Sure it can. You just have to set down some basic things to remember, then be mindful to use /retry when you start seeing it be confused. Some of it also depends on what prompt you are using. It also helps to occasionally throw in reminder comments to keep things consistent. so instead of:

You go to the forest.

go with

You go into the forest in search of your missing brother named Michael, accompanied by your faithful pet dog.

or whatever happens to fit with the story so far.

The AI can remember specific contexts for so long.

Afik the ai can only remember certain details like characters and motivations for 20 or so lines before it forgets and starts throwing random shit at you.

Using /remember every once in a while keeps the AI focused on the state of the game like the place where you are, what are you doing or who are talking to

Seems to be that they work better if they are in the same framing as some of the prompts. Using 'you' instead of 'I', being reasonably descriptive, ect. It may take some trial and error. Anything set with /remember will remain present even if you /revert before you set the remember. You can take advantage of this by making a custom prompt that describes a fairly limited scene, see how it plays out, set some things to remember and revert back near the start, and see how things play out differently. Clover also has /forget as a command to remove anything you have remembered and no longer want.

The context too long error also applies to how much text is found in all the responses the AI generates as everything it generates is held within context for 20 turns.

Have not found a good solution to sleeping constantly or frequent time skips yet. In fairness, "I don't sleep" could be confusing the model, something like "You don't need to sleep yet" might be more useful, but I need to do more testing.

Usually the only way to get through it is to either revert before it started happening. If this has happened after a point where you have completely broken the context of the story (like getting an advertisement for Xbox One, or what looks to be a verbatim blog post), then your only option is to soldier through it by forcing your own context for a dozen or so turns. IE:

> You wake up feeling better about yourself, remembering all the fun you had with your girlfriend the previous day. You cannot wait to see her again and fuck her senseless. You love the feeling of your dick pushing into her moist pussy and filling her with cum. She seems to love you so much. You stand up and begin your day.

Then no matter what it says, you go on along the thread you want to push. Eventually the AI will start pulling more from the context you give and start you down that road.

Unfortunately, unless there's a way to completely remove subjects from an existing model, that's not really an option. I have the hardware sitting idle, I can let this 1070 chew on training a model for weeks if needed, just not sure how many epochs/iterations to train for and when to do some manual tuning. Current plan is to try 4 epochs (310888 iterations) and see how it behaves, but would help if there was any sort of documentation on how the existing models were trained.

I've had some decent fun with this but it's honestly far more limited than it first would seem.

Often when I attempt something strange or /d/ it breaks, ignores it, or doesn't work.

Take something like invisibility. Tried that out, after I randomly got an invisibility potion. Was using /remember, constantly handholding the program and reminding it with every input and still couldn't get anything decent.

It also seems to want to fight me sometimes and just constantly b-lines on random tangents even if I'm being handholdy and trying to lead the story.

I've also had the stars align and had great runs where I was able to just press enter repeatedly and let the program go on it's own with good results but that is very rare.

I manged to get the 700m model to train on about 10mb of text with this colab but it was only to test, it might depend of which gpu you get assigned if it works at all.
