Almost 4,000 Fully Vaccinated in Massachusetts Test Positive for COVID-19

Nearly 4,000 people in Massachusetts who have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 have now tested positive for the disease. The growing number of cases now comes from those getting the vaccine, the epitome of irony America.
The number of breakthrough cases in the state has been infrequent so far — accounting for approximately one in 1,000 vaccinated people.
As of June 12, there were 3,791 coronavirus cases among the more than 3.7 million fully vaccinated individuals in Massachusetts, reports said.
“We’re learning that many of the breakthrough infections are asymptomatic or they’re very mild and brief in duration,” said Boston University infectious diseases specialist Davidson Hamer, according to the Boston Herald. “The viral load is not very high.”
“Breakthroughs are expected, and we need to better understand who’s at risk and whether people who have a breakthrough can transmit the virus to others,” he continued. “In some cases, they’ll be shedding such low levels of the virus and won’t be transmitting to others.”
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, large-scale clinical studies have found that COVID-19 vaccination prevented most people from getting the virus. Still, no vaccine is 100% effective at preventing the disease and there will be “a small percentage of fully vaccinated people who still get sick, are hospitalized, or die from COVID-19,” the agency said.
A recent study from the CDC showed that Pfizer and Moderna are about 90% effective against infection two weeks after the last dose has passed. The one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine is about 72% effective against moderate to severe disease, according to U.S. trials.
“Testing to identify current infection remains critical to control of COVID-19,” a DPH spokeswoman told the paper. “People with current infection can spread the virus to others and isolation of cases and identification of close contacts (individuals who may have been exposed) is a foundation of public health response.”

Mainstream media ignores Canadian doctors speaking out against official COVID narrative
Canada’s mainstream media showed their true colours this past week by refusing to report on the censorship of doctors and scientists across the country, which was exposed in a June 17 press conference on Parliament Hill hosted by independent MP Derek Sloan.
That conference quickly began the most viewed parliamentary proceedings that CPAC, Canada’s Cable Public Affairs Channel, has ever aired, proving how starved people are for the other side of the story when it comes to the politically filtered narrative on all things COVID. Viruses like COVID-19 might be spread further on the back of pollen from trees — potentially increasing the risk of infection in crowded areas, a study has warned.
Experts from the University of Nicosia, Cyprus, created a computer simulation of a willow tree — a prototypical pollen emitter — and modelled how its grains spread.
In a light breeze, the model showed that pollen could pass through a crowd 66 feet away within just one minute, potentially helping move viral particles along the way.
Based on the findings, the authors have said that the six-foot social distance often recommended to cut the risk of spreading COVID-19 might not always be enough.
Instead, they said, recommendations might be improved by adding in accommodation for local pollen levels, especially in crowded areas with trees.
On a heavy day, the average tree can put into the air more than 40 pollen grains per cubic feet, the experts said, with each grain able to carry hundreds of viral particles.
The study was undertaken by computational physicist Talib Dbouk and engineer Dimitris Drikakis of the University of Nicosia.
Their investigation was inspired by the observation of a correlation between areas of increased COVID-19 infection rates and the US national allergy map.
The duo used cutting-edge fluid dynamics models to create a computer simulation of how pollen moves through the air from a willow tree in the wind.
One of the significant challenges was the re-creation of an utterly realistic environment of a mature willow tree,' said Dr Dbouk.
'This included thousands of tree leaves and pollen grain particles, hundreds of stems and a realistic gathering of a crowd.'
Specifically, the team simulated how 10,000 grains of pollen blowing from their tree would interact with two outdoor gatherings around 66 feet away — one of 10 people, the other of 100 — with some of the individuals also shedding COVID-19 particles.
Having tuned the model's conditions to match the temperature, windspeed and humidity of a typical spring day in the United States, the duo found that pollen would pass through both crowds in less than a minute.
This, they explained, has the potential to pick up viral particles and carry them further than they would spread otherwise — increasing the risk of infection for people within the range of the tree.
'To our knowledge, this is the first time we show through modelling and simulation how airborne pollen micro-grains are transported in a light breeze, contributing to airborne virus transmission in crowds outdoors,' said Professor Drikakis.
Alongside calling attention to unexpected ways in which viruses like COVID-19 might be transmitted, Professor Drikakis and Dr Dbouk said that they hope their study will stoke further interest in the fluid dynamitic of plants.
With their initial study complete, the duo are now looking to better understand the interactions between airborne pollen grains and the human respiratory system under different environmental conditions.

Billionaire’s Chilean Financial Firm Seeks Bankruptcy in U.S.
Corp Group Banking SA, a Chilean financial holding company controlled by billionaire Alvaro Saieh, filed for bankruptcy after the coronavirus pandemic sparked an economic slowdown that worsened fortunes in the banking sector.
The Santiago-based company sought Friday Chapter 11 protection from creditors in the Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware. The move was expected after the company skipped an interest payment last year on $500 million of 6.75% notes due 2023 and didn’t cure it when a grace period expired Oct. 15. Corp Group Banking failed to meet its payments after the pandemic and social unrest in Chile affected operations at its main operating unit, lender Itau CorpBanca, a bank in which it owns a 26.6% stake. Amid a severe economic downturn, Itau suspended dividend payments that Corp Group relied on to meet obligations. Saieh, who owns one of Chile’s largest conglomerates with stakes in media, retail, real estate, and hotels, agreed in 2014 to sell his controlling stake in Corpbanca to Itau Unibanco Holding SA for $1.8 billion.
Itau Corpbanca announced earlier this month a plan to sell as much as $1.15 billion in new shares to meet Basel III capital requirements.

Japan expatriates to be vaccinated upon return from August
Japanese expatriates temporarily returning to their home country will begin receiving vaccinations against the novel coronavirus starting on Aug. 1, Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi said Friday. Pfizer Inc.’s COVID-19 vaccine will be available to returning expats at Narita International Airport in Chiba Prefecture and Tokyo’s Haneda Airport in response to concerns among Japanese nationals over being vaccinated overseas.
The government will open up a special website for the inoculation program in July and start accepting reservations. Although many people around the world have already received coronavirus vaccines, inoculations have been slow in developing nations. There have also been concerns over the safety of vaccines other than those developed by major U.S. and British drugmakers that have been approved by the Japanese government. In a survey taken by the Foreign Ministry covering Japanese expats living in 169 countries and regions, around 40,000 people said they want to be vaccinated. Many expats said that they want to receive injections in Japan, Motegi said at a news conference.
The new program will allow such people to be vaccinated during the Bon summer holiday season in August as well as at other times, he added.

A few say they have already done so themselves, even without published data on whether combining two different vaccines is safe and effective or backing from U.S. health regulators. Canada and some European countries are already allowing people to get two different COVID-19 shots.
The debate centers on concerns over how protective the J&J shot is against the Delta variant first detected in India and now circulating widely in many countries. Delta, which has also been associated with more severe disease, could quickly become the dominant version of the virus in the United States, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Director Rochelle Walensky has warned.

New York Attorney General Letitia James announced on Saturday that Johnson & Johnson has agreed to halt sales of opioids nationwide in a $230 million settlement with New York state.
As part of the settlement, the company will resolve opioids-related claims and allocate payments over nine years. It could also pay $30 million more in the first year if the state executive chamber signs into law new legislation creating an opioid settlement fund, according to the press release from James’ office.
“The opioid epidemic has wreaked havoc on countless communities across New York state and the rest of the nation, leaving millions still addicted to dangerous and deadly opioids,” James said in a statement.
“Johnson & Johnson helped fuel this fire, but today they’re committing to leaving the opioid business — not only in New York, but across the entire country,” she said.
