A new filing in the Michael Sussmann case has revealed the depth of Special Counsel John Durham’s investigation. It doesn’t look good for former DNC lawyer (and former Perkins Coie partner) Sussmann or for the group that pushed the Alfa Bank/Trump hoax.
Special Counsel Durham has filed an opposition to Michael Sussmann’s motion for a bill of particulars. (To summarize, Durham argues that the 27-page speaking indictment against Sussmann “more than adequately” informs him of the charges he is facing.) Read it here.
What’s really notable about the motion is that Durham discloses the volumes of evidence to be produced to Sussmann and the number of entities and people Durham has subpoenaed.
According to this latest filing, Special Counsel Durham has produced “more than 6,000 documents, comprising approximately 81,000 pages” to Sussmann. This includes “documents received in response to grand jury subpoenas issued to fifteen separate individuals, entities, and organizations – including among others, political organizations, a university, university researchers, an investigative firm, and numerous companies.”
Let’s decipher that last sentence. Who has received a subpoena from Durham?
“Political organizations” likely refer to the DNC and the Hillary Clinton Campaign/Hillary for America.
“A university” = Georgia Tech.
“University Researchers” = the team involved in the Alfa Bank/Trump hoax.
“An investigative firm” = Fusion GPS.
“Numerous companies” = the companies involved with Rodney Joffe (named Tech Executive-1 in the Sussmann indictment).
As we have previously observed, Durham was already in possession of:
E-mail records from Joffe, the research group, and Sussmann/Perkins Coie.
Perkins Coie billing records.
Perkins Coie records (notes, etc.) relating to calls and meetings re: Alfa Bank.

And that’s just on the Alfa Bank issue. (Durham apparently remains focused on the broader FISA issues as well as other matters.) The filing also notes that Durham is “working expeditiously to declassify large volumes of materials to provide to the defense.” This includes:
But there’s still more. Durham states after the production of these records, “the government expects to produce additional materials in subsequent productions, which will include additional interview memoranda, emails, and other records.”
Why this matters.
We anticipate that Durham is gearing-up to charge the group that created and pushed the Trump/Alfa Bank hoax. This is based on the volume of information Durham possesses on this issue, which reflects substantial expenditures of time and energy and resources to put all this together. In other words, you don’t call the grand jury on this issue - and pursue this matter this far - if the Alfa Bank researchers acted properly.
But if we are correct that the Alfa Bank researchers acted improperly – if the Trump/Alfa Bank data was manipulated – exactly how did they do it? An Ankura report from 2020 has thoughts on what went down:
This theory of manipulating the data is consistent with the communications revealed in the Sussmann indictment, where a member of the Alfa Bank “research” team explained that it would be possible to:
“fill out a sales form on two websites, faking the other company’s email address in each form,” and thereby cause them “to appear to communicate with each other in DNS.”
It also puts into context the August 22, 2016 observation from Researcher-1: “How do we plan to defend against the criticism that this is not spoofed [] traffic we are observing? There is no answer to that.”
If this is the case, then Sussmann faces more serious legal consequences than a simple false statement charge. He didn’t just take their information to the FBI and later to the CIA.
Instead, it was Sussmann who spent long hours drafting the “white paper” that summarized and explained the purported Trump/Alfa Bank links. This white paper was produced to FBI General Counsel Baker on September 19, 2016. And it was Sussmann who provided “new details concerning the [Alfa Bank] allegations” to the CIA in February 2017. Details that ultimately proved false.
This leads to the potential for potential obstruction (18 USC 1503) or conspiracy charges. As we have stated, for some of this group (Joffe and some of the Georgia Tech researchers) there might be charges relating to the misuse of classified government data from DARPA.
Reconsidering CrowdStrike.
I leave you with one last thought. Aaron Mate has a great piece over at RCP discussing the history of DNC lawyers from Perkins Coie – Michael Sussmann and Marc Elias – in furthering the allegations, made through CrowdStrike, that Russians hacked the DNC.
For background, Crowdstrike was retained by Perkins Coie on May 2, 2016 on behalf of their client, the DNC (and really the Hillary Clinton campaign) to assist Perkins Coie in “providing legal advice or related legal services to Firm Clients [DNC/Hillary].”
What event triggered the retention of CrowdStrike? In late April 2016, the DNC noticed suspicious behavior on its network. They contacted Sussmann at Perkins Coie, who then got the help of old friend Shawn Henry at Crowdstrike. “Within the day, the CrowdStrike team concluded that the intruders were Russian government operatives.”
In light of Michael Sussmann’s indictment and the apparent attempt by those working on behalf of the DNC to push the false Alfa Bank hoax on the FBI – consider whether the deception started earlier.
There have long been suspicions of CrowdStrike as being the entity that manipulated data showing Russians allegedly hacked the DNC/Clinton servers and extracted the e-mails.

