Here is a breakdown of how the Fed’s actions create a system where policies benefit financial elites at the expense of everyone else.

Quantitative Easing (QE): Inflating Asset Prices for the Wealthy, Leaving Ordinary Americans Behind

Mechanism: Quantitative Easing (QE) allows the Fed to buy government bonds and mortgage-backed securities, pumping liquidity into financial markets. While QE is meant to lower borrowing costs and stimulate the economy, it disproportionately inflates asset prices. As asset values rise, the wealthiest Americans—who own most stocks and real estate—reap the benefits, while average Americans, with few assets, are left behind.

Evidence: During the 2008–2014 QE period, the S&P 500 rose by 140% [2], while the Case-Shiller Home Price Index surged over 30% [3]. Meanwhile, median wage growth only increased by 11% [4]. The owner of Time magazine called out Vice President Kamala Harris for turning down multiple interview requests with the prominent publication as the campaign for the White House enters the homestretch.

Marc Benioff, who has owned Time since 2018, criticized the Democratic nominee on Sunday while pointing out that ex-President Donald Trump and President Biden — before he dropped out — both sat down for interviews during their campaigns.

“Despite multiple requests, TIME has not been granted an interview with Kamala Harris — unlike every other Presidential candidate,” tweeted Benioff, who is best known as the founder of Salesforce.com.

“We believe in transparency and publish each interview in full. Why isn’t the Vice President engaging with the public on the same level? #TrustMatters #TransparencyMatters #Leadership.”

In a profile of Harris that was published online Friday, a Time reporter noted Trump spoke with Time for 90 minutes during two interviews, and Biden also spoke with the mag for a similar amount of time.

“When she does do interviews, she mostly favors local media, culture podcasts, or friendly talk shows,”writer Charlotte Alter wrote in the piece that also made clear Harris had no interest in speaking with her.

After O’Keefe released the video this week, two Democratic operatives stopped working on the presidential race and both the Democratic Party and Hillary Clinton’s campaign denounced the tactics described in the footage. Both said the activities described never took place.

O’Keefe’s group, Project Veritas, promised to release additional videos ahead of the Nov. 8 election.

Conservative activist James O'Keefe, whose deceptively edited hidden camera videos* have made him a star on the right, is out with a new video targeting National Public Radio executive Ron Schiller - and by extension NPR itself.

The video purports to show Schiller speaking to a pair of men posing as representatives of a phony Muslim group seeking to give $5 million to NPR. The men tell Schiller they are affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood, the Islamist political movement.

It shows Schiller stating that the Republican Party and the Tea Party is "fanatically involved in people's personal lives and very fundamental Christian - and I wouldn't even call it Christian. It's this weird evangelical kind of move."

Who is James O'Keefe, and what's Project Veritas?

A thritysomething conservative provocateur and self-proclaimed "guerilla journalist," O'Keefe has been making undercover sting videos since 2009. That was the year he teamed up with a young conservative activist, Hannah Giles, to make a series of damning videos targeting ACORN, a left-wing organizing group.

O'Keefe and Giles got ACORN workers to advise them "on how to smuggle Salvadoran girls into the country, falsify a loan application to buy a house for use as a brothel and even claim the under-age prostitutes as dependents for tax purposes," according to The New York Times. Critics countered that the videos were selectively edited – an accusation O'Keefe has faced many times since – but ACORN effectively closed up shop soon after.

The sting made O'Keefe an overnight superstar in the burgeoning conservative media, and caught the attention of Andrew Breitbart, who was then one of the most powerful conservative journalists in the country. In 2010, O'Keefe founded Project Veritas, a nonprofit organization he uses to release and promote his videos.

Germany’s flagship airline has been fined $4 million by the U.S. Department of Transportation over allegations it discriminated against a group of Jewish passengers.

The regulator said Tuesday that Lufthansa had prohibited 128 people wearing traditional Orthodox Jewish clothing from boarding for a connecting flight in Germany as they made their way from New York City to Budapest, Hungary, in May 2022.

“Based on the alleged misconduct of some passengers,” DOT said, Lufthansa staff “treated them all as if they were a single group and denied them boarding,” despite many of the passengers not knowing each other nor traveling together.

Some individuals in the group allegedly violated the airline’s mask policy. Video of the incident at the time showed Lufthansa staff telling passengers that “everyone has to pay” for the mistakes of a few, then defining “everyone” as “Jewish coming from JFK.” At the time, German media reported that staff denied boarding to people they determined were Jewish because they were wearing a yarmulke (a Jewish skull cap) or had sidelocks (known as payot in Hebrew).

The penalty is the largest ever issued by the DOT against an airline for a civil rights violation.

ATLANTA (AP) — A Georgia judge has ruled county election officials must certify election results by the deadline set in law and cannot exclude any group of votes from certification even if they suspect error or fraud.

