I think we all knew articles like this were going to be written. I doubt an 'insider' said this exact quote. I think a 'pr representative' said 'we'll pay you to say it'll please last jedi detractors.'

They will never officially say anything like this. Officially JJ made no changes to the script because of fan reaction to TLJ. Remind normalfags of this. All the outreach to fans will be through 'press releaks'

We all knew this was going to be their marketing strategy. Fall back on J. J's mystery box and nostalgia gimmicks. Rian Johnson is ironically enough the best thing to happen to Disney Star Wars for actual Star Wars fans. He massively sabotaged the Mouse's plans, whether intentionally or not.

there were several niggers in empire and jedi, as well as a fuckload more in the prequel trilogy. basically, george divided the racial percentages of the cast based on the locations in the films. think of it as like america: whites are everywhere but minorities tend to only be in urban areas, outside of that they're spread very thin. now the shekel trilogy wants you to think minorities are everywhere in the galaxy, just like they do in real life when passing laws that don't accurately reflect the urban/rural lifestyles of the country.

>There are no talented artists in the industry because art schools don't teach people how to draw anymore

This. I’m taking a STEM degree but signed up for an art class because I like to draw occasionally and figured I’d learn how to actually do so well. Two classes in and we’re doing mark making on 40 some 6 inch by 6 inch pieces of paper and we’re not even allowed to do anything that is something. So we have to either do dumb abstract stuff or if we use pencils or ink you have to make it vague and “non-representive”. I talked to the undergrad teaching the course and said I think contemporary art is dumb and I only signed up to draw better so he said he’d try to fit one (1) assignment in that includes some realism, but realism was removed from the course requirements 6 years ago. Then we watched some video of a nigger doing a satire of the typical youtuber but he was explaining what art is and the instructor wanted to make it clear that, as the nog said, art is a thing that has no purpose, and art requires no talent. To think otherwise was “antiquated”. I have friends in a full art school and they are both really good artists, and I very briefly considered applying for the art college but figured I wasn’t nearly good enough and then reaffirmed to go into STEM (thank god). But they assured me you didn’t even need to be talanted or know how to draw to get into the art school. The whole thing is fucked, and that’s why everything is shitty cartoon style or vaguely anime, nowadays.

There's a school of thought that artistic whites fucked up by going into STEM. I tend to believe it, and I regret not pursuing writing as a career. I can't say you made the wrong choice - since it's the one I made, but I have regrets.

I might just join the army, I wish conscription was still a thing.

I meant to say art is anything that has no purpose, which has a much worse implication then just art is a thing that has no purpose. Am mobile posting please forgive autocorrects That’s what we were told in the class.

>This is absolutely depressing that a significant portion of people truly believe this. Art should be about cultivating beauty and expanding people's minds.

Well it’s not anywhere near a majority of people, it’s only artsy people. That is one of my biggest issues with modern art: all eras of art had symbolism and meaning which the majority of the population didn’t understand. But paintings and sculptures were still made with beauty so even the lowliest peasant could look at a renaissance painting and remark on the beauty and pick out the basic theme. Those interested in art, which were and still are largely upper class liberals (modern liberalism is not at all similar to liberalism 100 years ago), could see and discuss the hidden motifs and more obscure symbolism. Now beauty has been removed so the average person has no connection to the art anymore. Modern art is basically pure symbolism, but without any actual symbols, which is another issue. No longer can anyone identify the meaning behind art because splashing paint on a canvas haphazardly and calling it a day doesn’t give any question to pick up on. It’s a meaningless presentation where each individual has to project their own meaning onto it, which sounds great but in reality it is only those who have studied the artist or is aware of the context surrounding the creation who can guess what the artist meant. But that’s even antiquated thinking because modern art is supposed to only have the meaning each individual prescribes to it. Someone was trying to explain to me that each art piece is only completed once the person viewing it finds a meaning in the art. This is all incredibly pretentious and is why defenders of modern art will claim “you just don’t understand it”. Which is true and the issue, but what they fail to realize is that they are not understanding the work as the creator does, they are merely projecting that they want onto that sculpture of old umbrellas and steel rods welded together at random. Which is why modern art is so popular with the highly emotional liberals and feminists, because every single piece is only completed by themselves and only means what they want it to mean, disconnecting the vast majority of the population from the art world where artists just try to be as meta as possible and nothing means anything.

I ramble a lot and require some more effort to make that into a more coherent, structured argument, but I think all the points are floating in that paragraph somewhere so it’s probably good enough. Basically Hitler said it best: “‘Works of art’ which cannot be understood in themselves but, for the justification of their existence, need those bombastic instructions for their use, finally reaching that intimidated soul, who is patiently willing to accept such stupid or impertinent nonsense—these works of art from now on will no longer find their way to the German people.” Or basically anything from his speech on the opening of the great German art exhibition.