Biocompatible Soft Material Actuator for Compliant Medical Robots Abstract:
Robots from material-based actuators offer high potential for small-scale robots with abilities hardly achievable by classical methods like electric motors.
Besides excellent scaling to minimally invasive systems, allowing for omission of metallic components, such robots can be applied in imaging modalities
such as MRI or CT.
To allow for higher accessibility in this field of research, a facile method for fabrication of such soft actuators was developed.
It comprises only two materials: graphene oxide and silicone elastomer.
The facile fabrication method does not require specialized equipment.
The resulting actuator is biocompatible and controllable by light mediated heat.
The bending motion can be controlled by the intensity of applied infrared light and the actuator was experimentally shown to move five times its own weight.
Thus, providing capabilities for a medical soft robotic actuator.

But one hedge fund that was already invested in the SPAC prior to the deal announcement sold its more than two million shares shortly after the deal was announced, citing a conflict in values. Saba Capital, a $3.5 billion hedge fund run by Boaz Weinstein, told the New York Times that after learning of the Trump deal, his firm sold most of its stake in Digital World in the early morning. Saba Capital owned 2.4 million shares of Digital World, and likely owned public warrants in the SPAC, which soared more than 2,000% on Thursday.
"Many investors are grappling with hard questions about how to incorporate their values into their work," Weinstein said. "For us, this was not a close call."

Russia’s central bank raised its key interest rate by more than expected to 7.5% on Friday, sparking a rally in the rouble, and signalled further increases as inflation showed little sign of slowing.
The central bank, which targets inflation at 4%, raised rates for the sixth time this year to tame the highest inflation since early 2016, brushing off concerns that higher rates could harm businesses with more expensive borrowing. The decision to raise the rate by 75 basis points sent the rouble beyond 70 versus the dollar to levels last seen in June 2020. It also surprised the market which had on average expected the bank would opt for 50 bps after raising rates by 25 bps in September. “This is a significant increase and, obviously, this is not a fine-tuning exercise,” Governor Elvira Nabiullina said, presenting the rate move. Confirming the bank’s readiness to fight inflation further, Nabiullina said the board also considered a 100 bps hike on Friday and such a step could not be ruled out in the future.
High inflation dents living standards and has been one of the key concerns among households, prompting authorities to offer social support payments that can in turn spur inflation further. Higher rates help tame consumer inflation by pushing up lending costs and increasing the appeal of bank deposits.
The central bank revised its year-end inflation forecast to 7.4-7.9% from 5.7-6.2% but said it was on track to return to 4.0-4.5% in 2022.

Putin: Not All OPEC+ Producers Can Ramp Up Output Quickly
Although the OPEC+ alliance is currently ramping up its collective crude oil production slightly above what they had agreed on, not all members of the group can quickly raise their output, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at an event on Thursday.
“Currently, the OPEC+ countries are increasing production volumes, even slightly more than they agreed to do, but not everyone can do it,” Putin said at an economic discussion on Thursday, as carried by Russian news agency TASS. “Not all oil-producing countries are able to quickly increase oil production. This is a long-term process, a long cycle,” the Russian president added. The OPEC+ group, in which Russia is the key non-OPEC partner, decided earlier this month to proceed with increasing the coalition’s overall oil production by 400,000 bpd—the minimum the market was expecting.
However, for several months now, some OPEC+ members—including OPEC’s Angola and Nigeria and non-OPEC’s Azerbaijan—have struggled to raise their oil production to the highest possible level allowed under the deal. The struggles have come from technical issues, a lack of investments, and lower exploration efforts in recent years. OPEC+ saw its overall compliance with the collective oil production cuts at 115 percent in September, a delegate told Argus on Monday. The September compliance rate was down from the 116-percent compliance in August, but still higher than the market had hoped, with some members of the alliance failing to ramp up production in line with their quotas.
The high compliance rate despite the monthly easing of the cuts by 400,000 bpd suggests that not all members of the pact are capable of raising supply as quickly as their quotas under the deal stipulate.

Time for Fed to taper bond purchases but not to raise rates, Powell says
Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell on Friday said the U.S. central bank should start the process of reducing its support of the economy by cutting back on its asset purchases, but should not yet touch the interest rate dial.
“I do think it’s time to taper; I don’t think it’s time to raise rates,” Powell said in a virtual appearance before a conference, noting that there are still five million fewer U.S. jobs now than there were before the coronavirus pandemic. He also reiterated his view that high inflation will likely abate next year as pressures from the pandemic fade.
“We think we can be patient and allow the labor market to heal,” he said.
The Fed has promised to keep its benchmark overnight interest rate at the current near-zero level until the economy has returned to full employment and inflation has reached the central bank’s 2% goal and is on track to stay moderately above that level for some time.
It’s “very possible” the Fed’s full employment goal could be met next year, Powell said on Friday, if supply-chain constraints ease as expected and the service sector opens more fully, allowing job growth to speed back up. Job gains slowed sharply in August and September as COVID-19 cases surged.
Still, it’s not a certainty, and if inflation - already higher and lasting longer than initially expected - moves persistently upward, the Fed would “certainly” act, he said.

