ERIC HOLDER APPROVES DOMINION VOTING SYSTEMS TO PURCHASE DIVESTITURE

In 2010, the Department of Justice, led by Eric Holder, ordered a divestiture in the merger of major voting machine manufacturer Elections Systems and Software and Premier Election Solutions. In summary the terms were:

Under the terms of the settlement, ES&S must divest all of the intellectual property associated with all versions –past, present and in development –of the Premier voting equipment systems to another company. ES&S also must divest all Premier tooling and fixed assets, as well as inventory of parts and components. In order to allow the divestiture buyer to better serve disabled voters, ES&S must also grant a fully paid-up, irrevocable, perpetual license to use the AutoMARK, ES&S’s ballot marking device for which Premier had a limited license prior to the acquisition. The buyer of the divestiture assets will have the right to modify and improve both Premier products and the AutoMARK.

ES&S must sell the divestiture assets to a buyer approved by the department.

The DOJ indeed approved a vendor. On May 20, 2010, the DOJ under Holder approved the sale of Premier to Dominion Voting Systems. A press release on BusinessWire stated:

Dominion Voting Systems, Inc. today announced that it has acquired from Premier Election Solutions, Inc. “We are extremely pleased to conclude this transaction, which will restore much-needed competition to the American voting systems market and will allow Dominion to expand its capabilities and operational footprint to every corner of the United States”

As part of the transaction, Dominion also acquired an irrevocable, perpetual license for the AutoMark voting terminals used by voters with disabilities, a similar license for the VoteRemote absentee vote-by- mail processing solution, and rights to spare parts, supplies and other resources necessary to support and service these installed systems. In addition, Dominion will acquire a percentage of existing Premier inventory.

Under terms of the agreement, which was approved by the U. S. Department of Justice (DOJ) and nine state attorneys general, Dominion has secured the right to hire current and former Premier employees and to enter into agreements with Premier dealers experienced in deploying and supporting these systems. In addition, the transaction requires that current Premier customers be provided with the opportunity to assign their existing contracts to Dominion without penalty. As part of the transaction, Dominion granted license rights back to Premier, subject to certain restrictions. The transaction also provides limitations on the ability of ES&S to continue to sell the Premier equipment going forward. Premier voting systems are currently in use in over 1,400 jurisdictions in 33 states and serve nearly 28 million American voters."…….

Philippines to ban US travelers as new coronavirus strain spreads

The Philippines will close its borders to foreign travelers from the US for two weeks, to slow the spread of a new, more infectious strain of Covid-19. It has already banned travel from 20 countries where the strain is present.

The ban comes into effect on January 3 and will last until January 15, the Filipino government announced on Friday. One day earlier, Florida became the third US state to discover a case of the new strain, which was first detected in the UK in September.

The ban will also cover travelers who have been in the US up to 14 days before arriving in the Philippines. A ban has already been put in place for travelers coming from 19 countries where the new strain has been detected, including the UK, Spain, Japan, and Germany.

The strain spreads more rapidly than the coronavirus variant responsible for most of 2020’s cases, but has not yet proven more severe or more fatal. Governments have nevertheless imposed draconian restrictions in a bid to curb its spread. Japan banned all foreigners from entry in late December, while the British government extended its harshest level of restrictions to three quarters of its population on Wednesday.

As the strain spreads, the World Health Organization on Thursday approved a vaccine by US drugmaker Pfizer for emergency use. Vaccination is already underway in several countries around the world, though citizens of the Philippines will have to wait until May, the country’s vaccine czar announced last weekend.

Sadiq Khan Blasted for London’s Pro-BLM Fireworks

London Mayor Sadiq Khan has received harsh criticism for his “woke” New Year’s Eve fireworks, which contained tributes to the Black Lives Matter movement and the European Union.

The BBC-backed program cost taxpayers a whopping $2,050,950 was kept a mystery by Khan to prevent in-person crowds from gathering to view the fireworks.

Occurring on the River Thames, the show contained a host of “woke” messages including several Black Lives Matter (BLM) fists appearing in the sky while George the Poet – who turned down an Order of the British Empire due to the empire’s “pure evil” – read an extract of his poem Coronavirus: The Power of Collaboration.

