Report: Engineers Discover Nationwide Cellular Network Connects Election Equipment and Gives Federal Government Access to Election Systems at Precinct Level

A growing majority of Americans know the 2020 election was fraudulent. Many analysts who have been studying election integrity have concluded that there had to be a two-way connection between local election electronics (electronic poll pads, tabulators, election management systems, voter databases, etc.) and a centralized data collection system responsible for monitoring and manipulating the election. Fingers have rightly been pointed at all-inclusive election management software, the Albert Sensor system, Scytl and Edison, and the Election Infrastructure Information Sharing and Analysis Center (EI-ISAC).

This incestuous collaboration between the Department of Homeland Security, the Election Assistance Commission, leftist/globalist funding, foreign companies, and their private partners, allowed for the real-time monitoring of all election data, and more importantly, the ability to change the results.

While experts could understand the functional capabilities of how these programs manipulate elections at the county and state levels, one area of mystery remained. Experts could not fully explain how systems within individual precincts which are supposedly “air-gapped” were adding votes in real-time – such as KnowInk poll pads in Texas that added hundreds of votes to the 2022 midterm election after the polls had closed. To accomplish election fraud at individual polling places, it is necessary to have an air-interface with the supposedly “air-gapped” equipment networked at the polling place.

A year-long research project led by an election integrity investigator from Utah, Sophie Anderson, and communications engineer, Dr. Charles Bernardin, has uncovered the mechanism that is being used to connect our election equipment at polling places across the nation. Anderson and Bernardin met while working together in several overlapping election integrity efforts. After submitting a countless number of public documents requests from multiple federal, state, and local governments, and working with other grassroots researchers, the team realized that the federal government has indeed created a nationwide network that is capable of collecting and changing real-time voting data at polling places across the country from a central location. The private network tool is called FirstNet, and like so many things that have proven detrimental to American liberty – it was sold as a tool to ensure public safety.

WHAT IS FIRSTNET?

The idea of a national cellular network dedicated to public safety was hatched in the wake of 9/11 when congested cell networks proved to be a bottleneck for first responders. In 2012, Congress created the First Responder Network Authority under the Department of Commerce to oversee the build-out of “FirstNet.” The original intent provided by its sponsors was that FirstNet would serve police, fire, and EMT services. However, the scope was soon expanded to include all “critical infrastructure” – which included water, energy, and transportation infrastructure. Curiously, just days before Barack Obama left office, his administration’s Department of Homeland Security used the specter of “Russian interference” in the 2016 election as an excuse to declare election systems to be a part of that critical infrastructure. As a result, the stage was set to roll election systems into FirstNet.

The original plan to build FirstNet was to create a separate network with nationwide coverage that used a dedicated cellular band portion known as Band 14. Years and billions of dollars later, AT&T had built out the FirstNet Band 14 network with the coverage shown in the map below.

Biden Admin Releases Diversity Guidance for Colleges After Supreme Court’s Affirmative Action Ruling

President Joe Biden’s administration is circulating new guidance for how colleges and universities can promote diversity after a recent U.S. Supreme Court decision striking down race-based affirmative action admission policies.

In June, the Supreme Court ruled in the case of Students for Fair Admissions (SFFA) v. Harvard that race-based affirmative action at colleges and universities is unconstitutional. President Biden was quick to register his disagreement with the court’s decision.

On Monday, Associate Attorney General Vanita Gupta announced the Department of Justice and Department of Education would begin circulating a cover letter and Q&A document (pdf) that instructs institutions of higher education on how they can still factor race into their admissions policies.

While the decision in SFFA v. Harvard bans colleges and universities from using an applicant’s race as a direct factor in their admissions policies, the new DOJ-DOE guidance describes certain scenarios where an applicant’s racial or ethnic background could still come up.

Federal Guidance

The Q&A document states that “universities may continue to embrace appropriate considerations through holistic application-review processes and (for example) provide opportunities to assess how applicants’ individual backgrounds and attributes—including those related to their race, experiences of racial discrimination, or the racial composition of their neighborhoods and schools—position them to contribute to campus in unique ways.”

The guidance document described specific permissible admissions scenarios, such as a university considering an application that describes what it meant for the applicant “to become the first black violinist in their city’s youth orchestra,” or “how an applicant conquered her feelings of isolation as a Latina student at an overwhelmingly white high school to join the debate team.”

The DOJ-DOE document further stated that colleges and universities may use admissions practices that consider “the full range of circumstances a student has faced in achieving their accomplishments, including financial means and broader socioeconomic status; information about the applicant’s neighborhood and high school; and experiences of adversity, including racial discrimination.”

