QUESTIONS

>Which game to begin the series with?

Start with Re;Birth 1 to test the waters, then play Re;Birth 2 and/or Re;Birth 3 (with the Re;Translations), and then V-II.

>I've heard of bad translations in the Neptunia games, care to tell me more about it?

Translation Statuses are:

HDN, HDN Mk2 and Victory: NISA cancer.

Re;Birth 1 and V-II: Translation is alright, no worries from these ones.

Re;Birth 2: Not obviously bad at the start, but gets much worse as it goes along: in particular Neptune and Ram were screwed hard during localization. However, there is a Re;Translation made on our very own board (see above links).

Re;Birth 3: Better than the original NISA translation in Victory but still quite a lot of cancer. Main game has been retranslated, translators still required to translate DLC content.

All of the spin-offs: Varying translation quality. These range from cancer to mediocre. Recent releases have been somewhat better overall.

>I'm too poor to buy the games, where do I grab them?

Ask the Volafile or share threads.

>I want to help with the translation efforts

Please don't associate these threads with that shithole. At least you're posting in the superior threads. Remember that /nepgen/ tried to give Tsunako a crappy original character at AX2017 while the members of this thread gave her a letter, some doodles, a SFM poster of Purple Heart, and a cup of pudding that sadly expired by the time it was given.

Also, I'd like to issue a correction to one of your posts from the last thread, the anime came out in July 2013. re;Birth3 would come out in December 2014.

Consider that usually we can refer to local scope equivalents (/v/ or /a/ or whatever) without needing to qualify it. Only if speaking of 4/vg/ for example would it be done. Proposing an alt name is welcome.

>Remember that /nepgen/ tried…

I didn't hear about this, care to share? Wish I got an opportunity to meet IF and especially Tsunako.

So Victory has significant differences in terms of story? I'll stand corrected if so, and that it was nice of Re;birth 3 to give Rei a reprieve in that case instead.

File: e3d3c12554f43dd⋯.png (570.19 KB, 872x1196, 218:299, MINE.png)

I gave SNRPG on Switch about 30 minutes I think so far. I am not sold on its core battle system at least right now it seems pretty basic even for the series. The things I won't fault now is the soundtrack, the visual theme, and against all odds that it was not the Canadians interfering with its core values.

By far my biggest gripe is despite the fact I like its visual style, it has a serious lack of polish. Random menu freezes. Lack of screen transitions. Overworld enemies don't always correspond to the ones you battle. Foreground objects and occasional draw ordering issues. Unclear map structure. The platforming feels close to Miku's Story - Dreams and Important Things in terms of awkward even if I can manage it. Even with good eyesight the text is too small unless perhaps played on a TV. I'm playing undocked. Some of the menu controls could be improved and with the Joycons it would be great to see it possible to re-bind controls. At least dash is in a bad spot on R instead of ZR.

Also I'm suffering from quest bloat far worse than I've experienced in any of the games, and the completed one was some idiot wanting to start a shop, using the initial bit to buy pudding. Sucks that the quest dialogue isn't voiced too. I find it odd that the language choices are Japanese/English for voices and English/French for text. Not that this series has ever been dual-language but still, it would've been nice to see all 3.

The Canuckistanis who made the game were just a bunch of uninspired amateur hacks, the game has a lot of fucking issues, but it's mostly lifeless and it just doesn't seem to work all together to retain your interest, that was mostly my gripe along with the localization and fucking bad presentation, they should have worked with a Nip company like Vanillaware instead.

I've accepted the series in general as one that has lovable aspects marred by mediocre-bad gameplay and/or execution. SNRPG is less forgivable since it's a 2D game getting core engine stuff wrong while most of the 3D games, even the worse ones, have managed to avoid that (4GO is an exception but even that makes up for it in my view).

Just be glad that I bothered to archive it instead of directlinking it. They also got to meet Tsunako during the game's development. Three times in fact.

