The Israeli parliament, the Knesset, has rejected a bill presented by Yousef Jabareen on behalf of the Arab Joint List intended to ensure full equality for all of Israel’s citizens, regardless of their ethnicity or religious affiliation.

Jabareen presented his bill in advance of the 20th anniversary of the Aqsa Intifada, which has became a cornerstone in the collective consciousness of Israel’s Arab citizens, who make up 20 per cent of the population. They suffer from institutional discrimination, exclusion and hostility.

Despite the bill highlighting the need for human rights and democracy to be available to all in the Zionist state, it was rejected by a majority of the ruling coalition and opposition parties.

The text of the bill emphasised that democratic principles should be applied to all citizens in the state: “Israel is a democratic state that guarantees equal rights, based on the principles of human dignity, freedom and equality, in the spirit of the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights” while providing that “the state ensures equal and legal protection for all citizens, and fully guarantees national, cultural, linguistic and religious specificity to both Arabs and Jews.” It stressed that Arabic and Hebrew are the official languages of the state, and both have equal status in all posts and workplaces of the legislative, executive and judicial authorities.”

Florida man federally charged with production of child pornography and enticement of a minor as result of ICE, law enforcement partner, investigation

TACOMA, Wash. – A 39-year-old New Port Ritchey, Florida, man is in federal custody tonight charged with production of child pornography and enticement of a minor, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE), Homeland Security Investigation’s (HSI) Acting Special Agent in Charge in Seattle Eben Roberts and U.S. Attorney Brian T. Moran announced today. Samuel Aaron Leonard was arrested July 2, in Vancouver, Washington, just outside the home of the 14‑year-old girl he had spent months enticing online for sexual abuse. Leonard allegedly communicated with the girl on a number of social media platforms and represented to the girl that he was 20 years old. Leonard will make his initial appearance in U.S. District Court Monday.

According to the criminal complaint, Leonard contacted the girl via a social media platform around April 1. Over the next few months, Leonard communicated with the girl on various social media sites and sent her a cell phone so that they could communicate by text and telephone. Unbeknownst to the girl, Leonard installed tracking and surveillance software in the phone so that he could monitor her location and read her texts and emails. Leonard turned the conversations with the girl to a sexual nature and convinced her to send various sexually explicit photos. The girl’s guardians became aware of the communication and contacted Kalama Police in late June. Law enforcement immediately seized both phones that the teen had been using to communicate and had an undercover officer take over the communication. Analyzing the communications and the cell phone information, the investigation revealed that Leonard had traveled from Florida to the Vancouver area via bus and was within a short bike ride of the girl’s home. When the officer, posing as the girl, revealed that the girl’s guardian had taken the phone Leonard had sent to her, Leonard said he would get her a new one. Police surveilled Leonard as he took a newly purchased phone, hid it in a package, and tossed the package over the fence to the girl’s backyard. Leonard was arrested shortly afterwards.

A search of Leonard’s hotel room revealed that he had a firearm and ammunition, four folding survival knives, a survival axe, and a number of items used to restrain someone, such as ten sets of flex cuffs and two sets of metal handcuffs, as well as duct tape and electrical tape. He also had various sex toys and lubricants.

Production of child pornography is punishable by a mandatory minimum 15 years in prison and up to 30 years in prison. Enticement of a minor is punishable by a mandatory minimum 10 years in prison and up to life in prison.

The charges contained in the complaint are only allegations. A person is presumed innocent unless and until he or she is proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

San Francisco State University Professor Rabab Abdulhadi and Professor Tomomi Kinukawa are hosting the open classroom Internet event described as: “a historic roundtable conversation with Palestinian feminist, militant, and leader Leila Khaled, followed by Q&A discussion with students, activists, and scholars at 12:30-2:30 pm PST (3:30-5:30 pm New York, and 10:30pm-12:30 am in Palestine and Jordan).

While Leila Khaled is not a specially designated terrorist, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine is a designated organization – and Khaled is a member of the terrorist organization’s politburo. Because it is an online event, there are no issues related to her admissibility to the U.S. Khaled has spoken in Europe several times (including at an EU conference in Brussels in 2017), but was denied entry to Italy the same year.

“We are able to reach neutralizing antibodies to levels that are higher than those in people who have been sick,” Zaks said. “These antibodies, in people who have been sick, we believe are what keep us from getting coronavirus a second time. So that is the reason for our optimism.

Moderna’s goal is to produce 300 million vaccine doses by January 2021 so “we can start immunizing ourselves and that will make a dent in this pandemic.”

Moderna allowed governments to prepay for vaccine doses, which helped Moderna secure its manufacturing footprint. Among those countries is the State of Israel, though reports have not divulged any of the parameters of the deal.

The second scientist is Dr. Alexander Gintsburg, head of Moscow’s state-run Gamaleya Institute. In early September, The Lancet medical journal reported that Russia’s “Sputnik-V” COVID-19 vaccine produced an antibody response in all participants in early-stage trials.

Russia licensed the two-shot jab for domestic use in August, the first country to do so. Currently, a Phase 3, 40,000-strong trial of the vaccine is underway. Israel’s Hadassah Medical Center, which has a branch in Skolkovo near Moscow, is in negotiations to join the trial.

