Still, the report seems to be a rare instance of "AfD" and "Jews" not appearing as two opposing sides in the media, which have often accused the party of having neo-Nazi links, harboring anti-Semitic views, and downplaying the horrors of the Holocaust. In June, AfD co-leader Alexander Gauland referred to the Nazi era as a "speck of bird s**t in over 1,000 years of successful German history." Just last month, a local AfD leader came under fire after referring to man who tried to assassinate Adolf Hitler as a "coward" and a "traitor."
Dimitri Schulz, a founding member of the planned Jewish AfD section, agrees with Kuhs, telling DPA news agency that the AfD "is the only party in Germany that makes anti-Semitism by Muslims a topic without trivializing it."
Not everyone is convinced, however – including many Jews in Germany who can't quite wrap their heads around why anyone from their faith would associate themselves with the AfD.
Among those angered by the news are members of the Jewish Students Union of Germany, one of whom told AFP that the party is "one of the biggest threats to Jewish… life in Germany.''
"The AfD is not getting a kosher certificate from us,'' said the leader of the group, Dalia Grinfeld, who said her group is urging all Jews in Germany to join a protest in Offenbach to rally against the creation of the AfD's Jewish section.
The row comes amid a rise in anti-Semitic crimes in Germany, with police data showing that such attacks rose by 10.7 percent in the first half of 2018, compared to the same period last year.

The committee released a timeline describing how committee Chair Chuck Grassley and his staff had responded to misconduct allegations against Kavanaugh, starting with Ford's account of being attacked at a party in the summer of 1982. On Sept. 24, the committee said that staff interviewed "a man who believes he, not Judge Kavanaugh, had the encounter with Dr. Ford in 1982 that is the basis of his complaint."

Committee staff interviewed the man again the next day, on Sept. 25, according to the timeline. "He described his recollection of their interaction in some detail," according to the committee.
On Sept. 26, the committee received "a more in-depth written statement" from the man they had previously interviewed. Committee staff also spoke by phone "with another man who believes he, not Judge Kavanuagh, had the encounter with Dr. Ford in 1982 that is the basis of her allegation. He explained his recollection of the details of the encounter."
A spokesperson for Grassley did not immediately return a request for comment. Lawyers for Ford also did not immediately return a request for comment.
Ford and Kavanaugh are scheduled to testify Thursday before the Senate Judiciary Committee; Senate Republicans have brought in Arizona prosecutor Rachel Mitchell to ask questions on their behalf. Kavanaugh has repeatedly denied the allegations. In written remarks submitted in advance of Thursday's hearing, Kavanaugh said that he "never did anything remotely resembling what Dr. Ford describes."
"I categorically and unequivocally deny the allegation against me by Dr. Ford.
I never had any sexual or physical encounter of any kind with Dr. Ford. I am not questioning that Dr. Ford may have been sexually assaulted by some person in some place at some time. But I have never done that to her or to anyone. I am innocent of this charge," Kavanaugh wrote.

Ford has stood by her accusation. In her prepared remarks, she recounted her claims that at a party while the two were in high school, Kavanaugh pinned her to a bed, groped her, and tried to take off her clothes. He covered her mouth with his hand when she tried to scream, she said. Ford said that another high school friend, Mark Judge, was also in the room.
Judge's lawyer submitted a statement from Judge to the committee saying he had "no memory of this alleged incident" and "never saw Brett act in the manner Dr. Ford describes."
"It was hard for me to breathe, and I thought that Brett was accidentally going to kill me," " Ford wrote. "Both Brett and Mark were drunkenly laughing during the attack. They both seemed to be having a good time. Mark was urging Brett on, although at times he told Brett to stop. Since Ford's accusations became public earlier this month, two other women, Deborah Ramirez and Julie Swetnick, have come forward to accuse Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct. Brigadier General William A. Whitlow retired October 01, 2002.
He received a Bachelor of Arts in Education, Master of Arts in Procurement Management, Master of Arts in International Affairs, and Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College. He was also a MIT Fellow in Foreign Politics and the National Interest.
After he was commissioned in the Marine Corps via the PLC program in June 1971, he attended Naval Flight Officer training and was designated a Naval Aviator in July 1972.
From August 1972 through June 1974, General Whitlow was assigned to the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing. During this time, he served with HMLA-167, HMH-362, HMM-261, and deployed with the 22nd and 24th Marine Amphibious Units (MAUs). His following tour was with 2nd Marine Division where he served as a forward air controller and Weapons Company Commander. In March 1975, he reported to the 1st Marine Aircraft Wing and served in HMLA-367 and HMM-165 and deployed with the 31st MAU. General Whitlow was transferred to HMX-1 in January 1977 and then assigned to the Amphibious Warfare School in August 1980.
Upon completion of Amphibious Warfare School, General Whitlow served as the Marine Liaison Officer/Instructor/Squadron Commander at the U.S. Air Force Academy. In June 1983, he was assigned to the 1st Marine Aircraft Wing where he served as Executive Officer of H&MS-36. After graduation from the Command and Staff College in June 1985, he reported to the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing and served as the Executive Officer and Commanding Officer of HMH-362. In 1989, General Whitlow attended the Naval War College and upon graduation was assigned as the Aviation Monitor at Headquarters Marine Corps. In August 1992, he reported for joint duty with the Department of State. In August 1994, he reported for duty with I Marine Expeditionary Force for assignment as the Commanding Officer of the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit, Commanding General of Task Force Kenya and as Assistant Wing Commander, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing. He recently served as Director, Public Affairs.

I’ve come to realize that my past life as a meth addict has left a mark on me I may never be able to get rid of. I haven’t used in months, I’ve relapsed once since February. But even after all this time, if I ingest too much of any stimulant (even caffeine) I start having serious bouts of paranoia. Yesterday I took 2 servings or Pre-workout before my gym session and I spent the whole night on here freaking out thinking a group was harassing threatening me.
