–The Smartmatic computers used since 2004 are more than suspect. The least the NEC could do in order to build confidence in the system is to allow for the auditing the opposition requests. The NEC has systematically denied full audits.

June 23rd-06

NEC ratifies the use of the Smartmatic machines being used since the referendum on August 15th-04. It guarantees that the 33.000 machines will be disconnected from the Counting Center until they have emitted their own statements or tally sheets and only then will they be connected to the Counting Center.

The NEC was always against the idea of auditing the results. The opposition wanted full or at least a large percentage of audits immediately after the closing of each center. The NEC allowed for the auditing of 199 computers (out of 19.900) in the presence of opposition witnesses, OAS and Carter Center representatives. The NEC’s reluctance to allow ample auditing knowing that the Smartmatic computer machines have never been used before, here or anywhere else, is inexplicable.

The Coordinadora Democratica (opposition) is led to believe that the computers will issue a report (or tally sheet) after the center is closed. In the audits allowed (199 machines) at least, the reports issued by the machines will be compared to the manual counting done in the presence of opposition and international witnesses. Thereafter, only thereafter, the machines would send their report to the Counting or Totalizing Centre at NEC’s headquarters.

Your editor comments on the Fingerprint Checking Machines that although they did not work, they helped to slowdown the process, to the point that closing hours were extended from 4pm to 8pm and then to 12 midnight, when the situation became chaotic. All over Latin-America we can note that with simple manual counting, electoral processes more complex than Yes vs No as this referendum, the results are usually known by 8-10pm.

Also these machines never tried before in Venezuela, sowed the belief that they were an instrument for the computerized system to find out for whom every individual was voting for. Opponents to HC scared of the possibility that the vote might not be secret, most likely will abstain, or even vote for HC.

Days after the referendum the Coordinadora Democratica learns (unofficially, through engineers at the telephone company who was transporting the data from voting centers to the main counting center) that the Smartmatic computers did not issue a report or tally sheet and then communicated with the Counting Center at NEC. Instead, they first communicated with the Totalizing Center, received feedback, and only then issued a tally sheet for the officials at the voting centers.

The United States Senate has defeated an effort to block the Trump administration’s sale of $23bn in advanced fighter jets and drones to the United Arab Emirates.

President Donald Trump had issued a formal threat to veto congressional efforts to block the planned weapons transfer, which is tied to the UAE’s normalisation of ties with Israel under the “Abraham Accords”.

Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell said the resolutions seeking to block the arms sale fell far short of the two-thirds support that would be needed to overcome a presidential veto.

“It’s a little baffling to suggest that, now of all times, a protest gesture with no chance of obtaining a veto-proof majority is a valuable use of the Senate’s time,” McConnell said in Senate floor remarks.

Backers of the sale described the UAE as an important US partner in the Middle East. Opponents criticised the UAE for its involvement in the war in Yemen, a conflict described by the United Nations as one of the world’s worst humanitarian disasters.

The Trump administration told Congress on November 10 that it had approved the sale to the UAE of weapons made by General Atomics, Lockheed Martin Corp and Raytheon Technologies Corp.

The deal includes the F-35, the world’s most advanced fighter jet; more than 14,000 bombs and munitions; and the second-largest sale of US drones to a single country.

The White House said the sales directly support US foreign policy and national security objectives by “enabling the UAE to deter increasing Iranian aggressive behaviour and threats” in the wake of its recent deal with Israel.

The veto threat was expected. US law requires congressional review of major arms deals, and lets senators force votes on resolutions of disapproval.

But to become effective, the resolutions needed to pass the Republican-led Senate and Democratic-led House of Representatives, and garner two-thirds majorities in both chambers to survive Trump’s veto pen.

Senator Chris Murphy, a leading critic of the arms sale, said on Twitter the Trump administration’s move to jam the transaction through quickly, without giving Congress time to review it, was designed to tie the hands of incoming President-elect Joe Biden.

Re the UAE arms sale, the normal process allows the Foreign Relations Committee time to review and ask questions about major arms sales.

But after Trump lost, he needed to jam the sale before Biden took office to tie Biden’s hands. So he just ignored the process.

Two resolutions seeking to block the sale of F-35s and Reaper drones, failed by votes of 47 to 49, and 46 to 50. All but two Democrats voted to block the deal. One Republican broke ranks to vote against the sale.

Biden won the November 3 election and is expected to review the sales. The House of Representatives, which is controlled by Democrats, is likely to vote in approval of the resolutions.

Senator Bob Menendez, a Democrat who forced the Senate votes, argued a US arms sale of this magnitude – without a broader strategy in the Middle East – risks starting a new arms race in an unstable region.

“If we really want to talk about countering Iran, we need a comprehensive diplomatic strategy,” Menendez said.

