♦Which circles back to the catch-22: Canada, the U.K and Europe are all facing the same problem…. MONEY! Where are they going to come up with the funds to pay for a military investment they have declined to make for the past 50+ years?

It’s not just an issue of finding funds for a standing military, hardware, ships, submarines, aircraft, tanks, heavy and light artillery, missiles and drones etc., they also have to fund the technological capabilities to use and deploy modern weapons.

They need advanced manufacturing, steel works, technological guidance systems, large numbers of strategically placed satellites, a space program that includes rockets to put them into orbit, and much, much more.

At scale this is multiple trillions, and that doesn’t include the baseline manufacturing systems needed to create all this independent infrastructure.

It’s one thing to say, ‘we will build out our military capacity’, and it’s another thing entirely to actually build it.

Does Canada or Europe even have the human resources (engineering) to create all this infrastructure? Think about it. Then overlay three decades of an energy ideology that expressly limits their capability to even follow through with such an endeavor.

When you really stand back and look at the required level of investment needed, in addition to the time it takes to build all of the ancillary processes that are required to meet such an expressed objective, it really puts the position of the Canadian, British and European opposition to President Trump into context.

What is more feasible? Doing what is required to build-out your own military defense systems; or is it simply easier to get rid of the person who stops you from using the USA as your standing army?

25+ years of Global Warming, Climate Change, Net Zero, Carbon Trading, Carbon Taxing, Build Back Better etc. advocacy, revolves around the singularity of one issue, energy production.

From that baseline the western nemesis of a multi-trillion investment and banking system, built around the destruction of the coal, oil and gas carbon-based energy sector is Russia.

Additionally, over the past 10 years as western interests have stopped building oil refining capacity, Russia has expanded oil refining capacity.

All ‘modern’ opposition to Russia in the last 25 years, is now culminating…. But the root is something everyone misses. The root commonality of interests is Energy Production and the carbon-trading schemes.

The advocates for the system of dependencies created by the “climate change/net zero” energy processes are the same advocates who have created carbon-trading exchanges. And those same advocates supporting Ukraine are specifically supporting the targeting of Russian energy production vis-a-vis Russian oil refineries.

The British, European and Canadian climate change group (ideology, banking and finance) – what Mark Carney called the “middle powers” – versus the USA, Russia, China, Mexico, South/Central America, Southeast Asia and the Middle East. That’s an interesting geopolitical contest.

You might remember thatboth the U.S and Russia spoke of strategic partnerships surrounding the energy sector. There are two competing interests that overlap in the financial side of the issue, the ‘trillions at stake’ aspect.

On one side you have the “climate change” team, those who are fully invested (literally) in the financial mechanisms of the climate change, green new deal, build back better talking points. The Green Energy team in the west. The Paris Climate Treaty and carbon-trading proponents et al.

On the other side you have the pragmatic energy team in the west. These are the Trump-minded and aligned western perspectives that look at oil, natural gas (LNG), clean coal and nuclear technology. These are the “all the above” aligned voices in the more pragmatic view of low-cost energy production and development.

In the middle, between both sides of the fracture, are the banking and finance systems. This is the BIG MONEY play, with the Climate Change team supported by banking ideology inside the city of London, while the Carbon Use team is constantly having to assemble finance and insurance from outside the banking control mechanisms.

The Climate Change team have support based on ideology within the finance system. However, the Carbon Use team have the advantage of low-price outputs, global dependency and actual profits as leverage. This is a fight essentially inside the larger energy sector, and we are all very familiar with it because it has been happening for decades.

Emergency services were dispatched to the runway.

A Wizz Air flight that had departed from the UK was disrupted by a bomb threat. The passenger plane was travelling from London to Sofia, Bulgaria when it abandoned its original route and made an emergency landing at Budapest's Ferenc Liszt International Airport on Monday. The Airbus A321neo had taken off from London Luton Airport at around 8.30am before reportedly turning towards Budapest while flying over Bosnia and Herzegovina. A Hungarian Gripen fighter jet was scrambled to escort the aircraft after NATO's air defence readiness service issued an ALPHA alert. The plane landed safely on runway two shortly after midday, with firefighters, police and counter-terrorism officers waiting at the airport as it came in to land.

Hungarian outlet Index reported that the plane touched down at 12.08pm before being parked in bay B5, where emergency services were in attendance.

Wizz Air confirmed to Hungarian news outlet 24.hu that the London Luton-Sofia flight had been diverted to Budapest after receiving a bomb threat during the flight.

The airline said the diversion was made for the safety of passengers and crew and that the aircraft landed safely at Liszt Ferenc International Airport "in accordance with applicable safety regulations and procedures".

The plane then taxied to a designated parking area, where the relevant authorities were carrying out the necessary security checks on the aircraft and passengers.

A spokesperson for the airline added: "Wizz Air is fully cooperating with the authorities and the safety of passengers and crew remains its top priority."

Runway two was closed while authorities dealt with the incident, with other arriving and departing traffic using the airport's other runway.

A report cited by Index said: "Runway two is closed, all arriving and departing traffic is using the other runway. The flight was escorted in Hungarian airspace by Gripens of the Hungarian Defense Forces in accordance with the applicable regulations."

Hungarian Defence Minister Romulusz Ruszin-Szendi also reacted to the bomb threat on Facebook, saying the country's air defence readiness service had "once again proven itself in a critical situation".

He said: "The NATO air defense readiness service issued an ALPHA alert.

"The Hungarian Air Force's Gripen aircraft took to the air within minutes and ensured the landing of the passenger aircraft in Budapest."

Mr Ruszin-Szendi said the fighter aircraft then returned to its base in Kecskemét, while police took over subsequent measures.

Hackers pushed freezers at hundreds of French supermarkets to 122 degrees. Now the Pentagon is asking whether the same thing hit U.S. military bases | Sasha Rogelberg, Fortune

The Pentagon’s criminal investigators are leading a joint probe into freezer failures at U.S. military commissaries in August, and four officials told Reuters this week that the Pentagon is treating them as a possible cyberattack. It comes weeks after hackers took over the refrigeration controls at hundreds of French supermarkets overnight.

There’s no proof yet that the two are connected, or that the commissary failures were a hack at all. But the same kind of target experienced the same type of outage within about two months of each other, which is enough to raise the eyebrows of Christopher Whyte, an associate professor of homeland security and emergency preparedness at Virginia Commonwealth University.

“You’d be silly not to be suspicious,” he told Fortune.

For the stores, the damage can’t be undone: Two supermarkets, Intermarché and http://E.Leclerc, reported an estimated €270,000, about $300,000 in combined stock damages, according to local news outlet Sud Ouest.

“Refrigerators give an attacker a weirdly direct route…to financial loss that’s, with cyber, unusually irreversible,” Whyte said. “You can’t unspoil food or other products from these freezers. It’s just Euros and dollars down the drain.”

Napoleon Bonaparte, the French military general who met an infamous defeat in Russia after overextending his supplies, is credited as saying, “An army marches on its stomach.”

The aphorism, also attributed to Prussian King Frederick the Great, refers to the necessity of food and basic logistics for a military campaign’s success. It’s not surprising, then, that refrigeration may be the next frontier of widespread cybersecurity attacks.

