Even as vaccine passports and masks mandates are lifted across the country, most Canadians say they don’t think the pandemic will ever end, according to in-house research by the Department of Health.

According to Blacklock’s Reporter, the Department of Health conducted a study titled, Covid-19 Tracking Survey On Canadians’ Views, to gauge the public’s “perceptions, knowledge and behaviour relating to Covid.”

According to the study, 60% of Canadians said they were worried “that we will never really end the pandemic.” 62% of respondents were among Canadians under the age of 35. Only 22% of respondents believe they will return to pre-pandemic times.

The study revealed that many Canadians were unable to overcome the fears associated with the virus and public health restrictions. Continue…

Civil liberties group challenging Nova Scotia’s ban on COVID protests

The Canadian Civil Liberties Association (CCLA) is taking the Nova Scotia government to court over an order that banned protests against lockdowns and public health restrictions.

The civil liberties group is before the Nova Scotia Court of Appeal today to appeal a court order that granted the provincial government the power to prevent a protest from occurring during a wave of COVID.

In May 2021, a Nova Scotia Supreme Court judge granted the provincial government an injunction to stop Canadians from protesting.

According to Justice Scott Norton, the injunction also prohibited organizers from promoting rallies on social media and allowed authorities to arrest anyone who fails to follow the ruling.

The injunction was eventually rescinded when the government decided it was no longer needed.

This is the second time the CCLA has attempted to appeal the court order. In June 2021, Justice James Chipman refused to hear the challenge and ruled that a challenge to the original court order was unnecessary because the injunction had been lifted.

Despite the injunction being lifted, the CCLA says it is taking the Nova Scotia government to court to protect the rights of Canadians to protest. Continue…

EXCLUSIVE: 32,000 travellers from mainland China arrived on hundreds of flights over four weeks in early 2020

The documents, obtained through an exclusive access to information request filed in 2020, note that the in-bound flights were primarily aboard Chinese airlines.

After two years of delays, Transport Canada finally coughed up data about travellers from China at the beginning of the pandemic.

The new data, recently obtained by Rebel News through access to information filings, shows that over 32,000 travellers from China were admitted into Canada over the four weeks beginning February 13, 2020.

The weekly breakdown of the traveller data shows:

413 arrivals from mainland China between February 13 and February 20, 2020

7,621 arrivals on 29 flights between February 21 and 27, 2020

8,987 travellers on 33 flights between February 28 and March 5, 2020

9,394 travellers on 35 flights between March 6 and March 12, 2020

In total, that's 32,415 arrivals from mainland China landed in Canadian airports over 28 days.

The documents note that the in-bound flights were primarily aboard Chinese airlines after Air Canada suspended flights to and from China at the end of January 2020.

Canadians whose bank accounts were unjustly frozen by the feds may receive compensation

Banks froze accounts beyond what the government demanded. Some Canadians may be compensated as a result.

anadians who had their bank accounts wrongly frozen may be compensated by the federal government due to the stipulations of the Emergencies Act that Prime Minister Trudeau used to squash the peaceful anti-COVID mandate protests initiated by the Freedom Convoy.

Blacklock’s Reporter reported on April 7 that Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland said that her department was not aware of any account holders who were blacklisted “wrongly.”

“The government is not aware of anyone who suffered losses due to accounts being wrongly frozen,” Freeland wrote in an Inquiry Of Ministry tabled in the Commons. However, some banks that were frozen were not those ordered to be closed by the government.

Canadian banks went beyond the list of Convoy supporters that the RCMP provided for them and froze a number of accounts at their own discretion.

The police blacklist contained names from vehicles “that were actively” participating in the Freedom Convoy, but the owner and operators were not all identified.

In March, the Canadian Bankers Association told Members of Parliament that additional accounts were frozen based on the banks’ own “risk based” reviews.

As the Canadian government has moved from sanctioning its own citizens to sanctioning Russia, the feds are currently undergoing a lengthy review process that is part of the Emergencies Act legislation. In addition, the government is being sued for actions that both commentators on the left and the right have categorized as dubious if not illegal.

Most bank accounts were swiftly unfrozen after Trudeau dropped the heavy handed measure as it looked like it wouldn’t pass a Senate review.

Section 48 of the Emergencies Act says that “reasonable compensation” may be awarded “to any person who suffers loss” as a result of unjust actions by the government.

David Westlake is an unbelievably lucky man who still wonders what saved him when two Mounties mistook him for a killer and opened fire.

On the morning of April 19, 2020, the emergency management coordinator was at the firehall in Onslow, N.S., as the fire chief was welcoming people evacuated from nearby Portapique, N.S., where a gunman had killed 13 people the night before.

At the time, the killer was still at large and his rampage wasn’t over. He would kill a total of 22 people before being shot by police later that day.

At 10:17 a.m., as Westlake was chatting with an RCMP officer parked in front of the building, he watched in disbelief as a car screeched to a halt about 80 metres away and two men emerged with rifles. As both took aim at him, he made a dash for the firehall.

“I remember a shot that sounded like a sonic boom and then another one that was really loud, and I’m moving at this time,” Westlake told a public inquiry investigating the worst mass shooting in modern Canadian history.

The two shooters were RCMP officers who mistakenly assumed Westlake was the killer, mainly because he was wearing a yellow-and-orange reflective vest that matched the police description of what the suspect was wearing.

Weekend of Protests in Vancouver Highlight Range of Issues

ANCOUVER—From condemning pipelines, to denouncing legacy media, to shutting down Vancouver’s busiest highway over old growth logging, to protesting a TED Talks conference featuring Bill Gates, hundreds of activists rallied for a variety of causes in Vancouver this past weekend.

On April 8, members of Save Old Growth interrupted rush hour traffic on Vancouver’s North Shore when dozens of protesters blocked the Trans-Canada Highway in both directions for more than an hour.

The group wants the provincial government to end logging in all of B.C.’s old growth forests and has escalated its civil disobedience to get the government’s attention.

“Doing marches, petitions, and rallies, this traditional activism that’s dominated in politics just hasn’t worked,” Save Old Growth co-founder Zain Haq said in an interview with The Epoch Times.

“What we’re doing now is causing disruption and we’re breaking the law, and we are getting arrested on purpose in large numbers in order to bring attention to this issue. We know that historically you really need to disrupt the public, and that means usually for a while you’re really hated by the public. But because you’re objectively right, the public will eventually come on board.”

Save Old Growth also had one member begin a hunger strike on March 25 and was joined on April 1 by six more with a demand to meet with Katrine Conroy, BC’s minister of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development, to discuss the issue. Conroy has not met with them so far.

On April 10, the You Are Not Welcome Here protest was held outside the Vancouver Convention Centre where Vancouver’s annual Ted Talks conference is taking place. The rally targeted Bill Gates, one of the scheduled speakers for the five-day conference, because of what detractors claim are his controversial ties to vaccines and their development, including the current COVID-19 vaccines.

