TAMPA (WFLA) – Former President Donald Trump opened an “Office of the Former President” to announce his plans from his new base in Florida as he remains barred from most social media.

A statement from the office Monday night said it will manage Trump’s correspondence, public statements, appearances, and official activities to “advance the interest of the United States.”

The office will also “carry on the agenda of the Trump Administration through advocacy, organizing, and public activism,” the statement says.

The announcement came on the same day the House of Representatives delivered to the Senate an impeachment article charging Trump with inciting insurrection in a speech to supporters before the deadly attack on the Capitol on Jan. 6. The Senate trial is expected to start on Feb. 9.

Watch: Cargo Ship Battered By Heavy Seas Snaps In Half

A general cargo ship split in half and sank after it was battered by heavy seas off Turkey's Black Sea coast, according to Maritime Industry News Agency.

The vessel ARVIN (International Maritime Organization number: 8874316) was en route from Poti, Georgia to Burgas Bulgaria when the captain made the call to anchor at Bartin to protect the vessel from the storm.

Maritime Industry News Agency said, "most probably, the vessel couldn't stand against strong wind and waves, and either broke in two, or was overwhelmed while being anchored."

ARVIN is a river-sea cargo vessel that is not designed to handle the impact of rough seas. This is the likely reason the cargo ship split in half.

An alleged video of the incident was uploaded onto YouTube this weekend. It appears ARVIN's crew, stationed at the bridge of the ship, captured the moment the cargo ship split in half.

It was noted by Maritime Industry News Agency the vessel sank, with six crew members rescued, four dead, and three missing.

Continuing down the rabbit hole of recent maritime disasters, we noted a California-bound containership lost 750 containers due to "rough seas."

Last month, another containership headed for California lost a record 1,816 units, of which 64 are believed to be Dangerous Goods containers.

HONG KONG — Myanmar's military said Monday it took control of the country and declared a state of emergency for a year, hours after detaining civilian leader Aung San Suu Kyi and other leaders of her ruling National League for Democracy in a coup against the democratically elected government.

The raids came hours before a new session of parliament was scheduled to open and members who won the November elections were set to take their seats. Suu Kyi’s National League for Democracy won those elections in a landslide, capturing 396 out of 476 seats. It was Myanmar’s second democratic election since the country’s fragile transition from military rule to democracy.

NLD spokesman Myo Nyunt told The Washington Post that Suu Kyi, Myanmar President Win Myint and all chief ministers from their party, representing over a dozen states and regions in the country, were taken at gunpoint. A spokesman for his party was also detained, he said.

China's HNA Group reveals years of unusual cash movements

Companies under China's HNA Group have reported finding irregular outflows of billions of dollars in cash, an ominous development following moves by creditors to call for a bankruptcy restructuring of the formerly highflying conglomerate and its subsidiaries.

Within hours of HNA's revelation on Friday evening that creditors had filed a petition with the Hainan Province High People's Court to reorganize the group, several domestically listed subsidiaries alerted their shareholders to the discovery of the irregular outflows by a state-appointed working group. Hainan Airlines, HNA's flagship unit, said it expects to report a net loss of between 58 billion yuan ($9.02 billion) and 65 billion yuan for 2020, compared to a net profit of 543.18 million yuan a year earlier. Pandemic-related operating losses added up to about 16.5 billion yuan, the fourth-largest Chinese passenger carrier said, with the bulk of its red ink stemming from impairment losses mainly related to irregular financial dealings with HNA itself and other group companies. Hainan Air warned that it could be put on probation for potential delisting by the Shanghai Stock Exchange if its audited financials show an excess of liabilities over assets. The revelations "will make the (group's) restructuring process even more complex," said David Yu, a finance professor at New York University Shanghai who focuses on aviation. "As the corporate structure of HNA Group companies has always been very complex, with many related party transactions, guarantees and cross shareholdings, the disclosure of irregularities adds to the complexity and mystery of the group."

HNA Group was previously one of China's most acquisitive conglomerates, buying assets including the Radisson hotel chain, technology products distributor Ingram Micro, aviation services company Swissport Group and stakes in Deutsche Bank and airlines and airports in countries such as Brazil, Australia, Ghana, Turkey and South Africa. Beijing called a halt to the debt-fueled spree in 2017 to rein in financial risk. Amid continuing worries about HNA's stability, the previously privately run group last year came under the direct supervision of the Hainan government. "The asset sale program will have hit a snag as most of their assets are travel/transport-related which will have seen valuations hampered" amid the pandemic, said Michel Brekelmans, managing director of strategy consultancy SCP/Asia. "Hard to see how they can come out of this except through a bankruptcy and restructuring."

A directive from the State Council last October set off the accounting investigations by a working group including representatives of local state-owned enterprises, the state aviation regulator and state-backed China Development Bank, HNA's largest creditor.

Turkish maritime authorities have published some terrifying video showing a cargo ship breaking in half in a matter of minutes.

The incident took place January 17 when the Palau-flagged Arvin broke in half and sunk at a Black Sea anchorage off the Port of Bartin. The 1975-built ship was reported to be carrying 2,902 tons of urea.

DUBAI, Jan 29 (Reuters) – A move by South Korea towards releasing $7 billion in frozen Iranian funds may help spur Iran’s judiciary to resolve the seizure of a Korean ship being held for alleged environmental pollution, a senior Iranian lawmaker said on Friday.

Earlier this month South Korea’s vice foreign minister held talks in Tehran on the release of the South Korean-flagged MT Hankuk Chemi, which was seized on Jan. 4 by Iran’s Revolutionary Guards near the strategic Strait of Hormuz.

“Although the Korean ship’s seizure was only due to environmental pollution…, Korean action in expediting the return of Iran’s blocked funds may affect the judiciary’s decision in resolving the ship’s seizure,” lawmaker Mojtaba Zolnour was quoted as saying by the state news agency IRNA.

Zolnour, chairman of the Iranian parliament’s national security committee, spoke in a virtual meeting with the head of South Korean parliament’s foreign affairs and unification committee, IRNA said.

Iran has denied allegations that the seizure of the tanker and its 20-member crew amounted to hostage-taking, and said it was Seoul that was holding the Iranian funds “hostage”.