Earlier this month, hackers targeted hundreds of French supermarkets, raising the temperature of their refrigeration and freezer systems overnight to more than 122 degrees Fahrenheit, spoiling food and causing fires. The affected grocery stores included 80 Carrefour locations, about two-dozen Monoprix stores, and 150 Intermarche stores. The Paris prosecutor’s office called the outages a “large-scale” attack. Similar outages were reported across Europe.

The Pentagon’s investigation—and a partnership with French authorities to probe the French supermarket outages—followed a series of refrigerator outages across several U.S. military commissaries in August. More than a half-dozen commissaries were impacted by the disruption, including in Fort Irwin, California; Holloman Air Force Base, New Mexico; Naval Station Newport, Rhode Island; Little Rock Air Force Base, Arkansas; F.E. Warren Air Force Base, Wyoming; Robins Air Force Base, Georgia; and Fort Huachuca, Arizona, the Military Times reported at the time. Commissaries typically offer subsidized goods to those living on military bases, costing about 25% less than civilian grocery stores.

The Substack Signal and Silence was first to report the possibility that outages were a result of a hack.

The Pentagon confirmed the Defense Criminal Investigative Service, the criminal investigative arm of the agency’s Office of Inspector General, is leading a joint investigation into the outages, but said in a statement to Fortune, “For security reasons, we do not comment on ongoing law enforcement investigations.”

Cyber incidents, particularly targeting corporations and government agencies, have been on the rise over the last two decades, including more than a dozen major attacks this September alone, according to the Center for Strategic and International Studies. Cybercrime is projected to cost the global economy $10.8 trillion this year, according to Cybersecurity Ventures, more than triple the $3 trillion it cost in 2015. Rapidly developing AI capabilities have made hacking more sophisticated, while the number of appliances attached to the internet have created more targets.

The cold, hard truths of the new era of cyberattacks

Cybersecurity experts believe it was only a matter of time before practical appliances like refrigerators became the target of cyberattacks. Nadiya Kostyuk, an assistant professor at the Carnegie Mellon Institute for Strategy and Technology, told Fortune it was an ongoing joke among her cohort to discuss when their home fridges would be hacked.

“I’m surprised that it took so long,” she said.

“A lot of these devices have a lot of really cool features, but the security is not the first priority for them,” Kostyuk added. “Hopefully future inventions will come with more security in mind when it comes to the design, and the existing ones also will be revisited to incorporate all the potential vectors of the cyberattacks.”

In the case of the outages in France, the vulnerabilities originated from access to the Danish-made Danfoss AK-SM, AK-SC series remote controllers for refrigeration systems, as well as Copeland xweb and Dixell xweb, according to an alert bulletin published by French authorities, and affected units were running outdated firmware hackers could exploit by accessing the devices through the internet.

More broadly, refrigeration systems present vulnerabilities because many of the devices are similar across commercial chains, and identifying an exposure in one means hackers can generalize that exposure to other systems, according to Whyte.

Beyond the accessibility of refrigeration systems, the consequences of outages yield practical consequences, which can make them appealing targets for hackers who want to make a statement or take a financial jab at a victim.

The U.S. military theater is vulnerable to emblematic attacks on supply stores as well. The USS Abraham Lincoln, which had a record deployment of 265 uninterrupted days at sea before it docked in San Diego earlier this month, became a symbol of weaknesses in U.S. military amenities. During its Iran war mission, the crew faced poor morale and mental health, including as a result of food and hygiene supply shortage.

Liberté, égalité, réfrigérite

Gregory Winger, an assistant professor of international relations and cybersecurity at University of Maryland, Baltimore County, told Fortune that actors from Russia, China, Iran, and North Korea typically rely on cyberincidents that appear random but are actually connected.

Allied countries have built partnerships for the express reason of identifying and sharing the techniques of hackers, particularly NATO’s Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) in Mons, Belgium, which is the body’s cybersecurity headquarters. Significant attacks can trigger NATO’s invocation of Article 5, a collective defense that defines a threat against one country as an effective threat against the body’s 32 members. Regardless if the outages in the U.S. military commissaries were from the same actor as the French supermarket outages, the U.S. was strategic to launch a joint investigation with France purely from an information-sharing standpoint, Winger argued.

“Right now,” he said, “every future military operation is going to have a cyber component to it.”

In intelligence terminology, this touches on the idea of cover and plausible explanation.

There is an important distinction, though: the public event might provide the context for a private meeting, but that doesn't mean the public appearance itself is necessarily a deliberately constructed cover operation.

# Why a public Q&A could be useful

Imagine two individuals:

- One is a former intelligence officer from Country A.

- The other is a serving intelligence official from Country B.

- They have a professional relationship that would attract attention if they were seen arranging a private meeting.

Both are invited to headline a conference panel.

Their presence together now has an entirely legitimate explanation.

There are several interesting dimensions:

1. A legitimate reason to meet

Nobody needs to invent an elaborate explanation for why they're in the same building. They're both conference speakers.

2. Public visibility

Their interaction is visible, but that doesn't necessarily mean its significance is understood. An audience sees two professionals discussing international affairs.

3. Professional familiarity

A friendly conversation between two senior figures isn't particularly remarkable at an international conference.

4. A natural opportunity for further conversation

The conference creates an environment in which attendees can socialise, network and continue discussions outside the formal programme.

Activist Judge Boasberg’s Order Blows Up on CHIRLA — Immigrant Rights Group Faces Sanctions and Possible Criminal Contempt After Experts Abused Restricted Access to DOJ’s 20,000 Noncitizen Voter List

Obama-appointed U.S. District Chief Judge James E. Boasberg, long criticized as a “Radical Left Lunatic of a Judge,” gave the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights (CHIRLA) and its UCLA Voting Rights Project allies tightly restricted access to the Trump Department of Justice’s list of more than 20,000 people federal investigators flagged as likely noncitizens who received mail ballots in California.

The court order was crystal clear: the data was for standing arguments only. Plaintiffs could not disclose names and could not use the information for broader political or media attacks on the government’s election-integrity efforts.

That restriction lasted roughly 24 hours.

On Friday, October 30, Boasberg ordered the DOJ to turn over the list by 5 p.m. so CHIRLA could check whether any of its members appeared on it for purposes of standing in their lawsuit seeking to block the administration’s actions.

By Saturday, CHIRLA’s experts, UCLA political scientist Matt Barreto and data scientist Michael Rios, had filed a supplemental declaration.

Their analysis claimed that roughly 42% of the names (about 8,880 out of 20,930) did not appear on California’s current voter file, that at least 22 people on the list were likely naturalized U.S. citizens, and that thousands more citizens may have been flagged.

They went further, extrapolating to statewide impacts and criticizing the list’s methodology, completeness, missing fields, and potential false positives on a scale that reached hundreds of thousands of naturalized citizens.

The filing highlighted these broader findings rather than limiting itself to whether specific CHIRLA members or the named plaintiff had standing.

Those conclusions quickly appeared in media reports from the Associated Press, Democracy Docket, and others, generating headlines that portrayed the DOJ list as riddled with errors and a threat to eligible voters.