Vaccine Choice Canada founder Ted Kuntz spoke at the rally, highlighting his thoughts on the rollout of the vaccines and the government-imposed restrictions which accompanied them.

“These last two years are going to be looked at as the dark ages, when evil, darkness, greed, deception, distortion, and coercion took over,” Kuntz said.

Dr. Daniel Nagase, who has been active challenging Alberta Health Services on their cutbacks to rural communities while opposing mandatory COVID-19 vaccination, implored law enforcement to honour their oath and not allow government to repeat police crackdowns like the one in Ottawa against the Freedom Convoy.

A day earlier on April 9, the latest Media Is The Virus protest happened on Robson Street outside the CTV headquarters. Organizers have held rallies outside the studios of several media buildings in recent weeks against what they say is biased and inflammatory reporting. Co-organizer James Davison said flattering coverage of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was what prompted him to protest.

“It’s my belief that Justin Trudeau’s main goal is to turn Canada into a communist country,” Davison said to the crowd. “So it’s up to us as Canadian citizens to stand in front of that and I hope we can do it. I mean, at what point in time do you have to say to yourself that they’ve overreached to the point where your livelihood is no longer yours to control?” Continue…

Canada Announces Additional $100M for Ukraine as Part of Global Drive

Canada will provide an additional $100 million in humanitarian aid for Ukraine as part of a global pledging drive that it convened with the European Commission.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made the announcement during the Stand Up For Ukraine event that took place in Poland over the weekend. Trudeau co-hosted the event via video link with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, where he accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of deliberately targeting civilians in Russia’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine.

“We need to respect and understand that the focus that Putin has had on impacting civilian infrastructure, whether it’s [targeting] the train station we saw recently, whether it’s civilians in Bucha, or whether it’s maternity wards or hospitals, there is a deliberate attempt to cause as much long-term damage as possible to the Ukrainian people,” he said on April 9.

The event raised $12.4 billion from participating countries in support of Ukraine. The latest humanitarian aid pledge from Canada brings the amount provided to Ukraine since January to $245 million.

The $100 million does not appear in the government’s 2022 budget, which announced other measures to support Ukraine such as providing up to $1 billion in new loan resources and $500 million for military aid. Continue…

A snowstorm that is approaching southern Manitoba this week may be the worst blizzard in decades, and would likely cause extended power outage in some areas, Environment Canada says.

The agency issued a winter storm watch on April 11, warning about storms coming to several southern Manitoba regions, including Winnipeg, Brandon, Selkirk, and Portage la Prairie.

The weather alert says the major storm will hit southern Manitoba and southeastern Saskatchewan mid-week, bringing snowfalls of 30-50 cm, strong winds gusting up to 70-90 km/h, and “zero visibility” at times.

The agency says the blizzard is caused by a Colorado low moving towards Minnesota on the night of April 12. Snow will likely start early that evening near the international border and push northward throughout the night. Continue…

Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada says the food industry is making adjustments to maintain supplies of poultry and eggs in the face of a large outbreak of avian flu in Canada and around the world.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency says this has been an unprecedented year globally for avian flu, or bird flu as it’s also known.

Outbreaks of the highly pathogenetic strain H5N1 have been detected in Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario and Alberta since late 2021.

So far about 260,000 birds have been euthanized or killed by the virus in Canada.

Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada says there are lots of factors driving up the cost of food so it’s difficult to find a direct link between high costs for eggs and poultry and the virus, but the agency is watching closely.

No human cases have been detected in Canada, and avian influenza is not a significant public health concern for healthy people who are not in regular contact with infected birds.

RCMP Officer Killed in Nova Scotia’s Mass Shooting Died in Exchange of Gunfire

An RCMP officer who was killed in Nova Scotia’s 2020 mass shooting was racing to support another officer when the fatal encounter with the gunman occurred near a highway interchange.

New documents tabled at the public inquiry into the killings show Const. Heidi Stevenson died following a frantic exchange of gunfire with the killer, who had jumped a lane of traffic in his replica police vehicle in order to drive the wrong way down a highway ramp and slam into the Mountie’s cruiser.

The incident took place on April 19, 2020, near Shubenacadie, N.S., the morning after the killer—disguised as an RCMP officer—murdered 13 people in the tiny rural community of Portapique, N.S. He would kill another nine people, including Stevenson and motorist Joseph Webber, before he was killed by police at a gas station outside of Halifax.

According to a foundational document released by the inquiry, Stevenson was responding to a potential sighting of the gunman’s replica vehicle near RCMP Const. Chad Morrison. Morrison was on alert after RCMP dispatch had broadcast the possible sighting at around 10:44 a.m.

Shortly after, he noticed a Ford Taurus police vehicle travelling towards him “a couple of hundred metres back.” Morrison radioed for identification and Stevenson replied “that’s me.”

After pulling a gentle U-turn, Morrison pulled over near a stop sign on Gays River Road at the intersection with Highway 2.

However, it soon became apparent the approaching vehicle wasn’t Stevenson’s when Morrison noticed a black push bar on the front of the car, a feature that Stevenson’s car did not have.

But he still didn’t know it was killer Gabriel Wortman who was driving until the fugitive pulled up alongside and began firing shots through the driver-side window. Morrison heard at least three or four shots, screamed and hit the gas.

“Glass was breaking and I was hearing things go off and I felt, um, something in my chest and I felt like, things happening in my arms and I know I had this gash on my face,” he told investigators.

As Morrison sped off to get medical assistance, he radioed, “I’m shot. I’m shot. Southbound on Number 2. Southbound on 2 taking the Shubie. I’m shot.”

“It’s the suspect vehicle. It’s him,” he added.

Stevenson heard Morrison’s radio message and she continued to his last known position. The collision with Wortman occurred at 10:49 a.m. Continue…

Vancouver is considering raising property taxes on residents to restore $5.7 million in funding to the municipal police force after councillors gave in to demands to defund the Vancouver Police Department (VPD) in 2020.

Last month, British Columbia’s provincial government overturned the city’s police budget and demanded that Vancouver restore millions in funding to the VPD, citing a lack of police officers to deal with violent crime and to ensure public safety.

“The shortfall had a direct impact on the number of police officers the VPD was able to hire to meet the city’s complex policing needs,” said VPD Chief Adam Palmer. “Vancouver has been gripped by an abundance of public safety challenges, including the ongoing Lower Mainland gang conflict, a surge in violent street crime, nearly 1,000 protests, concerning levels of hate crime, and a growing number of people who tell us they just don’t feel as safe as they used to.” Continue…

A human rights coalition is asking a federal body to investigate 14 Canadian companies accused of selling products made with forced labour in China.