“Arming partners with complex weapon systems that could take years – years – to come online, isn’t a serious strategy to confront the very real and timely threats from Iran,” Menendez said.

Once the sale goes through, the UAE would become the first Arab nation to acquire the F-35.

Trump asked Ted Cruz to argue Texas election lawsuit if it reaches Supreme Court

(CNN)President Donald Trump personally asked Republican Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas if he would argue a long-shot election lawsuit seeking to overturrn the election results in four battleground states, should the Supreme Court agree to take it up, two sources told CNN on Wednesday.

Trump inquired on Tuesday whether Cruz would argue the case, which was filed by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton on Monday night in an effort to block election results from Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, all of which were won by President-elect Joe Biden. Cruz agreed to do so, according to a spokesperson.

A source familiar with the conversation said Trump has asked Cruz to argue a number of these election challenges.

The New York Times first reported Trump's request and Cruz's answer. The White House declined to comment.

News of Cruz's potential involvement comes after Trump got involved in Paxton's case on Wednesday, asking the Supreme Court in a court filing to block millions of votes from the four states. The President is being represented by a new attorney, John Eastman, who is known for recently pushing a racist conspiracy theory that claimed Vice President-elect Kamala Harris was not eligible for the role because her parents were immigrants.

In the challenge, Paxton argues that the battleground states exploited the Covid-19 pandemic to justify ignoring federal and state election laws. Seventeen Republican-led states have also filed a brief in support of Paxton's position.

Several members of Congress have now backed efforts by the Trump administration and the Republican Party at large to overturn the results of the 2020 election in court.

CNN reported on Wednesday that Rep. Mike Johnson of Louisiana, a close Trump ally, sent an email from a personal email account to every House Republican soliciting signatures for an amicus brief in the Texas case. The email said Trump is "anxiously awaiting the final list" to see who signs on.

Attorney General William Barr stated earlier this month that the Justice Department has not found evidence to support allegations of widespread fraud that could have changed the result of last month's presidential election.

Cruz, who has argued nine cases before the Supreme Court, tweeted Monday that he stood "ready to present the oral argument" in a case from Pennsylvania Republicans urging the court to block certification of the commonwealth's election results.

On Tuesday, the court denied the petitioners' request to hear the Pennsylvania case, delivering a near fatal blow to the GOP's long-shot bid to invalidate Biden's victory.

Hallelujah! CNN Decides It's OK to Finally Report on Hunter Biden

It comes as no secret to anyone who has read my work for more than a day or two that I am not the world’s biggest fan of the Cable News Network (CNN). I’m old school too — I didn’t like it way back when Ted Turner was running things. My Wednesday Morning Briefing led with some rather harsh feelings about the present state of affairs at the fake journalism cesspool that is present-day CNN.

Imagine my surprise when, several hours after posting that, I headed over to the Twitters and saw something that looked like an attempt at journalism by one of CNN’s lead Enemy of the People hacks, Jake Tapper:

Ah yes, there was some news about Hunter Biden’s questionable business dealings floating around in October, wasn’t there? Jakey, Donnie, and the other ChiCom youth at CNN weren’t reporting on it then, however. That may have derailed their plans to help Hunter’s daddy steal the White House and get installed as the Left’s Idiot King puppet.

This isn’t the first rather-huge-but-older-news item that CNN has now decided to report belatedly. At the beginning of this month — three weeks after Election Day — Tapper reported that China had lied about the coronavirus as if it were the freshest news on the planet. The network even called the story an “exclusive.” Here’s the thing though: virtually everyone in conservative new media had been reporting that since last spring. Mainstream media outlets like CNN were parroting the ChiCom party line then, and for all of the months straight through Election Day.

Let’s just say that the network’s seeming commitment to real reporting would be easier to buy if any of this news had been reported when it was, you know, news.

Like I said in the Briefing, they’re all dirtbags at CNN, in front of the camera, behind the camera, top to bottom.

They can dress up as journalists all they want right now but I doubt that even they are buying their own b.s.

Eric Swalwell Implicates Democrat Leadership, Blames Trump for Revelation of Chinese Spy Who Infiltrated Him

In today’s version of “You’ve got to be kidding me,” Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) is blaming President Trump for the Axios report that disclosed his questionable relationship with a Chinese spy. According to Politico:

“I’ve been a critic of the president. I’ve spoken out against him. I was on both committees that worked to impeach him,” Swalwell said in an interview on Tuesday. “The timing feels like that should be looked at.

”Swalwell added: “What it appears though that this person — as the story reports — was unsuccessful in whatever they were trying to do. But if intelligence officials are trying to weaponize someone’s cooperation, they are essentially seeking to do what this person was not able to do, which is to try and discredit someone.”

Is Swalwell alleging that Trump waited until more than a month after the election to out him? Never mind that Swalwell was photographed with the woman he refers to as “this person,” who went by Christine Fang, numerous times smiling broadly. According to the Axios report, she had enough influence in Swalwell’s inner circle to place an intern in his Washington, D.C., office. She also helped with his campaign fundraising.