1. He was given live rounds. Live rounds, as in bullets with gunpowder behind them aren’t allowed on set because they can’t be used. Let me repeat that. THEY CAN’T BE USED. The only rounds that are allowed are dummy rounds(no gunpowder) and blank rounds(no bullets.) There is no way a live round would make it to set because it wouldn’t have been purchased or stored in the first place. This would only happen if a crime is being committed.
2. Virtually no one nowadays uses blank firing during day scenes. This is because you can’t see the muzzle flash in the day time. You would just fire the revolver and let it cycle. It is pretty much completely unheard of nowadays and for good reason. Insurance is purchased for films and every single thing is scrutinized before it is approved. If you have something that is risky in the slightest, you pay thousands of dollars more for it and the studio tells you upfront to make the cheaper decision.
3. When firing a gun on set, the hired weapons expert, armorer, prop master, or other crew member loads blanks into it. It is damn near impossible to load a series of blanks and also a live round in a six shooter revolver without noticing. Any fucking idiot would hold six bullets in their hand and realize that five of them have no bullet attached to them and one of them does. It’s like holding six dicks in your hand and only one of them has a dickhead. It’s impossible not to notice.

4. It is extremely rare that an actor would aim a gun at a crew member. Actors aim guns at other actors or at empty spaces. Even if they are pointing the gun at the camera, the cinematographer and director are not directly behind the camera or in the way of the gun, they are off to the side looking at the monitors. Even if the camera is moving and the cinematographer is behind it, it is still extremely rare that the actor would aim a gun at them due to all the other angles they could be aiming at. It is a very rare alignment that does not occur.
5. The press are misleading you on purpose. They keep saying he was given a prop gun. A prop gun is a gun that can’t fire bullets. Only a real gun can fire real bullets. He was given a real gun which was a six shooter revolver. They are saying prop gun for a reason. They are trying to diminish the fact that this was a crime.
6. The death falls in line with an occult practice of art predicting death.
Alec is in a movie where he plays a man trying to help his grandson who committed an accidental murder.
Brandon Lee was in a film where he played a man who gets shot and killed and resurrected.
Heath Ledger played a rebooted version of same character that got killed and resurrected.
(Heath Ledger played a character that was directly inspired by The Crow. The Joker. David Goyer and Chris Nolan admitted that The Joker’s entire look and make-up, the way he goes into the gangster meeting, the knives he chooses, the fire symbols and a lot more are directly ripped from The Crow.)

Texas Republicans approved redrawn U.S. House maps that favor incumbents and decrease political representation for growing minority communities,
even as Latinos drive much of the growth in the nation’s largest red state.
The maps were approved late Monday night following outcry from Democrats over what they claimed was a rushed redistricting process crammed into a 30-day session,
and one which gave little time for public input. They also denounced the reduction of minority opportunity districts
– Texas will now have seven House districts where Latino residents hold a majority, down from eight
– despite the state’s changing demographics.
“What we are doing in passing this congressional map is a disservice to the people of Texas,”
Democratic state Rep. Rafael Anchia said to the chamber just before the final vote.

Kamala Harris’ NYC speech interrupted by shouting man
A protester shouted at Vice President Kamala Harris during her speech in The Bronx Friday about the Biden administration’s Build It Back Better agenda — blaming the city’s outdated infrastructure on the drowning deaths of 13 New Yorkers.
Harris was talking about elements of the plan, saying it was about “being better on climate” and supporting working families when a man in the audience at the Edenwald YMCA in the northeast Bronx stood up and interrupted her remarks. “…Drowned in Queens. It could have been prevented if we had the right infrastructure,” the heckler yelled. He was apparently referring to the 13 people who died last month from Hurricane Ida floodwaters, including 11 who drowned in basements.
City officials have blamed the tragedies on an outdated sewer system that couldn’t handle the torrential rainfall. “You are right brother,” Harris replied from the podium. “I know you are. And how about you and I talk about that,” she said before he interrupted her again, this time shouting about China’s Belt and Road initiative.
Harris plowed ahead, saying, “I’m happy to talk to you but right now let’s talk about the agenda.” Then Secret Service agents ushered him out of the room.
