Rep. Jordan Calls On FBI Director To Explain Actions In Michael Flynn Counterintelligence Probe

Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan, the top Republican on the House Judiciary Committee, wants FBI Director Christopher Wray to review the bureau’s investigation into whether former national security adviser Michael Flynn acted as a Russian agent.

Jordan and Rep. Mike Johnson of Louisiana, another Republican on the Judiciary panel, asked Wray in a Monday letter to produce all FBI documents that refer to “Crossfire Razor,” the FBI’s code name for Flynn.

“We write to request that you immediately review the actions of the FBI in targeting LTG Flynn,” the Republicans wrote to Wray.

They sent out the letter after revelations last week that the FBI determined by early 2017 that there was no evidence Flynn, a retired lieutenant general, worked as a Russian agent during President Donald Trump’s campaign. The bureau kept the investigation open, however, at the request of Peter Strzok, the former deputy chief of FBI counterintelligence.

Other documents released last week show that top FBI officials strategized before a Jan. 24, 2017, interview with Flynn at the White House.

“What is our goal? Truth/Admission or to get him to lie so we can prosecute him or get him fired?” reads a handwritten memo from Bill Priestap, who served as the FBI’s chief of counterintelligence.

Strzok and Joseph Pienkta, an FBI agent, interviewed Flynn at the White House that same day regarding his phone calls in December 2016 with Sergey Kislyak, who was at that time the Russian ambassador to the U.S.

So…we know that since at least November 2017, the White Hats were tracking the pond scum through their little online game chatrooms; we also know that the [DS] did their first 'live' test of their virus in ChongQing in April 2018.

Between those times, we have Q239 regarding the c_a's con of "The Asia Foundation" along with and interesting string that brings up a certain pdf document exposing how the begging for funding and including lots of poofery and fuggery and language that says everything except the reasons for stealing American taxpayer dollars; in 2017, to set up a specific organization.

Here's the thing, I came upon this again while looking for the Q post about the c_a not being able to be cleaned and that it has been absorbed into the No Such Agency.

So…reading the pdf is truly an exercise in wondering HowTF this was ever allowed. The c_a is essentially dictating that government funding is absolutely necessary - in the first paragraph - and then spends the rest of the piece, offering ideas on how that funding could be accessed and granted to them…although to be fair, there are no calls in the doc for any removals of those in opposition…however, at the end it does say that if the gov doesn't want to accept "their approved" option 1 then they should accept option 2 although not approved by 'them'; but no mention of just telling the clowns to blow it out their ear.

Today, on The Asia Foundation website - current - they note this about their funding that comes mostly from the American Taxpayer:

nearly 92 million from the American Taxpayer, only 5 mill from others

Slush fund (undefined "programs grants and related services") nearly 85 mill

add general admin: 12.5 mill and "fund raising?" nearly a mill and it's easy to see why they show they are operating at a loss.

So…if they are operating at a loss, WhyTAF are American taxpayers still funding them to the tune of 92 million a year?…including last year!!!

Time to cut them loose and stop the c_a from stealing more money off the American taxpayer, just like the china(w).h.o. has been doing.

When I think of all the money that has been stolen off Americans by these types of pond scum it kinda makes me angry…especially since the damn city doesn't even have enough money - apparently - to fix the pot holes in the roads.

I'm sure that 92 million would be much better used for the good of the American taxpayer…after all, it does belong to the American taxpayer.

Reps. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, and Mike Johnson, R-La., on Monday demanded that FBI Director Christopher Wray provide a slew of information after last week's bombshell revelations in the case of former national security adviser Michael Flynn – and the lawmakers are specifically seeking to question a mysterious FBI agent, Joe Pientka, who participated in the January 2017 White House interview that led to Flynn's prosecution.

Fox News has previously determined that Pientka was also intimately involved in the probe of former Trump aide Carter Page, which the DOJ has since acknowledged was riddled with fundamental errors and premised on a discredited dossier that the bureau was told could be part of a Russian disinformation campaign.

Pientka was conspicuously removed from the FBI's website after Fox News contacted the FBI about his extensive role in Crossfire Hurricane Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) matters a change first noticed by Twitter user Techno Fog but sources say Pientka remains in a senior role at the agency's San Francisco field office.