>>16673300

Well, double dubs, I'll answer those questions:

>Consider that usually we can refer to local scope equivalents (/v/ or /a/ or whatever) without needing to qualify it. Only if speaking of 4/vg/ for example would it be done. Proposing an alt name is welcome.

The anons who first created these threads back in 2014-15 didn't want to continue the things that cuck/vg/'s /nepgen/ did, including the obnoxious yuri shipping (I'm okay with the teasing that the games have, but /nepgen/ acted like everybody was like RED and they still do to this day.) and their still-persistent obsession with spanking and raping the characters. They're also okay with the doujins and Nyamota's art.

>I didn't hear about this, care to share?

See pics related, though I sadly didn't save the thread back when it was on the board. If you want another example of /nepgen/'s poor OC, one of the anons from this thread made a pixel animation that got 4th place for IFI's 4GO fan art contest, while /nepgen/'s entries were made with fucking CM3D2. A drawfag from those threads also entered (the same guy who did most of the E3 images and some others), but it wasn't because of those threads. Another anon from this board also entered, but didn't win, and IFI didn't give any awards to Mendontscream's entry. I don't know what happened to that guy since he stopped posting on his Twitter back in Setember.

>So Victory has significant differences in terms of story?

No, re;Birth3's a port with altered gameplay elements, the only thing from the main story that changed is that the localization is different thanks to NISA holding the rights to Victory's translation.

>>16674013

>that was mostly my gripe along with the localization and fucking bad presentation

>>16675330

>Can you explain more about that? I do know that Compile Heart handled the art and story.

Jokes and names don't translate well with what they went with, the presentation issue was mostly how the game paced itself, the menu was annoying, the introduction of characters, important story bits, and mechanics, it was all half-assed, if you ignored the bad game parts and just focused on the story, it's a Nep game, but this, the game has all the assets to be a great one, there's a lack of polish and QA, the scene transitions are bad, area transitions too, it just doesn't work because the good and bad parts keep knocking each other down, there's gorgeous art but in a game like this it's lifeless, like just a big background and there's no to little interactivity with the player and environment

At least we understand why the Japanese were pissed at the game to review bomb it in Amazon, it's not even good kusoge, it just teases you that there's more and it never delivers.

Speaking of lifeless, her animation of falling into death pits is lousy. They could've been much more dramatic and even made a nod to her recurring gag randomly as an easter egg. Also totally forgot to mention that the environments are pretty but visually muddy for what is what. It's like the pre-rendered 2D in the PS1 Final Fantasy games. Also while I like the visual style, the animation work leaves a lot to be desired, also a low for the series.

About 2 hours into the game now and have picked up a new character and then lost her because goddamn transient party members, but its combat system is opened up a bit so we'll see how it plays out. If it didn't have the bad platforming and optimization (I notice some bits also have sharp framerate drops on top of the general jank) I would probably be a lot kinder to it. More down on the fact that the devs don't seem to be responsive about fixing it. I know 4GO has suffered the same fate but A: It was not like them to release broken crap out of the gate with their previous entries, and B: That was actually a game with reasonable production values.

I also can't presently fault Neptune, she's really carrying it for me at the moment, and I'll admit she deserves the lead role in the series even if I don't normally like her archetype and prefer other girls.

I wholeheartedly disagree, the Tamsoft games have a lot better gameplay to offer than SNRPG. I get that the Tamsoft games have very little story, but at least they aren't a slog to play through. Did they even managed to release a game that has working netcode? I heard they were completely broken (I hate multiplayer games so I never tried). Also for me, the gameplay in tamsoft games was "mash buttons until you win", including the final boss at level 15.

Well, after Neptune got that skill that where she could leech HP with every attack, even SNRPG got ridiculously easy, but at least there you had random (even if not too interesting) side missions and story with an even more loli character than Ram and Rom combined.

Just realizing now the battles have a more lengthy start-up time than I'd like. Also it would not be a Neptunia game without difficulty spikes. An ice golem who has a particular gimmick that if you don't notice, fucks you up, and a cursed book that you can solo as Neptune if you spam items, showing just how unbalanced that is. At least I have some more of the girls, I am disappointed that it's just the 4 mains and Histoire though, and equally that I have not got Vert yet. Someone post SNRPG Noire's hip-swaying her gap is delicious.

