US lawmaker demands real Ukrainian casualty figures

Congress should know the situation before it continues to fund Kiev’s war effort, a Republican representative has argued

Republican Congressman Thomas Massie has demanded information on Ukraine’s losses in the conflict with Russia as a condition for approving further military assistance to Kiev, and accused US officials of keeping lawmakers in the dark on the issue.

This summer, the Kentucky representative introduced anamendmentto next year’s National Defense Authorization Act,requiring a “report on the casualty and equipment losses for both sides involved in the conflict.” According to the politician, the amendment has been approved by the House and will be reviewed by the Senate.

In an interview on Monday, Massie told the ‘Responsible Statecraft’ online magazine that American security andforeign policy officials have been painstakingly avoiding the topic of casualtiessince the start of the hostilities.

He described howintelligence officials dodged his questionson the issue during a closed briefing earlier this year. “They really didn't have an excuse, other than they weren't really sure, which seems like an incredible lie,” the Republican said.

According to Massie, even House Speaker Mike Johnson does not know the real numbers.

“I think it's obvious that they're just feeding us propaganda in classified settings, and then I think=it's also true that the Speaker himself has been a subject of propaganda and lacks the curiosityto even question the narrative that we're being fed,” he told the magazine.

Washington is “just giving us one side to try and motivate us to keep sending the money and weapons.” According to the congressman, the State Department is “afraid if we got any bit of bad news about how the war was going,that there would be a reluctance from Congress to keep funding it.”

Congress needs to know the full picture, including the “bad news"before making any decisions on supporting Kiev any further, the lawmaker believes.

“If they are worried that knowing this number might diminish the appetite for funding the war, then that’s the main reason that Congress needs to know the casualty numbers,” he said.

Kiev has been reluctant to share any data on its losses in to the conflict. Last week, Ukraine’sVladimir Zelensky accused the Wall Street Journal of lyingwhen the paper claimed that around 80,000 Ukrainian troops have been killed 400,000 more wounded.

In February, Zelensky said 31,000 Ukrainian troops have been killed in two years of fighting. The Washington Post then reportedin April that the Ukrainian leader had “vastly downplayed”the toll.

Russia has previously estimated Ukraine’s losses at around half a million troops. Moscow does not reveal the exact number of its own casualties either, but President Vladimir Putin said in June that the losses were “one to about five” in Russia’s favor.

Alleged UFO Sighting in New York State Claims Craft Flew Near Mid-Hudson Bridge

A resident in the Hudson Valley region of New York claims they saw something very strange flying near a major bridge that they can't quite explain.

But while the person who reported this sighting to an online center for unidentified flying objects says the craft flew in a very unconventional pattern, was it really a UFO that they saw?

Many sightings of so-called UFOs can easily be explained as drones, military planes, communication satellites, or even a meteor burning up in the upper atmosphere.

However, this recent incident near the Hudson River from September 5 has left at least one resident of Poughkeepsie convinced something weird is out there.

This latest sighting comes not long after another strange encounter in Wayne County, that left a resident baffled after what they claim were "beams" being shot out of a hovering object.

A resident of Poughkeepsie filed a report to the National UFO Reporting Center September 12 about an aircraft they saw descending behind the mountains looking west.

The report says the person "was observing the sky from the roof of my apartment building in Poughkeepsie, looking toward the Mid-Hudson bridge".

The report says they spotted a black colored craft that was shaped like a chevron, or this shape…￣V￣.

The resident says they "initially thought it may be a bird or a drone, but was far too large"

They went on to say that "the craft would descend a bit, then "jump" back up a little, then descend a little more, jump up, and descend again until it disappeared behind the mountains."

AI uncovers hidden giant alien-looking figures in mysterious 2,000-year-old Nazca Lines carved into Peru desert

The ancient drawings show abstract shapes that look like humanoid figures, decapitated human heads and a killer shark holding a knife.

In a new study published in the PNAS journal, researchers have revealed how they found the eerie-looking ancient carvings using advanced AI algorithms.

Using machine learning, they trained an AI model to detect the faint outlines of the geoglyphs in the vast stretches of land to find any shapes in the Nazca Desert.

The AI model was able to generate a list of 303 such figures with locations including one space where the Nazca lines have never been spotted before.

And with the advanced technology, scientists were able to get results 20 times quicker than humans, LiveScience reports.

The scientific research was done between Between September 2022 and February 2023 - and experts were able to confirm they were indeed ancient drawings that were never seen before.

Incredible pictures of these eerie carvings show alien-like figures, wild animals including orcas and ancient "ceremonial scenes", the research paper reads.

Many of them are abstract figures that seem to depict distorted forms of human bodies, including a head with spiky hair and another head on a pair of legs.

