maybe, but even shitty anti-Trek and based crypto-Trek still bump their respective threads and keep some heat going for the franchise. If this were reddit we could keep each other occupied with grill Trek fans who bake cupcakes and stroking each other's namefagging egos over walls of texts, but this is not reddit. Image boards are ephemeral by nature and rely on external stimulation. We're less good at organizing our own playdates and being self-contained, so shit kind of burns out quickly.
The only strength we have in the off-season is a deep treasure of back-content to generate OC and crossover to other boards and communities (swole and pol, basically, but i personally enjoyed the brief inroads into /ck/ ) as well as an above-average tolerance for autism. The problem i think is that its really easy for blackpill-pushers and shitposters to have a louder voice on slow boards and it only takes one faggot having his 5-hours of shitty Gimp work getting mocked-out completely and he's pretty much bullycided >>>/out/. This is completely normal and healthy on other boards, but if your board has little to no external happenings to stoke it, the blackpilling can snuff out posting. I don't know how you fix this, because hugboxes are shit - you have to balance building-up and tearing-down to summon and retain the meme champion archetype. I think you need bullies and i am steadfastly pro-bullying, but you also need bullies who bully the bullies and maybe /strek/ lacks those or maybe no matter what you do it's just not gonna be a good volume when there is no new content no matter what.
