>anything of the Disney take on Order 66
NO.
None of that is acceptable. I can buy it done as a reflex trained into them, I can buy their fast response as anger in response to betrayal. But they were always aware of the possibility that they would need to kill their Jedi generals. They lived with it, and it spoke to their character whether they obeyed the Order or not. That the Jedi weren't aware simply tells us that none thought to ask. None of this mind control crap and being utterly clueless about what they were going to do.
On-topic, I like the idea of some thing out in the Unknown Regions trying to call together a new Sith Empire. Feels vaguely Lovecraftian. Otherwise I'd rather see Wendig slammed into a table until he swears to never write Star Wars again.

Out of all the post-Disney shit I've been torturing myself with lately, the ones that have most twisted my knickers are those shitty Marvel comics concerning pic-related and the Wendig novels. Holy fuck this bitch really drives me daffy. Doctor Aphra just pisses me off to no end. Initially it was bad in terms of writing and the reddit-tier humor with her being obnoxiously sassy around Vader while having "le evil" versions of C3PO and R2D2 tag along. It never got better as it went on, only made worse by the fact that at first it was moderately tumblr, what with the "stronk female minority heroine being cool at every thing lololol" but then it just got progressively more in your face about it, especially after she turned out to be some "fluidsexual/whateverthefuck" turbo feminist icon. Hell she almost makes Rey look better if not for the fact that she is pretty much a non-force sensitive version of Rey and the Rogue One bitch put together. There is literally nothing this bitch can't do except be a fucking jedi. And it only gets worse by the fact that she's being mentioned everywhere and being added in a decent amount of merch and vidya. Not even during the EU did a newfag character with little to no connection with anyone outside the main cast get this much fucking glory. Its like she was first designed in a Disney/Marvel executives room to decide what kind of character the new feminist nerds of Star Wars would want. Holy crap, there were so many other better ideas that could've been done. It could've been done so much better, or even use a barely explored character from the old canon and make them something worthwhile. Holy fuck, only thing worse is how everything in the nu-EU has to revolve around the OT and the main cast from the original films. There's no fucking depth in any of this. What in the 'bloody hell that is the Queen Elizabeth's rancid 100 year old snatch' made them think this shit was a remotely good idea? And fuck whoever made the alternative cover for that first issue of Marvel's new star wars comics.

The Disney shit with Order 66 is some of the faggiest shit on the planet and is done because they can't stand having almost all of the clone characters have the moral ambiguity of being perfectly willing to open fire on the Jedi or the Chancellor himself if given the order.

I like most of the nu-Sith lore fleshed out in the Vader comics and some of the new novels. Tarkin and Lords of the Sith in particular here, because I feel like the authors are taking advantage of the reboot to give Sheev a more coherent motive hidden under his plot device robes.
It's not that One True Lore! Palpatine was bad or anything, but with G-canon updating the lore as time went one, inconsistencies stood out between depictions created for different points in the continuity when there was more or less official background information. He could have been a vulgar Machiavellian, a true believing Dark Side cultist, dispensing with Sith orthodoxy if it served his aim of eternal power, or secretly trying to use a very cynical view of necessity to save the Galaxy from alien invaders. Canon! Sheev doesn't have that problem (yet) and can be layered and cohesive. He's currently portrayed as glad to create the Empire out of obligation to the Sith Order but disinterested in being King Shit for its own joy. The Empire is merely a civilization-spanning tool, a means to a new end of transcending even his master Plagueis' immortality achievements. The relationship between him and Darth Vader is also more sincere and philosophical as a complicated friendship and twisted teacher and student dynamic rather than Frank immediately disregarding cyborg Anakin after Mustafar and already planning his replacement. He's even willing to accept the possibility that the Dark Side might "choose" Vader over him when the time comes to fulfill his visionary experiment with the Force contrasting with One True Lore! Palpatine who expected to be an exceptional snowflake and never get bested by an apprentice.
Meanwhile, writers have done a respectable job of reversing the pussification of Darth Vader. I'd actually argue they went a bit too far in some regards with Vader pulling off aerials and upside down spin slashes despite being encased in his support suit. At least he isn't being bitched around as much for the benefit of some contracted artist's special and beautiful OC excepting one situation where Vader is completely fresh in his cybernetics and still a Sith novice.
What I don't like, though, is how they're wasting the Sith civilization lore that made the pre-movie EU so engrossing for me. It seems like they're just starting Sith history as a rogue faction of Jedi who incited a civil war only 1,000-years or so before the Clone Wars.

As much as I dislike this as well, I'm pretty sure Disney isn't doing that as much as you're thinking of what Lucas originally intended to be the origin story for the Sith.

