Is there any intersection between programming and magick?

I'm someone who hasn't quite taken the greenpill, somewhere between mundane and neophyte. I see a lot of similarities between the two, using arcane texts to invoke a command on something is a huge parallel.

Most normies would consider programmers to be the wizards of the modern world. I'm in that boat for the most part, but as an aspiring programmer I've got to wonder if there is any way to channel the occult into my programs. Are there any books that discuss this at length? I've downloaded parts of the library and haven't seen anything that addresses this as a larger observation.

>Is there any intersection between programming and magick?

Yes. I have been programming for awhile and in fact /prog/ used to all be redpilled + greenpilled wizards basically who'd talk about Hitler and the Jews and aliens and occult every fucking day. I've seen sites and projects and all kinds of shit that involved heavy magick.

Magical Use of Thoughtforms by Dolores Ashcroft-Nowicki is one book that touches on the subject briefly.

Most of the stuff I've found for cyber-magick is pretty unhinged and uninitiated mundanes can't make any sense of it at all.

Magic is a universal meta-science. It intersects everything, it can be used in writing, dancing, programming, etc etc. So read ancient/occult texts and search for universal truth, then go outside and look for universal truth, then apply that knowledge to any aspect of your life that you wish!

Programming, where you create a new model or dimension by taking some units, composing them, and abstracting them, is very occult and mirrors all our mental and physical processes.

Also: Astral computers. Apparently you can connect them to the physical somehow…

What you name all of your variables is going to have a huge albeit subtle influence over the front end portion of your coding project.

Another aspect is the visual elements. The colors used on an html page, the ratio in comparing of length tables (sacred geometry), and also icons hail back to hieroglyphs.

The art you use including sprites and images. Also sound elements, such as something that sounds like a half second of a singing bowl rising in octaves might give a certain button or timer a pleasant feeling.

Computers, programming and the Internet are the perfect metaphor for grasping the nature of human consciousness and the hermetic triad of Mercurius-Sulphur-Sal, as well as the holy trinity and quite a number of other esoteric subjects. Upon truly integrating and feeling the lessons posed by the nature of computers, you will be liberated.

For instance, what is a computer? Is a computer its hardware? Or, is a computer its operating system? If it were only a monitor and a tower, after all, it would be good as nothing; a hunk of equipment to sit and collect dust, as man's body would be but a statue, an animal, without some animating substance. For a computer to come alive it requires an operating system of some form or another, and an operating system runs on a programming language. Likewise, for humans to transcend above the level of animals also requires an animating substance. We are but one consciousness, sailing our physical bodies upon a sea of language.

And, of course, the most important and exquisite reason to follow this train of thought is to ask oneself this: what good is a computer, is an operating system, without a user? The Adam Kadmon, the Prometheus Fire-Bringer, the hidden right brain, the unconscious mind, Shiva within Shakti. We are but human computers designed to be offered up to the light of pure consciousness, designed to grow to our fullest glory as any tree or flower or sublime creation walking upon this earth, and if for some reason we are not operating to our fullest capacity it is our responsibility to examine both our hardware (how we care for our bodies) and the structure (language) of our software (mind).

I keep telling you people, read Jung, read Jung. The finest way to learn magic is to study the mind, and literary theory. Life is art and living is interpretation.

Not OP, but I'm greatly interested in this topic. Is there anything magickal that I can do with my computer right now? I know there are things out there like virtual ouija boards, etc. What I find interesting is using entropy (in the cryptographic sense) as a sort of divination or maybe as a communion with chaos (i.e. in most every distro of linux "cat /dev/urandom"). Maybe I should write a script to parse sources of entropy into human-readable output? But I digress. What sort of ideas do you all have?

I've been toying with ways to combine them a lot lately, with some success. Books I have seen very little that talk directly about it, sadly. The only cybermancy books I've read are very old and mostly direct transliterations of rituals to rituals using computers.

>>79408

I've tried this, with (for me) considerable success. Luckily there already exists ways to parse entropy into human-readable output in a magic-compatible way, namely every form of divination (I'm partial to tarot myself, but you can do the same with runes or whatever).

It ties in with

>>79246

^ This. Many times this.

The naming, the appearance, the "face" of the program matters a thousand times more for its occult content than any kind of system engineering in it. Use names that lead to intent and energies you want, use symbols that makes people associate with it the energies you want, "the face defines the soul" etc.

