After speaking to a guy who literally thought it took hundreds of people to program SL, I was kind of inspired to start a little "SL like" engine thingy project for the fun of it, and though I don't actually plan to do anything with it in the long run (too lazy), this got me thinking:

Lets say someone creates "SL 2.0"; how hard do you think it would be to get the SL users into the improved engine? What do you think it would take, publicity wise and feature wise, to really make an impression with the people?

Sansar is basically a platform to build VR compatible games/"experiences" just like Unity and Unreal are, and much like Unity has the asset store and Unreal has the Unreal Market, they're selling user-generated content for people to drop in to their experiences. The only difference is Linden Lab plans on doing all the multiplayer hosting in the back-end and that's basically going to be their draw to get you to choose them over the other two.

Why the fuck do you think they're hand-picking specific creators to get to use Sansar first? So that people start building shit to sell in their market before they launch.

Next they'll open up things for all creators and SL users so everyone will pour in to check it out and do their server load testing for them.

It's pretty genius really, especially since idiots like those in half this thread honestly think it'll be SL 2.0 so they're hyping themselves and their friends for a newer, better SL when that's not even close to what it'll be.

The most you need to know is how to set up RLV folders. The BARE HUD might help on telling how to do that. BARE will work with any outfit, be it on a human mesh, furry, anime or whatever.

JasX HUD outfits can also be used for BARE. I believe those outfits in particular allow an underwear layer too.

There's two important things to note when setting up RLV folders.

• When copying your outfits, be sure to right click and "paste as link". Useful if you happen to have any trashy no-copy items.

• How RLV folders work is things get detached and attached from that folder when things happen. Example being if your torso layer breaks in BARE, the contents of your "Dressed/Torso" or "#BARE_Chest" folder detaches, and anything from "Bits/Torso" or "#BARE_Chest_Nude" will be attached.

Here's how to set up your folders in the pictures provided.

I've actually been meaning to do this exact thing. I look at it like building a custom PC. Some people don't want the hassle and just want to be handed a well researched solid machine.

I've thought about making my own kind of pregnancy HUD that, instead of imitating regular mammal procreation has its own set of actions, as well as a much higher customization regarding fertility cycles and such.

The thing is, i'd like to make it compatible with both Mama Allpa's and Deciduan's male HUD.

I've researched but i couldn't find anything on how to make that happen, creators seem very paranoid about their code and have no support for third party addons at all, not even a hint of an API. It obviously uses specific messages on hidden channels like everything else in SL does, but i haven't found a way to scan for such. Can anyone help me out?

going on hiatus would be a better word. I'm too busy with rl to devote a lot of time to it and there's not a lot of point paying 100 buck a month for a place i'm not using. Its all packed up nice though so i could hypothetically bring it back fairly easily.

there are some serious problems with the whole japanese highschool thing though. LIke, i liked the rp that happened there, but it was all assorted d,vg and HH peeps that i could have good rp with in any setting. The people that came in specifically because of the setting... a little less encouraging..

It's a little game of sorts using that Experience system that has ya collecting corn and fighting off some monster things that occupy said cornfield.

You gain corn coins as you return your cache of corn and from coins dropped by the monsters you kill which you can spend up upgrades for your self

Keep in mind you kinda need to enter through the region Portal Park to get into the Cornfield, as it's a Linden thing.

While it's an interesting experience at first, it's ultimately a big fat pointless grindfest. None of the later weapons seem to deal any better damage than what you start out with either. The shotgun implies there's some range behind it, and yet you can only shoot it at melee range to damage the "griefers". Only the armor is truly useful.

Everything else are just farm-related things you can be rewarded with if you spend enough time grinding, which you can use for your avatar or for props in a sim.