The DOJ-DOE document also states that the Supreme Court decision “does not require institutions to ignore race” in their recruiting and outreach programs, “provided that their outreach and recruitment programs do not provide targeted groups of prospective students preference in the admissions process, and provided that all students—whether part of a specifically targeted group or not—enjoy the same opportunity to apply and compete for admission.”

The document goes so far as to say colleges and universities “may direct outreach and recruitment efforts toward schools and school districts that serve predominantly students of color and students of limited financial means.”

Massive crowds gathered as President Trump visited the Iowa Pork Producers Association, before visiting the Animal Learning Center building, surrounded by fired-up supporters wearing ‘Farmers for Trump’ gear.

The Steer N' Stein restaurant was packed with Trump supporters eager to hear from President Trump.

"We’ll be back. We aren’t taking any chances. We’re way up in the polls in Iowa, and all over the country,” President Trump said. “We love you very much. Just take care of yourselves and stay healthy. And you know what, stay strong. You have to stay strong!”

Afterwards, President Trump spent over $20,000 on food that was donated to fair attendees.

“So to all my friends in Iowa when you see them come for this man, know that they are coming for this movement, and they are coming for all of us,” said Congressman Matt Gaetz.

Australia’s cyber spy agency has been drawn into the widening KPMG scandal after awarding a $46 million contract to the consulting giant despite knowing it had inside information it could exploit from an earlier stage of the project.

The lucrative work for the Australian Signals Directorate on the multi-billion-dollar REDSPICE program was won following a competitive tender, with the contract details quietly published on Friday.

Last week the firm was awarded a total of 18 federal government contracts worth almost $70 million, including $21 million in work with the Department of Defence.

KPMG is under pressure after the ABC's Four Corners program revealed whistleblower claims that it had ripped off taxpayers by submitting inflated invoices and billed Defence for work never done.

Over recent years, KPMG has dominated the defence and national security space in Canberra, but its latest contract win has been controversial as the firm helped design the ASD project and was then allowed to bid for its implementation.

This is known in consulting circles as "marking your own homework", as KPMG would have gained intimate knowledge of what the ASD upgrade required, having spent the previous two years helping the agency design the project.

A recent Auditor-General report revealed probity advice to the government that said incumbent consultants had an "unfair advantage" in this situation, as they had "access to inside information" and there was, at the very least, a "perceived conflict of interest".

Deloitte was excluded in 2020 from bidding on a Home Affairs contract, after earlier advising the department on the same project.

The retired congressman has slammed the US president for backing a “losing war” as Maui burns

President Joe Biden is demanding another $24 billion for Ukraine while the US “disintegrates,” former Texas congressman Ron Paul wrote on Monday, pointing out the unprecedented devastation from the Hawaii fires.

It’s “hard to look at recent footage of the devastation in Maui and then hear President Biden tell Congress that he needs another $24 billion for Ukraine,” Paul said. “How can this Administration continue to justify tens of billions of dollars for this losing war that is not in our interest while the rest of the United States disintegrates?”

The US has poured “well over $120 billion”into the “proxy war on Russia,” Paul added. He cited a Heritage Foundation analysis that calculated this comes out to $900 from each and every US household, at a time when most Americans say they can’t afford a $1,000 emergency.

“How many Americans would rather have those $900 dollars back in their pocket rather than in the pockets of Lockheed-Martin, Raytheon, and Ukraine’s oligarchs?” Paul asked, noting that even the establishment media is now admitting that “Ukraine is not winning and cannot win.”

“Continuing to pour money into a losing cause will just result in bankruptcy at home and more dead Ukrainians overseas,” Paul concluded.

The Texas physician served in Congress for a total of 23 years and ran for president three times – as a Libertarian in 1988, and in Republican primaries in 2008 and 2012 – before retiring in 2013 to found the Ron Paul Institute for Peace and Prosperity.

Multiple fires broke out in Hawaii last week, devastating the island of Maui and practically destroying the historic town of Lahaina. As of Sunday, the death toll was reported at 96, with at least 1,000 more people still missing.

“This is the largest natural disaster we’ve ever experienced,” Hawaii Governor Josh Green said at a news conference on Sunday. Damages to homes alone were estimated at $6 billion.

Biden spent the weekend on the beach in Rehoboth, Delaware. He said “no comment”when asked about Maui. White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre on Monday confirmed there were no plans for the president to visit Hawaii.

Last week, Biden sent Congress a request for $13 billion in “security assistance” and $7.3 billion for “economic and humanitarian assistance” for Ukraine, which has included paying the salaries of government employees in Kiev.

‘Special Counsel’ David Weiss Makes $5 Million Biden-China Scheme Disappear

Weiss has known about this evidence for years but has yet to file charges because that would have preserved the case.