Twenty-eight advocacy groups filed a complaint on Sunday with the Canadian Ombudsman for Responsible Enterprise, which is tasked with looking into allegations of human-rights abuses by Canadian corporations operating abroad.

Its mandate includes investigating businesses in the mining, petroleum and garment industry. The companies named in the complaint were Costco Canada, Gap Canada Inc., Hugo Boss Canada Inc., Nike Canada, Ralph Lauren Canada LP, Zara Canada Inc., Diesel Canada Inc., Guess? Canada Corporation, Levi Strauss & Co Canada Inc., Walmart Canada Corp., Lululemon Canada, Amazon Canada, Dynasty Gold Corp. and GobiMin Inc.

The 28 groups involved in the complaint include the Uyghur Rights Advocacy Project, the Toronto Association for Democracy in China and the Canadian Council of Imams, among others. Continue…

Canada’s military has reportedly provided combat training to members of Ukraine’s neo-Nazi Azov regiment, contrary to stated policy and despite previous denials of any official relations between Ottawa and the notorious militia.

The apparent connection came to light in photos posted on social media by the Ukrainian National Guard, according to a report on Monday by Radio-Canada. The pictures show soldiers wearing Azov Battalion patches on their uniforms while participating in training with Canadian forces.

“According to Oleksiy Kuzmenko, a journalist specializing in the Ukrainian far right, the presence of these patches strongly suggests that the Azov regiment had access to Canadian military training,” Radio-Canada said in its report. The patches display a crest that is “firmly and exclusively associated with the Azov regiment,” Kuzmenko told the media outlet.

Adrien Nonjon, who researches Ukrainian nationalism at the National Institute of Oriental Languages and Civilizations, agreed. “I can assure you with absolute certainty that this is an Azov crest,” he said.

Another picture taken during the same training program shows a Ukrainian soldier wearing a patch associated with the 14th Waffen-SS Grenadier Division, which Adolf Hitler’s regime created in 1943 to fight the Soviet Union’s Red Army with Ukrainian Nazi collaborators. The ‘work of decolonization,’ Indigenous Affairs Minister Patty Hajdu said, ‘needs our steady and unwavering commitment.’

In a meeting held in late March, Canada’s Indigenous Affairs Minister Patty Hajdu claimed that the “impacts” from the “colonization” of the nation, which was mainly done by European settlers, are a “stark” reminder of the work that needs to be done to decolonize the country.

“Each of these days serves as a stark reminder of the impacts of colonization, stark inequities, and trauma,” said Hajdu during a March 25 meeting of the Standing Committee on Indigenous and Northern Affairs.

Hajdu declared that the impacts of colonization “continue to have such a significant impact on First Nations, Inuit, and Metis communities across the country.”

Hajdu then said that the “work of decolonization and self determination needs our steady and unwavering commitment, clear focus of equity funding and opportunity, and a shared vision of a healthy future for everyone in the country.”

She then said that Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau “has been very clear that working toward reconciliation requires the commitment of all cabinet ministers.”

The notion of the decolonization of Canada’s Christian European roots has been heavily promoted by the mainstream media, notably after the discovery of reported unmarked graves at now-closed residential schools once run by the Church in parts of Canada in the spring of last year.

The findings led to nearly 100 churches, most of them Catholic, either being burned or vandalized.

Trudeau himself last year waited weeks before acknowledging the church vandalism, and when he did speak, he said it is “understandable” that churches have been burned, also saying it is “unacceptable and wrong.”  He later also demanded that Pope Francis apologize for the Church’s role in the Canadian government’s residential school system.

In early July, Gerald Butts, a former adviser and close friend to Trudeau, was called out for saying the recent rash of arson and vandalism attacks on mostly Catholic churches is “understandable.”

A departmental corporation of the government of Canada gave millions of dollars in grants to universities and other organizations to create programs to “encourage” people to take the experimental COVID vaccines. Some of the programs that received funding were geared toward promoting the COVID jabs to kids and pregnant/breastfeeding mothers.

Last July, the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) officially announced $2.2 million in grants to 48 organizations, claiming the funding “will allow the organizations to mobilize knowledge to improve public understanding of vaccines and help people make evidence-based decisions, especially among populations that are hesitant about vaccines.”

The purpose of the grants, which each total around $50,000, was “to support activities that promote vaccine confidence in Canada.”

The grants went to universities along with other organizations and were jointly funded through NSERC, which itself gave $1 million. The Canadian Institutes of Health Research contributed $750,000, and Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council gave $500,000 in funding.

In February 2021, NSERC announced that they would give the money to non-profit organizations to “improve public understanding of vaccines and help Canadians to make evidence-based decisions, especially among populations that are unsure of vaccine safety.”

According to a recent report in the Western Standard, Martin Leroux, NSERC’s senior communications and adviser, said that “complex factors influence the decision to accept vaccines,” adding that some “factors are dependent on science literacy levels and others are personal or societal.” Continue…

Feds report thirty-one criminal gangs have staff in city halls

A new federal intelligence report has revealed that criminal gangs have infiltrated municipal governments and are using public-sector benefits to fund their crimes.

According to Blacklock’s Reporter, Criminal Intelligence Service Canada (CISC) found 31 gangs and other organized crime groups including motorcycle and street gangs had associates working at the city level.

“Thirty-one assessed organized crime groups have access via employment within Canadian public sector agencies or departments,” read a Public Report On Organized Crime In Canada. “Of these 26 percent are mafia groups, ten percent are outlaw motorcycle gangs and six percent are street gangs.”

CISC said it has reason to believe that taxpayer-funded public sector benefits are being funneled into domestic and international criminal activity such as drug and firearm trafficking.

“While infiltration of the public sector seems to occur mostly at the local or regional level organized crime groups may be using the benefits for interprovincial or international criminal activities,” wrote the CISC. “Familial or romantic relationships and monetary benefits appear to be the principal factors motivating corruption and infiltration in the public sector in Canada.” Continue…

CRITICISM OF CANADA’S DIGITAL ID IS DISMISSED AS BASED ON “MISINFORMATION”

There is pushback in Canada against the introduction of digital ID programs – but proponents of these schemes are referring to criticism based on civil liberties and privacy concerns as, “digital ID misinformation.”

Reports to this effect are appearing, spurred by a petition launched by the Ontario Party, that calls for “zero tolerance” toward the implementation of such programs in the province.

At the same time, IdentityNORTH – which says it brings together Canadian and global leaders to discuss “the big ideas and innovations” driving digital transformation – was holding its spring workshop.

The petition, meanwhile, calls on the Legislative Assembly of Ontario to prevent the planned introduction of a comprehensive Digital ID program, that would centralize citizens’ personal, financial, business, medical, and social information, and assign each an ID number.