The freezing of some $7 billion of Iranian funds is linked to U.S. sanctions which Washington reimposed on Tehran in 2018 after then-President Donald Trump withdrew the United States from Iran’s 2015 nuclear deal with world powers. (Reporting by Dubai newsroom Editing by Mark Heinrich)

Myanmar’s military has taken power and declared a state of emergency after detaining civilian leader Aung San Suu Kyi and other senior government officials in a series of early morning raids that followed days of escalating tension over the outcome of the November election in which the ruling party won by a landslide.

A video address broadcast on military-owned television said power had been handed to the commander-in-chief of the armed forces, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing.

Myo Nyunt, the spokesman for the governing National League for Democracy (NLD) said earlier on Monday, that Aung San Suu Kyi, President Win Myint and other leaders had been “taken” in the early hours of the morning.

“I want to tell our people not to respond rashly and I want them to act according to the law,” he said.

Myanmar’s Parliament, where the military is given a quarter of seats and wields more power through its proxy Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP), was due to open in the country’s capital Naypyitaw from Monday.

Politicians from states and regions, as well as prominent political activists were also detained, while mobile and phone networks were seeing disruption. State media was also reported to be off-air.

Monday’s developments drew immediate condemnation from the United States and Australia.

“The United States opposes any attempt to alter the outcome of recent elections or impede Myanmar’s democratic transition, and will take action against those responsible if these steps are not reversed,” White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki said in a statement.

Australia said it was “deeply concerned” about the arrests.

“We call on the military to respect the rule of law, to resolve disputes through lawful mechanisms and to release immediately all civilian leaders and others who have been detained unlawfully,” Foreign Minister Marise Payne said in a statement.

Questioning election

The NLD won November’s elections by a landslide, but the military has been waging a months-long campaign to discredit the outcome, despite no firm evidence of wrongdoing.

The Supreme Court is currently considering its claims, but the situation escalated last week when Min Aung Hlaing threatened to abolish the constitution. On Saturday, the military appeared to backtrack saying media had taken the general’s comments out of context.

“The Tatmadaw will defend the 2008 Constitution and only act within the boundary of existing laws,” it said.

“The people of Myanmar had their say in November’s vote, and overwhelmingly sent the message that they reject army rule,” said Charles Santiago, the chair of ASEAN Parliamentarians for Human Rights and a Malaysian MP. “The military must respect the will of the people and allow parliament to proceed.”

Santiago urged the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, of which Myanmar is a member, to “immediately use all its diplomatic power to de-escalate the situation and allow democracy to prevail.”

Amid the rising political uncertainty, people in Yangon, the country’s biggest city and commercial capital, had begun flying the NLD’s red flag from their balconies in solidarity with the governing party, while banners had also been erected in the streets declaring support for the elected government.

“It’s at a critical juncture,” said Damien Kingsbury, a Myanmar expert at Deakin University in Australia. “It’s either the end of military involvement in Myanmar politics or it’s a coup. There’s no middle ground on this. This is crunch time.”

The last week has also been marked by rival protests in support of the NLD and the armed forces.

Myanmar, once a British colony, was led by the military for decades before it began a transition to democracy in 2008.

Aung San Suu Kyi is the only daughter of national independence hero Aung San, and spent years under the house arrest during the military regime.

<LGBT activists are cheering Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s announcement that he will reverse an order from President Donald Trump and put up “pride” flags at U.S. Embassies around the world.

The Biden administration is off to a hopeful start, as Secretary of State nominee, Antony Blinken, has confirmed a recommitment to LGBTQ rights.

In a memo from July 2020, former Secretary of Defense Mark Esper released a list of flags permitted to be displayed at U.S. military bases. Missing from the list was the LGBTQ pride flag, which Esper compared to the confederate flag. Prior to the ban, embassies raised the flag during pride month on the official embassy flagpole.

During the hearing, Blinken also confirmed that he plans to appoint an envoy for the Human Rights of LGBTQ persons, a position created by Barack Obama in 2015 that wasn’t filled during the Trump presidency.

Blinken claimed violence against that demographic increased while Trump was in office.

“We’ve seen violence directed against LGBTQI people around the world increase,” Blinken said. “And so, I think the United States playing the role that it should be playing in standing up for and defending the rights of LGBTQI people is something that the department is going to take on and take on immediately. Raising the pride flag is one way to outright show LGBTQ solidarity.”

“Biden is the first U.S. president to openly embrace a full range of queer rights, including transgender equality,” Outfront magazine reported.

A group of influential Korean retail traders has declared “a war against short sellers,” under a campaign they are calling “K-streetbets,” mimicking the punters on Reddit’s now-famous WallStreetBets forum who coordinated a surge in video-game retailer GameStop Corp. to squeeze short-sellers. On Saturday, the Korea Stockholders Alliance launched a “bus campaign” to get its anti-short-selling message heard.

The bus is painted with cartoons of people holding up signs that say things such as “I hate short-selling”, “short-selling should be abolished” and a call to have stocks regulator Financial Services Commission, which is in charge of resuming short-selling, “disbanded”. It will start driving around the capital Seoul from today for an hour every day until sometime in March. On its route: the Blue House, the FSC building, and the National Assembly in the city’s financial district. The push is the latest by the almost 30,000-strong group of day traders to make permanent a ban on short-selling imposed by Korea early last year to tame its markets as the pandemic spread. Korea imposed a ban on short-selling in March last year, joining several countries like France and Italy in halting trades against borrowed stock to tame markets as the pandemic worsened. This month, Indonesia will drop its ban, leaving just Korea as a major market globally that doesn’t allow the trading strategy. Korea is planning to extend the ban beyond its March 15 expiry, as the retail investors who dominate the stock market increasingly lobby against shorts.

More than 200,000 individual traders in Korea signed an anonymous petition posted on Korea’s presidential website, a threshold that requires President Moon Jae-in to answer the petition. Short sellers are “Korea’s axis of evil,” Jung Eui-jung, chief executive of the alliance, told Bloomberg in an interview, saying that Korea’s short selling rules favor professionals and not small traders like their group. Before the ban on shorting was imposed, the retail investors who came to dominate investing in the country last year faced tighter restrictions on short-selling than professionals. They see the trading strategy as the playground of foreign hedge funds intent on hurting local champions. While stocks in short-sellers’ sights like money-losing Gamestop and AMC Entertainment Holdings Inc. have captured the mania of U.S. day traders, once heavily shorted biotech plays are Korea’s amateur investor darlings.

Jung’s group said on its website that it wants to “protect” Korean companies Celltrion Inc., a $45 billion maker of biosimilars, and HLB Inc., whose cancer drug pipeline led its stock to surge 770% in 2019.