I said as much. If it wasn't so bad I might actually place it above the two Nepran games but as it is, no. No way I'd put it above 4GO though that's my favourite game in the series.

Great timing. I had the luscious cocktail dress Purple Heart fig on pre-order since September due out in March, and it finally arrives only a couple of days since I was in the city. I might be tempted to do the day trip just for her since it's been an agony of a wait. By the way Purple and Black Sister are getting the bunnygirl treatment as well. Sage for double-post.

>>16680367

Actually despite my earlier complaint about bloat I think they did better than the main games with sidequests. The fact you actually interact with the NPCs and have silly dialogue is much more enjoyable than the checklist approach of the guild and other games. Unfortunately I don't think you can switch overworld character like you can in most of them, if so I'd love to know. Also the UI design is quite bad for equipping moves and I've seen even more absurdly tiny text undocked, like a couple of pixels tall. I get the impression it was primarily designed for PC and PS4.

Also to new players: You do unlock extra movement tech like in Paper Mario. If there's something you cannot reach, ignore it for now.

Also curious how you encode transparent videos. I probably have to update my toolchain since it was done over a month ago and apparently it's only supported in the experimental Chrome so not Chromium. but it seems to be something like this?

ffmpeg -i aud.webm -i ploot.png -c:v libvpx -pix_fmt yuva420p -b:v 0 -crf 20 -auto-alt-ref 0 -c:a copy -f webm -loop -shortest test_vp8.webm

Test with both. Strangely mpv lists it as yuv420p so hoping it actually is what it's supposed to be. It also seems to be 1-bit transparency given the really rough edges, and that a few extremely translucent bits of noise were on full display with a previous attempt.

Those edges are rough. When doing >>16700909 the workflow was roughly in GIMP:

>create layer mask 100% opacity (white)

>lasso tool with 3 pixel feather edge around a Nep

>invert selection

>box de-select around other 3 Neps

>bucket tool fill black on the layer mask

>repeat for other 3 Neps

>file off any random colour splotches

Also I forgot to do it with this but shadow is literally just selecting anything that isn't transparent with feather edge of 3 pixels, create layer, bucket fill black, set layer to translucent, and then shift it by some amount using guides as a snap-to point.

Posting from the Vita threads since its relevant here as well and that thread is gonna die soon anyways:

Finally finished Trillion: God of Destruction.

Took so fucking long for some reason, but I'm really really glad I did so.

There were flaws with the game, but a lot were clearly because of budget constraints. (the lack of animations for combat, and seeing some unique skills and abilities per character would've been quite nice)

It was a very tragic, very sweet experience. I got some Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann vibes from it at times, and I'm sure at least a little bit of that was intentional. What budget they did have though, they put it all towards the script. Holy shit, the sheer amount of dialogue (nearly all of it voice-acted) was insane, but very gratifying. It was an incredibly tragic, very memorable journey.

The dub was surprisingly good, but I changed to subs because I assumed there would just be more that was voice-acted, period and I didn't want to risk getting to a point in the game where the amount of VA'ing fell off, as are wont to happen in IF/CH games.

Excellent music as well. It accomplished bringing whatever emotion you needed to feel at any point in time. The first time I ran out of affection for my first overlord, I might as well have shat my pants when that music started playing. Doesn't get into a lot of the tracks or specifics but there's no way for me to talk about that aspect without spoiling things due to how, generally, the tracks were connected with important, critical or intense moments.

The funny thing is, when I first started the game I didn't really care for the at all because the artstyle wasn't that impressive to me, but you can bet that changed fucking fast. Now they're all quite precious and dear to me. It'd be impossible for me to choose a best girl from this game. I'm going to finish this game multiple times now, and get all the endings because it deserves it.

Something that I really have to give a lot of credit for is how marvelous the world's artstyle is, or perhaps artstyle of all general concepts.

