I fell deep into this rabbit hole years ago, and I don't know how to feel about it. It felt like stumbling through wonderland, except I stuck around long enough to learn how everything worked instead of going home back when it was all exciting and mysterious. It's funny how you don't realize how deep in the pit you are until you finally climb out of it. You look over all the things you did and realize: "Yeah. I probably wasn't any better than the rest." My mental state improved leaps and bounds while I was away. I disconnected enough to where the land became mysterious again, and like a fool, I fell for the siren call when it whispered my name. Coming back was like slipping on an old shoe. All my experience and all my knowledge of how consuming this place was did nothing, as my defenses were eroded over time, assimilating me back in. History repeated itself over and over for years of my life. It was an endless cycle, and I was a fool for ever assuming it'd be different.
There are wraiths down there, in the dark, endless pit that you all live in. Horrible monstrosities. Soulless husks, dancing on strings designed to drain you dry of all you have. Like damned souls in hades, those trapped reach up outward, desperate to bring others down with them to save them from their fates. "Come home! It's different now, and everything's fine!" Like the sweetest of whispers, begging the idea that diving back into that brackish muck won't drown me in further melancholy. So I sit here on the shore, watching from afar as others drown in leisure and pleasure, jaded. Seems every day, some new temptation washes up from you guys, trying to pull me back in. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't tempted, but I don't know if I'm ready for the full assault on the self the hellhounds provide down there. You guys hurt me pretty bad last time.
If it's all the same, I think i'm going to stay here on the safe shores for a while longer. Thanks for hearing me out, though.

I've been there. The only solution is to login when they're offline and then remove and block them and stay away from the sims they frequent for a couple of months. FYI if you login through the website you can see who is online on your friend list without revealing yourself. Just wait until they've been logged off for like 30 minutes then give them the ol' remove n' block.