The trap of wanting to overengineer magic, to provide energy sources and energy flows and batteries and converters and True Randomness instead of pseudorandomness and etc is misleading imo. Ignore the tech and the mechanisms and just use the art for the occult parts.

Also, god of pic related can be helpful. He was for me.

Does it have to be just for shit and giggles?

I was always fascinated by the possibility of using a computer for evocation. Attach an astral entity to a randomness source, have it try to control the data generated, look for anomalies in the output.

Ie. /dev/urandom should produce roughly an equal amount of ones and zeroes. Have the entity try to control the bits generated and see if it can alter the ratio of 1s and 0s.

If the Illuminati can have computers aware of the astral planes (video related), so can we. Though personally I'm interested in the other way around, controlling computers from the astral, not manipulating the astral using computers.

IMHO, no. You can ask for inspiration for a program or something, but that's about it. A computer is a closed-off, deterministic abstract machine. As far away from magic as you can get. Let me elaborate : There is thought, and there is being. There is thinking and there is doing. And the "act" of (conscious) thinking is fundamentally different from the "act" of doing. You may walk, or you may think about walking. You may try to explain to yourself how you walk, create an abstract mechanism in your head, but in all likelihood, that's all it will ever be : a simulacrum . Your brain makes countless unconscious balancing decisions every second you walk. So, when you think about walking at most you get a "token for walking" , an I.O.U. from being.

The problem today is that we're too immersed in thought and too far away from being. The basis is qualia . Redness. Warmth . The buzzing of your pc fan. The globes and stream of experience. This is our umbilical cord to being. The ground on which we build our ivory towers of thought and where we return, eventually. Qualia are not bits . You may compare them to one another, create abstractions, but the bits we use to represent and communicate the qualia are not the qualia themselves . "Red" is not red. In the normal process of learning, we start from the experience, and apply progressive abstraction. Learning to read, we don't "see" the shape or peculiarities of individual letter anymore. The worrying thing is that we do not see that we don't see. It's a process of automatization. Becoming machine-like. Replacing the "thing" with the abstraction, the routine, the program. Replacing the present with the re-presen-tation. Now, automatization, learning and constructing abstraction is no doubt usefull, but it is only half the mind. If you want to do any magic, you have to learn to "learn" in reverse. Un-build abstractions and return to the ground. the present, the now, with all its sights and sounds and people.

Re-invest your attention away from concepts and back into precepts.

You may even notice things you missed before. The computer, for all its usefulness, induces a false model of the world, where the world is all "up in your head" , but your head isn't in the world. Where you aware of your bad posture when reading this?

"How do you know but ev'ry Bird that cuts the airy way,

Is an immense world of delight, clos'd by your senses five?"

Learn de-automatization. Focus on the experience. Go outside. Take some risks. You know what I'm talking about. And the magic will happen.

obviously, I do not actively practice the occult, but I can certainly attest that computers can be utilized as means for occult ends.

for instance, consider divination via scrying or tea leaf reading or even via auto-writing or ouija. in these practices, black mirrors and tea leaves, etc, are not in and of themselves "magical", but are rather naught but tools useful in providing a random substrate from which the magician can extract data through his own abilities.

in a like manner, one could construct programs that provide such a tool for the magician to use. good examples would be things like electronic iChing programs, programs that populate magic squares, or programs used by astrologers that organize celestial data useful to the astrologer.

I could even fathom using a CRT + some application for displaying sigils to help facilitate the summoning of demons using Solomon's method in lieu of paper and a black mirror.

It's no coincidence that the grand fathers of computer science such as Liebniz, Boole, Babbage, Church and Godel all saw themselves as Hermeticists and Alchemists. This is rightly concealed from the bluepilled masses. Can't let the throngs of node.js H1B code-monkey mundanes learn what they're actually doing. Don't want those rust hacks and SJW community-code-of-conduct pushers to wise up either.

A better name for computer science is technomancy, short for techno-alchemy. It's the art and science of the transmutation of abstract thought forms into mechanistic or electrical processes that operate independently from the practitioner. Computer processes are actual servitors and egregores, instantiated from complex interwoven sigils we call programs. Perhaps one day, someone will manifest a god-form through technomancy.

Everything in the Kybalion can be applied architecturally in the construction of software programs.

And there's much much more…

FYI, I'm an old-guard /prog/rider and /new/sman.