I enjoyed the Thrawn book and I'm curious about Luceno's Tarkin book but neither of those really count as hardline disneyshit because they're both written by EU authors. I'd never pick up a Wendig book.
I liked that Rebels/Rogue One used different squadron markings on starfighters but that was common enough in EU comics so it's only new for film and TV.
I also liked that they chose to show the morally dubious side of the rebellion in Saw Gerrera's terrorists, but even that's very hamfisted and it's only used to make the other rebel groups look nicer.
The shoretroopers and tank drivers look all right. It's hard to mess up stormtrooper variants though.
Everything else about the new canon has either been a noticeable downgrade or pure shit tbh.

What I think is that they're using Lucas' idea to write the history for nu-Sith, which is part of a bigger problem I've had ever since the reboot. They sometimes point to "Lucas' intentions" for why they go the other way from the EU/One True Lore but have no problem flippantly disregarding that same vision whenever they feel more like pursuing their own ideas. Dave Filoni refused to acknowledge the existence of Sith spirits in Rebels because he was sure that Lucas never wanted Sith having an afterlife as established in older EU sources. I wonder how Lucas would have felt about flight by lightsaber.

I don't like how Sith lightsabers are made by "bleeding" the lightsaber crystal of a jedi. It makes them reliant on the jedi rather than the sith manipulating nature to their whims which fits them better as artificially creating red lightsaber crystals.

I agree. The only issue is that they're part of a Disney product so everything that made them badass is downplayed. The Death Troopers for example were a great idea on paper but once they applied the Disney filter they turned out to be the same as the random trooper who died or exploded because he missed the last step in the staircase (see their appearance on SW Rebels).

I like the Operation Cinder stuff from the new battlefront game. If you don’t wanna with the cutscenes on YouTube like me, basically Sheev’s contingency in the event of his death was to order the remaining army and naval forces to glass as many planets as possible. The fact that it’s such a petty dickhead thing is what I love about it. “I can’t live so nobody can fuck all y’all” is perfect. Classic Sheev.

It's not exactly that vulgar. Operation Cinder doesn't apply to any random planet but rather anywhere that had a certain personal connection to him or was the site of where he was stashing away Sith crap. It was conveyed as an act of punishment against the Galaxy from beyond the grave, but unbeknownst to either the Imperials or the New Republic he was covering the Sith Order's tracks by burning the evidence.

After that, the new Inquisitors proved to be incredibly dull, and the usage of their lightsabers was just as dull, which made me lose interest after that. Initially I was hyped and was even considering watching Rebels regularly, but then it began to dip after realizing that it was nowhere near Clone Wars in terms of quality or budget, and then things started to get duller when they started bringing in the biggest imperial figures in the galaxy to take down one small group of worthless rebels who could barely influence one city on some backwater planet that was basically not-Alderaan.

True, the nu-Inquisition in general is a massive case of wasted potential. The initial behind the scenes videos painted them as an order of Force users whom Vader and Palpatine were deliberately keeping weak in the Force in order to avoid any of them becoming a threat, and who were instead taught to rely on technological gadgets and gimmicks to make up for their shortcomings. Then we saw more of them, and aside from Seventh Sister occasionally using probe droids for things, it was just the Grand Inquisitor all over again, as you said.

Still dumb tbh. A clone's duty should be to follow orders. It could just be explained that Order 66 was in case the Jedi betrayed the Republic and the Clones willingly acted on it because they themselves felt betrayed. With only a few disobeying because they believed the order was an error or misunderstanding, or because they believed their commander wasn't part of the Council's corruption. Even a few books did this sort of thing.

I didn't mind it so much as not seeing much of a point to them. The idea that they have miniaturized repulsorlifts to enable flight that Filoni yanked straight out of his hairy ass for damage control over the helicopter spinning just makes me wonder why that idea made it into an episode. If that had been explained and used much earlier in the series and broken down in deceptively plausible way it wouldn't have looked so stupid, but they waited until the last episode with inquisitors to have them Yoshitmitsu around.

I suspect it’s something that was imposed by a higher-up at either the Disney Channel or Lucasfilm, rather than something chosen by the people making the show. It came across to me as a blatant attempt at lightening the mood and injecting a little levity into a season finale that was otherwise much darker and more of a downer than the channel’s usual fare.

Usually this gets eye rolls from /co/ types who think darkness in cartoons is for edgelord manchildren trying to make works more overtly mature than works. I don't think anybody was expecting Rebels to try to be Game of Thrones so much as Batman the Animated Series (1994). That's the kind of "dark" that enables older fans to enjoy it while giving younger ones a safe exposure to what might be called maturity to the point they're even more enthused about it than the adult demographic.

