Qatar’s Ministry of Defence confirmed five Iranian ballistic missiles were launched at the complex. Four were reportedly intercepted. At least one got through and it landed directly in Ras Laffan Industrial City.

The facility typically accounts for about a fifth of global LNG supply. QatarEnergy confirmed “extensive damage.” The evacuation had already begun hours earlier after Iran published a public warning list naming Ras Laffan specifically and told workers to leave immediately.

Qatar and Iran share the world’s largest gas field. Ras Laffan is the source of 80% of Qatari government revenues.

Part of Iran's reply to Israel-US bombing South Pars this morning and delivered back, with interest (along with Riyadh), to every state in the Gulf that chose the wrong side of this war. Europe heats its homes with this gas. Western Europe may soon start begging Russia but I'm not convinced Russia will be in a hurry to answer the phone.

Qatar says Iran launched five ballistic missiles, one hits Ras Laffan

Qatar said on Wednesday it was targeted by five ballistic missiles launched from Iran,adding that one struck Ras Laffan Industrial City after most were intercepted.

Ramadan is a sacred time for Muslims, marking the ninth month in the Islamic calendar during which the Quran was sent down to the Prophet Muhammed, according to the American Halal Foundation.

The month is a time for Muslims to worship, reflect on the Quran, strive to perform charitable acts and observe fasting during daylight hours as an act of devotion and self-discipline.

The Arizona Muslim Alliance, the shura council for Arizona mosques and Muslim nonprofits and the Muslim Student Association at Arizona State University partnered up in 2023 to reinstate the structure, which had not been seen on the landmark for 20 years.

The light up crescent moon sat 1,000 feet above downtown Tempe where other similar religious symbols, including the wise men at Christmas, the cross at Easter and the Hannukkah star, have been displayed.

This year, the structure was put up as Ramadan began on February 17. Ramadan is set to end on Thursday, with celebrations extending into the weekend.

The exact beginning and ending of Ramadan is marked by the sighting of the first crescent moon on the last night of the eighth month.

'Muslims from across the state came to view the giant lighted crescent, noting that the representation was so important for their children to see,' a fundraiser for the project said.

'Non-Muslims also inquired at the Islamic Community Center of Tempe, located just below the structure in downtown, about the symbol and what Ramadan meant to the hundreds of Muslims who live in the Phoenix valley.'

The Arizona Muslim Alliance said the symbol was created with the help of volunteers, donors and the Authentic Grain Woodworking construction company.

'My MSA team and I came across the star and the menorah that were up for both Hanukkah and Christmas on A Mountain,' MSA President Wid Alsabah, a biomedical engineering student at the time, said in a post on Facebook.

'We couldn't help but notice the absence of the Islamic crescent for Ramadan, which left us feeling disappointed due to the lack of representation.'

'Our journey began with a modest idea, but it took a lot of determination, support and prayer to make it a reality,' Alsabah continued. 'We hope to make the display of the Crescent an annual tradition during Ramadan, with the assistance and support of the community.'

Sumaya Abdul-Quadir, a local involved in the project at the time, wrote on Facebook that the structure in Tempe was the first time she had seen Islam represented 'in the mainstream.'

'It was such a big deal to me and I felt seen in a way I had not previously felt in the first 18 years of my life,' she wrote.

'My hope is that, with something like this crescent, we can set the stage for American Muslims to be seen, accepted and celebrated as a part of this country.'

The destruction of the structure comes as war in Iran has sparked rising tensions, following a missile attack by the United States and Israel that killed Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Tempe officials had already increased security around places of worship before the structure was damaged, according to Arizona Family. Patrols are set to continue through the holiday season.

The Daily Mail reached out to the City of Tempe and the Tempe Police Department for comment.

Israeli minister's daughter who exposed ritualistic sexual abuse by parents and family found dead

Shoshana Strock, 34, the daughter of Israeli National Missions Minister Orit Strock, has been found dead in her home in northern Israel. The circumstances surrounding her death remain unclear, and authorities have opened an investigation.

In recent months, Shoshana had publicly accused her parents and a brother of sexual and ritualistic abuse dating back to her early childhood, including allegations of conversion therapy, hypnosis, and sexual exploitation.

This resulted in a gag order, which made Israeli media unable to report her complaints and the entire case.

A friend of Shoshana said she was not trying to take her own life, but was afraid someone might kill her.

Minister Orit Strock announced the passing of her daughter, Shoshana, who was found lifeless on Shabbat.

In a brief statement she published, Strock wrote, “With a broken heart, I update you on the passing of our beloved daughter Shoshana."

Shoshana Strock was found lifeless on Saturday at her home in Amirim. The circumstances of the incident are being examined by the police.

Emergency services received a report about the incident, and a team from Magen David Adom was dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, the medical teams found Strock in critical condition, without a pulse and not breathing.

The medical team began resuscitation efforts in an attempt to save her life, but after prolonged attempts, they were forced to pronounce her dead at the scene.

American borrowers has faced a growingclash between mortgage rules and the reality of a hardening insurance market.

With premiums at record levels in many states and some carriers retreating from high‑risk areas, condo associations and rural homeowners have increasingly struggled to find coverage that meets Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac requirements without blowing up monthly payments.

Against that backdrop,the Federal Housing Finance Agency announced that the government‑sponsored enterprises would accept more flexible homeowners insurance structures on loans they bought or guaranteed.

The move effectively reversed recent guidance that has pushed lenders toward full replacement cost coverage on roofs and stricter condo master‑policy deductibles.

Under the changes, Fannie and Freddie would accept actual cash value (ACV) coverage on roofs for single‑family homes and condos,while keeping replacement cost coverage on the rest of the structure.

ACV policies typically carried lower premiums but left homeowners with larger out‑of‑pocket costsafter a major loss, a trade‑off consumer advocates have long warned about.

Condo projects would also see streamlined rules on master‑policy deductibles, a long‑running industry concern as wind and haildeductibles rose and some buildings risk falling out of agency eligibility.

The Mortgage Bankers Association and others have previously urged FHFA to relax its per‑unit deductible capand allow ACV options for older roofs in order to keep projects financeable.

The relief came as originators reported more purchase deals collapsing over insurance sticker shock. “There is no single silver bullet here,” Justin Smith, a senior mortgage banker at Cornerstone Home Lending, said in an earlier Mortgage Professional America interview about climate‑exposed markets.

Steve Marks of Ohana Mortgage Solutions likewisewarned that some condo master‑policy premiums were “doubling or tripling in premium cost,” squeezing buyers and lenders alike.

Property insurance costs for US homeowners withmortgages climbed to a new record in the first half of 2025, according to the latest ICE Mortgage Monitor report.The average annual insurance payment on a mortgaged single-family home jumped 11.3%, or $20 per month, compared to 2024, pushing the typical bill to nearly $2,370.

“Thanks to President Trump’s landslide victory, we are replacing a disruptive and expensive Biden insurance mandate with commonsense policies for today’s market,” FHFA director William J. Pulte said.

“Lower insurance costs and mortgage rates shrink the monthly payment of a new mortgage, giving new homebuyers confidence that they can afford the American dream.”

The policy package also won support on Capitol Hill.

“Imposing higher costs on families and limiting consumer choicewas another outrageous example of big government overreach by the Biden Administration,” senator Eric Schmitt said.
