Poland is on the verge of removing nearly 40 percent of its Supreme Court judges, as a new law, which requires judges to retire at the age of 65 and also expands the Supreme Court significantly, is set to comes into force.
The law, introduced earlier this year by the governing Law and Justice Party (PiS), would not only force the instant dismissal of 27 of the 74 judges, but would also expand the court to 120 judges. In effect, this would give PiS power to reshape two-thirds of the country’s Supreme Court.
The Polish government has insisted that its changes seek to reform a corrupt and inefficient system, with judges that date back to the Communist era. Supreme Court judges, however, say that it signals Poland’s slow descent into authoritarianism.
“I don’t want to say that I am terrified,” Supreme Court Judge Malgorzata Gersdorf told The New York Times. “But without a doubt this is not a direction I would like to go in…I think it destroys what has been built over the last 25 years.”
The European Union has accused the Polish government of enacting laws that “interfere significantly” in the judiciary, and has given it one month to answer its concerns. If the EU finds that Poland is in breach of EU law, then it could impose daily fines on the country.
“These measures undermine the principle of judicial independence, including the irremovability of judges,” the European Commission said in a press release on Monday. “Thereby Poland fails to fulfill its obligations under Article 19(1) of the Treaty on European Union read in connection with Article 47 of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union.”
In December, the EU also imposed unprecedented disciplinary measures on Poland for other judicial reforms carried out by the PiS, including the power of the president to prolong the mandate of Supreme Court Justices. The Polish government also plans to introduce a “disciplinary chamber,” which will allow the government to re-open any case in the past 20 years and have it reviewed by new, government-friendly judges.
The judicial reforms are just the latest examples of Poland’s worrying slide towards far-right authoritarianism. Under party head Jarosław Kaczyński and Prime Minister Beata Szydło, PiS has moved not only to consolidate control over the judiciary but the media as well. The party also tried to institute a near-total ban on abortion, but that failed after thousands took the streets in opposition — although PiS did curtail access to emergency contraception.
The far-right stance of PiS has also made it extremely popular with white supremacists. In November, more than 60,000 people gathered, including racists from Slovakia, Hungary, and Spain, for a far-right march with messages like “Europe Will Be White” and “Clean Blood.”

this article outlines the latest plan - to win back the white house AND the Senate AND the House in 2020 - THEN to expand the SCOTUS with more judges appt. by the new liberal POTUS to negate our winnings. Quite a plot!
anons may not recall that in 1937, President FDR tired to do just that. He proposed to expand the Supreme Court to as many as 15 judges to "make it more efficient". Critics immediately charged that Roosevelt was trying to “pack” the court and thus neutralize Supreme Court justices hostile to his New Deal. The idea failed but FDR eventually packed the 9 judge court - and caused many of today's problems
But this libtard plot got me thinking about the idea so i dug a bit and this is what i found. first the USA Today writer actually rejects this FDR idea because he recognized that this would give R's a massive issue to campaign on - and that it could backfire exactly like the Harry Reid nuclear option did.
Yet he goes on to point out that leaving the most important and divisive issues to a panel of 9 unelected judges is also a problem. And he is correct - how many times have we heard this complaint? Many times.
OK so what to do? significantly - the constitution does NOT specific 9 justices or any number. Congress decides how many. So it would ony be a matter of federal legislation to increase the number. I for one think that is an excellent idea - so that the bulk of cases could be decided by a smaller panel - say 3 justices - just like the appellate courts. Then the full panel for cases of more public import. This would effectively dilute the vote/power of each individual justice - which is a good thing.
In fact believe the reason congress has not done this is entirely deepstate - it is easier to manipultate and control a group of 9 than a larger group - and we have all seen the results of this - quite a dismal record.
then on to the 2nd big question - how many and how appointed? Here the USA Today writer blunders. He suggests keeping the nine appointed by the president, and add one from each state, to be appointed by governors, and then confirmed by the Senate.
This actually would be a major BOON to us anons - because there are more red states and we would dominate SCOTUS forever. But the writers idea has a fatal flaw - Under the Consitution ONLY POTUS may appoint SCOTUS justices (confirmed by the Senate) This duty and authority CANNOT be delegated by POTUS. Already SCOTUS cases are clear on this.
But I think the idea to turn to the states for one pick each is very good and politically feasible - So to fix the flaw the law would simply need to include a provision for states to nominate a candidate but only as a request/advice to POTUS - who could accept or reject it.
In this manner I imagine only a handful of state picks would be rejected for good cause. This would mean that the elite/cabal strangle hold on SCOTUS nominees would end and the judicial process with a larger group would be very hard to assail or pervert.