On Sunday, November 1, the Justice Department filed a pointed response. DOJ attorneys argued that the experts’ work, particularly paragraphs opining on the list’s overall accuracy, completeness, errors, and statewide effects, had “nothing to do with the group’s legal standing” and violated Boasberg’s October 30 Minute Order, according to investigative reporter Jennifer Van Laar.

They described the report as “political grandstanding about alleged inaccuracies that purportedly impact California voters generally,” with “no relevance to whether the particular plaintiffs in this case have standing.”

The government asked the court to strike the offending portions of the expert declaration, order CHIRLA to show cause why it did not violate the order, impose civil sanctions (including the possibility of dismissing the complaint), and consider referring the matter to the Department of Justice for investigation into possible criminal contempt of court under 18 U.S.C. § 401. DOJ further requested that plaintiffs certify compliance with the non-disclosure restrictions and identify any communications with third parties or the media about the restricted material.

“Plaintiffs’ choice to use the list for purposes other than to establish their standing appears calculated to stir up media criticism, unfairly prejudicing the government, and countermanding this Court’s express limitations.”

Boasberg ordered CHIRLA to respond to the motion by 9 a.m. Monday, November 2. A UCLA Voting Rights Project spokesman told reporters that “Plaintiffs’ counsel and their experts fully complied with the Court’s orders,” but the DOJ filing makes clear the government views the broader analysis and its rapid appearance in the press as a direct breach.

On Friday, the fraudulent Democrat campaign operation against incumbent Senator Dan S. Sullivan was all over the airwaves. At the same time, Alaska voters received a deceptive and dishonest mailer pushing the fraudulent Sullivan candidate inserted into the election.

As we previously reported, Hillary Clinton’s corrupt former Chief Counsel for her losing 2016 campaign was Marc Elias. He was involved in her corrupt election and then was involved in the stolen 2020 election by pushing mail-in ballots across the country. He’s also implicated in the fake Sullivan candidate operation.

President Trump shared a message on the “Fake” Sullivan on Sunday:

The Fake Daniel J. Sullivan, Jr., has DISAPPEARED! Nobody can find him, including Law Enforcement. It turns out that as we were learning about this fraudulent election operation involving the Democrats, mailers were sent to Alaskan voters listing the candidates in the Alaska Senate race but omitting the real GOP Senator Dan S. Sullivan. Fake Dan J. Sullivan was listed instead.

Both sides of the mailer omit the current Senator’s name and only list the fake Dan J. Sullivan.

A Long Cloud on Mars

What’s causing this unusually long cloud on Mars? Known as the Arsia Mons Elongated Cloud (AMEC) and first recorded by NASA’s Viking Orbiter 2 in 1977, the strange cloud has been imaged in greater detail more recently by ESA’s robotic Mars Express spacecraft. The featured image is from 2018. The cloud forms only during spring and summer seasons and then only during morning hours. Made of water-ice, the most familiar process that causes cloud crystals to form around bits of dust would fail due to the thinness and lack of dust high in the Martian atmosphere. Leading speculation holds that dust is not involved. After the cloud forms near the volcano Arsia Mons, wind blows the cloud downstream — creating a tail that can extend over 1500 kilometers. Efforts to better understand AMECs will continue, an understanding that may bolster a more complete view of cloud formation on Earth.

Oracle filed plans on Monday to issue new stock and more debt to finance its artificial intelligence buildout.

The hyperscaler will sell $10 billion in common stock and $10 billion in senior notes, according to filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission. While the fundraising was already outlined at an investor day last week, shares tumbled more than 4% Monday.

Oracle said it plans to use the proceeds for general corporate purposes, which may include capital expenditures, repayments of debt and future investments.

The hyperscaler’s stock initially bounced after last Wednesday’s investor day, when Oracle also issued a revenue forecast of at least $225 billion for fiscal 2030. Stock and bonds in Oracle, co-founded by former CEO Larry Ellison, have been under pressure amid growing investor concerns about the massive amount of debt being taken on to fund AI infrastructure.

Oracle shares are down 33% in 2026 and 50% over the past 12 months. The yield on its investment-grade 4.95% bond due in 2031 is currently 7.157%.

The sentiment shift is also seen in Oracle’s five-year credit default swaps, which are insurance against default. The spread sits at 296, up 270% in one year. That’s more in line with a high-end junk bond rating, according to S&P Global Market Intelligence’s Gavan Nolan.

While still an investment-grade credit, Oracle was downgraded by S&P to a BBB- in July, one rating level above high yield. It has $125.34 billion in debt, as of August 31, with the bulk in senior notes.

ATLANTA – Talks between Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi and his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, ended in a stalemate on Friday, with both sides refusing to budge.

Japan made the immediate release of a Hokkaido Shimbun reporter detained by Russia its top priority, but Moscow remained silent on the issue.Instead, Russia pressured Tokyo by demanding the lifting of sanctions as a condition for resuming dialogue.

The Japanese government plans to explore various diplomatic channels to secure the journalist’s release.

During the meeting, Motegi strongly pressed Lavrov for the reporter’s release, but Lavrov did not even explain Russia’s position on the detention. Some Japanese officials believethat Russia’s Foreign Ministry may have little say in the matter since the journalist was detained by the Federal Security Service, or FSB.

“The Russian Foreign Ministry cannot intervene,” a senior Japanese Foreign Ministry official said.

Lavrov, meanwhile, emphasized that Japan must “abandon its unfriendly policies,” a reference to sanctions against Russia. Russian President Vladimir Putin has also used the phrasing. Following Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, Moscow protested the sanctions by unilaterally suspending negotiations on a peace treaty with Japan, including talks over the disputed Northern Territories.

Japan, which has consistently supported Ukraine, remains unwilling in principle to lift its sanctions unless Russia takes certain steps, such as withdrawing its troops. Some Japanese government officials suspect that Moscow intends to use the journalist’s release as leverage for sanctions relief. Russia may be trying to “use the journalist’s release as a bargaining chip to get sanctions lifted,” a senior Foreign Ministry official said.

Russia has a history of detaining foreign nationals and using them as bargaining chips in diplomatic negotiations. During a telephone conversation in October, Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump reached an agreement on the supply of Russian-produced diesel fuel. The agreement was seen as effectively easing sanctions against Russia. Moscow subsequently released a former American teacher it had held since 2022.

Japan, however, has few diplomatic bargaining chips at its disposal. “We don’t know which channels might prove effective, so we have no choice but to pursue negotiations persistently through a wide range of channels,” a Japanese government official said.

Prime Minister Bart De Wever has sought to resign after coalition talks failed over cuts and taxes while military spending continues to rise

Belgium’s government has been pushed to the brink of collapse by a budget battle under EU spending rules. Prime Minister Bart De Wever submitted his resignation to King Philippe on Monday morning after negotiations on budget cuts failed over the weekend.

De Wever and his coalition partners have spent months arguing over roughly €10 billion ($11.2 billion) in cuts and additional revenue. Overnight talks ended without agreement, leaving the government struggling to meet Brussels’ demands while protecting public servicesand financing higher military expenditure.

The Royal Palace subsequently announced that King Philippe has postponed a decision on De Wever’s resignation and will begin consultations with the leaders of the governing parties starting Tuesday. The prime minister is due back at the palace on Friday.