Researchers have added new lines to the pictures of the figures to emphasize their original shape as some have faded over time due to natural soil erosion.

The team of scientists who found the geoglyphs said: "It took nearly a century to discover a total of 430 figurative Nazca geoglyphs, which offer significant insights into the ancient cultures at the Nazca Pampa.

"We report the deployment of an AI system to the entire Nazca region, a UNESCO World Heritage site, leading to the discovery of 303 new figurative geoglyphs within only six months of field survey."

The huge figures in the Andean desert are thought to have been carved by an ancient Peruvian civilisation 2,000 years ago.

For decades scientists have been trying to work out why they were created.

Some anthropologists think the Nazca lines were designed to please the gods, which the ancient people thought were looking down from the Sky.

They could have been used for ceremonial purposes like the rain dance rituals that are connected to other dessert tribes.

In 2019, a team of scientists proposed that the carvings were made in honour of creatures who were thought to bring rain, as the society would have been highly dependent on rainfall to survive.

Researchers from Hokkaido University in Japan released a paper in the Journal of Archaeological Science: Reports explaining how lots of the previous Nazca Line drawings were incorrectly classified and that some of them represent exotic birds.

The researchers wrote: "The amount of rainfall in the highlands was estimated by observing the migrations of seabirds.

“When seabirds migrate to mountainous regions of the Nazca pampas during November and December, it is expected that rain will fall in the highlands.

On the other hand, if migrating seabirds are not observed, water shortages are feared.”

They concluded that the ancient Peruvian people thought the birds carried the weather with them and brought seawater to the hills and rain from the rainforests.

The carvings could therefore be signs of honouring the birds, worshipping them or hoping for them to come back.

The rapper, whose real name is Curtis James Jackson III, sat down for an interview Saturday morning to discuss his new book "The Accomplice" where he was asked about his stance on the presidential election.

Leaked Documents Reveal US Covert Efforts For Regime Change In Iran

Leaks expose a secret effort by retired National Endowment for Democracy leader Carl Gershman to consolidate war-hungry neoconservative control over Iran’s opposition, while channeling US government funds into his own pet regime change initiatives.

Leaked documents and emails obtained by The Grayzone reveal a seemingly covert effort by American regime change operatives to impose radical leadership on the remnants of Iran’s protest movement against the mandatory hijab, in order to topple the government of Iran.

The initiative was spearheaded by Carl Gershman, the longtime director of the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), a US government-funded non-profit which advances regime change operations across the globe. Originally conceived by the Reagan administration’s CIA, the NED has meddled in elections and sponsored coup leaders from Nicaragua to Venezuela to Hong Kong, and beyond.

The leaks reveal how Gershman privately plotted to channel US State Department resources into the construction of an “Iran Freedom Coalition” composed of pro-Western Iranian activists and US neoconservative operatives who clamor for an American military assault on Iran.

While aiming to “mobilize international support” for the Women, Life, Freedom Movement, “and to do what is possible to aid [their] struggle,” the Freedom Coalition represents a clear attempt to impose an exiled leadership over the grassroots Iranian opposition which is directed and sponsored by the most belligerent elements in Washington.

Attempts by The Grayzone to reach several members of the Coalition for comment were unsuccessful. We were therefore unable to determine if those listed by Gershman had explicitly committed to participating, or had been named by the NED veteran as prospective leaders.

Regardless of the listed members’ level of participation, the composition of Gershman’s proposed Iran Freedom Coalition demonstrates how Iran’s self-proclaimed pro-democracy movement has become a plaything for the Bomb Iran lobby. Among those handpicked by Gershman to lead the initiative was William Kristol, the neocon impresario who has led a decades-long lobbying campaign for a US military invasion of Iran. Also selected was Joshua Muravchik, a flamboyant supporter of Israel’s Likud Party who insists that “war with Iran is probably our best option”

The Freedom Coalition’s Iranian members consist heavily of US government-sponsored cultural figures and staffers at interventionist Western think tanks like the Tony Blair Institute. While these figures are quoted in Western media as the leaders of Iran’s “freedom” struggle, their involvement in US government-backed campaigns like the one conceived by Gershman reveals them as little more than Persian front people for Washington warmongers.

Protests erupted in Iranian cities in September 2022 after the death of a young Iranian woman named Mahsa Amini, who was briefly taken into police custody in Tehran after violating moral codes mandating that women wear a hijab. The movement attracted the zealous support of Western governments, celebrities and feminist NGOs, which cheered it on even after it fizzled out in the streets.

Streaming, artificial intelligence, and ongoing strikes in Hollywood are decimating the media and film industry. Hundreds of journalists have already been laid off this year by corporate media companies. Significant cuts were seen at the Los Angeles Times, which reduced its newsroom staff by more than 20 percent in January.