Honestly, all of what you just described sounds completely fucking retarded and doesn't work at all if the clones are written as anything other than unfeeling machines that just do their job. As The Clone Wars TV series royally fucked that possibility in the ass and threw it in the trash, mind-control chips were really the only way to bring about Order 66 in a justifiable manner instead of 50% or more of the clones getting suspicious about Palpatine's motives, questioning the orders or outright telling Sheev to go fuck himself and warning the Jedi instead. Not to mention it made for much better storylines in the end with post-Republic clone PTSD and secret conspiracies.
Also, the mind-control chip idea were in place before the Disney take over as I recall.

I guess when you retcon the Old Republic era it's pretty easy to be on the top of the Sith charts even if you are an extreme burn victim being kept alive by machinery. Don't get me wrong, love me a Sith cyborg but Darth Vader doesn't strike me as much of a warrior, mind you even a "flunky" Sith is still a terrifying thing to the Galaxy and that shouldn't be downplayed. At the hight of the Galactic Empire Vader was supreme bad ass of the galaxy no doubt, but ancient Sith did things that would make Vader soil his drawers (if his dick hadn't been burned off).

My friend, you don't even understand what the Sith are. I won't argue Vader is iconic, and I'm a big fan, but the whole point of both Vader and Obi-wan in the original film was that they represented a weak, old, and dying religion that had been worn to tatters from it's once powerful origins.

Obi Wan credited the destruction of the Jedi Order to Darth Vader in ANH. Darth Vader himself said he was more powerful than the last time they fought. I don’t buy into this whole, “they were just tattered remnants” shit at all. It diminishes Luke’s challenges in facing Vader and it’s the flip side of why the new trilogy is so awful.

Okay. So you only know about Sith from Bioware who are basically massive hacks. Like I said, you don't even understand what the Sith are. Also you clearly weren't paying attention to the games because they state that there were even more ancient and powerful Sith than Malak and Revan. Also sorry if you don't buy in to it, but the movie OUTRIGHT states that it's a weak dying religion. That Imperial that said it wasn't just doing so to be a cock, it's a line of dialogue written to establish what's being said to the audience. The force may still be strong, but there are like 3 fucking force users left in the galaxy, one of them is a burn victim, and all of them are old farts. I'm sorry you can't cum if Daddy Vader isn't the strongest coolest Sith ever, but it's established in the first movie that it wasn't the case.
>It diminishes Luke’s challenges in facing Vader
It doesn't diminish Luke's challenges. he's still an untrained Jedi facing one of the last Sith who was trained as a Jedi, not to mention Palatine. Perspective is a thing. All that other crap is just wank by authors trying to make their shit relevant by increasing the power levels.

It doesn’t say that. It says Vader is the only one left of the Jedi religion and they are all but extinct.

Pretty much. Nihilus and Kreia are the only unique Force-wielding antagonists in the EU and Nihilus was basically a throwaway red herring Galactus expy while Kreia was the personification of "muh grey area" antagonists that moral relativists love so much. I'd also argue that Count Dooku was also kind of unique because he was primarily politically-motivated while the Sith thing was secondary.

Even writers like Michael Stackpole were kinda heartbroken by George's decision and hoped that he would change his mind when being forced to rewrite shit.

What was Lucas's motivation for that anyways? I've heard the claim that it was so that Anakin Skywalker and Anakin Solo wouldn't get confused, but that seems kind of stupid. If you're deep enough into EU lore to even know who Anakin Solo is, you're knowledgeable enough to know the difference between him and Skywalker. Lucas is a smart guy, certainly better than the prequel-bashers give him credit. But every so often he has a burst of 'tism that's just implacable. He also can't write dialogue for shit, it seems.

My bad. Let me explain. The author of that Nar Shadaa comic (which was also the one where we meet Han Solo's "wife") had a muscle bound hutt with spider legs. The author himself is basically a bit of a beta who hates stories where the Empire is fleshed out or humanized and he had trouble liking Clone Wars since he said it was like "trying to watch a show about Hitler before he became evil" and he's a feminist himself from what I understand, so if he is behind Dr. Aphra, it would explain why he has such a boner for her, but then that was a stupid comparison on my part since his kind of mentality is pretty much the norm now at Marvel Comics/Disney.

Oh no, don't come with that one. She was "interesting" when she was one of Vader's goons, who had some soft spot for her due her resembling his late wife, even at subconscious level, which goes with the "spark of good who remained in Vader", but even so he disposes of her when she becomes a liability. After that she's a fucking Mary Sue without reason to be.