This may be a shock at first, but even quantum mechanics is deterministic. The mathematics of quantum mechanics is all linear algebra of amplitude flows. The probabilistic aspect of quantum decoherence is merely an artifact of our perception of being confined to but one path.

But this shouldn't be difficult for you to accept. All paths are pre-determined, as all paths originate from and lead back to the same source. Is it not true that the All has always been and forever will always be? That the All is all things, including every possible world?

All magick is deterministic, our thoughts are pre-determined, our lives are pre-determined. But this should not worry us. Even mathematical chaos is deterministic. But determinism does not mean the same thing as predictable. Just because these systems are deterministic doesn't mean we are capable of predicting what will happen in the future.

Predicting what will happen in a complex, chaotic system such as our planet, or even in a room of our house–which aren't closed systems–is beyond the reach of our most powerful supercomputers. The only way to predict the future is to simulate the present system exactly. In order to simulate the Earth, you'd need to simulate our entire visible Universe, and to do that, you'd need a computer with far many more atoms than are available in our cosmological bubble. It's just not possible, not even with quantum computers.

Only entities in higher planes would be capable of such a feat.

You have no idea friend. Actually you do. You have the right idea entirely! Well… except for the determination part. You have half of the solution. You didn't account for chaos mathematics and emergence. Consider the paradigm of holistic physicalism.

Applying mathematics to the mind and one's phenomenological experience is alchemy. I derived the philosopher's stone and now intend to open-source that shit. The pieces were already there.

If calculus can be used to describe and model elements of the external world, why not the internal - elements of one's own phenomenological experience? We aren't dealing with quantity here, so one must abstract the concepts.

That blasted Cartesian Dualism got in the way of realizing this…

What is doing and being? The doing state of mind is change through time. Past, present, and future are modeled as a requirement of this mental state. Being doesn't involve temporal change, it is present-moment awareness, it is the volumes and qualia tied to them that change around this experiential moment.

Rate of change and determination of volume, doing and being. The fundamental theorem of calculus describes phenomenological experience.

You can condition integral calculus into your phenomenological experience right now, free of charge. It's called mindfulness-based cognitive therapy: http://mbct.com/

If this seems bizarre, consider that game theory (https://vimeo.com/124736839) has formalized strategic interaction, a part of reasoning, and formal logic has formalized… logic.

However logic isn't the whole of cognition, it is the temporal element, vertical, step-wise and deterministic. Input and output. The other part is analogical and holistic reasoning, which is timeless, horizontal, volumetric and relational. What we need is a mathematical way to map and preserve structure from a source to a target. We also need a way to determine shared structure between a source and a target. https://vimeo.com/129280982

Again the fundamental theorem of calculus comes up in cognition, to no surprise. Creativity and creative problem-solving is the result of it.

Of course there's also people who are innately gifted in analogical reasoning and logical reasoning. Some people are gifted in both.

The Great Confusion was thinking that the West's temporal reductionism was at odds with the East's holism when they were two sides of the same theorem.

Magick, religion et al are just various methods to do the same thing, altering mental processes using metaphor, technique and practice, for example "belief is a tool." Formalizing these things mathematically is the purest essence of alchemy.

So all of this will become a unified mathematical framework of the entirety of mind. From it will come mathematically-based methods to enhance cognition in every way to the extent that the brain is capable of. Psychology as physical science.

But wait, there's more.

Social evolution and cultural evolution (remember that a meme is a unit of cultural evolution) follow the same framework, which is no surprise, as they are the result of minds interacting. Sociology and cultural sciences becomes physical sciences as well.

Which leads us to this thread by moi: https://8ch.net/fringe/res/84680.html

Merton Memetic Antivirus was just the tip of the iceberg.

There's a thread checking if anyone is interested in a minecraft server, for ritual magic and teaching and stuff.

You can create a system that you upload files into that then make esoteric, geometric, "divine" operations on the info and turns The Kabylion for instance into a video with audio that you can then perform rituals to.

Or, a ritual geometric image, and invokation, that you put through the program and have it do the video/audio as you use the same or a different sigil/geometry/ritual space and invokation for a double whammy. Turns it into a second initiate for you to do magic with.

