Not to worry, not to worry. I do indeed mix up what I'm drawing and have fun doing so the whole time.
In general, no matter what it is I'm drawing, I always make the effort to find some way to have it challenge myself.
Even my gestures I use as a means of experimentation.
Like the other day. I hadn't realized how easily I could combine both boxes, and gesture, by just warping the cubes, based on the line of action. As well as switching from abstract vaguely spherical forms, for torso and pelvis, to cubic stuff.
And also starting to actually draw a simplified skull, for face studies, before laying the details on top.

Try to think of the face less as this sort of blob you've got going on, and instead as a series of measurements that shift from person to person.