Remember Hunter Biden’s extortionate WhatsApp message to his Chinese business associate, Henry Zhao? The news we just learned about in June because Gary Shapley, an IRS whistleblower agent, shone a light on it. The message spun up Congress and much of the public and even stirred the press out of its slumber for a moment because it undeniably implicated President Biden.

Well, guess whom the message failed to stir. That would be none other than newly minted “special counsel” David Weiss, the prosecutor who has supposedly been investigating Hunter Biden — and thus the Biden family influence-peddling business, the primary source of income for the president’s son — since 2018. Weiss, of course, is the Delaware U.S. attorney. Biden Attorney General Merrick Garland never tires of pointing out that he is a Trump appointee. However, Weiss was confirmed and appointed in Democrat-dominated Delaware only because of strong support by the state’s two Democratic senators, Biden allies Chris Coons and Tom Carper.

Initially, Weiss used the pendency of the 2020 election as an excuse to take no meaningful action on the investigation. Once Joe Biden won the presidency and installed Weiss’s boss, Garland, at the Justice Department helm, Weiss dutifully buried the Biden investigation by not seeking an indictment from the grand jury. As every prosecutor knows, the statutory time limit for filing criminal charges (the statute of limitations) runs out if charges are not formally filed. If a prosecutor drags his feet for years, crimes that have not been charged become time-barred — i.e., no longer prosecutable. ...

Reuters first reported that the document had been filed, then had to update its report when the document was removed from the court website and the office of Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis denied that an indictment had yet been issued.

As previously reported at The Gateway Pundit – Democrat operatives were caught in October 2020 in Muskegon, Michigan, a city of 38,000, dropping off 8,000 to 10,000 fraudulent voter registrations in a single drop. Many with the same handwriting and fake addresses. Police investigated (report attached) and found guns with silencers, burner phones, rental cars, and temporary businesses where registrations were stored. (Copy of Report) All of these efforts were funded by Democrat campaigns to GBI Strategies. The firm in Muskegon was not only filling in bogus registrations by the thousand but they were also sending packages of registrations to nearby communities.

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - While the nation awaits the results of her office’s more-than-two-year investigation into alleged attempts by former President Donald Trump and his allies to overturn Georgia’s 2020 election results, Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis has launched a new fundraising website.

On Thursday, Willis sent out an email to her supporters. “Friend, we wanted you to know first that our new website is up and ready for you to share with your friends and family,” it said. “Sign up to volunteer, host an event, and continue to support the team! Thank you for your continued support to build a brighter future for Fulton County. With gratitude, Team Fani.”

Willis’ team launched the website as a Fulton County grand jury continues weighing whether to level charges or indictments against the nation’s 45th president.

Trump himself has charged Willis with using her investigation as a means of fundraising. Earlier this week in a speech to New Hampshire reporters, Trump launched a blistering attack on the first-term DA whom he has also accused in the past as conducting a witch hunt against him.

“I probably have another one,” Trump said Tuesday night of perhaps the pending Fulton County indictment. “They say there’s a young woman, a young racist in Atlanta. And they say, I guess they say, she was after a certain gang and she ended up having an affair with the head of the gang or a gang member. And this is a person that wants to indict me, she’s got a lot of problems. But she wants to indict me to try to run for some other office.”

Trump was apparently referring to Willis’ prosecution of rapper Young Thug and his alleged gang, YSL. Young Thug (real name Jeffery Williams) is facing a number of organized crime-related charges in Fulton County.

Last week, Trump’s 2024 campaign released an online ad featuring Willis, Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg and U.S. Department of Justice special counsel Jack Smith, all three of whom have launched investigations into the former president. The ad has been airing on television in Washington, D.C., New York, Atlanta and on national cable.

In an email Willis sent to her staff on Wednesday, Willis addressed the former president’s accusations and the campaign ad.

“Many of you are quite kind to me, very protective, and will become very defensive if someone attempts to attack me, the office, or your colleagues,” the email said. “You may not comment in any way on the ad or any of the negativity that may be expressed against me, your colleagues, this office in coming days, weeks or months.

“We have a job to do. In this office, we prosecute based on the facts and the law. The law is non-partisan. You should feel no need to defend me.”

In her Wednesday email, Willis reminded her staff that her office prosecutes “based on the facts and the law” and “this is business, it will never be personal.”

Earlier this year, Willis said she was planning to make a “historical decision” this summer regarding her investigation.

A special grand jury with subpoena power was seated in Fulton County May 2022. In court filings, Willis alleged “a multi-state, coordinated plan by the Trump campaign to influence the results of the November 2020 election in Georgia and elsewhere,” a contest that eventually saw Joe Biden become the first Democrat to win Georgia since Bill Clinton in 1992.