The FBI, speaking to Fox News last December, asserted that reporting on Pientka's identity would potentially endanger his life and would serve no legitimate journalistic purpose. Republicans have previously sought to question Pientka, however, beginning in 2018. On Monday, the FBI declined to provide any additional comment.

Wray, earlier this year, suggested in testimony that several agents could be under internal investigation by the FBI.

“As for current employees, there are what I would call more line-level employees who were involved in some of the events in the report, all of those employees … were referred to our Office of Professional Responsibility, which is our disciplinary arm," Wray wrote. He did not elaborate.

The FBI’s investigation of Flynn also included reaching out to a confidential human source (CHS) and an analysis of Flynn’s travel. The CHS informed the FBI of Flynn speaking at an event, which remained redacted. The CHS further stated that Flynn had dinner and drinks with those in attendance and took a cab and a train with an unidentified individual whose “father may be a Russian Oligarch.”

That may be a reference to Svetlana Lokhova, a Russian academic and author who has disputed any ties to Russian intelligence and has defended her brief interactions with Flynn, including in interviews with Fox News. It appears the FBI found no concern for any of Flynn’s ties to Lokhova.

Based on the lack of derogatory information, the Washington Field Office concluded that Flynn “was no longer a viable candidate as part of the larger CROSSFIRE HURRICANE umbrella case.”

Furthermore, the author of the memo noted that Flynn was not specifically “named as an agent of a foreign power by the original CROSSFIRE HURRICANE predicated reporting” and discussed the absence of derogatory information or leads. He also wrote that at the “direction of FBI management, [Flynn] was not interviewed as part of the case closing procedure.”

Other questions remained as to why the documents were only surfacing this week. The Justice Department turned over the new exculpatory documents on Wednesday and Thursday, even though a February 2018 standing order in the case from United States District Court for the District of Columbia Emmet Sullivan required the government to turn over any exculpatory materials in its possession that pertained to Flynn.

Prosecutors have suggested Flynn's guilty plea allowed him to escape liability for a possible charge under the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA), another little-known and once-rarely used law, for his alleged work in Turkey.

Nabarro’s concerns echo those of Sir Patrick Vallance, the government’s chief scientific adviser, who said he was hopeful a vaccine will be developed but warned it would not be available any time soon.

“All new vaccines that come into development are long shots; only some end up being successful, and the whole process requires experimentation,” he wrote in The Guardian.

“Coronavirus will be no different and presents new challenges for vaccine development. This will take time, and we should be clear it is not a certainty.”

The prime minister will set out his government’s strategy to ease the country out of lockdown in a public address on Sunday.

New measures could include advising people to wear face coverings in public, allowing people a “social bubble” of no more than 10 people until 2021, and bringing in one-way routes through train stations to avoid a second peak of the virus.

I, like some of you, have been wondering why POTUS mentions the 1917-1918 flu so often.

The outbreak was in the spring of 1918, but most likely the planning stages were in 1917.

I came across the video at PBS about that flu and found some interesting connections.

Unlike that flu which was real and killed people, particularly young healthy men of military age, this flu is not that deadly, and targets the weak and vulnerable, as expected.

The 1918 flu was intentionally spread among our soldiers by president Wilson, back and forth to Europe.

The flu stayed confined in the military, until the govt intentionally ignored the risks and encouraged people to hold large parades. They also drafted 13 million men at one time, processing them in close quarters all over the country. They did this all while sending men back and forth to help with war in Europe

CIA Watchdog Sitting on Secret House Report Allegedly Critical of Brennan’s Role in Russian Meddling Assessment - theepochtimes

The CIA Inspector General has taken more than a year to clear the release of a House Intelligence Committee report which contradicts the key conclusion of the intelligence community assessment on Russian interference in the 2016 election, according to the former chief of staff of the National Security Council.

The January 2017 Intelligence Community Assessment (ICA), prepared at the behest of President Barack Obama, claimed that Russia interfered in the presidential election in order to help candidate Donald Trump. The House Intelligence Committee’s public report (pdf) on Russia had already challenged the analytic tradecraft behind this central claim and suggested that the process of arriving at the assessment was not free of political interference.

