So /ratanon/, what animes do you like? Which ones do you think are a good fit for the rationalist-adjacent community, and why?
Pic naturally related.

Puella Magi Madoka Magica deals with themes like rationality, wishes, p-zombies, utility, and hope. That's what we're here for, right?

Right wingers are always stupid, and I say that as a non-leftist. The problem is that some inconvenient facts have fallen into the possession of such a group of dunces, simply because they've been discarded.
It's weird how the smartest group falls prey to the equality myth. Moldbug was a lot closer to the truth than most of those that came after him, since he's entirely comfortable with the idea of making Obama CEO of America. Literally the only thing wrong with liberals is that they refuse to be the honest and open natural aristocracy they could and should be.

Depends on whether you consider "right-winger" to be "conservative" or "doesn't give a fuck about the poor", there are plenty of smart people in the latter category.
Of course, thanks to the magic of memes, right winger nowadays means "anyone who disagrees with any aspect of American east coast progressive culture".

>For decades radical politics was almost exclusively the domain of anarchists and other explicit anti-authoritarians. Sure there were neonazi gangs on the streets of many cities and the occasional Trotskyist or Maoist on the edges of the activist scene, but anti-authoritarianism was for all intents and purposes hegemonic.
This doesn't ring true. Radicals' revealed preference for making their values law is as old as radicalism. How is that anti-authoritarian?

Gankutsuou is good and contains rat-adjacent levels of traps and gay. Funimation has the dub free on youtube but you miss out on Nakata Jouji if you take that route so don't do it.

Joke's on you, I did actually watch dubbed Cowboy Bebop, because the torrent was the dual audio and it defaulted to English.
I endured 12 entire seconds of dialogue because I'd heard the Cowboy Bebop dub was really good. I'm not going to make that mistake again when I watch Big O.

I have recently realized that I simply accepted the default opinion about Cowboy Bebop's Japanese voice acting, which is strange because I don't like dubs. Cowboy Bebop just has a different mood in Japanese. Spike is not quite the same person. He isn't as perky. However, that does not make the Japanese voice acting worse.
Do Fullmetal Alchemist and Big O have famously good dubs like Bebop?

Bebop's dub is watchable. It's not good. I don't know how anyone can endure Faye's English voice for more than 30 seconds.

Each of Fate/stay night's three routes is about letting go of utilitarianism (under different circumstances). What is actually pretty clever is that in one of the routes characters who bonded over utilitarianism abandon it for the sake of each other. It sort of makes you wish it happened more often in real life.

No it isn't, dude just gets visions of how the local Monkey's Paw magic item is going to use his utilitarianism to justify killing everyone when he makes his wish, and that plus having to murder his waifu (again) mind-breaks him and turns him into a virtue ethicist. No actual argument against utilitarianism, just a bunch of fucked up shit happens.

The thing to understand about Fate is that there's not anything to understand, it's pure chuunibyou: Rule of Cool crossbred with fractally complex power-levels/world-building. It's like Warhammer 40k or other nerd universes: it hacks your systemizing, but there's never an end to it, there's always another unit or character or secret.
