I've asked Trump voters in my neck of the woods, family friends neighbors. They are tired and some of them say they will not vote again. They want money because Biden sucked all of it out of them. Tom Hanks makes good on a promise to a typewriter shop in Oregon

Two years ago, actor Tom Hanks visited a typewriter shop in Oregon and promised to send the owner a signed typewriter from his own collection. Now, Hanks finally delivered.

Antony Vallopi opened the typewriter shop four years ago and saw success right away.

"Two weeks after I opened, Willamette Week put us in their top 100 best businesses of Portland issue," Antony Vallopi, the owner of Type Space, told KGW.

On the shelf are about 25 or so typewriters to buy, with another 150 being refurbished or fixed, with every piece having written a story.

"It makes my writing more intentional because I don't have cut and paste, delete. I really have to think about what I'm putting down," Vallopi said.

Vallopi's shop attracts all sorts of customers—from collectors, first-time users, young, old, and even those from Hollywood.

In 2023, actor Tom Hanks was in Portland for a book tour, and he stopped by.

"We just talked about typewriters, not much about his movies or things like that," Vallopi said.

Hanks, a typewriter aficionado, stayed about an hour, bought one of the typewriters for his own use, and left.

"On the way out, he said, 'Hey, hey, I'm gonna send you an autographed typewriter out of my collection,'" Vallopi said.

Two years later, after sending Tom's manager a message on another matter, he says they realized they had forgotten as well.

Hanks had sent him a 1955 Rheinmetall typewriter from Germany.

One from Hanks' personal collection, signed by him, as promised.

It's a piece of memorabilia, and a piece of analog history.

"People can come down and type on it. That's great, it's not hands off," Vallopi said.