Fulton County Superior Court Judge Robert McBurney ruled that “no election superintendent (or member of a board of elections and registration) may refuse to certify or abstain from certifying election results under any circumstance.” While they have the right to inspect the conduct of an election and to review related documents, he wrote, “any delay in receiving such information is not a basis for refusing to certify the election results or abstaining from doing so.”

Georgia law says county election superintendents, which are multimember boards in most counties, “shall” certify election results by 5 p.m. on the Monday after an election — or the Tuesday if Monday is a holiday as it is this year.

The ruling comes as early voting began Tuesday in Georgia.

Julie Adams, a Republican member of the Fulton County election board, had asked the judge to declare that her duties as an election board member were discretionary and that she is entitled to “full access” to “election materials.”

Long an administrative task that attracted little attention, certification of election results has become politicized since then-President Donald Trump tried to overturn his loss to Democrat Joe Biden in the 2020 general election. Republicans in several swing states, including Adams, refused to certify election results earlier this year and some have sued to keep from being forced to sign off on election results.

Adams' suit, backed by the Trump-aligned America First Policy Institute, argues that county election board members have the discretion to reject certification. COLUMBUS, Ga. — Former President Bill Clinton said as he campaigned for Vice President Kamala Harris on Monday that the election will come down to whether there is a fair and transparent vote tally.

Asked by NBC News what will decide the outcome, Clinton responded, "Who wants it bad enough and whether we can get an honest, open count."

A Clinton aide later said he was referring to various reports of threats and intimidation against election officials.

Clinton has been stumping for Harris in Georgia, where his remarks to voters Sunday raised eyebrows when he discussed immigration.

Trying to argue that Harris is more serious than former President Donald Trump about finding solutions to border issues and immigration, Clinton referred to the killing in February of a 22-year-old Georgia nursing student, Laken Riley, and the man charged in her death, a Venezuelan citizen who entered the U.S. illegally in 2022.

Clinton said that it "probably wouldn't have happened" if migrants "had all been properly vetted."

Trump, who has made immigration the foundation of his re-election bid while casting doubt on election security after his 2020 loss, used Clinton's remarks against the Harris campaign, saying the man accused of killing Riley entered the U.S. days before Harris called the border "secure."

The Harris campaign said Clinton's words were taken out of context. In his full remarks, Clinton said the U.S. needs "vetted" immigrants to do work. He also touched on Trump's successful efforts to sink a bipartisan bill this year that would have beefed up border security.

Clinton is one of the high-profile surrogates, including former President Barack Obama, campaigning for Harris as the race enters its final stretch. A new NBC News poll indicates the contest is a dead heat.

WASHINGTON — Vice President Kamala Harris urged black men to back her presidential candidacy Tuesday by pledging to legalize marijuana — despite overseeing more than 1,900 marijuana convictions as San Francisco district attorney between 2004 and 2011.

Harris, 59, made the statement as she prepared for an afternoon interview with radio host Charlamagne tha God — on whose program she claimed in 2019 she had smoked marijuana in college, inviting allegations of hypocrisy over her prosecutorial record. (How about giving them money to feed their families, now you are telling them to use their money on pot? Sick bitch. There's going to be a lash back from the black community for sure.)

“Kamala Harris will legalize recreational marijuana — breaking down unjust barriers that hold Black men and other Americans back and making sure Black Americans have opportunities to succeed as the marketplace takes shape,” she tweeted ahead of her 5 p.m. interview with Charlamagne.

==Harris, 59, is trying to court younger black men– ahead of the Nov. 5 election as polling suggests that the demographic may be drifting toward former President Donald Trump, potentially tipping the outcome in the Republican’s favor in close swing states.

Trump, 78, also supports marijuana legalization, at least on a state-by-state basis — endorsing Florida’s pending marijuana legalization ballot initiative last month and saying that people should not be jailed for using the drug.

“I believe it is time to end needless arrests and incarcerations of adults for small amounts of marijuana for personal use,” Trump wrote on social media.

“We must also implement smart regulations, while providing access for adults, to safe, tested product. As a Floridian, I will be voting YES on Amendment 3 this November.”

Trump was the second president to preside over state-legal recreational marijuana markets, which were first authorized by ballot initiatives in Colorado and Washington state in 2012, and he did not move to shut down those markets or prosecute businesspeople operating in compliance with local rules.

Federal law still makes possession of marijuana illegal for any reason outside limited research and retiring President Biden, who wrote some of the nation’s toughest federal drug laws as a senator in the 1980s and ’90s, opposes pot legalization.

Trump on his final day in office freed seven inmates serving life in prison for marijuana — two of whom were locked up under the three-strikes system ratified by Biden’s 1994 crime law.
