Do different mirrors give you different reflections or something?
Or it's just ehh I dunno.
Still, screw Valentines day.

I mean, technically, yes! The lighting in the room where the mirror is is a huge part of it (as you might notice if you ever think a piece of clothing looks nice in a changing room but not at home), plus the properties of the mirror itself can change how you appear to yourself.
Yeah, fair. It is a bit strange to me, since Valentine's isn't a huge deal here, but assuming it is over there I can see that sucking a lot.

I always compare myself to people, rip me.
Only have one big full body mirror that I actively avoid, but might have to start actually using it more.
It's in somewhat of an awkward spot though!
I just hate the implications and hate myself for getting worked over things. I'm sure once the month starts I'll get more worked or more calm.

Well I gotta get the basement in decent shape, we got a few friends that recently got married and are possibly being kicked out of their house because the title is in one of their moms names and they changed there last name to something other than the sirs last name because they wanted to start new, and they have been disowned by the family that owns the house so they may need a place to stay and I said I could have it ready in two weeks.
Life is fucking crazy, last names mean too much to people.

I intend to put a proper door at the bottom of the stairs, and then wall off a bedroom for them with a door as well, they would just have to be careful with the cats and keep them from getting out, and maybe introduce the dog to them slowly.

The Italian by Ann Radcliffe! Published in 1797, and set about fifty years earlier, it details the trials of the nobleman Vincentio who wants to marry the lower-class Ellena. And the beginning is just totally insane. Our main character, Vincentio, sees Ellena in church, so he stalks her and her aunt, until the aunt falls down and he rushes over to "help", eventually following them all the way to their house, and staying there awkwardly pretending to be worried about the aunt until he's asked to leave. Then several nights in a row he sneaks over to their house to try to catch a glimpse of Ellena, and once he eventually does, and manages to see her smile through a window, he's so overcome with emotion that he has to go sit down for several hours. Truly psycho shit! But the author is intentionally writing Vincentio as a character ruled by his emotions to an extreme degree, so it's not like she just thought this was acceptable behaviour. He's still the noble protagonist though, somehow!
Also, the books is just stuffed with anti-Catholicism, which is a fun old-fashioned prejudice to see.

Oh absolutely, it was an extremely popular novel at the time, published just about when more and more women were getting literate. The author got insanely rich (by the standards of authors back then), and just retired after getting it published. It's a legit fun read though! Things unsurprisingly go very bad: A mysterious monk warns Vincentio that he should not pursue Ellena, then her aunt gets killed, then the monk repeats his warning and Vincentio still ignores it, then Ellena gets kidnapped, and Vincentio and his servant go to save her, but they are follow by the inquisition, etc. Just a surprising amount of action (not yet mentioned: the evil catholic priest, the scheming mother, the overly proud father, class conflict, etc., etc.).

Oh, I'm sorry if I sounded confrontational or something, I was just agreeing with you! It's a very proper romance written by a very proper Protestant lady, but it had enough action to draw in a decent chunk of male readers too, and it was written well enough that Nathan Drake essentially said she was the female Shakespeare! It's a big strange novel.

Not only is it a very proper novel, it was (supposedly) written as a direct response to the very improper novel The Monk by Matthew Lewis! Who was trying to write a gothic novel but, in Radcliffe's view ,he included way too much violence and gore.
Agatha Christie is great, though!

Well, at least not nowadays.
Nope, just a reference with the title being about U.N. Owen, the killer that invited everyone to the party as U.N. Owen is really close to "Unknown"
And Flandre is the extra stage boss, being the unknown factor, thus U.N. Owen was her?
Also need to read Catcher in the Rye just because of Ghost in the Shell's laughing man.

Thst just reminds me of a Norwegian kids' show where the bad guy was "Engineer Cognito", but when you read the shortened version properly it was "Ing. Cognito".
I've not actually read that yet, surprisingly! Despite me having taken 2.5 years of English linguistics and literature. I probably should though, it seems like an easy enough read.

Ah, well, the story in short reminded me of multiple detective shows I had seen, also one old manga about Detective Conan.
As much as I've heard, it's something they read in elementary school over at the states.
One misunderstood person in Ghost in the Shell uses a mask over people's faces in augmented eyes/cameras to project a "sticker" onto everyone's face that has a quote from it about being a deaf-mute.

Which reminds me that I kinda want to read Detective Conan!! And presumably I'll drop it at some point, 'cause it's been going on for 26 years and I refuse to believe it could still be good.
Exactly! Even more reason to read it, then, just so I can get it over with and understand it when people reference it.
Yep, "I thought what I'd do was, I'd pretend I was one of those deaf-mutes"! Truly a bizarre choice of quote, but I've not actually seen GitS either, so maybe it does make sense in context.

I think there's way too many parts to it nowadays, I just got like 6 or so mangas from my sister back in 2000s.
Don't think I've met too many people that really throw around references, yet I keep throwing around and about song references.
Well, the person escaped from a camp and tried to get into the society, but didn't understand clearly how it worked, thus the quote.
Ah, GitS is kind of my favourite anime of all time with all the movies, 2 anime shows and the recently made OVAs, also the live action movie that came out a few years back with Scarlett Johansson wasn't too bad.. albeit it had a whole different story from the first anime movie.