In the background, and unbeknownst to the public, Deputy AG Rod Rosenstein was working to facilitate the needs of Robert Mueller, quietly expand the scope of authorities to assist Mueller’s attack-dog Andrew Weissmann, and secretly was in direct communication with a man named Bill Barr to work the control angle against the office of the President, Donald J Trump…..

In mid 2018 it was apparent and predictable -as more information surfaced- the president would move to remove his ineffectual Attorney General, Jeff Sessions. It wasn’t a matter of ‘if’ Sessions would be removed, it was a matter of ‘when’ Trump would pull the trigger. Sessions recusal was a key element to the activity of the DC operation against Trump; if Sessions was removed, all of those in charge of constructing the cover-up operation would be at risk. Robert Mueller, Rod Rosenstein and now Bill Barr were developing a plan of action.

The Federal Reserve, The Corrupt US Corporation, and Blackrock

What did Trump do?

Understand, bankruptcy must have an orderly transition of resolution - and provisions were put in place to protect We The People during that process.

The Treasury deal with Blackrock allows them to print commercial paper instead, which acts as a backstop against commercial failure instead of liquidity injection. What this means is that the UK is now cut off from QE (they’re pissed) and the Federal Reserve now has a private American contender who supports a new Industrial vision, which moves America and it’s citizens forward.

It was the only way to reign them in, and keep the Corrupt Geopolitical Conglomerate from collapsing the Stock Market.

Read that again.

They were going to force the collapse of the stock market and further bind us to the scheme that benefited America the least.

Trump not only stopped them, but set in motion a domino effect that will completely destabilize their corrupt, Petrodollar leverage scheme.

Imagine that McDonalds represents the Federal Reserve, they hold a patent on burgers and nobody else can produce or sell them. What happened was that Trump backed Burger King, and now there’s 2 players. Setting a precedent, it’s conceivable that a Wendy’s crops up too. And more and more and more as the realization of the opportunity strikes. Competition occurring in the credit spreads, per each State, like it was 200 years ago before they decided to generationally leverage and control the government and citizens of this Nation through corrupt, geopolitical economic and population conditioning schemes, which solely benefitted their wealth cycles.

Now, each State has the opportunity to be responsible for their own. Think State banking and credit spreads - it opens the door for more economic transparency in each State - not one entity setting the rate on each State - because when there’s a monopoly at this scale, you can cover up A LOT of corruption. The Federal Reserve was covering up MASSIVE amounts of geopolitical corruption, and hiding losses in each State.

This was a brilliant part of the overall Trump Card that was played, along with some significant additional provisions - think Militarily, and in terms of National Security for We The People. Now couple that with eradicating the corrupt “Protection” scheme for the Elite with AI Warfare, systematically destabilizing the Blackmail Market, which protected Elite involvement and powered heinous backchannel economic industries, like child exploitation and human trafficking.

Now you have an 87 year old leveraged Billionaire jumping off a high-rise Penthouse, Rothschild and Getty heirs suddenly passing, and a whole slew of untimely power node deaths across the world in less than 13 days, followed by massive resignations of key leaders and entire foreign governments.

Part of the difficulty we face in discerning truth versus falsehoods lies in a disparity of comprehension. A lack of understanding.

Geopolitics and Economics are complicated, and overwhelming for the majority of Americans.

Mortgage Lenders, even “Conservative” family owned ones, are selling their notes to Government Agencies - facilitated by large centralized State banks, ie: they funnel it right back to the Federal Government, you literally can’t get free from the Fed unless you pay the Mortgage outright.

Example: American Finance is a family owned, highly rated “Conservative” valued and Conservative community promoted Mortgage Lender.

Either they have no clue what’s going on, or don’t care. Actions speak louder than words.

Ie: their Conservative “stance” is a DECEPTION that has lulled thousands of Patriots into a false sense of security.

Why? They sell their notes on the open market. Owning the notes of Patriots becomes easy targeting for corrupt entities. Most recently, Chase Bank is currently servicing it, while Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac own the notes. Now, thousands of Patriot notes, (homes and land) are actually owned by the Federal Government until payed in full.

This is accomplished through long term corrupt policy, unethically executed over the decades to force Lenders to normalize this as “accepted business practice,” because they “have no other option.”

State and Local Banks, Conservative Lenders, and Patriot Communities can unite together to fix these problems - and STOP the leveraged buy out of properties in the United States.

Think about this: ALL the interest you pay on your Mortgage and your Land Notes over time is going to support Corrupt Conglomerates that you would never actually CHOOSE to support, because you know they ultimately seek totalitarian control.

The Myanmar Action Network, established in 2014, convenes CGI members—representing corporations, NGOs, and social enterprises—working toward responsible and inclusive investment in the social and economic development of the country. Myanmar continues to capture the international community’s attention as a critical actor in Southeast Asia and an important frontier market.

With a population of 60 million, the country has the potential to quadruple the size of its economy by 2030. However, this growth depends on the resolution of a number of challenges in the country. Significant investments are required in energy, telecommunications, transportation infrastructure, education and workforce development, public health, and economic development. The primary focus areas in 2015 for the Action Network are: 1) enterprise development, 2) education and workforce development, 3) agriculture, 4) public health, and 5) energy.

Build and expand a community of CGI members—as well as CGI meeting programming—focused on this topic

Provide an opportunity for members to network, build partnerships, and educate one another about priorities, work underway, and challenges

Guide members active in this space toward concrete impact through the development of new Commitments to Action

Wall St set to bounce back as small-time traders pile into silver

Feb 1 (Reuters) - Wall Street’s main indexes were set for a higher open on Monday following a steep sell-off last week, as a shift in the retail trading frenzy to silver drove up mining stocks and investors awaited manufacturing data later in the day.

The iShares Silver Trust ETF jumped 9.6% in premarket trading as silver broke above $30 an ounce for the first time since 2013 with an army of retail traders storming into the metal after betting billions of dollars on stocks last week.

Silver miners Hecla Mining Co, Coeur Mining Inc and Wheaton Precious Metals Corp surged between 14% and 32%.

Wall Street’s main indexes last week logged their steepest weekly fall since October, as investors digested efficacy data from Johnson & Johnson’s COVID-19 vaccine trial results, while a slugfest between Wall Street hedge funds and retail investors added to volatility. The CBOE volatility index eased on Monday from three-month highs that were fueled by a surge in shares of GameStop Corp, AMC Entertainment Holdings and others that burnt hedge funds who had bet against the companies. GameStop was down about 1%, while AMC jumped another 25%.