Time magazine followed, laying off 15 percent of its workforce. Numerous other media entities have also witnessed significant staff reductions. Over the last twelve months, an estimated 500 journalist positions have been eliminated.

Kamala Harris Is Trying to Run From Her Prosecutorial Record

The truth is that Harris’ record shows that she is soft on crime and committed to coddling criminals at the expense of victims and our communities. Consider two cases from her time as San Francisco’s district attorney.

Harris refused to seek the death penalty against a man suspected of being a gang member, Edwin Ramos, who shot and killed a father and his two sons, even though California allows the state to seek the death penalty for multiple murders by the same person. Not only did Ramos kill three innocent people, but he also had previously been charged with robbing a pregnant woman.

In a different case, when a gang member killed San Francisco police Officer Isaac Espinoza and wounded his partner, Harris again refused to seek the death penalty.

At the time, this was considered radical even by liberal Democrats.

U.S. Sens. Dianne Feinstein and Barbara Boxer called for the death penalty, and then-California Attorney General Bill Lockyer threatened to take the case away from Harris, saying at the officer’s funeral, “If you make charging decisions based on personal philosophy, not on facts, I will take the case away from you.”

On top of her radicalism, as district attorney, Harris also demonstrated gross incompetence. For example, she didn’t disclose exculpatory evidence to defense attorneys about an unethical police expert, resulting in more than 600 cases being dismissed. And later on, as state attorney general, she was excoriated by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit for using a falsified confession.

Harris has also flip-flopped on whether police provide public safety. She wrote in her 2009 book, “Smart on Crime,” that having more police on the streets helps public safety. This, of course, is correct.

But more recently, as political winds in the Democratic Party have shifted against policing and prosecution, Harris told ABC’s George Stephanopoulos that the idea that “the best way to achieve more safety is to put more police on the streets (is) just wrong.”

And she backed up this change of heart by applauding then-Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti’s decision to cut $150 million from the city’s Police Department budget.

The corruption of our pop culture is linked to the corruption of our politics, which is leading us into tyranny.

Last week, Sean “P. Diddy” Combs, the rapper and music producer, was arrested and charged with sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion; racketeering conspiracy; and transportation to engage in prostitution.

As many have pointed out since his homes were raided back in March, the allegations against Combs echo the disturbing pattern of Jeffrey Epstein’s criminal activities. The individuals connected to Combs and Epstein are influential figures in government, media, and entertainment. They shape our culture, and their moral corruption matters because it seeps into the very fabric of our society.

Combs allegedly orchestrated what he called “freak offs” — drug-fueled orgies where he coerced participants through threats of violence and reportedly filmed these encounters to blackmail his victims into silence. The allegations — trafficking, abuse, coercion, drugging, and non-consensual filming — are eerily similar to the Epstein case.

Moreover, like Epstein, It took years of abuse and a mountain of accusations before law enforcement finally stepped in. Combs, who is now on “suicide watch,” is being charged in the notoriously corrupt Southern District of New York, the same jurisdiction that prosecuted Epstein’s case.

Unlike Epstein, Combs is not being charged with child sexual abuse, although he has been accused of raping a minor. However, like with Epstein, Combs is the only person who has been charged so far. But other than his staff who helped facilitate the “freak offs,” it’s highly unlikely Combs is the sole prominent figure involved.

What other celebrities and music executives were in on it? Certainly many of them must have known what was happening. Beyonce, Jay Z, Jennifer Lopez (Combs’ ex-girlfriend), Leonardo DiCaprio, LeBron James, and the Kardashians, among many others have all attended his parties. Some may have been victims, others complicit. Combs’ close friend Usher suspiciously deleted all his tweets after the indictment was unsealed (although he has since claimed he was “hacked.”) Why?

Connections between these elites run deep. Not just in entertainment but politics as well. Combs’ former bodyguard Gene Deal reportedly said that Combs kept tapes of politicians taking part in his infamous “freak off” sessions. Deal also claimed Combs’ arrest is tied to the alleged corruption scandal currently gripping New York City politics. Over the last few weeks, a slew of New York City officials, including the NYC police department commissioner and the chief legal counsel to the city, have resigned in the midst of a secretive federal investigation.

Combs certainly had cozy relationships with numerous politicians, such as Barack Obama. Chrissy Teigen’s resurfaced interview, where she admits to public sex with her husband, John Legend, at “the Obama thing,” has only added to the suspicions about these celebrity-political networks.

For decades, sex trafficking among our cultural and political elite has been dismissed as a “conspiracy theory,” and victims have been gaslit, ridiculed, and silenced for speaking out. Those who dares discuss it are smeared as chronically online paranoid freaks. Yet so many of these allegations end up being true.
