One of the unique phenomenons around Julian Assange is that he is unifying in all sectors.

Both political parties in the US want him gone in order to protect their corruption and to legally gag exposure of their future crimes:

and both subsets of citizens (self declared liberal or conservative) generally want him free in order to continue to expose that very same corruption.

His case, represents the flow of power, and who indeed will control the direction we as a People take.

Are we to be the toys of despots whose homes are gated and workplaces gilded in barbed wire? Or will the voice of the People be heard and their mounting pressure force a reckoning with the out-of-touch criminal elite?

There is a curious cost here, that hangs in the balance.

If the US proceeds with trying for the extradition, they may succeed in gaining terrifyingly powerful legal precedent to silence you, but in doing so; will have utterly lost the will of the People. It will be a self injurious wound in the end that will likely usher in their collective downfall (if we are to measure by historical standard at least).

If they back away from this corrupt case, as they certainly should; then free speech has won, new generations of leakers will be doubly emboldened, and while humanity will benefit across the board; for the elitists whose lives depend on their crimes being kept hidden, it spells certain doom.

This catch 22, places us in an interesting paradigm that we, as a world connected by nearly instant communication, have never been in before.

The choices of the elite are neither one going to benefit them.

However, if they truly intend on remaining in power, it would be wise to remember that authority to rule is delegated, it is not a right. It can be removed, and if it is forcefully removed by virtue of a true failure of rule, it can be ugly indeed.

The days ahead, either way, promise a great deal of change. I am reminded of Bobby Kennedy's words spoken so long ago about latin america in 1966:

"A revolution is coming – a revolution which will be peaceful if we are wise enough; compassionate if we care enough; successful if we are fortunate enough – but a revolution which is coming whether we will it or not. We can affect its character; we cannot alter its inevitability"

Let’s Encrypt, a free-to-use nonprofit, issues certificates that encrypt the connections between your devices and the wider internet, ensuring that nobody can intercept and steal your data in transit. Millions of websites alone rely on Let’s Encrypt. But, as warned by security researcher Scott Helme, the root certificate that Let’s Encrypt currently uses — the IdentTrust DST Root CA X3 — was set to expire on September 30. After expiry, computers, devices and web clients — such as browsers — will no longer trust certificates that have been issued by this certificate authority.

For the overwhelming majority of website users, there is nothing to worry about and September 30 will be business as usual. Older devices, however, could run into some trouble, much like they did when the AddTrust External CA Root expired back in May. Stripe, Red Hat and Roku all suffered outages as a result.

“Given the relative size difference between Let’s Encrypt and AddTrust, I have a feeling that the IdenTrust root expiry has the potential to cause more problems,” Helme warned in a blog post, referring to the upcoming expiry.

Devices likely to be affected by the certificate expiry are those that don’t get updated regularly, like embedded systems that are designed not to automatically update or smartphones running years-old software releases. Users running older versions of macOS 2016 and Windows XP (with Service Pack 3) are likely to face issues, along with clients dependent on OpenSSL 1.0.2 or earlier, and older PlayStations that haven’t been upgraded to newer firmware.

“For an Android phone’s built-in browser, the list of trusted root certificates comes from the operating system — which is out of date on these older phones,” Let’s Encrypt explains. “However, Firefox is currently unique among browsers — it ships with its own list of trusted root certificates.”

Let’s Encrypt, which as of early September issued more than two billion certificates since it was founded in 2014, told TechCrunch that users should look at how many clients are using affected versions of OpenSSL and years-old operating systems. Its advice for those who can’t upgrade is to “look into whether serving a certificate chain with our new cross-sign makes sense.”

DOJ Inspector General Horowitz Finds Widespread Errors in FBI’s FISA Requests Used to Spy on Americans

We’ve known this now for years and finally, DOJ Inspector General Horowitz addresses it.

Released today:

The Justice Department inspector general Thursday faulted the FBI for “widespread” errors in its applications for surveillance authority, concluding that the bureau failed to provide supporting documentation for sensitive wiretap requests.

Building on a 2019 examination of the FBI’s surveillance of a former Trump aide, Justice Inspector General Michael Horowitz found that the bureau did not include adequate support for 183 surveillance applications between 2015 and 2020 following a review of more than 7,000 such requests.

The findings, Horowitz said “highlights the need for the FBI and DOJ to ensure rigorous supervisory review and robust oversight to help reduce the risk of erroneous information being included in (Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act) FISA applications.”

The FISA, enacted in 1978, outlines procedures investigators must follow when they ask judges for permission to conduct electronic surveillance of people suspected of acting as foreign agents.

What Horowitz’s new report ignores is that the Russia Hoax, which was the brainchild of Hillary Clinton, was used by the FBI to spy on President Trump and anyone near him in order to overthrow or impede his Administration and its initiatives.

Former Long Beach police officer arrested on federal indictment alleging he distributed and possessed child pornography following HSI probe

LOS ANGELES – A former Long Beach Police officer has been arrested pursuant to a federal grand jury indictment alleging he possessed and distributed child pornography when he was working as a law enforcement officer.

Anthony Brown, 57, of Lakewood, was arrested Wednesday morning by special agents with Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Los Angeles. At his arraignment in U.S. District Court Wednesday afternoon, Brown pleaded not guilty to three counts of distribution of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography.

According to the indictment returned on September 21, Brown used MeWe, an internet-based messaging application, to distribute sexually explicit images of girls in November 2019 and April 2020.

From October 2019 through May 2020, Brown also knowingly possessed a sexually explicit image of a girl who had not yet reached the age of 12, the indictment alleges.

Brown was a Long Beach Police officer for 27 years. He left the force earlier this year after his arrest on state charges of possession and distribution of child pornography. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office has dismissed those charges in light of the federal case.

At Wednesday’s arraignment, Brown was released on bond. A trial was scheduled for November 23.

If convicted of all charges, Brown would face a mandatory minimum sentence of five years in federal prison and a statutory maximum sentence of 80 years in federal prison.

HSI Los Angeles and the Long Beach Police Department investigated this matter.

The case is being prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney for the Central District of California’s Public Corruption and Civil Rights and General Crimes Sections.

Chinese police have cracked a human-smuggling case and arrested 229 suspects after investigations lasting more than a year, the National Immigration Administration (NIA) said Wednesday.

In the case, several foreigners were found to have arranged for people from neighboring countries to sneak into China, said the NIA, adding that the police broke up 10 criminal gangs and seized 15 vehicles and funds worth over 350,000 yuan (54,000 U.S. dollars) involved in the case.

An official of the NIA vowed strengthened cooperation with procuratorates and courts to investigate the criminal liability of the suspects in accordance with the law.