The wild swings in the so-called “meme” stocks dominated news on Wall Street last week, even as Apple Inc, Microsoft Corp and other corporate heavyweights reported quarterly results. Of the 184 companies in the S&P 500 that have reported earnings, 84.2% have topped analyst expectations, well above the 75.5% beat rate for the past four quarters, according to Refinitiv data as of Friday.

Focus now turns towards quarterly earnings from Amazon Inc and Google-owner Alphabet Inc on Tuesday to wrap up results from the so-called FAANG group. Meanwhile, market participants also monitored stimulus talks. Ten moderate Republican U.S. senators urged President Joe Biden on Sunday to significantly downsize his sweeping $1.9 trillion COVID-19 relief package to win bipartisan support.

On the data front, ISM’s survey at 10 a.m. ET is expected to show factory activity ticked lower in January after approaching a near two-and-a-half year high in December. Electric-vehicle maker Tesla Inc gained about 3% as Piper Sandler raised its price target to the highest among the brokerages covering the stock.

India to proceed soon with 'cash for clunkers' scheme to boost car sales

India will make public within 15 days details of a “cash for clunkers” scheme which would spur around 10 billion rupees ($1.4 billion) in new investment and create as many as 50,000 jobs, road transport minister Nitin Gadkari said on Monday. India’s finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman said in her budget speech earlier on Monday there would be a new voluntary scrappage policy based on a fitness test for private vehicles older than 20 years and commercial vehicles older than 15 years.

“This will help in encouraging fuel efficient, environment friendly vehicles, thereby reducing vehicular pollution and oil import bill,” Sitharaman said. Automakers in India have been pushing the government for years to provide incentives for car and truck owners to scrap old vehicles for new ones - a move they expect will help to boost sales that are at multi-year lows.

Around 10% of the 3.7 million trucks and 5% of the 5.2 million cars on Indian roads could be eligible for voluntary scrapping, the Federation of Automobile Dealers Association of India estimated, using 1990 as a base year. It said the fine print of the scheme would determine the final impact on sales. Industry executives and analysts said that while the voluntary nature of the scheme could limit its impact, the incentives offered by the government would be crucial in determining its success. The plan is expected to have more impact on trucks initially and then private cars.

Puneet Gupta, director at data analytics firm IHS Markit, said there could be an annual sales boost of 5% for cars over and above natural demand. “It will act as a catalyst and replacement demand will definitely increase in India,” he said, adding that carmakers including Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai Motor and Tata Motors would be the biggest beneficiaries.

Apple is planning to issue dollar-denominated bonds in six-tranche deal

Apple Inc. AAPL, +0.69% has filed a preliminary prospectus for a six-tranche bond deal, underwritten by Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan and Morgan Stanley. The company did not specify deal size, but said it will offer dollar-denominated five-year, seven-year, 10-year, 20-year, 30-year and 40-year bonds. The iPhone maker has regularly tapped credit markets to finance its shareholder return program. Shares were up 1.5% and have gained 73% in the last 12 months, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, +0.57% has gained 6%.

Oregon law to decriminalize all drugs goes into effect, offering addicts rehab instead of prison

PORTLAND, Ore. – For Janie Gullickson, rock bottom came both slowly and all at once.

A long time drug and alcohol addict, Gullickson pushes back on the idea that one terrible day on the street leads to an epiphany and a climb back to normalcy. That’s what happens in movies, not real life.

“I lived in the bottom for years,” says Gullickson, now 52. “For me and people like me, I laid there and wallowed in it for a long time.”

But if she has to pick the lowest point – one that lasted years, not days, she says – it came shortly after she hit 30 in 1998. At that time, Gullickson had five kids by four different men, ages 5 to 11. She came home from work one day as a locksmith to find that her ex-husband had taken her two youngest and left the state. Horrified, devastated and convinced that this was the beginning of the end, her life quickly spiraled: She dropped her other son off with his dad, left her two daughters with her mom and soon became an IV meth user.

In prison six years later, Gullickson was contemplating joining an intensive recovery program when a “striking, magnetic gorgeous Black woman walked in the room, held up a mug shot and started talking about being in the very chairs where we were sitting,” Gullickson remembers. There was life on the other side of addiction and prison, the woman said. But you have to fight for it. Gullickson believed her.

“I remember thinking, I may not be able to do all that, be what she was, but maybe I could do something different than this,” Gullickson says. “That day, I felt the door open to change and healing.”

Now Gullickson, the executive director of the Mental Health & Addiction Association of Oregon, is determined to give other addicts the same opportunity. That’s why she pushed for the passage of Measure 110, first-of-its-kind legislation that decriminalizes the possession of all illegal drugs in Oregon, including heroin, cocaine, meth and oxycodone. Instead of a criminal justice-based approach, the state will pivot to a health care-based approach, offering addicts treatment instead of prison time. Those in possession will be fined $100, a citation that will be dropped if they agree to a health assessment.

The law goes into effect Monday and will be implemented over the next decade by the state officials at the Oregon Health Authority.

Advocates say the pivot will be life-changing for thousands of Oregonians.

“One of the things people misunderstand is how criminalization creates barriers to treatment,” says Kassandra Frederique, the executive director of the Drug Policy Alliance, a national nonprofit dedicated to legalizing illicit drug use. “If we want people to make different choices, we have to give them more options … ending criminalization will do leaps and bounds around ending shame, which automatically opens people up for other opportunities.”

Nationally, others are hopeful this could be the first in a wave of progressive measures that undo years of damage caused by drug criminalization, which disproportionately imprisoned people of color across the U.S.

“I hope that we all become more enlightened across this country that substance abuse is not something that necessitates incarceration, but speaks to other social ills – lack of health care, lack of treatment, things of that nature,” says Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman, D-N.J., an outspoken critic of the War on Drugs. “If you’re white and wealthy, you get an opportunity to get a break, go home to your family and go into some kind of health care environment.”

Constitution of Myanmar

The Constitution of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar (Burmese: ပြည်ထောင်စုသမ္မတမြန်မာနိုင်ငံတော် ဖွဲ့စည်းပုံအခြေခံဥပဒေ [mjəmà nàɪɰŋàɰ pʰwɛzíbòʊɰ ʔətɕèɡàɰ ʔṵbədè]) is the supreme law of Myanmar. Myanmar's first constitution adopted by constituent assembly was enacted for the Union of Burma in 1947.[1] After the 1962 Burmese coup d'état, a second constitution was enacted in 1974. The country has been ruled by military juntas for most of its history.