Its so clever and pretty, conceptually the game is absolutely brilliant in pretty much all aspects in my opinion. From the setting pieces, to the characters, to the items, to the menu icons, to even stuff like the underworld lottery machine. There's also a lot of, just very clever little things sprinkled out across the game. Kinda like easter eggs or subtle symbolisms and shit like that. Its just so unique.

Gameplay was fine and fun to think and work around with such an insurmountable challenge. Its not really right to call this a strategy RPG, and it'd be weird to call this a tactical RPG. I would also be hesitant to call it a JRPG in terms of gameplay because of the grid system and the simultaneous turn style. I'm a sucker for flashy animations and I've been spoiled by other games, but this game sadly does not have much in the way of animations outside of some special exceptions which was a little sad. The core gameplay loop was good or at least serviceable though because of the challenges it presented. When you start getting the hang of it and finally understand how to combat, you will feel like a god with your movements and strikes, that is, until you're reminded of your place and have to figure out an utterly new and overwhelming challenge to overcome. The fact that its also impossible to grind in this game was a very good thing in my opinion. There is a timed aspect and I usually hate that, but for this game it fits mostly perfectly for it and keeps the player honest. Though it is possible to save-scum, which I unfortunately did later because of temptation. I would strongly advise against doing that because it actually hurt the story of the game.

The overall plot was great in my opinion. A lot of mystery and uncertainty as to what would happen on the horizon, as well as just in general regarding the enemy you face. The stops, twists and general progression and things that are pulled are sort of incredible to witness. You really get to see what its like to claw for survival, life and hope with literally everything you have. A lot of the characters are partially developed and its a matter of unmasking more about them (Some more than others), but there's still also room for them to grow and its just heartwarming to see it all happen. The main character is great as well. He has a few… traits that could fairly classify him as a harem protagonist, but he's very likeable and identifiable while also being his own, very unique character (as in, not a near blank slate for the character to self-insert like Krono from Chrono Trigger for example) and quite a fitting one for the story. The writing involving him never felt tired or anything in my opinion, and he's not a Gary Stu like a lot of harem protagonists, especially given his.. unique set of circumstances. I liked him a lot more than Joshua from the Trails in the Sky trilogy, for reference. The writing, especially at the beginning was quite fiery. There's also enough male, bro-tier characters to balance things out so it doesn't feel like you're just some guy getting pussy slathered all over your body at all times (not that I would mind that in certain other games but I do think in this case it would hurt the story if that happened). They made a lot of decisions that i liked a lot, and relatively few I didn't. At times it was also unintentionally meta, in a clever way that hits the player. (or maybe intentionally, hard to tell)

A word to the wise though: don't fucking save-scum like I did, no matter how tempting it seems. You will hurt your experience. If you aren't intended to be that strong at that phase in the game, you aren't intended to be that strong. I also played this game very weirdly and… badly, in that I delayed playing for several months at a time because… I don't know. Maybe the game was too fucking tragic.

The screenshots with this post don't do the game the justice it deserves because I'm very conscious of spoilers intentional, unintentional, direct and indirect. Some of the ones I had were fucked up because of the button-combo in the Vita auto-forwarding through some dialogue so that's a really painful shame.

I'm really glad I went through this game though. It was all worth it in the end. Feels like I found an absolute HIDDEN :^) gem of a game.

The fact that it didn't get the attention and praise it deserved genuinely hurts me considering how much love went into it. Its like some dude throwing his grandmother's home-baked cookies on the ground and saying they tasted like shit before walking away, or like a beautiful flower bed being trampled by the wayside by uncaring pedestrians without a care for the person who tended to it to brighten up their days and lives, as cliche as that image might be. It really hurts me

Its reviews, metacritic user score and Steam rating definitely do not reflect its quality at all. The criticisms I see for this game are pure dogshit from pansies and faggots.

>Too much text!

>its too tragic!