In view of the fact that Canada’s central banks, and others around the world, plan to also introduce their own digital currencies, these would eventually also become part of digital IDs, the Ontario Party warned.

And that, in turn, spells trouble for civil liberties and privacy rights, creating “clear opportunities” for abuse by the authorities, the party believes.

Surveillance and compelled behavior, the petition reads, “with access to basic resources as a tool of coercion, are ominous. They point toward progression to a dystopian communist Chinese-style ‘social credit’ system.”

Canada is a country that is still smarting from the events earlier in the year, when participants in peaceful protests got punished by the government by having their bank accounts frozen, among other punitive measures.

However, participants in the IdentityNORTH workshop who spoke for local media don’t seem to see any merit in worrying about having information critical for your entire life – and livelihood – accessible and controllable in a single, centralized place.

To them, the problem is in finding and pushing the right message, better educating – and, better persuading – people that there is nothing to fear when it comes to digital IDs.

Citizens are said to be prone to “misunderstanding” what these schemes really are, while the government could assuage their fears by doing things like promising – with a “how we used your information statement, like a bank statement” – that there would be no nefarious data linking and profile building.

“Pushing more (government) digital services online lets people play around online, get used to using an online forum. And then you come in with, ‘Now we can make it more private, secure,’ and this is why you care,” was the idea presented by Colleen Boldon, director of New Brunswick’s digital lab and digital ID programs.

This Is Our Shot further claims that all of the information listed on its website was compiled “by medical professionals and public health experts using Canadian government and other scientific and medical sources.”

But the COVID-19 vaccines approved for use in Canada have all been associated with severe side effects, including blood clots, rashes, miscarriages and heart attacks, especially in young and otherwise healthy men.

The COVID-19 vaccines are also more likely to cause very deadly side effects in children.

The Mayor of Ottawa wants people to be forced to wear masks in a variety of settings even though most mask mandates are gone in Ontario, but the province’s top doc says no need to bring them back.

On April 8, Mayor Jim Watson called on the provincial government to make masks mandatory again in schools, grocery stores, pharmacies, and on public transit. In addition, he is looking to force the issue in the nation’s capital.

Speaking on an Ottawa radio program, he said: “We’ve got to kill this virus once and for all, and we can’t do it if we take away some of the tools…”

It is not clear if Watson believes that a virus can be “killed” as in eradicated, as this would go against the beliefs of even the top doctor of Ontario, Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Kieran Moore – himself no stranger to draconian COVID polices – has made it clear that Ontario has to “live with” COVID.

In light of his desire to “kill” the virus, Watson also said that he thinks the province “has to really rethink their mask mandate.”

It turns out the government did think over the mask mandate since it was dropped on March 21.

Yesterday, Moore addressed the province for the first time since last month. He insisted that there is no need to reinstitute mask mandates, and repeated what has become common knowledge; namely that the majority of those in hospital “with COVID” are simply patients sick with another illness but who test positive by the often false-positive PCR test.

Moore also addressed pressure from the teachers’ union, which is asking for masks to be forced upon small children again. He reiterated that children are at little to no risk of having illness associated with a COVID diagnoses. “We’ve not seen any significant threat to the health of children,” he added.

He did give his opinion that he would like to see people where masks indoors if they wanted to, but would not mandate them.

Ontario is set to drop all remaining mask mandates – right now relegated to health care and long term care settings mainly – by the end of April.

Canada’s Public Health Agency (PHAC) revealed last week that it is looking at giving its federal quarantine inspectors new police-like powers which would allow them to hand out tickets to COVID rule breakers.

According to Blacklock’s Reporter, the proposal by PHAC is under “initial discussion” and came after its managers protested they were reliant on local law enforcement to give tickets out under Canada’s Quarantine Act.

Jennifer Lutfallah, who serves as the vice president of health security, told a House of Commons public accounts committee last week that “we are looking at mechanisms on how we can enhance our capability of enforcement, which by that I mean ticketing or some other type of monetary mechanisms to ensure compliance.”

Lutfallah said that as PHAC could “not issue contravention tickets across the country,” they are in the “initial discussion phases,” and “assessing all possible options with respect to enforcement.”

Lutfallah said they are potentially looking at giving quarantine officers the power to hand out tickets, much like Canada Border Services Agency and Transport Canada officers are allowed to do relating to enforcing their own rules.

As noted by Blacklock’s Reporter, Dr. Harpreet Kochhar, who serves as the president of PHAC, said to the public accounts committee that inspectors must be “able to enforce the law.”

On March 26, 2020, Canada’s government under Prime Minister Justin Trudeau invoked the Quarantine Act.

Enforcement of the Quarantine Act came under the responsibility of both Canada’s national Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and local police under the Contraventions Act.

The idea of a central bank digital currency raises concerns over the privacy of personal financial transactions, as well as the ability, at least in the future, to use cash as means of payment.

Canada’s 2022 budget, announced last week by Liberal Party Canadian Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland, includes text saying the government will look into the “potential need” for the country to have a type of “central bank digital currency.”

On page 214 of the budget, under chapter nine titled “Tax Fairness and Effective Government,” in the subsection “Addressing the Digitalization of Money,” the text reads that the government will “examine, among other factors: how to adapt the financial sector regulatory framework and toolbox to manage new digitalization risks.”

As part of this, the review will examine how “to maintain the security and stability of the financial system in light of these evolving business models and technological capabilities; and the potential need for a central bank digital currency in Canada.”

Freeland’s budget will also explore, as previously reported by LifeSiteNews, regulating cryptocurrency as well as requiring crowdfunding sites to report “suspicious transactions.”

After Prime Minister Justin Trudeau enacted the Emergencies Act in February to shut down the truckers of the Freedom Convoy, the government froze the personal bank accounts and digital wallets of some Canadians.

The Liberal 2022 budget announced there will be a “legislative review” into the use of cryptocurrencies, with the goal being to implement stricter regulatory measures on crowdfunding sites and payment processors.

The idea of a central bank digital currency raises concerns over the privacy of personal financial transactions, as well as the ability, at least in the future, to use cash as means of payment.

Freeland is a member of the World Economic Forum, which is the group behind the “Great Reset” agenda.

The Great Reset is a radical socialist plan formed at the hands of global elites that “seeks to ‘push the reset button’ on the global economy” and also establish a radical New World Order. Part of this new order includes government-issued or regulated digital currencies.

Canada is not the only country looking into a government-issued digital currency.

U.S. President Joe Biden recently issued an executive order that asked federal agencies to study digital currencies as well as produce reports on their possible use as well as regulation by the federal government.

A digital currency is also being looked at in the United Kingdom, which last summer asked the Bank of England to draw up plans for a digital currency that could be used “alongside” with cash.

Conservative U.K. MP Steve Baker warned, however, that a government-issued digital currently “could enable a dramatic increase in state control of our lives.”

