now we have 2 kids and i have a decent career doing prefab concrete installs
i think everything turned out alright
i did get to see a dude have stroke/heart attack and die before he hit the ground though that was pretty severe
