After December 31,2021, CDC will withdraw the request to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) of the CDC 2019-Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) Real-Time RT-PCR Diagnostic Panel, the assay first introduced in February 2020 for detection of SARS-CoV-2 only.
CDC is providing this advance notice for clinical laboratories to have adequate time to select and implement one of the many FDA- authorized alternatives.
Visit the FDA website for a list of authorized COVID-19 diagnostic methods. For a summary of the performance of FDA-authorized molecular methods with an FDA reference panel, visit this page.
In preparation for this change, CDC recommends clinical laboratories and testing sites that have been using the CDC 2019- nCoV RT-PCR assay select and begin their transition to another FDA-authorized COVID-19 test. CDC encourages laboratories to consider adoption of a multiplexed method.

Arizona Secretary of State Katie Hobbs (D) said that her message to former President Trump before his visit on Saturday is to “take your loss and accept it and move on,” referring to the ongoing partisan audit of the 2020 election results.
Trump is heading to Phoenix on Saturday for a “Rally to Save Our Elections!” event hosted by the conservative group Turning Point Action. He is likely to touch on his baseless claims that widespread voter fraud occurred during last year’s election.
“How dangerous is it for Donald Trump to be coming to your state tomorrow, do you think?” CNN's Jim Acosta asked Hobbs on “The Situation Room” on Friday.
“Well, it is dangerous. I'm glad you pointed that out. But the bottom line is it doesn't matter what he says or does. Nothing is going to change the outcome of the 2020 election. But it also doesn't change how dangerous this is,” said Hobbs, who is running in Arizona’s 2022 gubernatorial race.
“The bottom line is that Arizonians are tired of being led by conspiracy theorists. They don't support this fake audit, and they're ready for leaders who are going to put those partisan games aside and deal with real issues,” Hobbs continued.
Heeding Trump’s call to reexamine the election results of 2020, Republicans from Arizona’s state Senate launched an audit in December focused in Maricopa County, which President Biden won by more than 2 percentage points in November, in an attempt to undermine the election results.

America’s Frontline Doctors (AFLDS) filed a motion July 19, seeking immediate injunctive relief in Alabama Federal District Court to stop the use of Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) COVID vaccines — Pfizer/BioNTech, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson (J&J) — for three groups of Americans.
According to a press release, AFLDS is asking to immediately stop administration of experimental COVID vaccines in anyone 18 and younger, all those who have recovered from COVID and acquired natural immunity, and every other American who has not received informed consent as defined by federal law.
The 67-page motion requests the judge issue a preliminary injunction pursuant to § 360bbb–3(b)(1)(C) for the following reasons:
There is no emergency, which is a prerequisite to issuing EUA and EUA renewals for COVID vaccines.
There is “no serious or life-threatening disease or condition.”
Vaccines do not diagnose, treat or prevent SARS-CoV-2 or COVID.
Known and potential risks of the vaccine outweigh their known and potential benefits.
There are adequate, approved and available alternatives to vaccines.
Healthcare professionals and vaccine candidates are not adequately informed.
The authors of the motion attached a declaration by a whistleblower who came forward alleging deaths occurring within 72 hours of receiving a COVID vaccine are significantly under-reported in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System (VAERS) maintained by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
As of July 9, reported deaths in the VAERS totaled 10,991. Of those, 4,593 occurred within 72-hours of vaccination.
The whistleblower — a computer programmer who developed more than 100 distinct healthcare fraud algorithms, and who has expertise in healthcare data analytics that allows her to access Medicare and Medicaid data obtained by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Systems (CMS) — filed a sworn statement under penalty of perjuryalleging the actual number of COVID vaccine-related deaths is closer to 45,000.

Johnson & Johnson said Wednesday that it is recalling five of its sunscreen productsafter some samples were found to contain low levels of benzene, a chemical that can cause cancer with repeated exposure.
The affected products, packaged in aerosol cans, are Aveeno Protect + Refresh aerosol sunscreen, and four Neutrogena sunscreen versions: Beach Defense aerosol sunscreen, CoolDry Sport aerosol sunscreen, Invisible Daily Defense aerosol sunscreen and UltraSheer aerosol sunscreen.
The recall includes all can sizes and all levels of sun protection factor, or SPF. The products were distributed nationwide through retailers.
Traces of benzene were detected in dozens of popular sunscreens and after-sun products, according to tests conducted by online pharmacy and lab Valisure, CBS News reported last month.
Benzene, a known carcinogen, was found in 78 of nearly 300 sprays and lotions tested — about 27% — including products sold by Banana Boat and CVS, according to Valisure
The health care giant said it is investigating how the chemical got into the products.