There are also allegations that Swalwell had a sexual relationship with Fang. He refused to answer questions about this when Politico asked him. Tucker Carlson noted this on his show last night:

U.S. intelligence officials believe that Fang had a sexual relationship with Eric Swalwell. We asked Swalwell’s office about that directly today. His staff replied by saying they couldn’t comment on whether or not Swalwell had a sexual relationship with Fang because that information might be, quote, “classified.” They did not elaborate or explain what they meant by that.

Note the lack of an outright denial. It is not clear how not doing something would be classified. Carlson went on to note that for three years, Swalwell accused President Trump of being a Russian spy — when a Chinese spy had allegedly compromised Swalwell:

“It’s always those who have the most to hide who attack other people for the very things they’ve done.”

He also reminded viewers that Swalwell is on the House Intelligence Committee and privy to some of the country’s most sensitive classified information. The congressman also has tweets that appear to mirror Chinese propaganda. Carlson noted that the statements in these tweets parrot official Chinese state media. It’s fair to ask if there’s a connection.

Senator Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) appeared with Tucker and commented on the case. Regarding Swalwell’s position on the Intelligence Committee, Hawley said:

It’s absolutely unbelievable, Tucker. These revelations really ought to be a shock and a wakeup call to everybody in Washington. But I can tell you, I bet they won’t be. Because we’ve seen the Washington politicians and the D.C. establishment look the other way with China for years and years now. And it’s not as if they hadn’t known. As if they hadn’t known the Chinese had an active espionage effort against elected officials and other targets.

Donald Trump Jr. appeared later in the show to comment on the Georgia Senate runoffs. He also went out of his way to thank Carlson for covering the Swalwell spy saga. He echoed Tucker’s sentiments about the gall Swalwell showed during the Russia hoax:

Also, Tucker, one thing I do have to say, I appreciate watching the opening monologue. I appreciate you calling out Eric Swalwell. As someone who was probably the number two recipient of his tin-foil hat brigade attacks about Russia for years, where he called me a traitor, I find it very ironic that he was perhaps sleeping with a Chinese spy. But certainly, one that had infiltrated his inner circle.

Indeed. House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy topped them all in an appearance on The Ingraham Angle:

This is only the tip of the iceberg. Remember what we’re hearing. These are Chinese spies that go down to the level of a mayor. They court and help a city council member become a congressman. This congressman now gets on the Intel Committee. They are only selected for the Intel Committee by the leaders of their party, meaning Nancy Pelosi. Nancy Pelosi is one of the Gang of 8 along with myself. Did Nancy Pelosi know this had transpired when she put him on the committee?

He noted that Democrat Senator Dianne Feinstein had a Chinese spy in her office for 20 years, during which she was on the Senate Intelligence Committee. McCarthy questioned why Democrats left the bipartisan China Task Force he established. He also noted that Pelosi had not brought bills to the House that the Senate had passed which would hold China accountable. When Ingraham asked him if hearings needed to occur, McCarthy said that’s the purpose of the bipartisan commission.

McCarthy then questioned why Swalwell remained on the Intelligence Committee and in Congress. Especially since he was the lone vocal critic of DNI John Ratcliffe for saying Iran and China were bigger national security threats than Russia. McCarthy noted that China’s spending on espionage is six times larger than Russia’s and twelve times larger than Iran’s.

So far, it is fair to say that Swalwell is acting just like someone who is guilty. He is blaming President Trump for being exposed and not answering direct questions. The investigation into Fang closed in 2015 when the FBI got involved, and she fled the country. It is fair to wonder what pictures and other documents she may have taken with her.

Why Swalwell thinks the president would even be aware of the situation is a mystery. The fact that he thinks Trump would target him directly speaks to his arrogance. His role in the impeachment process wasn’t all that important. He was also not the only politician noted to have had contact with Fang. His rhetoric on Russia and silence about China are in line with just about every other Democrat in Congress.

Swalwell’s continued minimization of the threat China poses is not a good look in light of everything we know now. Neither is telling Politico the controversy would not affect his position on the House Intelligence Committee:

“As the story referenced, this goes back to the beginning of the last decade, and it’s something that congressional leadership knew about it,” Swalwell said.

If that’s true, shame on Speaker Pelosi. Swalwell has just implicated her and the entire Democratic House leadership.

Unfortunately, this seems to be a feature, not a bug with Democrats. It is important to recall that Feinstein got a defensive briefing and no scrutiny regarding her family’s financial ties to China. All stories related to presumed president-elect Joe Biden’s family and their ties to firms linked to the CCP were also suppressed to avoid scrutiny. And now, the CCP is cheering some of Biden’s choices in the administration.