I'm sitting here looking over previous breads and it struck me that you all are pretty damn amazing. I don't produce even a fraction as much as many of you, and nearly every rabbit hole i choose to dig into is empty, but being here and seeing this all unfold from what feels like front row seats has been incredibly therapeutic for me, and no doubt many of you as well.
It feels amazing to have hope again.. I admit I'd thought it was all fucked to hell after that last obamanation of a president, but Donald and Q have really been running them through the ringer, and from my perspective, righting so many of the wrongs that have left many feeling hopeless and helplessly cucked and left out in the cold.
I'm glad I've made it this far. I'm glad that things are finally feeling less wrong like they're heading in the right direction. And that's all well and good, but it's not why I've decided to write this. I am writing this because of the one thing I can't stopped thinking about, and that's all the good men and women of the world who are silenced for speaking out, silenced for trying to stop wrongdoing, and murdered or imprisoned in the name of oppression and evil.
The sad thing is, that's not even the worst of it. The worst of it, as I'm sure everyone has figured out by now is the insane number of children who go missing every year and are never recovered. That's a number that probably no one knows, but a good estimate is probably more than 1,000,000 children every year, globally. pic related.
Think about that for a minute and let it sink in. Take a moment today and thank god for what is happening right now, and have a moment of silence in remembrance of the children.. but don't let it spoil your holiday. If you feel anything at all, then use it to strengthen your resolve to step up and do something about it.
Keep on informing the uninformed, and spreading awareness, because it's not over yet. Our last president, usurper in chief, cucked our entire nation in favor of a global cabal that literally feeds on many, if not all, of those children in some way or another. Clearly he's not responsible for starting the problem, but it's sure as hell something he wants to continue and we cannot have that, and I hope to god that POTUS and Q have an Independence Day surprise for us, an unveiling, if you will, of the plan to free us from these sick fucks and save the children.. That would be glorious.

A continuation of an earlier attack by them, they are trying to get Jim Jordan. He is too strong for (((them))).
Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), part of the Freedom Caucus leadership who has risen to a position of influence with leadership, is being accused of turning a blind eye to sexual abuse of college wrestlers by the team doctor when he was a coach at Ohio State two decades ago.
This spring, the university began an investigation into accusations against Dr. Richard Strauss, who died in 2005. The wrestlers and other team staff say that Strauss abused team members over two decades, overlapping Jordan's tenure there as assistant wrestling coach from the mid-80s until 1994. Jordan "has repeatedly said he knew nothing of the abuse until former students began speaking out this spring." People who were there at the time call bullshit on that, including wrestlers who say they told Jordan directly, at the time, about the abuse which included showering with them and inappropriately touching them in examinations.
Former head coach Russ Hellickson, Jordan's mentor, said in a recent video—made by Mike DiSabato, a former wrestler—that Hellickson had told Strauss that he was being too "hands on" with students.
DiSabato, whose allegations against Strauss prompted Ohio State to open its investigation, called Jordan a "liar."
"I considered Jim Jordan a friend," DiSabato said. "But at the end of the day, he is absolutely lying if he says he doesn't know what was going on."
DiSabato said he reached out to Jordan this year, before going to the university, to tell Jordan that he planned to go public with his allegations. Jordan told him to "please leave me out of it," DiSabato said. "He asked me not to get him involved."
Jordan's protestations of ignorance would be completely believable if they were about politics or policy—he's a Freedom Caucus guy, after all. But in this case, it sure looks like he's flat out lying.

Those documents are stamped as files found in the LBJ Library at the National Archives and Records Administration. These include documents on the negotiating history the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons and its opening for signature on July 1, 1968. Any additional information about these holdings should be directed to the Library.