The comics he wrote were Showdown on the Smuggler's Moon which had Solo's wife, Solo being pathetic and the muscle bound hutts and some other crap.
The one who wrote Dr. Aphra is this soy-looking shit http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Kieron_Gillen
However, he likes villains but he only knows how to write them as pathetic victims of society and won't stop setting up Aphra as the hottest shit ever to the point where she has made the Aphra Family bigger than the fucking Baobabs since every fucking university and archeologist society has a tie with Aphra now.
Also a snipit from when "our heroine" Chelli Aphra was a little girl
>Sometime after splitting with Chelli's father, raiders attacked their home, following her mother's request Chelli ran, however she returned with an awesome cannon that she had found in a cave and killed the raiders

I have to agree. Only thing redeemable about him is his design, but even that is just a copypaste of Revan's, with JJ even admitting that he was a big fan of Revan and even claimed Kylo was the actual "Scourge of Malachor V" before Rebels retconned this as being a replacement for the Mando-Jedi War where Sith and Jedi fought on the planet instead and ended up being petrified into stone along with everything else on the planet instead of it becoming a hellish stormy chaos land ruled by savage mutated lizard men that eventually ended up being destroyed way before the PT era. The war Rebels handled it just made it clear that Kotor was simply a tall tale/legend, and nothing more. And that really grinds my fucking gears.

You want Lovecraftian? Take the fucking force itself. Some kind of otherwordly energy or maybe life/creature that exists in a way that we can't quite comprehend and is thought to be responsible for life (and that's actually a lie as shown by the existence of the exile), maybe it evens suggests this to people, who knows, and that uses this said life in cold and brutal ways like we're a bunch of warts to achieve esoteric and incrompehensible goals ("balance"). All this Jedi bullshit about balance and all that shit is just a coping mechanism. The talk about serving the force is exactly what it wants, to make us into slaves. In a lovecraftian context the Jedi are the Cthulu cultists. I'm not sure what the Sith would be though.
>oh but Jedi do good things and help locals yada yada
That's the micro, not the macro scale. Jedi don't even understand what they're serving.
Forgive my english, I hope anons can understand what I was trying to say.

Not really relevant as she was born with a connection to the Force like any other living being. If she had been born without it, then we'd have something to talk about to validate that shit. And its not really slavery it performs since only a minority of people are able to even use the Force or even sense the force. The slavery aspect is solely to blame on the Jedi/Sith and their constant eternal-rivalry shenanigans.

Consider that "flunky" was 80% of Palpatine, who by the ROTJ was more close to a walking Force nexus than a person.
Also the guy was a emotional wreck, he was basically a clinically depressed person entombed in a claustrophobic smelly clunky armor, unlike Palpatine, who was a psycopath over and over, Vader had to deal with the consequences of his actions, all the guilt, the mutilation etc.

What do you mean by that? That Vader had four-fifths of Sidious's power? If, so, where are you getting that number? How would you even quantify that outside of shit like Dragonball?
I've always considered Vader a badass If there is some EU material that changes this impression I'm not familiar with it, just one that's had his potential sorely diminished. He's still a master swordsman, and he's got a competent grasp of basic Force techniques like telekinesis and choke, after all. But he can't conjure Sith Lightning or advance farther in mastery of the Force because he's more machine than man.

""Anakin, as Skywalker, as a human being, was going to be extremely powerful," he says. "But he ended up losing his legs and an arm and became partly a robot. So a lot of his ability to use the Force, a lot of his powers, are curbed at this point, because, as a living form, there's not that much of him left. So his ability to be twice as good as the Emperor disappeared, and now he's maybe 20 percent less than him. So that isn't what the Emperor had in mind. He wanted this really super guy, but that got derailed by Obi-Wan. So he finds that, with Luke, he can get a more primo version if he can turn Luke to the Dark Side. You'll see, as this goes on, Luke is faced with the same issues and practically the same scenes that Anakin is faced with. Anakin says yes and Luke says no."

nah the TCW brain implant thing (like most things in the show) was oversimplified because of the tv format. That's the sole reason they even turned it into a chip–so they could have a nice and concise arc of episodes that would keep viewers hooked.. Republic Commando/EU had more nuance and made the clones FAR more interesting. I'd rather take a series full on dedicated to the GAR rather than a tv show that occasionally merely dips into GAR/clonetrooper stuff. If you're only taste of the old clonetrooper shit is Battlefront II, then fair enough, the whole thing might seem a bit weird and cold. But with the full picture? The EU clones make far more sense and are far more intriguing. It's actually full on hard sci-fi and it feels much more in line with what was introduced in Attack of the clones. It helps that they were written during that era, not years later after ROTS.