Texas GOP Chairman Expects More States To Join SCOTUS Election Suit

Red states are joining Texas in a Supreme Court lawsuit aimed at delaying presidential electors in multiple states.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is leading the charge against multiple states that allegedly violated the Constitution during the 2020 election.

On Wednesday, Paxton filed a lawsuit against Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. The lawsuit argues the ‘Equal Protection Clause‘ was violated. All four states account for 62 electoral votes, which is enough to question the outcome of the presidential election.

Additionally, Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt led a group of 17 states in support of the Texas lawsuit on Wednesday.

The group filed a brief with the Supreme Court. The brief claims state officials exploited the coronavirus pandemic to make changes to the elections that would purposely make them prone to potential fraud.

The Texas GOP chairman said that potential for fraud not only affected the states involved, but millions of other Americans. In an interview with Steve Bannon Tuesday, Chairman Colonel Allen West said Texas had the legal right to pursue the case.

“We’re not asking for ballots to be thrown out,” West said. “We’re asking for this to go back to the legislature and the state legislators…will decide those electors, which again is constitutional by Article 2 Section 1 of the United States Constitution.”

He added that America has the gold standard of an electoral system and protecting it isn’t a political issue.

“I think you’re going to see about 10 [states] sign onto this petition,” West noted. “I know…Louisiana has come on board, you just talked about South Carolina and I believe Missouri and several others will stand beside this as well.”

UPDATE: THREE other states are expected to join the Texas lawsuit headed to SCOTUS, according to Colonel Allen West (Chairman of Texas Republic Party).

He reiterated that this is an American issue rather than a Republican or Democrat issue. West also mentioned if we do not pursue truth in this election, it will undermine our constitutional republic.

In the meantime, the Supreme Court has given the states until Thursday afternoon to respond to the lawsuit.

The UK’s medicine regulator says anyone with a history of anaphylaxis to a medicine or food should not get the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, expanding its guidance on an earlier allergy warning about the shot, the first against COVID-19 to have secured approval.

“Any person with a history of anaphylaxis to a vaccine, medicine or food should not receive the Pfizer BioNTech vaccine,” June Raine, chief executive of the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) said in a statement. “A second dose should not be given to anyone who has experienced anaphylaxis following administration of the first dose of this vaccine.”

The earlier warning did not mention anaphylaxis, which is a severe and potentially life-threatening reaction to a trigger, usually foods including milk, nuts and shellfish, as well medicines like aspirin. Other triggers include bee stings and latex.

Symptoms of anaphylaxis include feeling faint, having difficulty breathing and a fast heartbeat. A patient may also develop a rash. The reaction requires immediate treatment and many people who suffer severe allergies usually carry adrenaline auto-injectors.

The MHRA approved the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine for emergency use last week, paving the way for the start of a UK-wide vaccination programme on Tuesday.

The agency said it was updating its guidance after two cases of anaphylaxis and one report of a possible allergic reaction following immunisation.

“Most people will not get anaphylaxis and the benefits in protecting people against COVID-19 outweigh the risks,” Raine stressed.

“You can be completely confident that this vaccine has met the MHRA’s robust standards of safety, quality and effectiveness. The safety data has also been critically assessed by the government’s independent advisory body, the Commission on Human Medicines. No vaccine would be approved unless it meets these stringent standards – on that you can be sure.”

More approvals

Canada is the latest country to approve the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, which showed 95 percent efficacy in late-stage trials, raising hopes that it will help bring an end to the coronavirus pandemic. Bahrain has also authorised the vaccine for public use, while the US Food and Drug Administration is scheduled to consider emergency use authorisation on Thursday.

On Twitter, New York governor Andrew Cuomo said the FDA was expected to give the drug the green light and the state’s own panel would then “review and approve”. Some 170,000 doses could arrive in New York by the weekend, he said on Twitter.

Seventy UK hospitals are involved in the Pfizer-BioNTech campaign with the first doses given to people over the age of 80.

The UK, which has a population of about 67 million people, has recorded more deaths from COVID-19 than anywhere else in Europe, and has confirmed more than 1.7 million cases of the disease.

It has ordered 40 million doses of the vaccine, which needs to be shipped and stored at -70 degrees Celsius (-94F), or below. The order is enough to inoculate 20 million people, because the vaccine has to be administered in two injections, 21 days apart.

There are a number of other vaccines in development with US-based Moderna expected to get emergency approval in the coming weeks. The vaccine has been developed in partnership with the United States National Institutes of Health, and uses the same basic approach as the Pfizer-BioNTech shot.

Scientists at the UK’s University of Oxford, meanwhile, expect to report results from the late-stage trials of their COVID-19 vaccine by Christmas. They are working with UK-based pharmaceutical firm AstraZeneca. The experimental vaccine is expected to be cheaper and easier to handle than the Pfizer and Moderna shots.