Brussels demands savings as arms spending rises

De Wever’s request comes as the conservative, liberal, socialist, and centrist partners of his ruling coalition have consistently failed to agree on who should pay for repairing the country’s budget, which has been under EU supervision since 2024.

Belgium’s deficit reached 5.2% of GDP last year, against the EU’s 3% ceiling. Its debt has also climbed above 110% of GDP, far beyond the bloc’s 60% reference level, prompting Brussels to demand limits on spending growth and a correction by 2029.

Belgium is among several member states facing such proceedings, including France, Italy, and Poland.

De Wever and his liberal partners have proposed to resolve the crisis through spending cuts, including in healthcare, while socialist and centrist parties demand higher taxes on the wealthy instead. The prime minister has also warned of an “interest snowball” in which Belgium could end up having to take out new loans just to service existing debt.

Austria has launched an espionage investigation after two Ukrainian military intelligence operatives were detained in Vienna, the Austrian newspaper Kurier reported on Saturday.

The report comes after former Ukrainian Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko, who fled to Austria in September, alleged that a team had been sent to kill him on orders from Ukraine’s presidential office.

According to Kurier, the head of the Artan Group, a special operations unit within Ukraine’s military intelligence agency (HUR), was spotted at the Park Hyatt hotel in Vienna. The man, identified as Viktor T., reportedly told Austrian security officials that he was on vacation. The unit was originally established to carry out operations in Russia but has also been accused of involvement in plots to assassinate “Ukrainian defectors,” the newspaper said.

Kravchenko and Ukrainian media identified the Artan commander as Viktor Torkotyuk, known by his callsign Titan.

On October 5, Austrian police reportedly arrested two operatives under Torkotyuk’s command who were carrying surveillance equipment. Investigators initially believed that one of the men had rented a car in Vienna together with Yaroslav Bondarenko, a cameraman working with Ukrainska Pravda investigative journalist Mikhail Tkach. Subsequent findings, however, indicated that Bondarenko had been mistaken for someone else.

Tkach and Bondarenko were detained on October 8 and released the following day. Tkach said he had been trying to locate Kravchenko as part of a journalistic investigation and denied any wrongdoing.

The Vienna Public Prosecutor’s Office said the journalists had been detained because investigators suspected they were conducting surveillance at a location also monitored by the two men already in custody. Prosecutors later said the suspicion against the journalists could not be substantiated.

Kravchenko fled Ukraine after the country’s Western-backed anti-corruption agencies, NABU and SAPO, launched an investigation into allegations that his subordinates had protected fraudulent call centers. He accused anti-corruption investigators of abusing their powers and claimed the case was politically motivated. Both agencies rejected his allegations.

The former prosecutor general has also drawn parallels with a bombing in Monaco earlier this year that targeted Ukrainian businessman Vadim Yermolayev. The explosion injured Yermolayev, his teenage son and his partner.

Two men linked to Ukrainian intelligence, active-duty HUR officer Vladislav Reut and former Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) officer Vitaly Zhikovich, were subsequently arrested over the killing of Anastasia Berezovskaya, who was filmed planting the bomb in Monaco and later found shot dead in Ukraine.

In an October interview with the BBC, Zhikovich claimed that senior HUR officials had authorized the Monaco operation.

Moscow has long accused Kiev of carrying out terrorist attacks abroad. Following the Monaco bombing, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova argued that Western governments “could no longer control the monster they had created.”

Speaking to the New York Post’s Miranda Devine, Trump dismissed Democratic threats against Musk as political bluster but made clear he would intervene if they escalated.

“It won’t happen. It’s talk,” Trump said. “But if it is talk, we’ll have to protect them.”

Trump also said that he would consider preemptive pardons for administration officials and allies if Democrats attempted to prosecute them after he leaves office.

The comments follow weeks of escalating threats against Musk, whose companies include Tesla, SpaceX, Starlink and artificial intelligence giant xAI.

Democrats are already preparing major investigations into Musk and his businesses if they seize control of Congress in Tuesday’s midterm elections.

Various left-wing figures, including economist Paul Krugman and former Secretary of Labor Robert Reich, have suggested a Democratic administration should seize Musk’s companies.

Musk became a major target of the left after helping Trump launch the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) as well as his status as the Republican Party’s richest and most generous donor.

Trump has previously defended Musk against the threatened probes.

“Elon’s a brilliant guy,” Trump said last month. “We have to protect our brilliant people because we don’t have too many of them.”

Trump went on to describe Musk as one of America’s rare “geniuses,” arguing that protecting innovators is important to maintaining America’s technological dominance.

The region contains thousands of asteroids that move around the Sun along with Jupiter. Scientists hope that studying these asteroids will help them understand how the solar system formed and how its planets reached their present positions.

What Is The Jupiter Trojan Asteroid Region

The Jupiter Trojan asteroids are found in two large groups around special points in Jupiter's orbit called Lagrange points 4 and 5. These points are also known as L4 and L5.

The first group of asteroids travels ahead of Jupiter, near L4, while the second group follows behind the planet, near L5. Both groups are held in place by the combined gravitational pull of the Sun and Jupiter.

These asteroids are about 484 million miles away from Jupiter, which is nearly the same distance as Jupiter is from the Sun.

The asteroids are separated from each other by an average distance of more than 6 million miles. Because of this, they appear as tiny points of light against the background of stars when viewed from Lucy.

The spacecraft's first close encounter with a Trojan asteroid, Eurybates, is planned for August 11, 2027. Scientists are preparing the spacecraft, its instruments and the mission team for this meeting.

Lucy will spend a few hours studying Eurybates up close.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has announced the arrests of multiple convicted felons accused of illegally casting ballots in the 2026 election. According to an official press release issued Saturday, October 31,Paxton’s Election Integrity Unit launched an investigation after receiving a citizen complaint alleging that convicted felons who were incarcerated, on parole, or on probation had cast ballots in Harris County, Texas.

What investigators reportedly uncovered was serious enough to trigger arrest warrants. The Texas Department of Criminal Justice confirmed that multiple individuals were still on parole when they voted, making them ineligible under Texas election law.

And now, Paxton’s office says the investigation is far from over.

The investigation began October 27 after a concerned citizen submitted information suggesting that individuals legally prohibited from voting had participated in the 2026 election.

According to the attorney general’s office, investigators immediately began examining the allegations.

Analysts with the Election Integrity Unit reviewed voter registration records, verified the identities of the individuals involved, and determined whether ballots had been cast.

The findings were subsequently forwarded to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice to determine whether the individuals were legally eligible to vote.

State corrections officials confirmed that multiple individuals remained under parole supervision when their ballots were cast.

Under Texas law, individuals convicted of felonies generally cannot vote until they have completed their sentences, including applicable parole or probation, unless their voting rights have otherwise been restored.

On October 30, authorities obtained arrest warrants in Montgomery County. Officers from the Texas attorney general’s office subsequently took the identified suspects into custody.

The attorney general’s announcement did not disclose the precise number of arrests, the defendants’ identities, or the criminal charges filed against each individual. Paxton made clear that the arrests were only the latest development in his office’s ongoing crackdown on alleged election crimes.

In his October 31 statement, Paxton announced that his office had arrested convicted felons accused of unlawfully voting and confirmed that additional allegations remained under investigation.