You don't need to be taught how to write, though. Chekhov was both a celebrated physician and a playwright - yet he never studied a course in "writing." I will never understand this American obsession with making a degree out of absolutely everything, even if the thing itself can't really be taught. All non STEM degrees - barring law - should be relegated to the status of a diploma or a certificate at best. This post modernist shite that seems to now pervade the social sciences and the humanities doesn't deserve the status of a full degree. If it truly is all "relative" now, if there truly is no standard of quality, then these subjects really shouldn't be seen as equal to the hard sciences academically because they're simply not (anymore).

Suffice to say, if you want to write, then write. You don't need a degree in literature because that degree isn't worth the paper it's printed on anyway.

This genuinely pathetic. Star Wars can't be saved because George Lucas is done with it. Star Wars ended when he sold it. Fan fiction will always exist, but none of it will really be worthwhile. People will just have to make new science fiction and fantasy stuff.

The fact that you're desperate for more content is sad, you're like an obese freak who can't stop eating food, despite it having already nourished you. When Lucas, the original artists, decided he was done, Star Wars ended. Just because the brand still exists and keeps on getting slapped on shit, doesn't mean the art is still being made.

Let me ask you this, does anyone care about any of the Sherlock Holmes stories not written by Arthur Conan Doyle? There are thousands of them because he's in the public domain, and they sell a little, but no one really cares because Sherlock Holmes belonged to Doyle. Star Wars ended, it had a beginning, a middle, and an end. Stop being a braindead consumer and learn to be satisfied.

People will read them, I don't see your point. Sherlock Holmes is like Robin Hood or a Greek Myth or a historical figure; people can do their interpretations of it and they do all the time. But people don't go into a Sherlock Holmes fan club and say "JUST WATCH MATLOCK FATSO".

I hold hope because TLJ has shown that Disney can bleed. Even with their billions, star wars has been all-in-all a money sink for them.

Fun is profitable.

The abusers and narcissists in Disney are sucking the fun out of star wars on purpose to spite us, but in doing so, they ;pse money just to think they are superior to us in their own mind. In reality, they've stacked themselves high so they can look down on us, but they don't realize how thin their tower of lies and condescension is.

>The best case scenario is death, because it is already irreversibly spiritually dead.

It's only spiritually dead in your mind. You know that if you just wallow in this thought negative process of wanting destruction, that the universe will prove you wrong just to spite you.

Is being angry at everything actually useful for you? No, it's not useful. Let that anger go.

There's been a lot of info circulating around regarding those parks and its sounding like a train wreck before its even been finished. Not to mention they're wasting over 2 billion making two versions of this park that are both exactly alike.

Which is great; every failure is more reason for them to hit the brakes on their SW content. Though even if the rides suck I want to see that park and hotel just for the theming of it; even if it's just generic sci-fi hardly resembling SW, that would still be pretty cool

A quote for you.

>"The cynic is one who never sees a good quality in a man, and never fails to see a bad one. He is the human owl, vigilant in darkness and blind to light, mousing for vermin, and never seeing noble game. The cynic puts all human actions into two classes: openly bad and secretly bad. All virtue and generosity and disinterestedness are merely the appearance of good; but selfish at the bottom. He holds that no man does a good thing except for profit. The effect of his conversation upon your feelings is to chill and sear them; to send you away sour and morose. His criticisms and hints fall indiscriminately upon every lovely thing, like frost upon flowers."

George Foreman won the Heavyweight championship at 45. That doesn't mean that you are going to as well. Secondly, this is not 1860. The percentage of the population that reads is smaller, and there are far more writers. Writers who are doing nothing else but write every single second of the day. The common factor all successful people have is drive, unless they have ungodly levels of talent or charisma. Luck is also involved, but you can't plan on getting struck by lightning.

>quality is more important that quantity

This is a false and dangerous distinction. Producing one novel over a long period is almost guaranteed to fail because is is likely that nobody is going to find it, and the odds are it won't be very good. It's somewhat like a lottery where each book is a ticket. The key to the discipline of writing is producing good work as fast as possible. And writing large amounts quickly makes you grow and improve as a writer. And ultimately, that comes down to a time investment.

You _can_ succeed as a writer with a full time job, but you are basically in for a very shitty life, because you aren't going to be watching tv or playing video games and writing a page or two every day and thinking you'll succeed. If you want to be a writer, you have to commit to it. The 'STEM degree to fall back on' argument works against this, because as you might have guessed, being a successful engineer involves an investment of time. Most engineers can't do a simple 40 hour work week. One of the two things has to win out.