Gamaleya Institute’s vaccine is administered in two doses, with each based on a different vector that normally causes the common cold: human adenoviruses Ad5 and Ad26.

The organization ‘OKVOTE’ has sent out mailers to Oklahoma residents, saying their voter registration is not up-to-date.

“State and county election officials are not affiliated with OKVOTE nor with this mailing. We encourage voters who received this letter to use the official OK Voter Portal their County Election Board to confirm their voter registration,” said State Election Board Secretary Paul Ziriax.

Officials with ‘OKVote’ say they used a third-party direct mail company to identify Oklahomans who had recently moved and who were not listed in public records as registered voters.

They say the process used to identify the voters was flawed, resulting in some Oklahomans who were already registered to vote receiving the mailer.

In all, they estimate anywhere between one to two percent of those who received the mailer were either already registered or recently registered to vote.

Hunter Biden Offered D.C. Access to Chinese Company in Exchange for Investments

Hunter Biden touted his family’s political clout to solicit a $5 million investment from China for his U.S.-based financial advisory firm, according to a court filing by a white-collar convict who claims he had an inside view into Biden’s murky foreign business dealings.

John Galanis, 77, argues that the younger Biden used his businesses as a "pay-to-play influence peddling operation" by offering access to influential people in Washington, D.C., in exchange for investments. Galanis, who was convicted in 2018 of defrauding investors and the Wakpamni tribal community, states in the affidavit that his son, Jason Galanis, provided him with details of Biden’s offshore deals after befriending Biden’s longtime business partner Devon Archer.

In the affidavit, Galanis says that Biden and Archer worked to secure $15 million for their financial advisory company from the Chinese investment fund Harvest Fund Management in 2015, which agreed to provide them with $5 million after Biden reached out directly to the firm’s chairman and said it would be important to the Biden family.

"To induce Chinese, Biden sends email to Henry Zhao, Chairman/founder of Harvest," said Galanis. "[Biden] says investment would be important to his family. Chinese agree to $5 million investment in Burnham Asset Management alone."

At the time, Archer and Biden’s investment advisory firm, Burnham Financial, was facing significant financial problems and needed the $5 million investment to stay afloat. The company’s independent trustees told Archer that they had "very grave concerns" about "the solvency of Burnham" and were considering moving the funds to a different adviser, according to minutes from an October 2015 board meeting that were included in a previous court appeal by Archer.

Archer reassured the trustees that he had a "relationship with various persons and entities based in the People's Republic of China," including Zhao, "and it was hoped that Harvest or its various affiliated parties would make a contribution through a business relationship to be developed to the working capital of Burnham in the amount of $5 million," according to a copy of the board minutes.

Around the same time, Archer and Biden put together a financial proposal for Burnham to pitch to Harvest that promised "Washington, D.C., access" for investors, according to a copy of the presentation that was introduced in the trial. Biden was listed in the presentation as the vice chairman of Burnham & Co. and the CEO of Burnham Advisors.

Growing research indicates many COVID-19 cases might not be infectious at all

Elevated 'cycle thresholds' may be detecting virus long after it is past the point of infection.

A growing body of research suggests that a significant number of confirmed COVID-19 infections in the U.S. — perhaps as many as 9 out of every 10 — may not be infectious at all, with much of the country's testing equipment possibly picking up mere fragments of the disease rather than full-blown infections.

Confirmed cases of the disease have been the focal point of public health authorities and governments worldwide for many months, with countries across the globe working frantically to shore up their testing infrastructure and ensure that most citizens who want a COVID-19 test can obtain one with relative ease.

Many politicians, meanwhile — including most state governors in the U.S. — have tied reopening policies to the number of cases detected in the local community, with regions and localities often being permitted to reopen in staggered "phases" only when they have reached successively lower benchmarks of average new daily cases in the area.

Numerous institutions, meanwhile, have adopted testing protocols in an attempt to preempt the spread of the virus. American colleges and universities, for instance, have turned to mass testing in order to closely monitor incidences of the disease among students, particularly residential students living on campus.

Yet a burgeoning line of scientific inquiry suggests that many confirmed infections of COVID-19 may actually be just residual traces of the virus itself, a contention that — if true — may suggest both that current high levels of positive viruses are clinically insignificant and that the mitigation measures used to suppress them may be excessive.

'Cycle threshold' set very high for many tests

At issue is the method by which many COVID-19 tests detect a patient's viral load within a given sample. Polymerase chain reaction tests, which have been widely deployed to determine if individuals are infected with the disease, function by amplifying DNA samples to the point that an antigen can be detected and classified.

The "cycle threshold" is the number of amplification cycles a PCR test goes through before a target pathogen is detected. A lower cycle threshold means that a higher amount of the virus was present in the sample; a higher threshold means the machine had to work harder to detect the virus in the sample, indicating a lower viral load and more likely a non-infectious patient.

Undercover Journalist Hits Planned Parenthood with Defamation Lawsuit

Undercover journalist David Daleiden filed a defamation lawsuit against Planned Parenthood, alleging that a communications officer gave false statements to a publication regarding organ harvesting operations.