The 2008 Constitution, the country's third and current constitution,[2] was published in September 2008[3] after a referendum.

The Tatmadaw (Myanmar Armed Forces) retain significant control of the government under the 2008 constitution. 25% of seats in the Parliament of Myanmar are reserved for serving military officers. The ministries of home, border affairs and defense have to be headed by a serving military officer.[4][5] The military also appoints one of the country's two vice presidents.[6] Hence, the country's civilian leaders have little influence over the security establishment.[4][5]

1947 Constitution

The 1947 constitution was drafted by Chan Htoon and was used from the country's independence in 1948 to 1962, when the constitution was suspended by the socialist Union Revolutionary Council, led by military general Ne Win. The national government consisted of three branches: judicial, legislative and executive. The legislative branch was a bicameral legislature called the Union Parliament, consisting of two chambers, the 125-seat Chamber of Nationalities (လူမျိုးစုလွှတ်တော် Lumyozu Hluttaw) and the Chamber of Deputies (ပြည်သူ့လွှတ်တော် Pyithu Hluttaw), whose seat numbers were determined by the population size of respective constituencies.[12][13] The 1947 constitution was largely based on the 1946 Yugoslav Constitution, and several Burmese officials visited Yugoslavia earlier that year.[14]

1974 Constitution

Approved in a 1973 referendum, the 1974 constitution was the second constitution to be written. It created a unicameral legislature called the People's Assembly (Pyithu Hluttaw), represented by members of the Burma Socialist Programme Party.[15] Each term was 4 years.[13] Ne Win became the president at this time.

1988–2008

Upon taking power in September 1988, the military based State Law and Order Restoration Council (SLORC) suspended the 1974 constitution.[16][17] The SLORC called a constitutional convention in 1993, but it was suspended in 1996 when the National League for Democracy (NLD) boycotted it, calling it undemocratic.[17] The constitutional convention was again called in 2004, but without the NLD.[17] Myanmar remained without a constitution until 2008.[17]

2008 Constitution

On 9 April 2008, the military government of Myanmar (Burma) released its proposed constitution for the country to be put to a vote in public referendum on 10 May 2008, as part of its roadmap to democracy. The constitution is hailed by the military as heralding a return to democracy, but the opposition sees it as a tool for continuing military control of the country.

The legislative branch is the Assembly of the Union (ပြည်ထောင်စုလွှတ်တော်) Pyidaungsu Hluttaw, which is a bicameral legislature consisting of the 440-seat House of Representatives and the 224-seat House of Nationalities. Military (Tatmadaw) member delegates are reserved a maximum of 56 of 224 seats in the National Assembly and 110 seats of 440 in the People's Assembly.[18] This is similar to former Indonesian and Thai constitution.[citation needed]

The revisions in state structure, including the creation of self-administering areas were not implemented until August 2010.[19]

At the time of its release, foreign media often incorrectly alleged that the constitution barred Aung San Suu Kyi from holding public office because of her marriage to a British citizen;[18] in fact, she would only be barred from the office of President, under the disqualification of those who have a spouse or children who are foreign citizens. There is no similar disqualification for any other public office.

2008 constitutional referendum

On 10 May 2008[20] a referendum was held to outline the political framework of the country. According to Chief Justice Aung Toe, who is chairman of the drafting commission,

In drafting the constitution, the commission adhered strictly to the six objectives, including giving the Tatmadaw (the military) the leading political role in the future state.[21]

The government did not allow Cyclone Nargis to delay the referendum which took place as scheduled except in the delta areas affected by the cyclone.[22][23]

The National League for Democracy, which is led by Aung San Suu Kyi, was not allowed to participate in the creation of the constitution,[24] and urged citizens to reject[25] the constitution which it labelled as a "sham." The referendum itself passed the 2008 Constitution,[26] but was generally regarded as fraudulent by the opposition party and those outside of Burma.[27]

The SPDC reported a heavy turnout on both dates, with few voting irregularities. Opposition groups say the turnout was comparatively light, with many reported cases of voting irregularities, such as premarked ballots, voter intimidation, and other techniques to influence the outcome of the referendum.[28]

So…. has anyone dug on this whole GME Robinhood situation. Last night the CEO claimed on a Clubhouse chat with Elon Musk that the reason for their moves last week was because they were issued a capital call from the NSCC clearing house of 3 billion dollars.

I started looking into the NSCC and noticed they are a subsidiary of The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC). DTCC is located at 55 Water St in New York City. 55 watch the water street you say??

The CEO of Robinhood has revealed that the clearing house that handles all stock trades, the NSCC, demanded a $3 billion security at 3am in the morning during dramatic negotiations before the company stopped GameStop trades.

Speaking during a virtual event hosted by Tesla CEO Elon Musk, Vladimir Tenev offered an explanation behind his company's decision to Thursday to restrict the purchase of GameStop shares and several other stocks.

The controversial move, that sparked widespread outrage, came after short selling hedge funds lost billions when Redditors organised on the WallStreetBets page banded together to drive up the price of the video game retailer's share price, resulting in hedge funds losing billions of dollars. At 3 a.m. on Thursday, Tenev said that Robinhood's operations team was sent a file by the clearinghouse that handles all stock trades - the National Securities Clearing Corporation (NSCC) - requesting a security deposit of $3 billion. 'We have to put up money to the NSCC based on some factors including things like the volatility of the trading activity into certain securities,' he explained during a Clubhouse virtual event on Sunday night.

'And this is the equities business so it’s based on stock trading and not options trading or anything else.'

'So, they give us a file with the deposit and the request was around $3 billion, which is, you know, about an order of magnitude more than what it typically is.' Musk continued to press Tenev for answers, asking 'Everyone wants to know did something shady go down here?', to which Robinhood's CEO denied, saying the NSCC was 'reasonable' despite the request.

'I wouldn’t impute shadiness to it or anything like that and actually you know the NSPCC was reasonable,' he said, before adding that the regulator worked with Robinhood to lower the amount.

Musk pressed again, asking 'is anyone holding your hostage right now?' probing Tenev on whether the NSCC was bullying the trading app. Tenev avoided the question, saying 'thanks for asking', before calling the experience 'nerve wracking' and saying he was asleep at the time of the request.