The show, which excluded the classic song Auld Lang Syne, also lectured viewers on climate change while the image of a turtle with Africa on its shell appeared in the sky. What’s more, the Thames bridges were turned blue and yellow to pay tribute to the European Union as the United Kingdom finalized its departure from the body.

De Blasio Dances With Wife In Times Square After Shutting It Down To The Public For New Years

Democratic New York City mayor Bill de Blasio danced with his wife in Times Square to ring in the new year after shutting the area down for the public.

Times Square, which typically hosts tens of thousands of people on New Years eve to watch the ball drop, was quiet at the end of 2020. Police officers barricaded the area in an attempt to prevent large crowds due to COVID-19 and only de Blasio plus a few invited guests, including some health care workers, were allowed.

As Frank Sinatra’s “New York, New York” played throughout the nearly empty Times Square, de Blasio and his wife danced. Many took issue with the dance, which was posted by the mayors office on Twitter, calling it tone-deaf and a double standard.

De Blasio’s dance comes as many New York City restaurants are struggling due to an indoor dining ban implemented in December. This, too, was pointed out by Twitter users angry at the optics.

“It’s going to be actually, arguably, the most special, the most poignant, the most moving New Year’s Eve,” de Blasio previously said of the decision to close down Times Square according to Reuters. “In 2021, we’re going to show people what it looks like to recover, to come back.”

Spain Gloats It Has Been Given Control of Gibraltar’s Borders as Part of Brexit Deal

Spain has gloated that it is being given control over the British territory of Gibraltar’s borders as part of a side deal between Boris Johnson’s administration and the European Union.

Prime Minister Johnson had submitted to the EU’s demands that Gibraltar, known as the Rock, should be cut out of the main Brexit negotiations to appease neighbouring Spain, and it was not included in his Christmas Eve deal.

With just a day to go before the end of the so-called “transition” period, the former Crown Colony faced a localised no-deal Brexit including a hard border with Spain, and little contingency planning by the Johnson administration in place to ameliorate the situation.

At the eleventh hour, a side deal was struck to keep the border open, to the relief of most Gibraltarians — but at the price of the EU being allowed to post its men in the Rock to enforce border checks, with the Spanish claiming the work would fall to their own officals.

Section 1. Statutory Pay Systems. The rates of basic pay or salaries of the statutory pay systems (as defined in 5 U.S.C. 5302(1)), as adjusted under 5 U.S.C. 5303, are set forth on the schedules attached hereto and made a part hereof:

(a) The General Schedule (5 U.S.C. 5332(a)) at Schedule 1;

(b) The Foreign Service Schedule (22 U.S.C. 3963) at Schedule 2; and

(c) The schedules for the Veterans Health Administration of the Department of Veterans Affairs (38 U.S.C. 7306, 7404; section 301(a) of Public Law 102–40) at Schedule 3.

Sec. 3. Certain Executive, Legislative, and Judicial Salaries. The rates of basic pay or salaries for the following offices and positions are set forth on the schedules attached hereto and made a part hereof:

(a) The Executive Schedule (5 U.S.C. 5312–5318) at Schedule 5;

(b) The Vice President (3 U.S.C. 104) and the Congress (2 U.S.C. 4501) at Schedule 6; and

(c) Justices and judges (28 U.S.C. 5, 44(d), 135, 252, and 461(a)) at Schedule 7.

Sec. 4. Uniformed Services. The rates of monthly basic pay (37 U.S.C. 203(a)) for members of the uniformed services, as adjusted under 37 U.S.C. 1009, and the rate of monthly cadet or midshipman pay (37 U.S.C. 203(c)) are set forth on Schedule 8 attached hereto and made a part hereof.

Sec. 5. Locality-Based Comparability Payments.

(a) Pursuant to section 5304 of title 5, United States Code, and my authority to implement an alternative level of comparability payments under section 5304a of title 5, United States Code, locality-based comparability payments shall be paid in accordance with Schedule 9 attached hereto and made a part hereof.