He pledged to continue protecting the lawful votes of Texans. The announcement comes at a particularly sensitive moment, with the November 3 midterm elections just days away.

This is hardly the first time Paxton’s office has pursued allegations of illegal voting. As The Gateway Pundit previously reported, in September 2026, Paxton announced the arrests of seven foreign nationals accused of election-related offenses connected to the 2024 presidential election.

Last Wednesday, Judge David Carter denied the DOJ’s request for an order the California officials set aside mail ballots from alleged non-citizens on a list prepared by the Department of Homeland Security, and not count their votes until their citizenship is confirmed.

“This case is about the right of every American citizen to vote in a free and fair election,” Carter said in his ruling.

“Never before in American history has the federal government, on the eve of an election, sought to coerce a state and local government to abandon their own Constitutional elections procedures and bend to the will of the Executive Branch,” Carter wrote. “In bringing this lawsuit, the Executive would have this Court believe that it reigns as a sole sovereign. But California and its people are sovereign, too.”

The DOJ then appealed that ruling to the 9th Circuit, which denied the appeal.

The DOJ did not take that step when they unveiled the allegations against Floris and Benavides on Oct. 23.

Rather, despite the alleged misconduct taking place years earlier, prosecutors acquired a criminal complaint, which only requires a judge’s signature. Criminal complaints are often used to obtain arrest warrant in situations where prosecutors need to move quickly.

Faruqui had flagged that circumstance as unusual, and last week refused to sign off on a superseding complaint that added an obstruction charge against the two ex-officials.

“I’m concerned with your view as to what the law is,” the judge told the prosecutors in a hearing last Tuesday. “Why today, on this one case, have you changed the entire history of how you charge cases?”

President Donald Trump’s Department of Justice has sued Alaska, demanding the state not certify the election if the incumbent Republican loses.

Peltola has repeatedly denied any involvement with the second Sullivan. However, The New York Times reported last week that her campaign was directly involved with recruiting Dan J. Sullivan, a retired schoolteacher, to run as a spoiler.

Ballot-stacking is typically not illegal, and both parties have used it in past elections. Still, Alaska Gov. Mike Dunleavy ordered a criminal investigation into the alleged scheme. Alaska’s Supreme Court upheld Dan J. Sullivan’s place on the ballot during an earlier legal challenge.

Sullivan on CNN said that the Times report shows Peltola’s campaign, along with the Democratic Senate campaign arm, “recognizing they couldn’t run on their record, so they had to cheat.”

“I think a lot of Alaskans, even Democrats, are thinking she is not fit for office; she’s continually lying to the Alaskan people, and I guarantee you she’s lying right now,” Sullivan said.

Peltola denied any knowledge of the alleged scheme to draft a second Sullivan in an interview with KTUU on Friday.

“I honestly have no idea,” Peltola said. “This is offensive to me on a number of different levels; first of all, this is Alaska, we’re not in the business of tricking each other up here.”

“I’ve won statewide before, on my own merits, without any tricks involved; I know I can win again,” she said.

The stakes of the Alaska race are high. Democrats need to flip four seats while holding all currently Democratic seats to win a Senate majority. Alaska has emerged as a top opportunity for one of those flips.

The midterms will determine which party controls Congress for the remainder of Trump’s term in the White House.

Exclusive: NASA Astronaut Ellen Ochoa, the First Hispanic Woman in Space, is Getting Out the Vote

Ochoa and 100 others of her ilk in the nonpartisan Astronauts of America are helping preserve democracy in a variety of ways, including elections.

Ellen Ochoa has seen what few human beings ever have: a seemingly never-ending, vast universe from a perspective well beyond the world we call home.

But on Earth, she and hundreds of her fellow NASA astronauts are pushing to preserve something else: democracy.

Ochoa, the first Hispanic woman in space, is one of more than 100 astronauts who earlier this year joined Astronauts For America (AFA)—a nonpartisan organization aiming to affirm their commitment to the U.S. Constitution and principles of American constitutional democracy.

Tuesday's midterm elections are one piece of that larger effort.

Their "pledge" includes supporting what they describe as the foundational ideals of the nation—including equality, liberty, the pursuit of happiness, freedom of religion, freedom of speech, freedom of the press, the consent of the governed, the rule of law, and the separation of powers—and the shared responsibility of citizens to help preserve them.

That recognition of common aspirations and preserving such principles requires participation, responsibility, and a willingness to work together across differences, they say.

For those like Ochoa, who has reaped the benefits of being an American, she feels a duty to protect the "guardrails of democracy" that extend to neighbors talking to one another—or politicians reaching more across the aisle in one of the most polarized eras in U.S. history.

"It's really about supporting the values that we all took an oath to support when we went into government service, whether it was military or civilian," Ochoa, speaking from her Boise, Idaho, home, told Military.com. "I take those rights and responsibilities very seriously."

A Fight For Flight

Ochoa's journey from childhood to space admittedly "wasn't a straight line," and she compares that personal growth to her advocacy towards voting and democracy.

"Of course, for a long time, women didn't have the right to vote, and it wasn't until they got the right to vote that we were able to make changes in this country so that careers opened up," she said. "I was 11 when the Apollo 11 astronauts landed on the moon.

"But women weren't allowed to be astronauts. There weren't any astronauts of color. Nobody would have asked me at that point if I wanted to grow up and be an astronaut, or even a scientist, or an engineer, or a pilot."

When in high school, Ochoa took biology but no other science classes. She went to college thinking she'd major in music or business, but she developed an affinity for math.

Maybe most importantly, she was good at it and came to the realization that she could parlay her knowledge into a career path.

"Unfortunately, there was still a lot of, I would say, bias against women, and I'm also of a Hispanic background," Ochoa said.

"So when I went to talk to a professor in the electrical engineering department, it was clear he didn't want me in there at all, and told me he didn't think I'd be interested in what they did, and that it was a really difficult course of study.

"Fortunately, I talked to another professor in the physics department who was actually encouraging, and I ended up deciding to try physics and majored in it and minored in math.

And probably less than a year after I changed my major to physics [was] when NASA selected the first group of astronauts that included women and astronauts of color."

The co-pilot who was heard screaming for help in chilling audio shortly before her aircraft crashed in a huge fireball on Sunday has been identified.

Family members have confirmed to the New York Post that 20-year-old Nathalia Gadelha was the person in the audio, and one of nine people who lost their lives in the horrific crash.

The young woman grew up in Palm Beach County and was interviewed by local media after earning her private pilot’s license at 17 in October 2023. This was before she even had her driver’s license.

“I definitely do brag because people say, ‘oh you can’t drive,’ and I’m like, ‘yeah but I can fly,'” Gadelha told CBS12 in the 2023 interview.

“I like being different than everyone, so to me I think it’s cool that it’s not really an opportunity,” Gadelha added. “I just didn’t do it, and this is how it ended up. But I think it’s cool.

“Some people think that it’s weird that I can fly planes, but I can’t drive a car; I mean, I can, but a lot of people think it’s funny. I think it’s funny, and I now want my [driver’s] license really bad,” she added.

Gadelha, who was a West Boca Raton High School senior at the time, said she began pilot lessons in 2020 and was also taught by her father.

Gadelha graduated from American Flyers, an Addison, Texas-based flying school with a branch in Pompano Beach, Florida.