“Canada must not sign away our sovereignty on health care, but that is exactly what some of Canada’s leaders are trying to do. And there is tremendous pressure from around the world to make us do it,” Lewis wrote in a recent message posted to her campaign website.

“The (WHO) treaty includes 190 countries and would be legally binding. The treaty defines and classifies what is considered a pandemic and this could consist of broad classifications, including an increase in cancers, heart conditions, strokes, etc. If a pandemic is declared, the WHO takes over the global health management of the pandemic.”

The International Treaty on Pandemic Prevention, Preparedness, and Response, or what is known as the WHO Pandemic Treaty, is due to be signed in May 2024 by many world governments.

This past December, the WHO’s World Health Assembly agreed “to kick-start a global process to draft and negotiate a convention, agreement or other international instrument under the Constitution of the World Health Organization to strengthen pandemic prevention, preparedness and response.”

The group will meet again on August 1 to draft the exact wording of the treaty, which will legally bind signatory nations under international law to follow the conventions articles.

According to the WHO, it will hold public hearings to “inform its deliberations” and then deliver a progress report to the 76th World Health Assembly in 2023, and then “submit its outcome for consideration by the 77th World Health Assembly in 2024.”

“Great to welcome Senate Energy Committee Chair Joe Manchin to Alberta for a two-day visit highlighting the critical role we play in North American energy security,” wrote Alberta Premier Jason Kenney on Twitter on April 11.

“Today we’re showing him the oilsands, home of the world’s 3rd largest proven oil reserves.”

The visit from the West Virginia senator comes as inflation continues to climb in the United States and at a time when countries are reassessing energy policies and dilemmas in the context of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

The U.S. Consumer Price Index reached an 8.5 percent increase year-over-year in March, the highest since 1981, driven in part by higher fuel prices.

And countries opposed to Russia but still purchasing large amounts of its hydrocarbons are looking at ways to reduce their consumption or dependency on Russian oil products to further weaken President Vladimir Putin.

Germany, Europe’s biggest economy, gets half its gas from Russia, and the United States imported nearly 700,000 barrels per day of crude oil and refined petroleum products from Russia in 2021.

The Trudeau government invested $20 million dollars of taxpayers’ money in a COVID-19 testing system that didn’t work and was never delivered to Canadians.

Since discovering that the company went bankrupt and is being liquidated, the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) has written off the amount as a loss.

“The company went through insolvency proceedings and is now being liquidated,” wrote PHAC. “By law, once a person or a company is in the insolvency process, no one can sue or attempt any other form of recovery. No litigation is allowed and all procedures go through the Trustee and is a public process.”

In 2020, the Trudeau government jumped to invest millions in Spartan Bioscience, which promised an Ontario-made portable COVID-19 testing cube that allegedly could detect the virus in less than an hour.

Company CEO Dr. Paul Lem was praised by the media and promised the federal government that he could produce 200,000 cubes priced at $8,000 each, plus the $70 cost for each test.

Online video platform Rumble slammed the Globe and Mail on Wednesday, accusing the legacy news outlet of supporting corporate-media-driven public censorship after a Globe journalist asked them why they haven’t blocked or limited Russian content like other sites.

“The Globe and Mail is demanding to know why we aren’t dutifully copying YouTube’s censorship. It is now common that we receive pressure from journalists demanding that we censor more,” Rumble wrote.

Rumble posted two emails to Twitter showing questions sent to them by Globe journalist Joe Castaldo earlier this week. Castaldo had requested comment on why the platform hasn’t limited or blocked content from Russian broadcasters while other sites like YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter have promptly censored Russia Today (RT) shortly after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

The first email writes, “YouTube announced a policy to prohibit content denying, minimizing or trivializing well-documented violent events in connection to Russia’s war in Ukraine.” Castaldo continued, asking, “(d)oes Rumble have any plan to enact policies similar to Youtube to deal with such content?”

In the next email, Castaldo mentioned two sources accusing Rumble of spreading “Kremlin lies and propaganda” and who said that their business model relies on “fringe groups who disseminate conspiracy theories and disinformation under the pretext of freedom of expression.”

He later wrote that he could provide examples of prominent creators such as Stew Peters and Alex Jones having produced videos “mirroring Russian government propaganda.”

Rumble replied with a scathing remark on corporate media and the big tech conglomerates that advocate for public censorship.

“There is a reason the public has radically turned against both the corporate media (such as your outlet) and Big Tech: because you have arrogantly claimed for yourselves the power to decide for the public what information they can and cannot be trusted to hear and what views they can and cannot express,” the platform tweeted.

Canadian Civil Liberties Association challenges Nova Scotia gov’t for banning COVID protests

Authorities were given extraordinary powers to arrest those who did not follow the court order banning COVID protests.

The pro-freedom Canadian Civil Liberties Association (CCLA) was in an appeals court Monday taking on the provincial government of Nova Scotia, which last year banned its residents from protesting against draconian COVID rules.

During an appearance before a Nova Scotia Court of Appeal yesterday, the CCLA appealed a May 2021 Nova Scotia Supreme Court injunction by Justice Scott Norton, which banned anyone from organizing or promoting rallies against COVID rules on social media.

Authorities were given extraordinary powers to arrest those who did not follow the court order.

Norton’s injunction was done ex parte, meaning it was done in secret without opposition government members or anyone else being told about it in advance.

In June 2021, the CCLA had first tried to appeal Norton’s May 2021 injunction but was unsuccessful after a judge refused to hear their challenge as the protest ban had already been lifted.

According to a report in Global News, CCLA lawyer Nasha Nijhawan said that the case against the Nova Scotia government is being “argued on principle” regarding the powers of the government.

Nijhawan said Norton’s order was an infringement of the charter rights of Nova Scotians. She also said that if the province’s attorney general is going to the court “without inviting anyone else to present the other side – with 48 hours’ notice – and [asking] for this extraordinary power,” if they are going to do this again, “we need the courts to know what the rules are.”

CCLA lawyer Benjamin Perryman said that the appeal to the court regarding Norton’s injunction addresses two “separate charter questions.”

The CCLA is asking the court of appeal to “evaluate what was done by Justice Norton and whether there were legal errors that warrant review.”

A written decision is expected to come in a few weeks.

Nova Scotia elected a new Progressive Conservative Premier, Tim Houston, in August 2021.

Despite being from a “conservative” party, during the trucker Freedom Convoy in February 2022, the Nova Scotia government banned gathering alongside highways, and on all roads and streets. This was done to stop people in the province from showing their support to Nova Scotians who were traveling to Ottawa as part of the Freedom Convoy.

Despite the highway protest ban, which in theory could fine individual violators up to $10,000 for each offense, hundreds came out anyway to show their support to the truckers.

Nova Scotia is keeping its mask mandate in public schools in place until at least the May long weekend.