He went on to tell Musk that he and the company's Chief Operating Officer called the 'higher-ups' at the NSCC to 'figure out what's going on.'

The NSCC agreed to lower the deposit amount to $1.4 billion, with Tenev saying that that was 'still a high number' before the team proposed how to manage the risk throughout the day, 'marking these volatile stocks - that were driving the activity - [with] positioning closing only,' he said.

'So, at 5.30, or five in the morning, they [the NSCC] came back and they said okay, the deposit [should be] 700 million, which we then deposited and paid promptly. And then, everything was fine,' he said.

He went on to acknowledge that as a result, 'this was a bad outcome for our customers. Part of what’s been really difficult is Robinhood stands for democratizing access to stocks.

Robinhood Raises Another $2.4 Billion From Shareholders

Robinhood Markets Inc. raised another $2.4 billion from shareholders, according to people familiar with the matter, days after investors agreed to pump $1 billion into the online brokerage to help it ride out a trading frenzy in popular stocks including GameStop Inc.

The $3.4 billion raised since last Thursday is more than the company has raised in its entire prior existence.

Robinhood has been flooded with demand to trade a handful of popular stocks over the past week. Sharp swings in the value of those shares prompted the clearinghouse that processes and settles trades to ask for more cash to cover potential losses on the transactions. Robinhood restricted trading in GameStop and other hot stocks as a result.

Burmese Leader Ousted For Vote Fraud In Military Coup Had Close Clinton, Soros Ties

Globalist liberal Aung San Suu Kyi was a close ally of leading Democrats

State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi, who was ousted on Monday by the military for purported fraud in Burma’s November elections, had close ties to the Clinton family and Barack Obama.

Former Secretary Hillary Clinton had developed a close relationship with Aung San Suu Kyi following the first meeting between the two liberal female politicians in 2011, and upon meeting, they began “strategizing”.

“After so many years of reading and thinking about this celebrated Burmese dissident, we were finally face to face,” Clinton wrote in Hard Choices, her account of her tenure as Secretary of State. “I felt we had known each other for a lifetime, even though we had just met…Soon we were chatting, strategizing and laughing like old friends.”

Clinton advised Aung San Suu Kyi to contest a parliamentary seat in the 2012 Burmese elections, which Aung San Suu Kyi ultimately did, kickstarting the latter’s formal political career in Burma, also known as Myanmar.

The admiration between the two liberals went both ways. Aung San Suu Kyi heaped praise on Clinton,

Aung San Suu Kyi also received strong support from then-President Barack Obama, who routinely advocated for her release from house arrest. Aung San Suu Kyi was arrested repeatedly during the 1990s and 2000s for “subversive acts”, following her involvement in riots against the Myanmar government.

Obama awarded her the U.S. Congressional Gold Medal in 2012, which she described as “one of the most moving days of my life”.

Ultimately, the Obama administration engineered Aung San Suu Kyi’s rise to power in 2015, by placing sanctions on Myanmar and insisting on only removing them if Aung San Suu Kyi was given a political role in the country.

Another important ally of Aung San Suu Kyi was progressive billionaire George Soros and his global NGO network, which strongly supported her activities.

“I have been and remain very much guided by her vision in my involvement in Burma,” Soros said after meeting her in 2012.

Soros’ Open Society Foundations (OSF) has had a ‘Burma Project’ since 1994, which worked for years to undermine the government of Myanmar. According to Myanmar’s Eleven Media, over 100 NGOs active in the country have received Soros funding:

George Soros, now 89 years old, has also been criticised as manipulating Myanmar’s politics with him supporting over 100 organizations through the Open Society Foundation (OSF), as stated on the foundation’s website.

DVB, Yangon Journalism School, Thabyay Education Foundation, Mal Daw Clinic, Equality Myanmar, Myanmar Observer Group Media Group, Institute for Strategy and Policy: Myanmar, Myanmar Institute for Peace and Security, Pen Myanmar, Myanmar China Pipeline Watch Committee, Myanmar Center to Empower Regional Parliaments, Network for Human Rights Documentation Burma (ND-Burma), Bangladesh Legal Aid and Services Trust, Irrawaddy Publishing Group are amongst many that have been stated as partners by the OSF. The OSF had also stated that Fortify Right group, a group fighting for Bengali rights under the title human rights, was also funded by it once.

Much like Aung San Suu Kyi, leading Democrats in the United States have also been accused of committing widespread vote fraud and then refusing to allow any investigation into the evidence produced regarding it.

State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi, the leader of the liberal National League for Democracy (NLD) party, served as the de-facto leader of the country, despite being constitutionally ineligible for the office. She ruled through her proxy, President Min Wynt, who was the formal leader of the country. The arrangement bears some similarity to the relationship between Vice President Kamala Harris and President Joe Biden in the United States. Both Aung San Suu Kyi and President Min Wynt were arrested by the military on Monday morning.

Will Joe Cotchett's Divorce History Haunt Him?

Joe Cotchett, the Joe Biden fundraiser and longtime friend who is largely responsible for the Biden administration’s upcoming federal judge picks, was accused by his ex-wife in his divorce case of physically abusing his children and making his daughters uncomfortable for walking around naked in front of them.

Politico Playbook reported: “The Biden administration’s transition team has tapped powerhouse Bay Area attorney Joe Cotchett to chair a key committee to recommend federal judges to Biden. “You saw what Trump did, in appointing 200-plus federal judges,’’ he told POLITICO in an interview. Cotchett’s friendship with Biden goes back 45 years — so, he said, he has agreed to help the new administration work quickly to identify qualified federal judges who will apply for senior status, so those seats can be filled quickly and efficiently.”

Kamala Harris’ ex-boyfriend Willie Brown also recently stated that Cotchett is leading a commission to recommend judges to Biden. Cotchett is co-chairing the commission of lawyers, according to California Courts Newsroom.

As National File has noted, Joe Cotchett, a San Francisco trial lawyer, reportedly co-hosted a $1,500 to $10,000 per head fundraiser for Joe Biden’s presidential campaign in October 2019 in Palo Alto, California. Cotchett is closely tied to Biden. Described by POLITICO as “a longtime friend of Biden’s and prominent West Coast Biden bundler,” Cotchett lobbied for Tammy Duckworth to become Biden’s running mate. But Cotchett previously tried to seal records pertaining to his divorce, and certain allegations made by his art critic ex-wife Victoria.