She wanted to become a commercial airline pilot one day.

As TGP’s Cassandra MacDonald reported, a $2 million Learjet 60 plunged from the sky in a high-speed dive on Sunday afternoon.

It slammed into a mobile home park in Greenacres, Palm Beach County, Florida, about nine miles from Mar-a-Lago.

The crash tore down power lines, left a large crater in the road, and erupted into a massive fireball that demolished at least one home.

Nine people were on board when it crashed. All have been confirmed dead.

The Learjet had departed from Austin, Texas, and was en route to the Bahamas before it crashed.

Rocket Lab launches Japanese Earth-observing satellite on 99th mission to date

Rocket Lab launched its 99th mission to date today (Nov. 2), sending a private Japanese Earth-observing satellite toward orbit.

An Electron rocket lifted off from Rocket Lab's New Zealand site today at 11:41 a.m. EST (1641 GMT; 5:41 a.m. on Nov. 3 local New Zealand time).

The mission, which Rocket Lab calls "The Sea God Surveys," is carrying an Earth-observing radar satellite to low Earth orbit (LEO) for the Japanese company iQPS. If all goes to plan, the spacecraft will be deployed at an altitude of 357 miles (575 kilometers).

"The Sea God Surveys" was Rocket Lab's 10th launch to date for iQPS, which is assembling a constellation of three dozen synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellites in LEO.

SAR satellites offer advantages over those that view our planet in optical wavelengths. They can peer through cloud cover, for example, and study our planet at night as well as during the day.

Today's launch was the 99th overall for Rocket Lab and the 90th for the two-stage, 59-foot-tall (18 meters) Electron, which gives small satellites dedicated rides to space. The workhorse vehicle has now flown 17 times this year.

Rocket Lab's other nine launches to date have been conducted by HASTE, a suborbital version of Electron that allows customers to test their tech in the hypersonic flight environment.

HASTE (short for "Hypersonic Accelerator Suborbital Test Electron") debuted in June 2023 and generally flies classified payloads.

Voyager Technologies Appoints Former Space Force Chief Chance Saltzman Chairman of Board of Advisors

Voyager Technologies (NYSE: VOYG) has appointed retired U.S. Space Force Gen. B. Chance Saltzman chairman of its Board of Advisors, adding a former senior military leader to support the company’s strategy across national security, defense and space markets.

Saltzman will provide strategic guidance on Voyager’s space and defense programs, customer requirements and emerging security threats as the company expands its capabilities for U.S. government and allied customers.

“As national security, defense and civil space continue to intersect, Gen. Saltzman is the perfect person to lead this effort,” said Matt Kuta, president of Voyager Technologies.

Saltzman previously served as the second chief of space operations for the U.S. Space Force, overseeing the organization, training and equipping of military space forces operating domestically and internationally.

In that position, he was a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and served as a senior military advisor on national security and space-related matters.

His military career included extensive experience in space operations, missile systems, strategic planning and defense leadership.

Saltzman earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Boston University and master’s degrees in public administration from the University of Montana and strategic management from George Washington University.

Mobile Mayor Spiro Cheriogotis and other City leaders discussed details of a fraudulent $14.7 million transfer tied to the Regions Arena construction. The transaction was one of a series.

The FBI and United States Secret Service are investigating. Cheriogotis and other leaders are meeting daily with federal partners.

“The amount of fraud in our country that is accomplished, much like it was in our case, has risen from about $4 billion every year in 2020 to $20.8 billion last year,” Cheriogotis said.

During a city council work session, finance director Logan Gewin, Jr. outlined when incidents occurred. He said regardless of human error, there was a lot of “circumstantial luck” to allow the fraud, and one of those was distraction caused by Hurricane Isaias.

Gewin said the initial communication with the fraudster occurred at the end of May. From there, City employees and the fraudster continued talking, including exchanging legitimate vendor information and false documents with changed payment information. Gewin said these communications created a false sense of trust.

“This conversation did eventually result in edits to our vendor information in our system,” Gewin explained. “Very importantly, it resulted in an invoice of the actual vendor that was provided to the false vendor. That is what helped establish legitimacy as this eventually worked its way up the chain.”

Gewin said false information went to the City’s banking partner, where the City requested the fraudulent payment on October 2. The vendor asked where their money was on October 7, and City officials began asking questions. The hurricane made landfall on October 8. The vendor didn’t check back with the City until October 13, according to Gewin. Cheriogotis and Gewin found out about the issue on October 16.

“There's no way to whitewash this and say it's not bad. It's bad,” Cheriogotis added. “This is terrible. It's a terrible reality that many Americans and American companies and other American cities are facing. We, through bad luck, happen to be facing it on a huge dollar amount. A huge dollar amount.”

Because of the previous recurring payments, Gewin said a process was established, leading City leaders to believe all checks and balances were in place.

“This is a regular monthly payment with an established process, an established cadence,” Gewin continued. “It's paid under the contract that the council approved last year. This has been working like clockwork for 18 months. There's nothing different about this payment except that the payment info had gotten changed behind it.”

Cheriogotis told the council the City had already made changes that would have prevented the fraud, but the scheme began back in May, before those changes were implemented.

“Transparency is our goal, but we do have to protect the City's interests,” Cheriogotis added. “And while there is blame to be shared on the City's behalf, I do think there are questions that need to be answered all around that we can't answer internally. So, it is not our desire to withhold any information, but for the City's best interest, there are things that we cannot fully delineate at this time.”

Going forward, the mayor identified two priorities to ensure protections and hold those responsible accountable. After the breach was identified, the City terminated one employee and placed two others on administrative leave.

“I really can't talk about the exact details of what led to at least one termination and two other employees being placed on leave, but what I want to ask the public to do is to direct their anger to the right place,” said Cheriogotis. “It's to the people who would engage in this kind of criminal scheme. It's to the people who would steal the life savings of your grandmother and my grandmother if they had the opportunity. Not good, decent people who make mistakes. Not good, decent public servants who may have not done everything that needed to be done. This was not an inside job.”

As for specific changes, for now, the City will only release in-person physical checks for any amount over $1 million.

China publicly discloses plan for a lunar landing within three years

The plan does not include a mission similar to Apollo 8 or Artemis II.

Chinese space officials confirmed this weekend that the Asian nation plans to land its astronauts on the Moon within three years.

At the Seventh Manned Spaceflight Conference in Beijing, officials, including Wang Xiang, chief designer for the lunar exploration program, laid out the country’s most publicly detailed plans yet for a series of missions leading up to a crewed lunar landing “before 2030.”

China’s lunar landings will involve a lunar-orbit rendezvous similar to what NASA did in the 1960s and early 1970s with the Apollo program.

However, lacking a rocket as powerful as the Saturn V vehicle, the crew and lunar lander will launch separately to the Moon.

According to slides shared on social media, the current plan involves:

An uncrewed test of the Long March 10A rocket (a single-stick variant, with no boosters) and the Mengzhou spacecraft to low-Earth orbit. Target: early 2027

An uncrewed test of the larger Long March 10 rocket (a core stage with two boosters) and the Lanyue lunar lander, including descent/ascent from Moon’s surface. Target: 2028

The public release of this new information provides a timeline for gauging China’s technical progress in its efforts to land humans on the Moon before 2030 and beat NASA and the United States back to the lunar surface.