Numerology is possible, significant variable names is possible… "POWER * WISDOM = yourname;growbigdong(yourname);"

Best you can use it for is to monitor and create reminders for planet transitions, automatic astrology forecast fetch, 24 hr qi clock/reminder and suggested activity desktop 'widget', and other occult info fetches from websites and databases to keep your schedule magically optimized. If you could create a program that ties a lot of that in, including suggested activities that are based on planetary transitions/signs, 24 qi cycle, personal sign, astro forecast, sign of country one is in, body type, etc. I might pay money. If you figure out which specific exercise, meditations, activities, rituals, foods, ties into specific arrangements, planets, organs/qi, signs, I would definitely pay money. Specifically if it's high quality and polished.

Until you realize that you are just being farmed by creating these 'epiphany like energies'.

And then you go to sleep and weep that literally noone is as awake as you.

And then you realize the world is just a mirror of your own psyche, and if your own psyche has 'le philosophers stone' then it must already have been applied to the real world.

Oh you can't make diamonds out of pure nothing? Too bad.

Watch Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood and think long and hard about it.

Do it from your le super epic viewpoint of le super awesomeness, but for some reason you're still basement-dwelling. Might have come across 'the stone', but you're doing it wrong.

I've managed to "tweak" GTAV by "tweaking" my pc.

There was a weird mission where I could only lose. It was a race in the hood part of Los Santos.

I was playing Franklin and I had a shitty car when all the other NPCs had sports cars.

I've played the mission two times and lost twice at the last place.

The "mission failed" screen said: "Franklin didn't win".

Very weird manipulations were required, and if technomancy exists, I'd say it's the hardest kind of magic there is.

Sup fams, just wanted to share a useful little webpage I've been using for a while now. What it does is it randomly pulls a card from the rider waite tarot deck and also has a few links to webpages that I usually use and an option to google search. This webpage is really useful for divination as whenever I have a question I can just refresh or open the page and usually get a relevant answer. I recommend adding it to your bookmarks for convenience. I personally use it as one of my homepages.

The 6 links on the bottom can be changed easily by replacing the links in the index page. The 6 images on the bottom can also be changed by adding the images you want to the images folder and then replacing the old image filenames in the index page with the new ones.

I'm also attaching what I've been using as a resource for Tarot interpretations.

Cheers

Yes, but I do not consider myself to be strong or conditioned. Normal people (my friends) are always impressed and make comments like, "Wow! You're huge!" when I arm wrestle or do curls with them or take off my shirt in the locker room after workouts though. I have a master roshi pump.

I want to take it olympic serious though and gain 40 lbs of muscle, gain gymnastic ability, get 2/4/6/8 pl8 lifts, and run a decent half marathon.

I don't care if I'm being raped by 10 000 liches and demons, with 99 alien slave implants, I should be working for my goals 24/7 serious.

I have yet to hold myself to my own standards.

If you know how to program and you know how to magic, then you don't need suggestions from those who know only one or the other, since they'll have 0 legit responses… unless you go on /tg/ :^)

Numerological significant coding could use the fibonacci ratio in an ai or neuro network for possible sick results. Lines 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8… etc. Put a loop that creates the sequence for multiple functions, etc.

If you manage to create thoughtforms that work purely online/in computers let me know. If you manage to find the secret psy network of communications let me know, I've accessed that shit and there were some awesome people there. Or did I hallucinate that :^)

he just told you it's lightspeed, that provides enough time to break down big things into little 0s and 1s which form bits to bytes and kilobytes to megabytes, and a program reassembles the code back together again

(the real magic is all the lines of codes that make computer architecture, the system that runs as a foundation to run operating systems, which even computer specialists with degrees will get a headache when reading it)

Computer engineer turned esoteric here. It's not really magic. Basically they turn info into an easily transmittable format and then turn it back into info on the other end. If you don't have the setup on the far end to interpret the info then all you have is useless highspeed gibberish. Computer processors work with billions of processes a second. 4mb internet can transmit 4 million ones and zeroes in one second. It's absolutely mind blowing but it isn't strictly speaking magic. You could probably conduct magic through the process. Similarly how alchemy is conducted via mundane chemistry at its core.

I remember back when I was on 4/x/ years ago, some random rich occult anon showed a thread a page of his spellbook. It looked less like an series of incantations and more like a visual set of mathematical equations. Math is the root of all programming, maybe you should try looking for sacred mathematics or something like that.

The thing is, I've heard of something like what >>93702 was talking about in regards to a "Psychic Internet" of sorts. It involved a specific sigil, and the last time I heard about it was when some thelema dude in the IRC I was in musing on the intent to make a trolling thoughtform with the express purpose of causing informational chaos in it.