SF Weekly reported on May 23, 2007: “In her March 28 sworn declaration, she accused Cotchett of being a name-calling tyrant, one who would push his kids’ faces into their plates, or pull them away from the table by their hair when they didn’t finish their meals. She also described him as a foul-mouthed heavy drinker who averaged one bottle of wine each evening and drove with a plastic glass of wine, sometimes when the girls were in the car with him. She claimed her hubby liked to walk around the house naked — even as the couple’s two daughters grew older and became uncomfortable with his nudity. When she asked him to stop, he allegedly screamed he would do “whatever he fucking well pleased,” according to her court declaration. (Cotchett filed depositions of a nanny and a housekeeper who said they never witnessed any sort of abuse.)”

Biden’s vice president Kamala Harris previously said that she believes a coterie of women including a former Nevada lieutenant governor candidate who accused Joe Biden of touching them inappropriately or kissing or sniffing them. This past statement could come back to haunt Harris now that she is Biden’s running mate.

“I believe them and I respect them being able to tell their story and having the courage to do it,” Kamala Harris said in April 2019, speaking in Nevada.

Sen. Amanda Chase is filing a federal lawsuit against the Senate of Virginia after she was censured last month.

The Democratic-controlled state Senate voted 24-9, rebuking Republican Senator Amanda Chase for what they call a “pattern of unacceptable conduct.” The censure comes after she voiced support for those who stormed the U.S. Capitol.

According to an announcement from Chase’s team, attorneys are filing a lawsuit on Monday against the Senate of Virginia in United States District Court in the Eastern District of Virginia for a civil rights violation.

“I’m going to continue to speak the truth. I will continue to do so in a way that I feel helps people to listen. I don’t think I’ve said or misspoken,” said Chase last month. Chase represents Virginia’s 11th District and is also running for governor.

“Free speech is not absolute. We all have freedom of speech. We can’t yell ‘fire’ in a theater. We can’t make seditious comments or insightful comments. We can’t slander others. Many of the comments that Senator Chase made were in line with that,” said Democratic Senator John Bell, who represents Virginia’s 13th district and introduced the resolution against Chase.

“Today, Attorney Tim Anderson of Anderson and Associates in Virginia Beach, will file a federal lawsuit on behalf of plaintiff Senator Amanda Chase, candidate for Governor in the Commonwealth of Virginia, in the United States District Court in the Eastern District of Virginia, against the Senate of Virginia for a civil rights violation, related to the public censure issued against her as a Virginia State Senator for their intentional, knowingly and deliberate violations offending the First and Fourteenth Amendments of the United States Constitution as well as a total disregard to follow its own due process rules in issuing the censure.

The Plaintiff has received a public censure from the Virginia Senate for speech and expression that is protected under the United States Constitution, namely free speech and political expression. The issuance of a censure, issued by the Virginia Senate, was unlawful and contrary to the Plaintiff’s Constitutional rights. This Court can provide redress the harm to the Plaintiff by declaring rights of the parties, issuing injunctive relief regarding the censure and expungement of the censure to the Plaintiff. In all reported cases of censures of state elected officials in the nation, none have been based solely on the speech of an elected official.

This censure of the Plaintiff violated the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment as the Plaintiff is being singled out and selectively penalized for taking unpopular political positions that the majority of the members of the Virginia Senate disagree with. Deliberate and intentional violation of established rules and protocols regarding public censure violates the Due Process clause of the Fourteenth Amendment of the United States Constitution.

Senator Chase is seeking the issuance of a temporary and permanent injunction against the Defendant Susan Clarke Schaar from allowing the publication of SR91 in the official journal of the Virginia Senate pending the outcome of this case; issue a declaratory judgment that the Censure of Plaintiff violated Plaintiff’s First Amendment rights under the United States Constitution; issue a declaratory judgment that the Plaintiff did not engage in Disorderly Behavior pursuant to Article Four Section 7 of the Virginia Constitution; order the Defendant, the Honorable Susan Clarke Schaar to expunge the Substitute Censure and the Original Censure from the Public record and the official journal of the Senate; order the Defendant The Honorable Susan Clarke Schaar to reinstate the Plaintiff’s seniority rank existing prior to the issuance of SR91; provide a speedy hearing to determine the rights of the Plaintiff pursuant to FRCP 57; and grant an award of attorney fees and costs, as well as any other such relief as this Court may deem appropriate.”

As Govt Eyes Tax Rises, British Taxpayer Burden is Already at 70-Year High

The burden on the British taxpayer has hit levels not seen in 70 years, yet the Treasury secretary is considering tax hikes to make up for the massive budget shortfalls incurred during the Chinese coronavirus crisis and the ensuing lockdowns.

Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak is reportedly mulling tax hikes in response to soaring government debt, which have already reached 100 per cent of GDP. The new debt, largely incurred through furlough payments to workers forced to stay at home, could rise above £400 billion this year.

The Chancellor is said to be considering increasing the capital gains tax from 20 per cent to up to 45 per cent, an increase on fuel duties, and raising corporation tax from 19 to 24 per cent — a raid on individuals and businesses to pay for the government’s coronavirus lockdown spending spree.

If Sunak were to introduce the tax hikes, the notionally Conservative government under Prime Minister Boris Johnson would usher in a level of taxation unseen in the UK since the post World War II era under Clement Atlee’s Labour government, according to the Taxpayers’ Alliance, The Telegraph reported.

The chief executive of the low-tax campaign group, John O’Connell, warned that a capital gains tax would adversely affect the prospects of an economic recovery.

“Capital gains tax is a double tax that harms investment, which is precisely what we should avoid if we want to kick-start growth and help create jobs,” he said.

Adding: “The sustained tax burden is now the highest it’s been since the country was recovering from the Second World War 70 years ago, and any tax rises in the next Budget will put that figure even higher.

“In these difficult times, the Chancellor should give hard-pressed families and businesses a respite from taxes, offer a rescue to struggling sectors and try to revive the economy.”

While the 2019 Conservative Party manifesto pledged not to increase VAT, inheritance, and National Insurance taxes, there was no pledge to keep corporation or capital gains taxes down.

Aside from increasing taxes, the Mr Sunak is also reportedly looking to cut spending in the government’s March budget, as opposed to the infrastructure spending push favoured by Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

From April to December of last year, government borrowing rose by some £271 billion, with £34 billion borrowed in December, alone, the third most for any month in British history and the most expensive since the start of the pandemic.