>remove the gameplay and make it a VN and it might be good

>I don't like the time limits bwaaah

Clearly none of them beat the game or understood how fucking stupid any and all of those criticisms are as a result. What a bunch of fucking retards. There were flaws and things that could've been improved sure, but they mainly had to do with budget constraints, but you can tell the team did the best they could with what they had and that they had a love for the game they were creating.

I thought I got the true ending with that post, but since then I've achieved it, as this game pulls out all the stops and never ceases to surprise me.

I've seen complaints like that towards this series as well, though that also applies to some of Compile Heart's other titles. But then again, for every time they do something right, they screw up something else. Both DER;Q 2 and Mary Skelter 2 spoiled the endings for their preceding titles even though they stated that people who never played the previous title can enjoy the sequel, for example.

I don't know and I haven't been playing it lately, got distrated with Bloodstained earlier, and now Trillion due to that guy, and SotN since I've been itching to do those again. One helpful feature in SNRPG is it keeps track of the next objective so I can have gaps without forgetting what I was doing.

French subs kept Noire, Blanc and Vert for the anime, so I see no reason to change that, even for the dub.

I'd appreciate more French text for the games, though, since I have several friends whose only barrier against the games is English.

Well it is a potential concern since they do re-name characters between the English and Japanese. Arfoire and the CFW villains notably. I am curious whether they all source from Japanese or if some are sourced from English, French especially is very compatible to English.

>I'd appreciate more French text for the games

The irony is I actually talk to a leaf online, and he would be better off with the English dub because his eyes have an issue that make reading really difficult.

Never trust any company that says you can enjoy something without the preceding title

Its always fucking marketing, of course they want as many people to play their newest release as possible. Even when it actually is true, there probably would be great benefit towards playing the older titles anyways that would help one's understanding going into the games in question. NISA is doing that right now with CS3 and I don't think I need to let anyone who knows even a little about the trails series know why that's fucking wrong

I love IFI but if they did that that's a little disappointing considering its what everyone else does

I don't normally like spoiling things but i've found i had to because other people i've talked to had the same issue with it. There's a system where stats you gain on one character transfer to the next one making sure you constantly grow in power. The game has a NG+ mode and kind of expects you will fail your first run, taking those stats to round 2. There is a golden ending where you save everyone. It's a wild fucking ride and a damn shame more people didn't try it.

IFI publishes the games in the west even though they have their own problems, like the quality of their ports despite the beta tests or the general lack of advertising for some titles like DER;Q and Dragon Star Varnir. Though I'm more worried that it's PS4 only at the moment, considering that Shina's Glitch form was altered and the third pic was from the first game. Also, they've said the same stuff regarding the Nep games as well.

https://gematsu.com/2019/07/death-end-request-2-announced-for-ps4

http://archive.fo/oA9M9

>The game follows three girls living in a women’s dormitory, who get caught up in mysterious phenomena and conspiracies as boarding students go missing one after the other. The girls’ names are Mai Touyama (voiced by Chiwa Saitou), Rotten Dollheart (voiced by Madoka Asahina), and Liliana Piata (voiced by Manaka Iwami).

>Shina Ninomiya (voiced by Hisako Tojo), Summer Life, and Lydia Nolan from the first game will also appear.

>Death end re;Quest 2 is set in a fictional town called Liz Soara, which was created in the image of southeastern Europe. Occult horror-related developments will occur there, with the occult concentration for the sequel being a 200 percent increase over the first game. The story is set in the real world of the first game, and the design direction has a sense of realism. And as previously noted, you will not have to play the first game to be able to enjoy the story of the sequel.

For the anons that finished the game, keep in mind Shina's ending from the first game. Also, who the fuck names their child Rotten Dollheart?

Some new Nep figures were announced at Wonder Festival 2019, a sleepy version of Big Neptune and another Blanc from Broccoli and figures of PH and BH from that one SNRPG tapestry from FLARE. The prototype for Good Smile's Purple Heart COOL figure that'll come with the Limited Edition Blu-Ray (which won't come out until Christmas 2020 for some reason) was also there, alongside a proto for Broccoli's sleepy Blanc figure and the painted versions for Wing's Big Nep and Hobby Japan's White Heart figures. The sleepy Nepgear and Vertex's NEXT White and NEXT Green figures will likely be shown at a later date.