The province announced on April 13 that masking requirements in public schools will stay, which means staff, volunteers, and visitors must continue to wear a mask during school hours and on school buses.

Provincial Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development Becky Druhan said in a statement that the government has worked with public health throughout the pandemic to implement measures that help keep students in school.

Druhan also said the decision to require masks in schools “supports operational considerations and will be reassessed closer to May 20.”

“Students, staff and visitors are also asked to continue to follow core public health measures,” said the government release.

This includes “getting vaccinated if eligible, staying home if feeling unwell, following the COVID-19 daily checklist, and washing and sanitizing hands frequently.”

On March 21, Nova Scotia lifted all its pandemic restrictions except for the wearing of masks and limitations on gathering in public schools, long-term care facilities, and hospitals.

Meanwhile, Quebec has extended its provincial mask mandates from the original April 15 expiration date to at least April 30, as a result of the rapid spread of Omicron subvariant BA.2.

Prince Edward Island, which was set to lift mandatory masking on April 7, has also extended the policy until April 28.

A Quebec duck farm says it has detected a case of avian flu in one of its breeding facilities.

Brome Lake Ducks says in a news release that the highly pathogenic H5N1 strain of avian influenza was confirmed Tuesday on a farm in St-Claude, about 160 kilometres east of Montreal.

The company says it has quarantined the farm as well as another facility in Knowlton, Que., and is working with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency to put biosecurity measures in place.

Quebec’s first bird flu cases were detected in three wild geese earlier this month, and several other provinces have already reported outbreaks in wild and domestic populations.

While most forms of avian flu are mild, H5N1 can cause serious disease and death in birds.

No human cases have been detected in Canada, and the CFIA says avian influenza is not a significant public health concern for healthy people who are not in regular contact with infected birds.

On Thursday it was revealed that Musk made an offer of $54.20 per share in cash, saying he hoped to unlock the “extraordinary potential” of Twitter should he own it. The offer is 38% over the price as of April 1.

The news came shortly after Musk became the largest shareholder of the company earlier this month.

Musk has been an outspoken critic of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Twitter. He has repeatedly tweeted in support of the Freedom Convoy movement and was even forced to take a controversial tweet down which likened the prime minister to Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler.

In the coming years, biodigital technologies could be woven into our lives in the way that digital technologies are now. Biological and digital systems are converging, and could change the way we work, live, and even evolve as a species. More than a technological change, this biodigital convergence may transform the way we understand ourselves and cause us to redefine what we consider human or natural.

Biodigital convergence may profoundly impact our economy, our ecosystems, and our society. Being prepared to support it, while managing its risks with care and sensitivity, will shape the way we navigate social and ethical considerations, as well as guide policy and governance conversations.

Guided by its mandate, Policy Horizons Canada (Policy Horizons) intends to start an informed and meaningful dialogue about plausible futures for biodigital convergence and the policy questions that may arise. In the late 1970s and early 1980s, Canadians and policy makers began to understand that the digital age was upon us. Early movers seized opportunities, grappled with challenges, and initiated deft policies that have provided benefits for decades. We continue to see the powerful effects of digitization, and more are surely to come. But we may be on the cusp of another disruption of similar magnitude. Digital technologies and biological systems are beginning to combine and merge in ways that could be profoundly disruptive to our assumptions about society, the economy, and our bodies. We call this the biodigital convergence.

This paper sets out an initial framing to guide Policy Horizons’ upcoming foresight work.

Trudeau gov’t spends over $200 million in taxpayer money on COVID jabs for poorer nations

Despite being mired in debt, Canada has contributed a total of $700 million to a global-sharing vaccine alliance.

The federal government of Canada under Prime Minister Justin Trudeau recently announced it would give an additional $220 million in taxpayer money so that so-called poorer nations can buy the abortion-tainted and experimental COVID jabs.

The money will go toward the COVAX global-vaccine-sharing alliance and brings the total amount the Trudeau government has contributed to the program to an eye-watering $700 million.

During a recent COVAX virtual summit, Trudeau said that the collective aim must “be to increase access to COVID-19 vaccines and other medical countermeasures so that every country has what it needs to protect its people from this virus.”

Canada under Trudeau had earlier promised the country would donate 200 million doses of the COVID jabs or the money to buy them by the end of 2022.

The COVAX virtual summit saw an additional $2.1 billion raised for jabs from countries attending the event.

The millions given to COVAX from the Trudeau government comes at a time Canadians are dealing with record-level inflation, with a federal government mired in over a trillion dollars of debt.

It also comes at a time when many Canadians are out of work or have lost their businesses due to draconian COVID policies forced upon them by governments.

The World Health Organization (WHO) directs in part the COVAX project. Of note is that WHO is behind a Global “Pandemic Treaty” that would in effect mandate signatory nations to follow by law any future pandemic responses set forth by the WHO.

Conservative MP and leadership candidate Leslyn Lewis recently warned about the dangers of the WHO “Pandemic Treaty.”

Freedom Convoy organizer Tamara Lich hired top Ottawa defense lawyer Lawrence Greenspon hoping to get her bail conditions, which ban her from using social media, reversed.

This past Monday, Lich was in court before Superior Court Justice Robert Pelletier for a review of her bail terms. However, her legal counsel asked the court to allow a change of counsel to Greenspon.

Greenspon is based in Ottawa and also a partner in the Ottawa law firm Greenspon Granger Hill. He is known for tackling high-profile cases.

Lich’s bail conditions ban her from speaking out against the Canadian government’s COVID rules on social media and online and attending any COVID protests.

She also has to reside at her Alberta house as directed by police, must report to them, and is to have no contact with the co-accused.

Lich’s now former legal counsel, the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms (JCCF), said Lich was held in jail on bail because she was a “political prisoner” of Trudeau. Continue…

Briefing notes for Freeland that Rebel News obtained through “Access to Information” filings were provided to Freeland upon her invitation to serve as co-chair of “the fourth meeting of the Global Action Group on the Post COVID-19 World” hosted by the WEF.

The “Run of Show” notes section made clear the meeting was “intended to finalize and agree upon a set of principles for global cooperation created by the WEF.” Freeland was asked to “lead the conversation” on the first of these principles, which was to “strengthen global cooperation.”

While recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic was indicated to be one of the goals of such a global partnership, the document indicates that COVID recovery was considered not just an end in itself but a means toward the WEF’s long-held aims of a more equitable and sustainable world.

Thus, one of the three objectives listed for the meeting was to “Reiterate Canada’s commitment to effective and accountable multilateralism” — that is, an alliance of countries to pursue a common goal — “including as a core element of our collective efforts to combat COVID-19,” that is, not exclusively as a way of fighting COVID-19. Ezra Levant, founder of Canadian media site Rebel News, said he doesn’t want his news organization to be under the “thrall” of Facebook and Google for the same reasons he won’t accept government funding — because media must be independent.

