Spring was 'computer hell' - 2 new machines within weeks. I still need to figure out what to do about graphics programs....but other than that, working fine. I had to move it though, wasn't working before. I have an unusual setup so i can sit on couch w/reclining seat and use a desktop w/large screen extended from bookshelt to the side. Need that for back support and lots of options for moving around. But have to be a little ingenious with the setup.

Potato Watch Live: Biden Gloats About Strong October Jobs Numbers

After Tuesday's electoral drubbing in an off-year election, Democrats need to seize on something, anything, positive that they can use to try and reverse the sag in President Biden's agenda.

Well, after this morning's jobs number, President Biden looks to be doing just that by delivering "remarks" on a number that was stronger than expected. As we noted earlier, after two months of dismal job reports, the BLS finally redeemed itself when moments ago it reported that in October the US gained some 531K jobs, well above the 450K consensus exp and above the 500K whisper number. The gain in payrolls was also bigger than all but 10 of the 75 forecasts in Bloomberg’s survey. As Bloomberg calculates, if payroll gains stay at the same pace as October’s, in eight months the total payroll figure would be back at its record high.... that’s also when the Fed would be finished zeroing-out QE, placing a higher likelihood on a hike in July, before the midterms.

That could be very, very problematic for the Dems in an election where they risk facing embarrassing losses in Congress.

Biden's remarks also come as Dems push ahead with votes on the infrastructure bill and the accompanying spending plan.

We on the boards have certain kinds of problems based on our priorities (researching, archiving, communicating findings); site owners have problems of a whole different order. We know about things like congressional inquiries (which are really thinly-veiled threads) and the refusal of other businesses to do business with 8kun, but there is probably more. And unlike anons, Watkins family is in the open. JW or those who work for him can be targeted in any number of ways.

The work we do is important and is recognized as such. But there is a delicate balancing act between what is desirable and what is possible. And it's always changing.

Thanks to all anons for specific feedback because that certainly helps 8kun mgmt understand the implications of any mitigation efforts (or other changes).

Fiona Hill, The Durham Investigation And The Steele Dossier

The probe by John Durham into the Steele Dossier/Russian Collusion has gained another player. Russian Nationalist Igor Danchenko was served and appeared in court for the first time. Interestingly, Fiona Hill, a key witness in Impeachment 1.0 of President Donald Trump, is at the center of the tangled web of intrigue.

The web spun by the Hillary Clinton campaign in 2016 is such a tangled mess that it is difficult to suss it out. Last month, John Durham’s investigation indicted Michael Sussmann for lying to the FBI. Sussman went to the FBI as an independent, concerned citizen with alleged information about Donald Trump and the Russian Alfa Bank. Sussamann was a lawyer for Perkins Coie.

Then comes the Danchenko indictment, which you can read here. In the indictment, Sussmann is PR Executive-1. PR Executive-1 (Sussmann) was introduced to Igor Danchenko by Think Tank Employee-1. Who is Think Tank Employee-1?

Let’s take a look at Fiona Hill. Fiona Hill was on Trump’s National Security Council as his Russia expert. When not “serving” in the government, Dr. Fiona Hill is employed by the think tank, The Brookings Institute. Hill has known Danchenko for a long time. In 2010, they wrote a report together, One Step Forward, Two Steps Back? The Realities of a Rising China and Implications for Russia’s Energy Ambitions.

But wait, there’s more. According to the Daily Wire back in January 20, 2021, Fiona Hill was the link between Igor Danchenko and Christopher Steele. Danchenko allegedly fed the salacious lies in the Steele Dossier to Christopher Steele, (U.K. Investigative Firm-1 contractor):

Fiona Hill, a top Russia expert in the Trump administration, was the person who introduced former British spy Christopher Steele to a former think tank analyst who would serve as the primary source for an infamous dossier he compiled on President Donald Trump, according to newly declassified FBI notes.

Hill, who was the director for Russia and Eurasia on the National Security Council during most of the Trump administration, introduced Steele in 2011 to Igor Danchenko, according to a summary of Steele’s interviews with the FBI in September 2017.

Hill kept secret her role introducing Steele and Danchenko all throughout her tenure in the Trump administration, as well as during congressional testimony she gave as part of the Trump impeachment hearings in November 2019.

Let me get this straight. Eleven years ago, Fiona Hill introduced Christopher Steele to Igor Danchenko. Hill (Think Tank Employee-1) then introduced Igor Danchenko to Michael Sussmann (PR Executive-1). You have got to be kidding me?

Fiona Hill, the U.S. National Security Council’s former Russia point-person, excoriated Republican members of Congress at the impeachment inquiry into U.S. President Donald Trump for promoting a theory that Ukraine, not Russia, meddled in the 2016 election.

“This is a fictional narrative that has been perpetrated and propagated by the Russian security services themselves,” Hill warned. “I would ask that you please not promote politically driven falsehoods that so clearly advance Russian interests.”

Devin Nunes, the top Republican on the panel, fired back that “it’s entirely possible for two separate nations to engage in election meddling at the same time.”

At the centre of the hearings is whether Trump pressed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to investigate his political rivals, including former vice-president Joe Biden, by withholding US$400-million in military aid. Today’s session also included testimony from diplomat David Holmes.

The ‘debunked’ Ukraine narrative, which Devin Nunes and other right-wing buffoons have advanced, is the handiwork of a serious adversary.

In his opening statements to each of the public hearings that took place last week in the House Intelligence Committee’s impeachment inquiry, ranking member Devin Nunes (R-California) repeatedly put forth a vituperative and unintentionally farcical conspiracy theory. It was Ukraine, not Russia, he alleged, that hacked the email of the Democratic National Committee during the 2016 presidential campaign.

Like any red-blooded liberal, I took some pleasure in the pointing and laughing Nunes endured during his bloviations (summed up by this cartoon in particular). However clownish his efforts appear, they are in fact a form of warfare that the Russian Federation is waging against the United States. The conspiracy theory being advanced by Nunes and his coalition of willing Republicans was hatched by the Russian intelligence agency known as the GRU; it’s information warfare designed to aid in the destabilization of U.S. political and governmental institutions. The Federal Bureau of Investigation has explained this to Nunes and comrades, but they don’t care. They prefer Russia’s concocted narrative, despite the risk it poses to their own country.

To many liberals, the preposterousness of the conspiracy theory and the absurd antics of those who advance it suggest that its sheer ridiculousness cancels out any danger it may pose. But we would be mistaken to merely point and laugh at the dangerous claims being made by the right.