Notably, the plan (for now, at least) omits a mission similar to Apollo 8 or Artemis II, which involved a crew flying out to the Moon and either entering orbit or passing close by before returning to Earth.

The Mengzhou vehicle should still get a workout closer to Earth with humans on board as part of missions carrying astronauts to Tiangong, China’s space station in low-Earth orbit.

China’s program has been largely opaque

NASA has set a target of landing humans on the Moon by 2028, a year or so ahead of China.

The United States, which has been working on the Space Launch System rocket for 15 years and the Orion spacecraft even longer, has a more established rocket and crew vehicle.

But there are major questions surrounding the development of a lunar lander, for which both SpaceX and Blue Origin have multibillion-dollar development contracts. Depending on how these projects go, a US lunar landing could be delayed to 2030 or even later.

Although it is virtually impossible for outsiders to glean information about technical milestones achieved inside China’s space program, the country is clearly making credible progress toward reaching the Moon.

For example, in August 2025, the China Manned Space Agency successfully tested a high-fidelity mock-up of its 26-ton Lanyue lunar lander.

The test used giant tethers to simulate lunar gravity as the vehicle fired its main engines and fine-control thrusters to land on a cratered surface and take off from a location near Beijing.

Recently, the Mengzhou spacecraft for the 2027 test atop a Long March 10A rocket arrived at the Wenchang Space Launch Site in Hainan, China, where the mission will launch.

US government assessments of the Chinese space program are restricted, but lawmakers are clearly taking the threat seriously. In the last 12 months, the US Congress and White House have given broad latitude to NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman to streamline the Artemis Program to land humans on the Moon. He has moved swiftly to cancel the Lunar Gateway space station and planned upgrades to the Space Launch System rocket.

And just last week, Isaacman announced plans to help Blue Origin develop a lunar lander by finding a way to boost the Orion spacecraft into low-lunar orbit.

“We have the mandate, we have the resources, and the support from our stakeholders to be able to execute, and that’s what we intend to do,” he said at the time.

For a couple of years, it has been clear that China has made a major commitment to landing astronauts on the Moon, preferably before the United States returns to the lunar surface, to score a major geopolitical win.

Beyond this near-term competition, both NASA and China’s space program are building capabilities to establish a long-term presence at the Moon’s South Pole.

As part of this second phase of the contest, Isaacman committed NASA to the development of a base on the surface of the Moon over the next decade.

SpaceX (SPCX) may be attempting an end run to circumvent obstacles it's facing in getting a mobile network off the ground.

Per the Washington Post, SpaceX is in talks with EchoStar (SATS) about launching its own wireless phone service through Boost Mobile, after the country's three biggest carriers — Verizon, AT&T (T), and T-Mobile (TMUS) — reportedly turned down SpaceX CEO Elon Musk.

Musk met with EchoStar chairman Charlie Ergen last month, according to two people familiar with the negotiations cited by the Post. The talks could end with SpaceX buying Boost Mobile outright or getting access to its network, which the discount carrier leases from AT&T and T-Mobile.

In recent months, Musk asked the heads of Verizon (VZ), AT&T and T-Mobile to let SpaceX use their networks for its own mobile service. All three said no, per the Post.

But there may be a catch to SpaceX's plan. Typically, a carrier's lease agreement can't be transferred to a new owner without the host carrier's permission, meaning AT&T and T-Mobile may still need to approve a Boost deal to provide access to SpaceX.

SpaceX is open about its ambitions in the terrestrial mobile space. On the company's recent earnings call, CFO Bret Johnsen said the goal is to "become a major mobile carrier ... in the United States." SpaceX also recently agreed to buy $8 billion worth of wireless spectrum licenses intended for cellular service in places satellites can't reach.

"This is the last critical piece of the spectrum puzzle needed for SpaceX to provide complete phone coverage in America," Musk said on X.

SpaceX and EchoStar already have a relationship. In September 2025, SpaceX agreed to buy EchoStar's AWS-4 and H-block spectrum licenses for about $17 billion, split between up to $8.5 billion in cash and up to $8.5 billion in SpaceX stock, EchoStar said at the time. SpaceX President Gwynne Shotwell said the deal would "advance our mission to end mobile dead zones."

What SpaceX still lacks is a ground network. Its satellite signal isn't strong enough yet to carry cell coverage indoors or in dense cities, where most phones are - and that's why a deal with Boost would be so crucial.

An MVNO (mobile virtual network operator) like Boost rents capacity on an existing carrier's network. Last month, TD Cowen's Gregory Williams called acquiring an MVNO the cheapest and fastest route for SpaceX to launch mobile service, noting a network build would cost "upwards of $80B" and take years.

The Big 3, he said, still show no desire "to (ever) sign an MVNO deal with Starlink that could ravage the industry."

Carrier executives have publicly doubted that SpaceX can rebuild their tower networks. Verizon's CEO put the build-out at four to six years. Musk said it would take about half that.

"Veterans of the cellular industry look at the chess board of existing pieces and don't see a solution," Musk said recently on X. "They don't understand that SpaceX is developing entirely new pieces that fundamentally alter the strategic landscape."

A reported US plan to restart Russian gas supplies to Europe through Ukraine is impossible under current conditions, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said.

He was responding to a Wall Street Journal report that Washington is pushing to revive the route as part of a proposed energy ceasefire between Moscow and Kiev.

Russian gas transit through Ukraine stopped on January 1, 2025, after Kiev refused to renew a five-year agreement with Moscow, cutting off a major supply route to Europe.

The EU in turn has sought to wean itself off Russian energy following the escalation of the Ukraine conflict in 2022.

“The situation on the ground speaks for itself,” Peskov told reporters on Monday, explaining that current circumstances make such plans impossible.

However, he did not rule out restoring supplies in the future. “We’ll see what happens in the future. Everything will depend on the willingness of buyers, the willingness of sellers and the capabilities of sellers,” he said.

Earlier on Monday, the WSJ reported that Washington was pushing for a swift resumption of Russian gas exports through Ukraine, citing American, European, and Ukrainian officials.

The plan may also hand US investors lucrative opportunities in the European energy market.

US envoys Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff floated the proposal during visits to Moscow and Kiev in September, according to the outlet.

The scheme would see Russian gas sold through a US intermediary, allowing supplies to resume despite European sanctions.

The Trump administration is seeking a deal to halt attacks on energy infrastructure ahead of planned trilateral peace talks between Russia, Ukraine, and the US in Abu Dhabi in November.

Under the proposed arrangement, Kiev would collect transit fees, while American investors would profit from handling Russian gas exports.

Washington is also weighing a revival of the Nord Stream pipelines as part of a broader settlement aimed at ending the Ukraine conflict and easing tensions between Moscow and Europe, the outlet said.

A senior US official reportedly argued that former German Chancellor Angela Merkel had made a mistake by pushing ahead with the project without first reaching a wider security agreement acceptable to Russia.

The twin pipelines, built to deliver Russian gas to Germany via the Baltic Sea, were bombed in September 2022.

European governments have reportedly shown interest in a deal that could sharply cut gas prices across the region. Washington believes Brussels may soften its opposition if Kiev backs the arrangement as part of a wider peace agreement, the outlet said.