A proposed federal law to force platforms like Facebook and Google to pay Canadian media companies for merely facilitating access to their websites “flips common sense on its head,” says Michael Geist, the Canada Research chair in Internet and E-Commerce Law.

Canadian Heritage Minister Pablo Rodriguez introduced Bill C-18, dubbed the Online News Act, in the House of Commons last week as the federal government’s latest effort to bolster Canada’s struggling news media industry.

The proposal would require sharing platforms, like Facebook, Google, and potentially others, to compensate news organizations for linking to articles and even to their general websites.

But these sharing platforms already provide free value by directing traffic to Canadian media sites, Geist said. They are now being told they must pay for giving those free referrals, he said.

“It doesn’t make a lot of sense,” Geist told the Western Standard.

“The government is somehow taking the position that those links, or even just referrals — not even to a story, but just to the website itself — somehow that merits compensation. And I think that’s one spot where this legislation has just gone terribly off-side.”

Canadian media sites already pay thousands to advertise their work on Facebook.

Facebook’s ad library shows the National Post spent almost $900 on an ad that ran for two days in 2019 . It also estimated that The Toronto Star spent almost $15,000 in one week, April 3-9, on Facebook ads. Continue…

Is it ethical? Ontario's chief medical officer of health also sits on Pfizer's board

In Ontario, one of the key advisers of the vaccine passport policy was Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Kieran Moore.

In a report that I did a few months ago, I found that Moore has a questionable connection to the manufacturer of the very products he was indiscriminately endorsing.

His conflict of interest is with one of the main COVID injectable manufacturers, one of the largest healthcare fraudsters, Pfizer. I wanted to know how Dr. Moore’s own declared conflict of interest as a member on the Lyme Disease (LD) Advisory Board for Pfizer’s North American strategy affected or influenced his ability to provide unbiased, balanced government directives.

How ethical is it that the same doctor who sits on an advisory board for Pfizer was also forcing compliance with their products by way of government directives and requirements? After all, Pfizer subsidiary Valneva is responsible for developing VLA15, which is the only Lyme disease vaccine candidate in clinical development.

Since Dr. Moore did not respond to my email seeking clarification, I had to file an ATIP to find out. You can help support this kind of work here, because we’re appealing what we received back.

The ATIP confirms most of what I already know: there’s a funding agreement between the Canadian Institute of Health Research and the National Research Network for Lyme Disease. They’ve developed the Canadian Lyme Disease Research Network (CLDRN), of which Dr. Moore is principle investigator. The research is done in partnership with the Public Health Agency of Canada and has been allotted a grand total of almost $4,000,000 over five fiscal years. The host institution, also Moore’s employer, Queen’s University in Kingston Ontario, is the receiver of this grant funding.

Many of the listed co-recipients of the grant include COVID hysterics like Dr. Tara Moriarity, who co-founded COVID-19 Resources Canada. Her COVID-related claims have been referred to as “nothing more than misinformation that should be challenged.”

Another fund recipient is Dr. Todd Hatchette. He found that going against manufacturers’ instructions and swabbing your nose and throat with rapid antigen tests swabs increases your likelihood of getting a positive COVID result. His lists Pfizer grants and funding in his declared conflicts of interest with the CLDRN.

Dr. Samir Patel, another fund recipient, has a direct declared conflict.

Dr. Moore did not declare anything related to Pfizer in his conflict of interest attestation. So, what is it? Does he have a conflict of interest with Pfizer, or not?

The GERM team, which would cost $1 billion a year, entails recruiting a team of 3,000 physicians, epidemiologists and policy experts to work with the World Health Organization. GERM Team would be focused solely on pandemic prevention and identifying new pathogens.

“Like firefighters, the GERM team would do drills. When we want to have a quick response, we want to make sure we have all the pieces there and can move very quickly. Practice is key,” Gates said. “We need to know if a lot of people show up with a new kind of cough.

“The mission is to stop outbreaks before they become pandemics,” he continued. “When COVID-19 struck, we were like Rome before it had fire buckets and firefighters.”

Gates comprehensively outlines what GERM entails and his experiences with combatting disease through the Gates Foundation in his new book, “How To Prevent the Next Pandemic, which was distributed at the conference,” Fast Company reports.

The ‘world’s most powerful doctor’, Gates previously declared that China did “great work” containing the coronavirus, before announcing that “sadly” Omicron is a “type of vaccine” and has “done a better job getting out to the world population than we have with vaccines.”

The Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms (JCCF) is recognizing the fortieth anniversary of the Charter of Rights of Freedoms by ranking the provinces that violated it worst during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“April 17, 2022, marks 40 years since the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms became a part of Canada’s Constitution,” said JCCF president John Carpay. “But this date has been marred by the long list of serious Charter infringements perpetrated against Canadians by the federal and provincial governments over the last two years.”

The JCCF has been on the front lines of the fight against government and institutional pandemic restrictions, including on the ground in Ottawa during the Freedom Convoy.

Radiation and SAR Values of Smartphones

Smartphones and other mobile devices emit tiny amounts of radiofrequency (RF) radiation. Humans can absorb this radiation when the smartphone is being used or is lying dormant anywhere near their bodies.

The parameter used to measure phone radiation emissions is the Specific Absorption Rate (SAR). It is the unit of measurement that represents the quantity of electromagnetic energy absorbed by the body when using a mobile device.

The Council of the European Union has set radiation standards for cell phones at 2.0 watts per kilogram, measured over the 10 grams of tissue that is absorbing the most signal.

Avery Shenfield, chief economist at CIBC World Markets, also doubted the feasibility of the plan given labor constraints: "Without a targeted immigration plan, or a concerted effort to convince young residents to consider taking up a hammer rather than a laptop, we’re going to continue to struggle to ramp up supply enough to allow more Canadians to own their own castle," he wrote Thursday.

Russia Says It Just Shot Down a Military Plane Carrying Western Arms for Ukraine

In what appears Moscow's "answer" to the US and NATO countries continuing to supply major weapons systems to Ukrainian forces, state agency TASS is claiming that Russian forces have brought down a Ukrainian military transport plane that was transporting Western arms. It would mark a massive battlefield development if confirmed, potentially escalating conflict more directly with the West, now that Russia is actively targeting Western arms shipments.

The alleged shoot down occurred outside Odessa via anti-air systems, says TASS, while citing Russian Defense Ministry Spokesman Major-General Igor Konashenkov. Though remaining unconfirmed, China state media has also picked up the report, citing the defense ministry statement, which reads:

"Near Odesa Russian anti-aircraft defense forces have shot down a Ukrainian military transport plane, which was delivering a large shipment of arms supplied to Ukraine by Western counties," Russian Defense Ministry Spokesman Major-General Igor Konashenkov said Saturday.

