Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) was mocked by conservatives Monday evening after a hearing of the United States House Select Committee on the January 6 Attack produced text messages from former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows that showed numerous people close to then-President Donald Trump, including his son, were surprised by the Capitol riot and reached out to him to issue a statement against it — which he then did.

The panel voted to recommend that the full House vote to hold Meadows in contempt of Congress and refer him for prosecution to the Department of Justice, even though Meadows has provided information to the committee.

Meadows is refusing to provide information over which President Trump has exerted executive privilege, saying the courts, not Congress, need to decide what the limits of that privilege are.

The January 6 committee, stacked with alumni from Trump’s two impeachments, including Reps. Adam Schiff (D-CA) and Jamie Raskin (D-MD), is proceeding on a theory that Trump and his allies had launched an “insurrection” to seize power.

But the text messages read by Cheney showed that Trump’s inner circle — including Meadows, Donald Trump Jr., and several Fox News opinion hosts — were stunned by the riot. “We need an Oval Office address. He has to lead now. It has gone too far and gotten out of hand,” Trump Jr. apparently texted to Meadows.

Trump was later criticized for how long it took him to speak, and for appearing to show sympathy for the rioters, but he did give an address telling them to leave peacefully.

“Bonchie,” a blogger at RedState, summarized conservative reaction to Cheney’s speech and the released Meadows texts:

Are we to believe that Donald Trump orchestrated “what happened on January 6th” but didn’t let his own son in on it? Or that Trump didn’t share his plans with any of his closest confidantes in the media? That belabors belief, especially since Meadows himself responded to those texts in agreement, noting that he was coordinating with the president on how to respond.

It is abundantly clear at this point that whatever you think of Donald Trump, what happened on January 6th was as much a surprise to him as anyone else. The idea that he hatched and led some master plan in an attempt to seize power and remain in office never made any sense given what we know. Besides, it makes even less sense when you consider that it…didn’t happen. Normally, when you want to enact a coup, you actually, you know, enact a coup. Instead, Trump denounced what occurred, even if it was a few hours later than some would have liked. He then left the White House without any objections.

Meadows is also suing the January 6 committee, pointing out that it violated its own rules when rejecting the Republican nominees to serve on the committee, and arguing that it is therefor invalid under the House’s own enabling resolution.

Cheney and Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL), who avowedly anti-Trump representatives, are the only Republican members on the committee, and neither was approved by House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), as required by the rules.

Rwanda is so far the only country to have successfully implemented paragraph 6.

The African nation has satisfied all WTO requirements to import an HIV treatment that is protected by international patents. The drug, named Apo-TriAvir, was developed by the Canadian generic drug firm Apotex, which saw a potentially growing market in compulsory licensing. Apo-TriAvir is a formulation consisting of 300 mg of zidovudine, or AZT; 150 mg of the GlaxoSmithKline drug lamivudine; and 200 mg of the Boehringer Ingelheim drug nevirapine.

Elie Betito, a spokesman for Apotex, says it was a frustrating two-and-half-year ordeal for his company to win the various approvals it needed to qualify as a supplier to Rwanda. Apotex had to comply with Canada’s Access to Medicines Regime, a set of regulations Canada adopted in 2005 to harmonize its laws with paragraph 6.

“It’s a process that the branded drug companies can stop at any time,” Betito says. “We had to deal with three companies, and they had to give approval at every step.” Apotex eventually secured approval to ship a fixed quantity of Apo-TriAvir to Rwanda. But it can’t ship more of the product even if Rwanda indicates that it needs more, Betito adds.

Apotex, a privately owned firm, plans to sell its drug to Rwanda at cost, Betito says.

But even though the firm incurred expenses in developing a formulation that specifically meets Rwandan needs, he says it is not guaranteed to get the order. Now that all the approvals have been secured by Rwanda and Canada, he adds, the order is going through a tendering process despite the fact that Apotex is the only company in the world to make the drug cocktail.

Betito says he finds it incomprehensible that the process enabling Apotex to ship a much-needed drug to a poor country is so complicated. “If 3,000 people per day were dying in Canada from a particular disease, we would not have to go through the rigmarole of lawyers talking to each other seemingly endlessly about getting the drugs,” he says. “Government would do something about it.”

Multiple killers played a role in the deaths of Barry and Honey Sherman — contrary to the widely-circulated murder-suicide theory initially leaked by law enforcement, sources told CBC News, citing a parallel probe by a team of investigators hired by the couple’s family.

A real estate agent who was selling the $5.4 million home had discovered pharmaceutical mogul Barry, 75, and Honey, 70, dead on Dec. 15.

Barry and Honey Sherman were connected to the Clinton family.

Barry Sherman founded Apotex pharmaceutical company.

Apotex supplied generic drugs to Clinton foundation in Haiti and Rwanda.

Apotex also donated medicines and supplies to Clinton Foundation Puerto Rican relief efforts in 2017.

We all know what really happened to the money and supplies donated via the Clinton Foundation to Haiti and other disaster zones.

Only 5.7% of the funds donated to the Clinton Foundation to help Haiti actually made it into Haitian hands for rebuilding the country.

There is currently no evidence to suggest Barry and Honey Sherman were aware of any corruption, or that they were debating going public with more of the sordid details involving this “non-profit” money laundering organization. But what we do know, is that the money never arrived and that any whistleblower or Haitian government official who previously tried to speak out about this has wound-up dead.
