I know I have a lot of vocal All Lives Matter followers and I hope you read this. I am not trying to say that your life doesn’t matter nor am I supporting violence towards police IN ANY WAY EVER. I also see the beauty in the All Lives Matter sentiment, BUT because minority groups are targeted differently than white people, if we really want all lives to matter equally, then we (white people) have to get off our asses support our fellow americans (specifically those from under-represented communities) by lifting them up. It’s a level playing field when we all have equal rights and protections.

What I’m trying to do when I say #BlackLivesMatter is show you that the lives of black people matter LESS in our criminal justice system. Looks at the charts. Look at the numbers. Look at the years of systemic oppression. LOOK AT THEM. If you’re into educating yourself on the issue (which would be a great thing to do considering you may be about to fight me in the comments) I suggest you check out “13th” - a great documentary on Netflix.

If you are white, you most likely have the privilege of not having to be afraid of the police. You maybe even feel protected by them. AND GOOD! I hope more people one day have that privilege.
