As for me, I'm trying to make a game in RPG Maker VX Ace.
It's about a slime monster being gifted with sentience and the ability to learn by the God of Chaos. According to the God of Chaos, there's a "hero" on a crusade to kill the God of Ice, because he thinks the God of Ice is trying to kill the world by cooling it and heavily expanding the poles. As it turns out, the real threat is the God of Fire located in the Earth's core who wants to burn the Earth and let fire elementals take over.
The Good of Chaos doesn't give two shits about the sanctity of life or morals, rather, he wants you to kill the "hero" because if the God of Fire has his way, there will be peace as there will be nothing left to fight over. The God of Chaos, obviously, is a being that hates peace and entropy.
I plan for the game to be a dark comedy, where you end up having to kill normal, innocent people that react to your presence with hostility due to your nature as a slime monster. This is probably why the God of Chaos chose (You), a slime monster, because it's funny to him to have a simple slime monster wreak havoc while saving the world.
I know the quality isn't great in these mp4s but please bear with me. I'm not great with file compression.

Imagine a multiplayer game with sandbox levels like in nu-Hitman, where everyone have taken control of a random npc and the system randomly assigned to a half of the players status of a killer and another half status of a victim. Each side must cooperate to arrest/kill players, but they don't have clues who is who so they must talk to each other or detect strange behavior (some guy took knife from the table for example), add to this computer controlled npc's and your ability to imitate them in order to avoid conversations.
How would you expand on this idea to make it fun to play?

The last character gimmick is finally done.
Rashi Montel is the son of the corrupt and murderous rabbi of Bel Canto. For the character I wanted him to be religious, so I tried to tie that into his gimmick. His gimmick is something I call "the calendar." In short, at the beginning of his first turn, he chooses 6 "laws" to follow, which are applied each turn. On his 7th turn, it is the sabbath, so he takes no action, but regains all of his spent MP. Afterward, his calendar clears and he chooses another 6 laws.
Mechanically, he is a melee, single-target Healer/Damager. He is the only character who has no direct control over his MP regen. As such, he does not need to spend turns performing MP-gaining actions and will regain all 100 MP every 7 turns. Because of this, his abilities all have a heavy MP costs and are intended to force the player to consider on what turn they should actually use abilities.
So far I only have two laws in the system.
"Goliath Principle" gives Rashi 50% more Power (damage/healing multiplier), but he can only damage the enemy with the highest HP% or heal the ally with the lowest HP%.
"Two by Two" gives Rashi +2 movement, but he can only move an even number of spaces.
I intend to add a lot more, but it is easier said than done.
However, to get this working, I had to create some new, interesting systems. Namely, status effects can now alter the pattern of viable attack and movement spaces. Hopefully I'll be able to use this system to create new and interesting things.

I want to make it look like a 2d horizontal shooter similar to darius, except you are the fish and you are shooting at the marines. Cant decide on which art flow to use. I experimented with claymation, paper cutout stop motion, and even just GIMPed a few sprites together but nothing feels comfy yet. Hey /agdg/ there's something I want to bounce by you guys, because I've been on the fence about it.
I'm an anon who has undertaken the task of making a rewrite of feralpheonix's Uncommon Time, last year. As far as script, I've made a whole ton of progress on that front- about 70% done to be precise.
Lately however, I've been meditating on just what kind of game I'd want to make. I've realized that the Uncommon time Project I've been making is exactly what I want to make. The problem is, I've been getting into Godot, and part of me wants to use parts of the story and go on my own path with it.
I really don't know what to do, /agdg/. RPGmakerVXAce is nice, but it has the problem I have with most of the entry-level game engines: accessible with some things, but completely asinine if you want to do anything more advanced. The thing is, I'm still learning how to use Godot. I have plenty of programming experience, except that It's frustrating trying to relearn how to program in GDscript. The last time I did game programming was flixel with Actionscript 3, that was years ago.
It wouldn't be too hard for more to reimagine the characters, the setting and the world for what I've made for my Uncommon Time project, the problem is, I would have to redo all the busywork-related assets by scratch. If I do this, I would be able to actually sell the game for money, and not be bound by the requirements of Uncommon Time as an IP.
The flip-side, with just using RPGmaker and hacking my way through with it. I could actually get this project done. I wouldn't make any money with it, and FP could have a reason to get pissed at me, but it would be an actually-done game. At times, THAT is the most important.

If you really do do something special with it you can use it as proof of your abilities when asking for funding/trying to get a job, but I wouldn't expect a first big project to make any money, even if you dedicated a lot of time to it.

The reason the splash screen states "A real, finished fluffy game" is that this started from an april fool's joke. Originally I just made a fake splash screen for a ridiculous concept of a dating sim, but I ended up putting so much thought into making it look legit that I ended up planning out the entire game. When I learned how easy RenPy was to use, I started offhandedly making it as a joke game, but when an artist joined the team the little joke expanded into a proper game with over 3600 lines of code and over 100 working hours behind it.
Now, my dream is for someone to make a blind playthrough of it, but lacking that just hearing what people think about it is good enough. So, give it a try and tell me what you think!

Started working on a new project
It's going to be a top down shooter. It's a sequel to a couple of past titles I made but this one I will 100% try to sell for cash. It's going to have five missions in total with 10 levels each. There is perma-death in the missions so if you die in a mission you get sent back to level 1 of that mission. but once you beat a mission you can go back to it whenever you want. This will allow me to make harder levels overall since due to engine limitations the levels have to be very small in space. Yesterday I already completed all the game over screens, main menu and load screens.
I don't know if i want to change the main character or not. Right now I am using the same sprites as the first game in the series and they are meh at best. I would like to add more style to the game. So the MC sprite would be more like how it is done in hotline miami where there is two sprites for the MC (legs and main body) this would allow me to add more detail more easily to the MC. This might be annoying and I might copy some of hotline miamis sprites to figure how to make it look good enough to use. Since the MC has a gun that penetrates multiple enemies I want to have it so it shows how many enemies killed with one bullet. So if a bullet kills 4 enemies at once it doesn't have an animation for the first kill but for each kill afterwards it shows 2x then 3x then 4x and once the bullet hits a wall it makes a sound effect for how many kills it got. This would be a bit easy to implement since I just need to make an individual score for each bullet.
Once these two things are done and implemented then I can focus on other shit.

Here is what getting kills look like
For every kill you get in a row with one bullet it changes the text shown and if the player gets 7 or more kills with one bullet the text changes to domination.
I don't know if I should change anything with it other than maybe making the code look a bit better.