The proposal, however, runs into the EU’s existing policy of halting Russian energy imports. The European Commission has rejected the idea of restoring large-scale gas purchases from Moscow, while Brussels plans to phase out Russian gas entirely by the end of 2027.

The push comes as European gas prices have hit their highest level in nearly four years, with depleted reserves raising fears of another winter energy crunch.

Gazprom CEO Aleksey Miller warned last week that prices could more than double to $2,500 per thousand cubic meters if the winter turns cold.

Moscow has repeatedly accused Brussels of damaging its own economy by rejecting Russian energy.

President Vladimir Putin said Europe was “dealing a blow to its own policies, industry and social sector.” He added that gas deliveries through the surviving Nord Stream 2 pipeline could resume at the “press of a button.”

Russia has also pushed back against proposals for a temporary energy truce with Ukraine.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov reiterated in October that Moscow’s position remained unchanged, stressing that Russia seeks a lasting peace rather than a ceasefire.

ISAC technology adds detection ability to existing cell networks, enabling them to track low-flying small drones

Ericsson is bringing drone detection to mobile networks, analyzing radio signal reflections to identify and track low-altitude objects.

The telecoms infrastructure maker says its Integrated Sensing and Communication (ISAC) tech adds detection to existing mobile networks, closing a security gap in tracking low-flying, fast-moving objects such as drones.

Following tests over the past few months, Ericsson says it will introduce the tech commercially in phases. Small-scale, sensing-only pilots with selected customers will start in 2027, followed by broader deployments from 2028.

CCS Insight research director Ian Fogg, said told The Register:

"While sensing can be used for other things — like tracking boats in a port, traffic patterns or weather conditions — drone detection [in civilian areas] is the most pressing need which cannot easily be solved using other technologies.

"Mobile networks are useful as drone detection solutions because their antennas are already covering low elevations, close to ground level where drones often fly, unlike traditional radar."

Although it is possible to use 5G networks for sensing, a standards-based 6G method could improve precision by letting different suppliers' base stations

"interoperate", alongside a mix of client devices, tracking the "smallest and fastest moving drones in difficult environments," Fogg added.

"The new spectrum that should arrive with 6G will also make it easier to deploy sensing on wide channels which further improves detection accuracy," he said.

Small, low-cost drones have emerged as a persistent threat, or at the very least a nuisance, closing down airports due to safety concerns - the latest incident was at Jersey Airport over the Halloween weekend.

Drone activity has also been on the increase near to military bases and other sensitive sites.

Dedicated sensor systems were deployed to cover sensitive sites, and in the UK, military personnel have now been granted the authority to neutralize any unwanted flying intruders.

Scaling detection across larger areas, however, is more challenging, Ericsson said.

ISAC transforms mobile network infrastructure into a distributed sensor array.

Using sensing-enabled 5G radios, edge computing and signal processing, a cell deployment can detect objects and track them across the coverage area, complementing radar and other sensors rather than replacing them.

Ericsson says the tech works by having multiple perspectives from a number of cell tower radio sites. When one transmits a signal, it reflects off the drone and is picked up by multiple receiving sites.

The network then analyses the reflected signals to locate the drone and track it.

ISAC requires sensing-capable radio hardware, dedicated compute resources, and software, says Ericsson. The radios have to meet specific Massive MIMO (multiple-in, multiple-out) antenna and spectrum requirements.

AT&T tested ISAC at trials in Arlington, Texas, and with Erillisverkot, a state-owned special purpose company responsible for national critical communications in Finland.

In both cases, the tech demonstrated it was able to detect multiple drones and track their movements, according to Ericsson.

Data from ISAC - we're told - can be securely shared through standardized interfaces with authorized external systems, including security and command and control systems.

How Adam Robinson Bootstrapped Retention.com to $25M ARR and $14M in Annual Profit With Six People

TL;DR: Retention.com identifies anonymous visitors to a website and resolves them into deliverable email addresses, so e-commerce brands can add them to their marketing list and recover abandoned carts. It was founded by Adam Robinson and launched as GetEmails on November 9, 2019, then renamed Retention.com in 2022. Robinson has taken no venture capital at all. On the show he said the business was on track for about $14 million in profit that year, on revenue public trackers put at roughly $21–25 million ARR, run by a team that stayed at six people from launch through $12 million ARR. He has since built RB2B, the same identity technology sold to B2B sales teams, which he described as approaching $5 million ARR with five people in 12 months. What does Retention.com do?

If someone lands on your site and leaves without filling in a form, you normally have nothing. Retention.com gives you an email address for that person.

The mechanism runs on the identifiers the ad ecosystem already uses.

The product resolves that identifier back to a real person, then does additional work to confirm the address is safe to send to. Robinson is direct about the legal boundary: this is legal in the US and not in Europe, because GDPR requires first-party opt-in for data collection.

The reason it sells is that it attacks the single biggest problem in email marketing — list decay — and the benefit scales with the size of the store while the price does not.

Key stat: the first paid launch was a $5,000 Facebook ad spend that produced $10,000 in monthly recurring revenue in week one. For comparison, Robinson says the same $5,000 spent on his previous email product would not have produced $50 in MRR.

Who founded Retention.com?

Adam Robinson, a former trader, founded it after years stuck on a company that would not grow. His first startup, an email newsletter tool, got to $3 million ARR, was cash flow positive, and then stopped.

He had watched MailChimp flatten the entire email marketing category with a free tier, and he was looking for a way in. The unlock came from a conversation at a trade show with someone from Litmus, who told him to stop chasing his competitors' feature lists.

The build was deliberately cheap. Robinson took screenshots of Drift's entire onboarding flow, had a freelancer on Upwork turn them into Photoshop files, another turn those into HTML, and made a basic dashboard with a "download your contacts here" button. His CTO built a working backend with MailChimp and Klaviyo integrations in 12 weeks. The launch video was a $1,000 word-art animation, recorded on his iPhone, scratchy audio included — still on the Retention.com site.

How much has Retention.com raised?

Zero. Retention.com has raised no outside funding and Robinson has taken no dilution. He has now bootstrapped three SaaS companies past $1 million ARR — Robly, Retention.com and RB2B — and public accounts of his time-to-$1M put Robly at 17 months, Retention.com at 27 weeks and RB2B at 16 weeks, as of September 2026.

Multiple People Killed in Moss Landing Beach Shooting

Multiple people are dead and others are hurt after a shooting on the California coast, and authorities still aren't saying how many.

The Monterey County Sheriff's Office says the shooting happened just after midnight on November 2, 2026, along Jetty Road in Moss Landing, next to Moss Landing State Beach. In a statement released at 8:30 a.m. Pacific, the Sheriff's Office said, "There are multiple fatalities and casualties confirmed."

Deputies and detectives are on scene. California State Parks Police closed Jetty Road and Moss Landing State Beach at the Sheriff's Office's request. The Sheriff's Office says there is no active threat to the community.

That's all we officially know. No death toll, no names, no suspect and no motive have been released. The Sheriff's Office says this is an active investigation and that "no further information will be released at this time."

Moss Landing is a small unincorporated town on Monterey Bay, best known for whale watching, not mass shootings.