Attorneys for Daleiden at the Thomas More Society said that the nation's largest abortion organization orchestrated a smear campaign to distract from the content of his work, which featured candid conversations with Planned Parenthood executives about the trade of baby body parts.

"We have not been surprised over their campaign to smear the reputation of Mr. Daleiden, but they are not allowed to falsely besmirch his reputation for exposing the truth," Thomas More Society president Tom Brejcha said in a statement.

The complaint cites a quote given by a communications officer from Planned Parenthood to Rewire News that accused Daleiden and his organization, the Center for Medical Progress, of having "manufacture[d] a fake smear campaign against Planned Parenthood." It also cites a tweet from November 2019 that claimed Daleiden, who posed as a prospective buyer of fetal organs, distorted the truth in his videos.

"In reality, as PPFA and its representatives recorded on the Videos readily admit in other fora, Plaintiffs’ videos accurately record Planned Parenthood officials' own shocking words spoken in real life," the complaint says.

Planned Parenthood spokeswoman Melanie Newman dismissed the lawsuit as "baseless" and another chapter in a "multi-year, malicious campaign to advance [Daleiden's] goals of banning safe, legal abortion in this country."

"These baseless claims are not new. They are just another desperate attempt by a discredited source to get publicity," Newman said in an email.

The suit marks the latest in a years-long legal struggle between Daleiden and Planned Parenthood. In December 2019, Daleiden sued an individual Planned Parenthood employee for defamation who was recorded on video discussing the sale of fetal organs.

Abortion supporters have waged a legal battle targeting the pro-life activist in recent years, successfully blocking the release of additional footage and winning a $2 million jury verdict over his undercover tactics. Vice-presidential candidate Kamala Harris also launched an investigation into Daleiden during her tenure as California's attorney general. Her office, which coordinated with top Planned Parenthood officials during the course of the probe, eventually filed criminal charges against the undercover videographer.

An investigation by the Associated Press did not find evidence of the widespread ICE sterilizations a whistleblower complaint alleged but did uncover several incidents of medical misconduct

An Associated Press report published Friday alleges some evidence of improper medical conduct toward immigrants detained at the Irwin County Detention Center in Georgia but does not support allegations of widespread, nonconsensual sterilizations made in a whistleblower complaint.

The complaint, filed by a nurse with the assistance of four Southern advocacy groups and released Monday, alleged the facility ignored COVID-19 safety guidelines, abused detainees and often performed questionably consensual surgeries that left some patients sterilized. AP did not find evidence of mass sterilizations but did uncover several allegations of medical misconduct. Priyanka Bhatt, staff attorney at Project South, said in an interview with The Washington Post she did not speak to anyone who had undergone forced sterilization, but left the statements in the report to spark an investigation into the allegations.

Dr. Mahendra Amin, the doctor identified as performing the operations, told The Intercept he has only performed “one or two hysterectomies in the past two [or] three years.” Records show women needing gynecological care were usually referred to Amin. Immigration and Customs Enforcement reported there have been two referrals for hysterectomies from the facility since 2018 and denied any misconduct.

“Detainees are afforded informed consent, and a medical procedure like a hysterectomy would never be performed against a detainee’s will,” said Dr. Ada Rivera, medical director of the ICE Health Service Corps.

Interviews with some of the detainees paint a less benign picture. Two women spoke anonymously to AP, fearing retaliation, one who said she received a hysterectomy and the other who refused the surgery.

Medical records confirm the first woman went to Amin, and lab results showed early signs of cancer. Amin’s notes state she agreed to a hysterectomy 11 days later, but she told Andrew Free, a lawyer investigating the claims, she was pressured by Amin and “didn’t have the opportunity to say no” or consult family members prior to surgery.

The second woman needed treatment for heavy bleeding and subsequently was referred for a psychiatric evaluation. She said she “saw someone else after they had surgery and what I saw scared me.”

Education Secretary Betsy DeVos's former chief of staff has joined a group of anti-Trump Republicans as an adviser.

Josh Venable, who served as the top aide to DeVos in 2017 and 2018, has joined the Republican Political Alliance for Integrity and Reform (REPAIR), the group announced Thursday.

Venable previously served in the George W. Bush administration and as deputy finance director for the Republican National Committee from 2011-2012.

The Department of Education did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

REPAIR consists of several former Trump White House officials, ex-lawmakers and GOP officials from previous administrations. The group aims to advance "a more hopeful vision of America’s future."

Among its members are former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci and Olivia Troye, a former homeland security aide to Vice President Pence.

Troye, who left the White House in July and also served as an adviser to the White House coronavirus task force, said in an ad released Thursday from Republican Voters Against Trump that President Trump has failed to keep Americans safe.

"If the president had taken this virus seriously, or if he had actually made an effort to tell how serious it was, he would have slowed the virus spread, he would have saved lives," she said.

The White House blasted Troye's criticisms, saying she failed to raise any concerns while working in the White House.

"It reads to me like one more disgruntled employee that has decided to play politics during an election year," Pence said of her comments.