OTTAWA—Newly disclosed documents reveal the breach of an internal computer network at Rideau Hall was described to senior government officials as a “sophisticated cyber incident” in the days before the public was told of the security lapse.

Internal government emails, obtained by The Canadian Press through the Access to Information Act, also say officials were “unable to confirm the full extent of the information that was accessed.”

As a result, the Office of the Secretary to the Governor General was looking to make credit monitoring services available to employees due to concerns that sensitive personal information might have been pilfered.

There was an article that I saw in the New York Post that featured an interview with Arnold Schwarzenegger with the headline “Screw Your Freedom.” I could not believe that I would see such an inflammatory headline in a paper — especially from someone who was a former governor of California.

Arnold was never noted for his subtlety and started railing against people who don’t wear masks as “schmucks” and adding:

There is a virus here — it kills people, and the only way we prevent it is getting vaccinated, get masks, do social distancing, washing your hands all the time, and not just to think about ‘Well, my freedom is being kind of disturbed here.’ No, screw your freedom.”

Clearly, “screw your freedom” has been the prevailing attitude of almost every government in the world for most of the last twenty months, but they’ve generally been reticent to be quite so direct.

You can question the wisdom of putting “Screw your freedom” in a headline in America, where you’re likely to alienate a lot of people by talking that way, especially when you say it with that Austrian accent– it certainly sounds very harsh to some it sounds like it is coming from a Nazi.

But whatever — it is no longer a matter of health; it is political, and all of this has all the makings of a cult obsessed with death and genotype segregation.

Elon Musk said Saturday that the Twitter Inc. board of directors is not representing the interest of its shareholders.

“Wow, with Jack departing, the Twitter board collectively owns almost no shares! Objectively, their economic interests are simply not aligned with shareholders,” he replied to a post showing a chart of the ownership percentages of Twitter board members.

The chart shows most members of the board own less than 0.005 percent of the company’s shares.

Based on Twitter’s latest filing with U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the 14 executive officers and directors own 2.7 percent of the company’s share. Of the 2.7 percent, Jack Dorsey, the CEO turned board chair owns 2.4 percent and the others own only 0.3 percent.

Dorsey, the co-founder, former CEO, and current board chair of Twitter, jumped into the discussion and indicated that the board was designed to restrict the ownership of board members when he join the board in 2008.

“When I was fired in 2008 and made chair, the board took most of my shares away from me. I also gave 1% of the company back to the employee pool in 2015. So ended up with very little of company,” he replied.

Dorsey announced in November 2021 that he stepped down as CEO of Twitter and will leave the board after his current term expires at the 2022 meeting of stockholders.

The Epoch Times reached out to Twitter for comment.

Twitter’s board of directors on Friday approved a provision known in the financial world as a “poison pill” to ward off Musk’s potential hostile takeover after the latter announced he’s intended to buy the company at the price of $43 billion.

Under the approved provision, if any entity, person, or group acquires 15 percent or more of Twitter’s outstanding stock in a transaction not approved by the board, other stockholders will be able to buy additional shares of common stock at a lower price.

The Tesla CEO seems to be collecting more gunpowder for his bid for the controversial big tech company.

In another separate Twitter exchange, he said it could be “more of a concern about other potential bidders” instead of just him when a Twitter user labeled the poison pill by Twitter’s board as “criminal negligence.”

Ukrainian commanders told The Times that soldiers from Britain’s Special Air Service (SAS) are training Ukrainian troops in Kyiv on how to use anti-tank weapons provided by London.

According to the accounts of the commanders, the British troops arrived in Kyiv about two weeks ago to begin the training on Next Generation Light Anti-Tank Weapons, known as NLAWs. The UK started sending NLAWs to Ukraine shortly after Russia invaded on February 24.

The revelation of the SAS training mission is the first report of a NATO member having a military presence in Ukraine since Russia invaded, and it could risk provoking Moscow. In a diplomatic letter to the US last week, Russia warned NATO to stop arming Ukraine, and Russian officials have said US and NATO vehicles transporting weapons inside the country would be considered “legitimate military targets.”

The British Ministry of Defense wouldn’t confirm the training mission, citing its position on not commenting on special operations. Since 2014, the US and its NATO allies had sent troops to Ukraine for training, but they were reported withdrawn in February before the invasion.

Captain Yuriy Myronenko, one of the Ukrainian commanders who spoke with The Times, said the British training was necessary since new recruits and returning veterans had no experience with the NLAWs. “British officers were here two weeks ago in our unit and they trained us really good,” Myronenko said.

"Officers from two battalions stationed in and around the capital said they had undergone military training, one last week and the other the week before," the Times detailed of Ukrainian forces receiving the training.

Last week, the US announced an additional $800 million in military aid for Ukraine. Included in the package for the first time are 155mm Howitzers and advanced radar systems that the Pentagon plans to train Ukrainian troops on how to use. But rather than send US troops into Ukraine, the training is expected to happen in a NATO country in Eastern Europe.

The number of avian flu cases in Quebec is growing, with four poultry farms now affected by the virus.

Canada’s food inspection agency confirmed Sunday the latest case of the highly pathogenic H5N1 strain of avian influenza was detected in a flock in Les Sources, Que., about 190 kilometres east of Montreal.

The four farm outbreaks are concentrated in the Estrie region, east of Montreal, including at a commercial duck farm that announced its first case last week.

The federal agency says the facilities have been placed under quarantine, and it is recommending other farms in the area increase biosecurity measures.

Quebec’s first bird flu cases were detected in wild geese earlier this month, and several other provinces have reported outbreaks in wild and domestic populations.

H5N1 is commonly found in wild waterfowl, but it can cause serious disease and death in domestic populations.

While it can be transmitted to humans on rare occasions, the inspection agency says avian influenza is not a significant public health concern for healthy people who are not in regular contact with infected birds.

He says Canada has avoided many of the teething problems that have plagued the F-35 during its early years, and is now poised to receive better planes at a lower price than if it had purchased the aircraft under the previous Conservative government.

As the cost of living becomes more expensive, half of Canadians indicate that they are only $200 away from being unable to pay their bills.

According to an Ipsos survey conducted for the professional service firm MNP, 49% of Canadians surveyed are within $200 of insolvency. Further, 31% of respondents said they are unable to cover their bills because they don’t earn enough income.

Two thousand Canadian adults were surveyed by Ipsos from March 9-15 – a week prior to the Bank of Canada’s (BOC) decision to raise its central rate for the first time since 2018.

The BOC raised interest rates by half a percentage point last week and promised several more hikes in an attempt to fight historically-high inflation.

According to the survey, 52% of Canadians said they were already feeling the effects of high rates prior to the BOC’s decision. Continue…
