California lawmakers approve gun-seizure bill in response to Parkland shooting

In response to a mass shooting six months ago at a Florida high school, California lawmakers on Tuesday sent the governor a bill that would allow teachers, employers and co-workers to ask judges to remove guns from people they see as a danger to the public.

The state Senate voted to expand the state’s gun-violence restraining order law, which currently allows family members and law enforcement to petition the court to temporarily remove guns from persons seen as a threat to the public.

Assemblyman Phil Ting (D-San Francisco) said he introduced the bill in response to the shooting at a high school in Parkland, Fla., in which a 19-year-old former student allegedly killed 17 people.

“As we saw in the February massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, teachers and administrators saw early signs that the suspected gunman, a student, could be a threat,” Ting said. “We want to give schools in California another tool to prevent more campus tragedies.”

The measure, which allows courts to take firearms away for 21 days, extendable to a year, was opposed by the National Rifle Assn. and other groups advocating for gun owners, as well as the American Civil Liberties Union of California.

The ACLU noted the measure allows teachers and employers to seek an order without informing the person who is subject to the proposed restraining order, meaning the person “has no opportunity to contest the allegations.”

“We support efforts to prevent gun violence, but we must balance that important goal with protection of civil liberties so we do not sacrifice one in an attempt to accomplish the other,” the ACLU said in a letter to lawmakers.

The Senate vote was 25 to 12 with opposition votes cast by a bloc of Republicans, including Sen. Jim Nielsen of Gerber, who said the bill is the latest in a series of state efforts to “disarm the law-abiding.”

Nielsen said the bill raises the possibility of people seeking restraining orders based on bias or “irrational fear” of a co-worker.

“I view this as another attack on our 2nd Amendment rights,” he said.

Sen. Joel Anderson (R-Alpine) said he agrees with concerns raised by the ACLU.

“This bill poses a significant threat to our civil liberties,” he said.

Arizona election officials were working to fix issues with voting machines Tuesday as residents cast ballots across the state in a slew of primary elections.

Local media reported Tuesday morning that a number of polling places were closed because voting machines had not been set up, while others were experiencing problems with malfunctioning equipment.

Maricopa County Recorder Adrian Fontes told reporters his team was made aware of technical difficulties with some machines at about 100 polling locations Monday afternoon before working with a contractor to try to address as many problems as possible. 'Fix is In': Trump Close to Firing Jeff Sessions - Report

Three sources close to the president told the Washington Post that US Attorney General Jeff Sessions, the head of the Department of Justice, is potentially the next on US President Donald Trump's chopping block amid an administration marred by high-profile oustings.

Senator Bob Corker (R-TN), a congressional ally of the Attorney General, said that his "sense is the fix is in." Department of Justice and White House officials refused comment to the Washington Post.

Trump, a former reality TV show host with the catchphrase "you're fired!" is apparently intent on keeping his reputation as the sacker-in-chief. According to the Post, Trump's attorneys say Jeff Sessions' job is safe for now as they have warned him not to fire the AG while Special Counsel Robert Mueller continues his investigation into possible collusion between members of the Trump campaign and the Russian government. But after the midterm elections in November, the president is likely to stir things up again, Senate Republicans fear.

Reports have surfaced of Sessions having drawn Trump's ire since he recused himself from the Mueller probe in March 2017.

As Senator Roy Blunt (R-MO) noted, cabinet members "seldom last the entire administration, and this is clearly not an exception." Nonetheless, just a quarter in to a potential two-term presidency is a quick turnaround for an Attorney General.

Sessions went to the White House on Thursday amid speculation that Trump may fire him. Trump told "Fox and Friends" in an interview televised on Thursday that "I put in an attorney general that never took control of the Justice Department."

"He took the job and then he said, 'I'm going to recuse myself,'" Trump continued. "I said, 'What kind of man is this?' And by the way, he was on the campaign. The only reason I gave him the job, I felt loyalty. He was an original supporter."

Sessions fired back with a rare response to the President's buffaloing, saying "I took control of the Department of Justice the day I was sworn in, which is why we have had unprecedented success at effectuating the President’s agenda." He added: "The actions of the Department of Justice will not be improperly influenced by political considerations."

The following day, Trump tweeted about the AG on three occasions, referring to the roughly 10-year Senator-turned Attorney General by simply his nickname, "Jeff."

Catholic board seeks parishioner-led abuse investigation

A committee created by the Catholic Church specifically to prevent sexual misconduct by clergy on Tuesday issued a damning assessment of the failings to stem the abuse, calling it an "evil" caused by "a loss of moral leadership."

The National Review Board called for an investigation led by parishioners, saying a new wave of abuse scandals point to a "systematic problem" and that the bishops themselves can't be trusted to lead an investigation.

Some survivors of clergy sex abuse said the call was a disingenuous attempt by the church to get around a true independent investigation.

I used to follow this stuff closely. Not so much lately, with all kinds of things going on world-wide, within our government, on 'news' sites, culture wise (and even IRL). It's just too much. But today I went to QAnon.pub, or .app, or whatever my bookmark links to. Q posted some links to twitter, and upon clicking them I saw a lot of Q!!!!1! comments. YouTube videos the same. It's nice that there are enthusiastic and freedom loving patriots about.

But here's the deal: After being away for a while and coming back, when I saw the comments, from an outsider's view, it looks like the bus from Crazy-Town came by and dropped off a whole load of passengers. Perhaps this is lost on the overly enthusiastic people involved. Perhaps there are anti-Trump folks making pro-Q over the top comments to intentionally make everyone else look weird by association. I don't know, but I suggest Dialing It Back A Notch if it's some of y'all here.

Also, even though it really need not be stated, I have to suggest that if anyone ever suggests taking violent action, or even mean/impolite action against people IRL (EVEN IF IT LOOKS LIKE Q IS SAYING TO DO IT) that nobody crosses that line. It does not help. It will be spun to anyone that will listen in the most negative light imaginable. Sheep might do that, like the brain-drained black mask wearing fools. We're better than that. I've been curious about the "spiritual" aspect of all this. This doesn't get touched on much from the Q team, but my whole life I've known there's more than this. This aspect is what confuses me the most, and quite frankly, I feel it's intentional from (((them))).

As I stated, my whole life I have known that there is something wrong here. I didn't, however, start my awakening until 2009. Back then it was very lonely to be "awake".

I didn't vote for POTUS, I didn't vote at all in 2016, to be honest. Everything I had researched made me feel that there's no changing the evil in the world because too many were sleeping.

Shortly after the election, I had some experiences that I had never had in my entire life. I saw an orb in my living room. It was big, white, and bright and hit an ornament on my tree before disappearing. Shortly after I started seeing orbs, out of no where I started seeing people's auras, started hearing voices/messages, and was even visited in meditation one day from a man with a white beard and hair. He had a whole congregation of people behind him and he told me (which I feel I heard audibly) "they teach where they are at". I met my "spirit guide", etc.

Again, these were completely new experiences for me.

I went through a huge emotional rollercoaster and upon demanding the energies around me to seize if they didn't have my best interest at heart. I claimed the sovereignty of my soul. And no shit - POOF - they were gone. I still see auras randomly, but the orbs, voices, messages, my spirit guide - GONE.

This evil is deep. The manipulation is deep. This isn't even half my story - but I guess I just want confirmation that evil goes THAT deep.

I came across you in March. I was a little rusty in my knowledge due to just trying to live life the best I could. I feel in my HEART this is what I'm here for. This is why I've felt that way my whole life. Thank you for your assistance in waking up the world. We have hope! I have hope! Winning!!!