Broccoli also had the painted version of Shina from Death end re:Quest but she's not a nep.

Still 100% unsold on NEXT forms. White Heart especially gives me some sort of penguin vibe for whatever reason. Also, I think you got the content of that doujin wrong, it had Noire and Uni getting defeated and raped by a guy wearing a condom mask like that one enemy in Moero Crystal. Cru's normally the one doing the corruption stuff even if it's just Purple Heart aside from some other neps having cameos like Big Neptune. Sorry for the mix-up, I meant in the moral degredation sense but yeah corruption refers to physical corruption on the panda. Either way I don't mind this one since it doesn't go full mindbreak or sex dungeon bullshit, shows some understanding of the series, and it's good for reaction images.

Also 100% agreed about author commentary, it's usually good for a laugh, or insight into the author. That said I'd prefer the work itself demonstrate knowledge of the series it's based on. Unfortunately some H doujinshi are just using whatever is flavour-of-the-month girl as a glorified prostitute.

>You get attacked on purpose when your clothes are ripped, right?

Guilty as charged.

Lastly, is this actually a thing that happens in HDN? I thought the only game with clothing damage was Nep AU. Nep BvZ has already-destroyed but strangely no destruction.

Here's the archive of the vch thread:

http://archive.ph/gU1Wi

I'll also repost the more important news, the first of several projects besides E-Ninja to celebrate Neptunia's 10th anniversary:

https://gematsu.com/2019/11/neptunia-game-vvvtunia-announced-for-ps4

http://archive.ph/pf9AU

>Compile Heart has announced VVVtunia, the latest entry in the Neptunia series, for PlayStation 4 in latest issues of Dengeki PlayStation and Weekly Famitsu. It will launch in 2020 in Japan, and commemorates the 10th anniversary of the series and 25th anniversary of Compile Heart parent company Idea Factory.

>VVVtunia is a spin-off story where the four goddesses team up with virtual idol unit Mewtral to save the digital world of “Virtual Land.” Mewtral consists of six idols, only two of which have been revealed thus far (Yuu and Mii). Jin (Shizen no Teki-P) is collaborating on the game as a sound producer. Here is an overview of the story:

>"Planet EMO is faced with the threat of destruction by the content-destroying “Anti.” The goddess Fair, who protects the planet, pins her hopes on saviors from another dimension. Neptune, Noire, Blanc, and Vert, as well as Mii and Yuu. The girls summoned to an unknown world must save Planet EMO."

>Anti consists of characters named Airpuu, Armor Golem, Fake Book, and Suman Hohorn.

>The four goddesses and virtual idols each have their own actions. The four goddesses fight enemies through casual shooting, while virtual idols mow down enemies with consecutive attack actions.

I should note that Katsuyuki Hirano, the character designer for the Moero games, is doing the designs for the new characters and outfits, though the Neps on the key art slightly resemble Manamitsu's art, especially Noire.

Both Dengeki PlayStation and Famitsu had pretty big articles regarding the announcement, though both had pretty much the same amount of content. Famitsu's article also has some art from Tsunako and commentary from people regarding IF's 25th anniversary: Tsunako, Keiji Inafune The guy who claimed that the Japanese gaming industry needed to imitate the Western gaming industry back in 2012 several months after his cameo in Mk2, Nana Mizuki, Rie Tanaka and Tatsunori Nakamura.

I was going to post all of the scans, but due to issues trying to post the Famitsu scans I'll just post an anonfile link to them and just post Dengeki Nepnokai Vol. 93. The link's safe, I used that site to get the GoG installer for Ion Fury back in August.

https://anonfile.com/T6v5VfC5n0/VVVtunia_Scans_zip

As for the game I'm pretty mixed about it, Noire's outfit is pretty nice and Vert looks good with those shorts but the other outfits (including the rest of Vert's outfit) don't look good and the new characters are pretty forgettable.