(b) The Director of the Office of Personnel Management shall take such actions as may be necessary to implement these payments and to publish appropriate notice of such payments in the Federal Register.

Sec. 6. Administrative Law Judges. Pursuant to section 5372 of title 5, United States Code, the rates of basic pay for administrative law judges are set forth on Schedule 10 attached hereto and made a part hereof.

Sec. 7. Effective Dates. Schedule 8 is effective January 1, 2021. The other schedules contained herein are effective on the first day of the first applicable pay period beginning on or after January 1, 2021.

Sec. 8. Prior Order Superseded. Executive Order 13901 of December 26, 2019, is superseded as of the effective dates specified in section 7 of this order.

A U.S. Army-industry team is integrating two Stryker vehicles with 50 kW-class laser weapon capabilities and support equipment in Huntsville, Ala.

According to the Army, these two Strykers, fitted with laser weapon systems developed by Northrop Grumman and Raytheon, will head to a combat shoot-off event at Fort Sill, Okla. by spring, where they’ll face a series of scenarios designed to test the system and establish threshold requirements for this class of laser.

The result of the combat shoot-off event will lead to the competitive selection of one of the two laser systems for further prototype production, while also demonstrating for the first time that this laser technology is at a mature technical readiness level. The Army expects the operational fielding to take place by Fiscal Year 2022 with the service taking delivery of a platoon of four Strykers.

The combat shoot-off event is part of the Army’s Directed Energy-Maneuver Short-Range Air Defense (DE-MSHORAD) prototyping effort which falls under Army’s larger modernization strategy for air and missile defense. The effort is intended to help protect Divisions and Brigade Combat Teams (BCTs) from unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), Rotary-wing aircraft and rockets, artillery and mortars (RAM) threats by employing the use of high energy lasers, installed on tactical vehicles.

Millions of Americans each year are victims of stalking, a disturbing crime that restricts an individual’s ability to live a productive, peaceful, and fulfilling life. Throughout National Stalking Awareness Month, we recognize this form of bullying and intimidation and recommit to addressing and preventing this harmful behavior that devastates so many individuals and their families and friends.

Today, 1 in 6 women and 1 in 17 men experience stalking in their lifetime, and nearly 7 in 10 victims report knowing their stalker. Stalkers commonly target young people, with 54 percent of female victims and 41 percent of male victims experiencing stalking before age 25. Even if the offender relents, many victims of stalking experience long-lasting mental and physical aftereffects, resulting in prolonged depression or post-traumatic stress disorder.

Stalking is a course of conduct directed at a specific person to instill torment, fear, control, and uncertainty. Behaviors include unwanted contact, harassing family members or friends, leaving unwanted items, and lurking or appearing at places without invitation and/or a legitimate purpose. Increasingly, perpetrators are using social media platforms and technology to terrorize their victims. Cyber stalkers post private information, send illicit or suggestive messages, concoct rumors online about an individual or their family and friends which causes them to fear for their safety, reputation, and even their livelihood.

Stalking any individual, especially our young people will not be tolerated. That is why, last month, I signed the Combat Online Predators Act to impose tough penalties on predators for stalking minors, including increasing the maximum prison sentence from 10 to 15 years. As one Nation, we must do everything in our power to keep our children and loved ones safe from this predatory behavior and hold perpetrators accountable.

Today, the Department of State is announcing the addition of Banco Financiero International S.A. (BFI) to the Cuba Restricted List, effective upon publication in early January. BFI is a Cuban military-controlled commercial bank that benefits directly from financial transactions at the expense of the Cuban people. The Cuban military uses BFI’s key role in foreign exchange to give military and state companies preferential access, secure advantageous exchange rates, and finance government-controlled projects that enrich the regime. The profits earned from these operations disproportionately benefit the Cuban military rather than independent Cuban entrepreneurs, furthering repression of the Cuban people and funding Cuba’s interference in Venezuela.

President Trump has made it clear that he stands with the Cuban people in their longstanding struggle for freedom and against the communist regime in Havana. Liberals In Massachusetts Just Lowered The Abortion Age & Eliminated Need For Parental Consent

Massachusetts' legislature overrode its Republican governor's veto of a bill on Tuesday that increased abortion access in all sorts of ways, including allowing 16-year-old girls to get abortions without parental consent.