>The "american obsession with degrees" doesn't really exist outside of narcissist circlejerks who flaunt it as a status symbol, or old people who earned a degree when it actually meant something. Nowadays people get jobs through connections and skills by learning it through trade schools or the internet.

Aside from the fact that skills learned on the internet are by no means the same as skills learned in a rigorous institutional setting no way would I let myself be treated by someone who self-taught medicine from the internet, and I have seen countless cases of people who think they understand my field from the internet, but in reality have deep-rooted and fundamental misunderstandings of both the material they learned (because they had nobody to catch it and correct them) and the present state of the art (since their learning is all secondhand, rather than interacting with those actually working in the field), how do you think connections get made?

University is an excellent place to network, because a) professors are actually involved in their field, with teaching only being part of their responsibilities, and b) they've seen tons of students go through and either also go into the field, or move on to other fields where the skills they learned from the degree program were applicable. A prof can at least point you in the right direction, and often introduce you to useful contacts. That's the whole reason universities have departmental meet-and-greets for the students to mingle with faculty. One conversation with a prof who noticed your diligence in class can put you in touch with another prof who can set you up a meeting with a former student who's now a senior analyst at a national bank, and just like that you have an "in".

>just give up, goy, you can't possibly be a writer unless it's the only thing you focus on and you don't do anything else!

Nice Stephen King tier advice you probably got from a YouTube channel. You should post some Tai Lopez quotes next.

>Writers who are doing nothing else but write every single second of the day

Have you ever read stuff from those sorts of people? It's always shit. Chuck Wendig is a writer who is constantly writing, he has countless books, yet nothing he has ever done is actually worth reading. The best writers throughout history were not those sort of cock suckers. Now, if your only goal is to make money and be "successful" then sure, write for at least 8 hours a day every day, edit for at least 4 hours, and read for at least six hours a day. Shill yourself on every social media platform, network with editors, and keep on shitting out meme tier writing that fucking blows and is only liked by other faggots in the industry who have no real life experience and wouldn't understand something meaningful and profound if it was sodomizing them with fire hydrant.

That whole self-help, capitalist, survival of the fittest mindset is exactly why the vast majority of art being produced today is dogshit. You have begun to associate exposure, financial success, and popularity, with merit, with worth, with artistic value. When the two things have nothing to do with eachother. You're right about one thing, though, there are more writers in the world today than there ever has been in the past, if you want to climb to the top of the shit heap you're going to have to acclimate yourself to swimming in diarrhea, to inhaling feces on a regular basis. If the inside of your skull didn't already look like a toilet bowl, though, you'd realize there is no value in being the king of shit, it's better to leave the shit hill entirely, and live a simple but good life separate from it all.

Think about Fantasy writers for a second, who's the most well-renowned? Tolkien. He's been considered the best for nearly a century, and writing was not his profession. He was a teacher, who wrote for fun, in his spare time, casually, when he felt like it, and yet he still produced a lasting piece of fiction. Then compare him to the writers who write for a living, George R.R. Martin, Timothy Zahn, Ursula K. Le Guin, is anyone going to give a shit about their work after they're dead? Nope. They aren't, because everything professional writers put out is disposable trash, most suitable for wiping one's ass. They write because they have to to live, not because they actually have anything worth saying. That's why George R.R. Martin stopped producing A Song of Ice and Fire, he no longer needed to because he finally had enough money to live the life he wanted to live. There was nothing in that saga that actually mattered to him, it was just a paycheck, there is no message to Game of Thrones, there is no theme, there is no value, it's just a job. And once the show ends, so will the fad, because the illusion will dissipate when people see that the ending is just like the beginning, a whole lot of nothing.

We should write because we want to write, not because we're trying to earn a few shekels, or some esteem in the eyes of the masses. If anyone on this board has a story to tell, they should tell it, and no bitter washed-up wannabe hack like you has any right to tell them they shouldn't.

Okay, I apologize. Let me give you the same shitty advice everyone else has given you: if you can DREAM it, you can DO it! You got this! Ten minutes every night will make you just like Tolkien! Writing is EASY.

>Tolkien was a part timer

He practically lived in his fantasy world. He spent hours of his life just thinking about it and mapping out the geography and languages. He conceived of the Fall of Gondolin in the trenches. To claim he was part time is to gravely misunderstand Tolkien.

>Just give up, goy

What I said was make a definitive choice and commit. Nothing Jewish about that. White men make hard choices. Jews promise easy successes.

>no bitter washed-up wannabe hack like you has any right to tell them they shouldn't

I'm saying put more time into writing and you are sperging about that. Ultimately, it doesn't matter what I tell them. The market for genre fiction is more brutal than anything I've said. If you mean you should write stories and not care about commercial success, well, that's perfectly noble. But you'll need to out food on the table so you won't be creating as many stories as you'd like.