Take note of the poor attempt at a shocked expression at around 0:40. Given that this game will see a return of the Mk2 style cutscenes, I wouldn't be happy if they use this style of animation for them.

Could anybody suggest me games that have similar gameplay to the Neptuna games (I'm thinking mostly about R;B1-3 and VII, not the various spinoffs). The consensus about the Nep games sames to be good story with okay-ish gameplay, so I'm interested in something that's similar but has a good gameplay.

Maybe I should stop messing with low-quality doujinshi shit, anything is a great game compared to those RPGmaker eroges and half-assed unity trashes

I think the crux of the issue with VII is that it's taking itself too seriously. It's trying to have more interesting gameplay, but absolutely nothing is executed well, so it crosses the line from inoffensively bland to actively flawed.

This wouldn't be much of a problem if the writing was the same as ever but it isn't, it's doing exactly the same thing wrong. It's trying to be engaging and have a proper plot and everything but isn't good at it, and in doing so only takes away from the character-driven stuff that people play this series for. It's a game with some high points, but also big time low points, which isn't something I can say for the Re;Birth games.

>Gold Third are just not interesting in the slightest

My opinion is different, but whatever our personal stances on this are I'm sure everyone can agree that K-Sha is the worst Nep character ever.

While I'm still waiting for someone to find those mods that I mentioned in >>16807894 and re-upload them, Famitsu posted some more info on VVVtunia (first pic) which mentions a "Guest-connect" system where famous Vtubers can appear as guests. They're captured in the game's world and converted to "V-cubes"; upon rescuing them they'll help you out in battle.

Source: http://ryokutya2089.com/archives/27989

All I have to say regarding this is

Why?

This idea feels short-sighted, what could be considered "famous" today could end up "forgotten" or even "reviled" tomorrow, just like what happened recently with the alcoholic drink Strong Zero. Then again the whole game feels short-sighted, but considering how forgettable the Mewtral girls are, it feels a bit like this game was supposed to an original IP until they decided to add the main four Neps to boost sales similar to how that Jet Girls game added characters from Senran Kagura as DLC even though the game flopped hard.

Anyway, Dengeki Playstation published alongside Nepnokai Vol. 95 (which will be in a separate post due to the file and size limit) a larger article on VVVtunia compared to Famitsu's article, showing some new characters, the Vtubers that will appear through the "Guest-connect" system (third pic) and some early designs for Neptune's outfit from Katsuyuki Hirano, the same designer as the Planet EMO characters (fourth pic). I personally feel that they all look somewhat better than the final design, especially the pre-final designs.

From Hololive, which is pretty much expected considering that Azur Lane did a collaboration with them last year and Compile Heart worked with Yostar on AL Crosswave.

>Teaser Trailer – 10:10 to 11:08

>Behind the Scenes – 12:47 to 16:15

I have to admit, the models look better in motion, there's new assets and enemies, and they're putting more effort into the gameplay if the teaser footage is anything to go by. But I'm still going to be cautious until more gameplay footage is released.

http://archive.ph/DZh8D

To the anon that said in the vch thread that Azur Lane Crosswave looked boring, guess you were right. The game currently has a 57% on Steam right now even though it came out on Thursday with the most common complaint being that the game's mostly a visual novel despite most of the advertising and screenshots focusing on the gameplay. The other complaints are:

>gameplay is dull and repetitive, mostly consisting of circle strafing and spamming the attacks at the same 4 enemies

>story tries to be semi-serious, but it's ultimately generic and predictable, with the only good parts being the character interactions

>the PC version's a lousy port that has issues with the resolution, no graphics options, and it doesn't even have proper keyboard and mouse controls

>the Neptune DLC is only available until March 31, which means she's unintentionally promoting piracy with that action

>the people at IFI completely ignored all of the complaints regarding the port on a post-launch stream, saying that they're only publishers, not developers

Considering that the reviewers are saying that the mobile game is superior to its adaptation, this is a major fuck up on Idea Factory and Compile Heart's part due to the lack of effort. Though considering the reception to the anime, the blame could also be given to Felistella since they're the guys that developed the game.

https://www.gematsu.com/2020/02/dengeki-playstation-to-cease-regular-publication-with-march-28-due-issue

http://archive.ph/HwYjJ

>PlayStation-specialized magazine Dengeki PlayStation, which is released monthly in Japan, will cease regular publication with the release of Vol. 686 on March 28, the publication announced.