A separate, classified report holed up at the office of the CIA Inspector General (IG) sheds damning light on the role then-CIA Director John Brennan played in the preparation of the report, former National Security Council Chief of Staff Fred Fleitz learned from House Intelligence Committee staff. A source familiar with the report’s fate would not deny that the report went to the office of the CIA IG.

The report states that Brennan overruled agency analysts who wanted to include strong intelligence in the assessment to show that Russian President Vladimir Putin wanted Hillary Clinton to win the election, Fleitz says, citing conversations with House Intelligence Committee staffers. Brennan had also rejected analysts who wanted to strike weak intelligence from the report which suggested that Russia favored Trump, Fleitz said.

“So Brennan actually slanted this analysis, choosing anti-Trump intelligence and excluding anti-Clinton intelligence,” Fleitz told The Epoch Times.

Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee issued the report in August 2018 and submitted it to the CIA IG in the fall of 2018 to be cleared for public release, according to Fleitz. The former NSC chief of staff says that only the limited circle of GOP members on the intelligence committee had read the report.

In the section of the House Intelligence Committee’s public Russia report that challenged the analytic tradecraft underlying the assessment that Russia favored Trump, the committee stated that it was “planning additional action regarding this information in early spring 2018.” A source familiar with the report told The Epoch Times that “we did do a classified report on the ICA.”

The existence of the House report on the ICA, which has not been previously reported, comes to light less one month after newly declassified documents revealed that the FBI was aware that a key part of the infamous Steele dossier could have been the product of disinformation by Russian intelligence services. The dossier—a compilation of unverified allegations against Trump—played a key role in the FBI’s decision to obtain a surveillance warrant to spy on Trump campaign associate Carter Page. The Hillary Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee funded the dossier.

A summary of the dossier was included in a top-secret attachment to the ICA—Annex A. The FBI pushed to include the dossier in the ICA, according to a Senate intelligence committee report (pdf) on the assessment released last month. The FBI told the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence (SSCI) that they “would have had a major problem if Annex A had not been included.” Former FBI Director James Comey told the SSCI that he personally insisted that the dossier be included.

“I insisted that we bring it to the party, and I was agnostic as to whether it was footnoted in the document itself, put as an annex,” Comey told SSCI. “I have some recollection of talking to John Brennan maybe at some point saying: I don’t really care, but I think it is relevant and so ought to be part of the consideration.”

The Senate report’s conclusions about the ICA clash with those reportedly in the classified House report. The SSCI found no issues with the process that led to the issuance of the ICA and found no witnesses to support the claim that the process was politicized.

“Every witness interviewed by the Committee stated that he or she saw no attempts or pressure to politicize the findings,” the SSCI report states.

Andrew McCarthy: FBI set up Michael Flynn to pursue Trump-Russia investigation

Michael Flynn was not the objective. He was the obstacle. Once you grasp that fundamental fact, it becomes easier to understand the latest disclosures the Justice Department made in the Flynn case on Thursday.

They are the most important revelations to date about the FBI’s Trump-Russia investigation, code-named Crossfire Hurricane.

The new disclosures, in conjunction with all we have learned in the last week, answer the all-important why question: Why was Flynn set up?

The answer to the what question has been clear for a long time: The FBI set a perjury trap for Flynn, hoping to lure him into misstatements that the bureau could portray as lies.

In the frenzied political climate of the time, that would have been enough to get Flynn removed from his new position as national security adviser, perhaps even to prosecute him. On that score, the new disclosures, startling as they are to read, just elucidate what was already obvious.

But why did they do it? That has been the baffling question. Oh, there have been plenty of indications that the Obama administration could not abide Flynn. The White House and the intelligence agencies had their reasons, mostly vindictive.

But while that may explain their gleefulness over his fall from grace, it has never been a satisfying explanation for the extraordinary measures the FBI took to orchestrate that fall.

To understand what happened here, you have to understand what the FBI’s objective was, first formed in collaboration with Obama-administration officials. That includes President Obama, Vice President Biden, and Flynn’s predecessor, National Security Adviser Susan Rice, with whom then-Acting Attorney General Sally Yates and then-FBI director James Comey met at the White House on January 5, 2017 – smack in the middle of the chain-of-events that led to Flynn’s ouster.