>all the greats were part timers

Yeah, those 'full time'assholes like Asimov, Bradbury, Ellison, Lovecraft, Howard, Phillip K Dick, Lucas.

You seem to just really be angry that someone told your your epic novel or comic book series that you are writing 250 words on every night is unlikely to be a commercial success. All I can say is git gud. Write more.

I only write short stories, and I already have hundreds of them published across the web. And guess what, I got paid for most of them. They're also mostly shit. That's the thing, I can actually be self-aware. I'm not a good writer. I'm a bad writer, actually, but you don't have to be a good writer to get published, you just need to know how to do what the editors want you to do, and you just have to be persistent. Those two things, don't make you any good. Your problem is your entire framework for success. You can't be helped.

All official artwork is traced now. It's much easier to find a stock photo and edit it then it is to draw something fresh. The cost of drawing a full figure well is a lot higher than sketching over someone and then adding the universe elemtns/clothing to it, so that's what they do now.

And if it's fantasy they grab free to use or cheap unity assets, stick it in the poses they want and then render it with suitable lighting. Take a capture and put it into photoshop and you have your "trace" element. This is the entire industry top to bottom because it works, it's cheap and it requires less training. At most people get to customise things, like how the rivets fit on a robot or the rocks on a mountain to hide it's exact stock art.

and they failed miserably because disney is currently stuck with a miserable, ugly, unreliable, bunch of 1 dimensional, california cat lady “political statement” characters, a go nowhere story, terrible writers plagiarists (across all their media with fart/furry fetish), hack directors(nepotism hires) and worse game companies that only seem to want to further alienate fans against star wars. It will therefore never be popular and most likely eventually be forgotten, probably replaced by the influx of new terrible star wars films and the inevitable reboot of the franchise.

The PT despite criticisms of the films had characters that were well received Darth Maul, Clone Troopers, Grievous, etc. all sold well and people were generally interested in seeing how the events of the OT came to be. In addition Lucas arts further expanded on their story with good quality additional content (games, books, etc.).

I still think a major downfall of the prequels is that Anakin and Padme just aren't great as characters. There's still more than enough to like in the prequels though. Young Obi-wan was great.

Sure Padme was completely unnecessary until the end and her love affair and death was not used as effectively as it could have been.

Anakin failed due to bad casting, as he was not the right guy to depict young Vader and George made a few bad calls such as wasting the first film with a little kid Anakin instead of using it to develop adult Anakin but as you say prequels have much to like despite flaws which are made increasingly less relevant by the disgusting festering putrid slop disney spews out and expects the general populous to consume.

I don't agree I think many things could have been edited or shot differently. As atated the TPM should not have had a little kid Anakin simply because it meant less time to develop Anakin and his fall to the dark side which as a consequence is rushed in the next 2 films.

Anakin's fall to the dark side was well-designed in theory, but it was rushed. like one minute you're an angsty teen, then suddenly you're Vader. in a larger sense, I think the rise of the Empire was rushed too. there's too large a jump from III to IV, and the Empire seems too well established and consolidated to be the recent work of an usurper. alot of this could be resolved by extending the Imperial era further back. the prequels should've started with the rise of the Empire, not the Clone Wars (a story which could be told elsewhere).

>>30685

it wouldn't be that hard to fix the dialogue. you could save the infamous sand line by having Padme lol at him.

I've been toying with the idea that the prequels could have gotten away with not showing the transitional moment where Anakin becomes Vader at all. Think MGS3. It give you all the info you needed on why Big Boss eventually betrays his country and becomes the character he becomes. You don't actually need to see him building his villain lair and committing war crimes. That's just fluff, really. The standing at the grave moment tells you everything.

This would also preserve the ESB twist for those who don't know, and deal with issues like why Obi-Wan and Vader seem to have aged a little more than 17 years in the space of 17 years. Luke and Leia kind of have to be conceived before Vader becomes the robot monster, but that can all happen off screen.

The sand line is fine as far as actual dialogue goes, but what it lacks is good visuals to back it up. Anakin and Padme are just standing and talking against a generic background when they deliver their dialogue, and that wastes the visual element of film, which a good director should take advantage of. Imagine if the scene went like this instead:

Anakin and Padme are on the beach. Padme is sitting in the sun, on a towel right on the sand, maybe even idly playing with the sand or water with a hand as she talks to Anakin. Anakin, by contrast, is sitting on a beach chair (higher up away from the sand), in the shade under an umbrella. It's a little thing, but those visuals both show the distance between the two. Anakin is someplace else mentally a darker place, oooh, and it's clear the sand evokes very different thoughts in him. It's not a bad line per se, but it doesn't take advantage of the film medium at all.