Announced earlier this month, the bill codified the landmark judgment in Roe v. Wade and permits abortions after 24 weeks if the child isn't expected to endure the birth. Gov. Charlie Baker explained that while he agreed with some of the bill's terms, he couldn't agree with one that lowered the age of consent from 18 to 16 years of age for receiving the procedure.

Baker told lawmakers he backed the provision permitting abortions at 24 weeks and eliminating a 24-hour waiting period, according to WBUR.

"However, I cannot support the sections of this proposal that expand the availability of later term abortions and permit minors age 16 and 17 to get an abortion without the consent of a parent or guardian," he reportedly stated.

The governor would have wanted a revision of the 24-week provision to enable abortions if a medical professional predicted "a substantial risk to" the patient's physical or mental health. As established, the bill's

language approved abortions "if it is necessary, in the best medical judgment of the physician, to preserve the patient's physical or mental health."

The state's Democratic-controlled Senate and House overwhelmingly denied Baker's veto. The Senate's 32-8 vote appeared just a day after the House's vote of 107-46.

Tuesday's passage marks another win for Democrats who are attempting to pre-empt a potential Supreme Court judgment overturning Roe – a prospect that appeared as even more likely with Amy Coney Barrett's consent to the Supreme Court.

Massachusetts' law faced opposition from organizations like Catholic Action League and Massachusetts Citizens for Life. In a statement issued Tuesday, the anti-abortion group

Susan B. Anthony List blasted the law.

"This dangerous new law allows for late-term abortion on-demand across Massachusetts, and secret abortions for minor girls as young as 16," said SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser. "Governor Baker is pro-choice, but this legislation was too much for him to stomach: his veto exemplifies just how extreme it is."

"The actions taken by Democrats to ram through this legislation are a reflection of just how extreme the party has become on abortion. Led by Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, Chuck Schumer, and Nancy Pelosi, the Democrats’ agenda for the entire nation is reflected in this bill: abortion on-demand, up until the moment of birth."

Meanwhile, the bill found backing from NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts, which praised it as a win for women's rights. "Today gender equality took a massive step forward," tweeted Rebecca Hart Holder, the group's executive director.

“Blue Star Strategies CEO Tramontano pitched that she could give Lutsenko, the Ukrainian Prosecutor General, access to high levels of the Clinton campaign,” Tom Fitton stated Friday.

An ongoing Judicial Watch investigation into the Biden family’s dealings in Ukraine has produced bombshell revelations about the Clinton campaign and Burisma – exposing the so-called “Kyiv – Washington gravy train,” as State Department official George Kent termed it in 2016. According to Judicial Watch’s findings, Burisma’s lobbying firm, Blue Star Strategies sought to offer its services to then-Ukrainian Prosecutor General, Yuriy Lutsenko, in “giving him access to high levels of the Clinton campaign,” Fitton explained.

“You’ve got the top prosecutor in Ukraine that could put Burisma in jail, getting an offer of free help from Burisma’s lobbying firm and and help to contact and deal with potentially the incoming president [Hillary Clinton]”

As the emails indicate, George Kent and others in the Obama State Department were aware of the corruption surrounding Burisma and Blue Star Strategies. George Kent, a key Trump impeachment witness wrote of the “Kyiv-Washington gravy train,” ostensibly referring to what was widely known in the Obama State Department as “shady dealings between Burisma and the Clinton Foundation.” In fact, as Fitton elaborated, the CEO at Blue Star Strategies, Karen Tramontano, had previously served under John Podesta as the Deputy Chief of Staff for President Bill Clinton, and was likely to return to the White House in a similar role under a potential Hillary Clinton administration.

As Fitton concluded:

“This smoking gun email is not the result of a DOJ or congressional investigation. It’s the result of a Judicial Watch investigation. It shows the Obama admin knew too well that Burisma and its lobbying firm connected to Hunter Biden was influence peddling in Ukraine and in Washington, and had connected it all to the Clinton campaign.”