Despite the rising debt, borrowing money will remain cheap for the generally robust UK economy, however, reflecting the view of global investors that the UK government is a low-risk debt to lenders. The S&P credit rating agency forecast that the UK will pay less on its debt than it is currently, despite the rising costs of the economic shutdown.

A sovereign debt specialist for the agency, Frank Gill, said: “Our calculation is that the average rate that the UK is paying on its debt today is around 1.8 per cent. That compares to a little over 3 per cent in 2014, so the cost of funding really is very low and we expect it to remain well below the UK’s growth performance over the next few years.”

“The likelihood is that they’ll probably pay even less on their debt in three years’ time than they do today,” he added.

Last week, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) reported that unemployment in the UK hit five per cent for the first time in over four years, with more than 200,000 people losing their jobs in the three months up to November.

In total, some 828,000 fewer people were employed per company payrolls as of December compared to February 2020, the month before lockdown measures were introduced.

These Are The Shadowy New York Financial Institutions That Forced Robinhood To Restrict Trading In Certain Stocks

A lot of people are blaming Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev and the heads of other major trading platforms for the stock trading restrictions that we witnessed last week, but it was actually the DTCC that suddenly jacked up deposit requirements ten-fold. Robinhood and other trading platforms were put in a vise-like grip, and they had no choice but to act. Someone needs to investigate how these decisions were made at the DTCC, and if laws were broken those that were responsible for the decisions need to go to prison. We are being told that retail traders needed to be brought under control “for their own good”, but it was the reckless short selling of the big hedge funds that actually set the stage of last week’s chaos.

Why doesn’t anyone ever talk about restricting their exceedingly foolish trading strategies?

Of course the small fish are not supposed to beat up the big fish like that, and the billionaires at the big hedge funds undoubtedly reached out to their powerful friends for help.

There had been speculation that the big hedge funds leaned on Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev and the heads of other large trading platforms directly, but the truth is more complicated. It turns out that the pressure on Robinhood and other major trading platforms came from the clearinghouse level. The following comes from a piece in USA Today that was authored by Vlad Tenev himself…

In a matter of days, our clearinghouse-mandated deposit requirements related to stocks increased ten-fold. These deposits are the collateral we post to ensure our access to clearinghouse services on behalf of our customers. They are what led us to put temporary buying restrictions in place on a small number of securities that the clearinghouses had raised their deposit requirements on. As we noted in a blog on Friday, it was not because we wanted to stop people from buying these or any stocks — we built Robinhood to provide access to investing for all. And it certainly wasn’t because we were trying to help hedge funds.

Tenev didn’t mention it by name, but the company that clears almost all of Robinhood’s trades is the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation.

In 2011, DTCC settled the vast majority of securities transactions in the United States and close to $1.7 quadrillion in value worldwide, making it by far the highest financial value processor in the world. DTCC operates facilities in the New York metropolitan area, and at multiple locations in and outside the United States. Theoretically, the DTCC is supposed to be a neutral participant in the markets.

The brilliance of this excuse is that it only proves the skeptics and conspiracy-theory believers right. DTCC is a for-profit monopoly that sits at the heart of America’s financial system. It is controlled by the biggest Wall Street institutions and responsible for all public equity settlement. A subsidiary of it literally owns every single share of publicly traded stock in America. Yes, you read that correctly. You don’t actually own your shares of Apple or Microsoft, they do. You are only allowed to enjoy the financial benefits of being an investor because your corporate overlords let you. Why? Because the government wants it that way (the fact that financial firms like DTCC always donate a lot of money to politicians has nothing to do with it.) Of course the DTCC is not actually the top of the pyramid.

The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation, the National Securities Clearing Corporation and the Fixed Income Clearing Corporation are all managed “under the umbrella” of a shadowy entity known as Cede and Company…This small New York based financial institution has a dozen directors and no more than a half dozen employees but holds, according to some reports, some 34 trillion dollars in assets.

A complex system of interlocking bodies, such as The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation, the National Securities Clearing Corporation and the Fixed Income Clearing Corporation oversee all stock trading in the US. They all come under the umbrella of Cede.

Tunisia: Ex-president says country witnessing struggle for power

Former Tunisian President Moncef Marzouki has criticised what he considered to be a "fight for power" in the country between the president and the parliament, warning that this would negatively affect the country's stability.

In a post on Facebook, Marzouki commented on Parliament Speaker Rached Ghannouchi's remarks that the country's president's role is "symbolic", saying: "So, the Parliament Speaker considers that we are in a parliamentary system and the president of the republic elected by the people is just a symbol!"

"So the President of the Republic also sees that the political system is dysfunctional and that he has the right to intervene with the formation and functioning of the government, in addition to saying that the parliament is the problem and it is not representing the people who assume the responsibility for their choices."

Marzouki added: "The most terrible aspect about the situation is not faking ignorance of the provisions of the constitution, but rather the disregard for its content as the only document that is discussed, disputed, and accepted by the representatives of the people for the first time in our history, and that it was accepted as a compromise between the different parties, as is always the case in a pluralist society, in order to avoid tyranny."

Tunisia is witnessing a political and constitutional crisis, as President Kais Saied refuses to allow newly-appointed government members to swear their oath of office, justifying his decision using the suspicions of corruption which have surrounded some ministers.

Many believe that the new ministers are unable to start work before taking the oath of office before the president, while others believe they can assume their duties as they have the trust of parliament.

Judge Orders Trump Organization to Hand Over Documents to New York Attorney General

A judge in New York has ordered the attorneys of the Trump Organization to give unprivileged documents to the states Attorney General by February 4th in the latest bullying of the judicial system against the Trump family.

The order came down on Friday as part of New York AG Letitia James supposed broader investigation into whether Trump illegally altered the value of his assets, an allegation which surfaced from Michael Cohen his former attorney back in 2019.

The states’s Supreme Court reviewed the documents submitted by the firm of Morgan, Lewis, and Bokius LLP.

“Morgan Lewis is hereby ordered to produce to petitioner, by February 4, 2021, all documents marked ‘not privileged’ by this court in the privilege log being emailed today under separate cover to all parties,” read Friday’s order from Judge Arthur Engoron.

“Once again, justice and the rule of law prevailed,” James said at the time. “We will immediately move to ensure that the Trump Organization complies with the court’s order and submits records related to our investigation. My office’s ongoing investigation will continue, as we continue to follow the facts wherever they may lead.”

James had also subpoenaed Eric Trump, the former president’s son, and Engoron backed her in a decision from September.