>First launched in 1994, Dengeki PlayStation has a history spanning 25 years, but various factors including changes in the state of affairs surrounding media such as magazines, as well as changes in the delivery of game information, have led to the decision to cease publication.

>Dengeki PlayStation said that it is considering producing periodicals in the form of occasionally published special editions and magazine books in the future.

Well, this means Dengeki Nepnokai Vol. 100 will never happen, though there will be three Nepnokai's in March's issue to make up for it. Compile Heart also announced that their next title, which could potentially be the next mainline Nep game, will be revealed in that issue as well.

Here's the rest of the scans and a translation for the Nepnokai's art (the 4koma's simple enough to understand), the Vtubers on the fifth page are the following:

>Sifir Esirer

From Asano Sisters Project which is expected since CH's Vtuber Ileheart did a collaboration with that group:

>Akane Asano

>Ruri Asano

From Horror Academian:

>Medwin Toris

>Asacre Peace

>Kotoko Iwa

From ReVdol!:

>Isabella Holly

>Katya Uranova

>Xi Mo

>Seika Li

>Tamamo Jinguji

>Rose Barrett

The last page also has a small interview with the dev team and concept art of the pre-final designs for the Nep's outfits. While Noire and Vert's outfits have noticable differences compared to the final version and it's funny seeing Neptune wielding a knife, a katana, and a bladed weapon at the same time, I still don't think that Hirano's a good character designer compared to Tsunako. I even noticed that Vert has lost the "braid" part of her French braid.

I also have a different version of retranslation that doesn't require repatch or copying gigabytes of data, but it's completely untested and slightly increases load times, if anyone is interested.

This next game really needs to be good. I don't think the nep fandom can take any more flops.

It could be difficult.

I think they run out of ideas for nep games by now.

I want a GTA style game set in the Neptunia universe, for no other reason than I want to cruise around in Planeptune and Lastation in a car pimped out with all sorts of Kawaii Uguu nonsense.

Compile Heart president teases announcement of “final entry” in “popular numbered series” in March 28-due issue of Dengeki PlayStation

http://archive.vn/eUVQx

>Compile Heart has published a video message from company president Norihisa Kochiwa teasing the “final entry” in the company’s “popular numbered series” in the March 28-due issue of Dengeki PlayStation—likely referring to the Neptunia series.

>Standing in front of a wall of blurred out Neptunia series posters, Kochiwa says:

<This is an announcement regarding “the final entry in our popular numbered series.”

<We recently reported this on the Compile Heart Twitter account, but our new title will be announced in the March 28-due issue of Dengeki PlayStation, which will end its regular publication."

<"I thought, “Why not reach our finales together?” and took the leap to make this the “final entry.”

<A page of our history will conclude alongside the March 28-released issue of Dengeki PlayStation. (Dengeki Online, Dengeki PlayStation Live, etc. will continue.)

<I hope everyone will buy the issue and please support us until the end of the venture.

<I thought just publishing the news in the magazine first was too small, so I’ve taken this opportunity.

<Thank you very much.

>The video message ends with the letter “F” appearing on-screen, followed by the text, “Please pick up the March 28-due issue of Dengeki PlayStation, which will end its regular publication.”

>According the cover of the latest issue of Dengeki PlayStation, the “final entry” teased by Compile Heart is Mary Skelter Finale.

Oh, fuck you Compa for even thinking of that bait-and-switch. At least there's still the three Nepnokai's in that issue to look forward to.