Trump had zeroed in on the county after he lost Georgia by a slim margin in the November 2020 general election. In phone calls to state election officials and in public comments, Trump made claims of widespread election fraud in Fulton.

Willis, a Democrat, has been eyeing conspiracy and racketeering charges, which would allow her to bring a case against multiple defendants. Her wide-ranging criminal probe focuses on efforts to pressure election officials, the plot to put forward fake electors and a voting systems breach in rural Coffee County, Georgia.

Fulton County prosecutors are preparing sprawling racketeering charges against Trump over his effort to challenge the 2020 election in Georgia.

Fani Willis based her investigation on President Trump’s call with Georgia officials that was later doctored and leaked to the fake news outlet Washington Post. The WaPo published a completely fraudulent text of the call. These phony charges have already been debunked by The Gateway Pundit and others.

Since the racketeering statute in Georgia requires prosecutors to show a pattern of activity on at least two “qualifying” crimes, Fani Willis’s team will pursue the indictment on statutes related to “influencing witnesses and computer trespass.” – The Guardian recently reported.

The exact evidence is unclear, however, the computer trespass charge is related to efforts to access and examine the Dominion Voting Systems machines in Coffee County.

The ‘influencing witness’ charge may be related to Trump’s phone call with Brad Raffensperger.

The Gateway Pundit reported on Lepanto Institute’s 64-page report on CommonSpirit Health that shows transgender surgeries for minors and other “gender-affirming” care services being provided, including hormone therapies puberty blockers.

Red State University Reverses Course On Shuttering 'Diversity, Equity And Inclusion' Offices, Despite State Law

The University of Houston has backtracked on shutting down its diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) and LGBTQ Resource Center following signage being posted saying they would be shut down, the university told the Daily Caller News Foundation.

Republican Texas Governor Greg Abbott signed Senate Bill 17 in May, which prohibits DEI offices and preferential treatment of individuals based on race, ethnicity, gender and sexual orientation at public universities and colleges. Universities around the state then began shutting down DEI offices and race-based programs that may violate the policy, but the University of Houston reversed course on the decision to do so, saying it planned to find a way to continue keeping its campus diverse.

“The signage outside the DEI and LGBTQ offices was premature and posted without the full consultation and communication process we pride ourselves on. We understand the importance of keeping our community informed and will have details to share in the coming weeks,” Shawn Lindsey, associate vice chancellor and associate vice president media relations, told the DCNF.

Numerous states have filed legislation attempting to eliminate DEI practices. States such as Florida and Texas have already enacted DEI bans, and many other states, such as Iowa, Missouri and Arizona are considering such legislation.

“The UH System is in the process of creating a full implementation plan, which will be presented to the UH System Board of Regents later this month. As the policy takes shape, we will provide clear guidelines and resources to support our community through this transition. We value the academic, social and broader community benefits that arise from diverse campuses and our commitment to our entire university community has not changed,” Lindsey said.

“We will continue to work with impacted units to ensure compliance while maintaining our focus on student success. Both offices are still operating. The Center for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion has moved suites,” Lindsey said.

Abbott did not immediately respond to the DCNF’s request for comment.

Navy Chief Retires, Leaves Third Military Branch Without Confirmed Leader Amid Tuberville Abortion Hold

The U.S. Navy is now the third military service without a Senate-confirmed chief of staff as an impasse over the military's abortion policies continues to delay the confirmation process.

On Monday, Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Mike Gilday retired from the service, stepping down from his role as the top officer for the service. With Adm. Gilday's retirement, the Navy has one more opening to be filled.

Last month, President Joe Biden nominated Adm. Lisa Franchetti to replace Adm. Gilday as the Chief of Naval Operations. Adm. Franchetti took over for Adm. Gilday on Monday, but only in an acting capacity. If confirmed, she would be the first woman to serve as Chief of Naval Operations and the first woman to serve on the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

It's unclear when Adm. Franchetti's nomination may come to a vote. The Senate typically confirms military nominations in large batches through unanimous consent procedures, but Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.) has placed a hold on the process, preventing nominations from proceeding in such a way.

For months, Mr. Tuberville has kept up the hold in protest of a Department of Defense (DOD) policy that funds travel and leave for military service members who want to get an abortion.

Current federal laws codified under the Hyde Amendment prohibit federal funds from going toward abortions, except in cases where a pregnancy threatens the life of the mother or a pregnancy comes about as a result of rape or incest. The DOD contends that its policy of supporting abortion-related travel is distinct enough to skirt the Hyde Amendment rules, but Mr. Tuberville insists otherwise and has vowed to maintain his hold until the DOD retracts the policy or Congress acts to change the laws.

While Mr. Tuberville's hold on the nomination process prevents large-batch confirmations of military nominees, the Senate can still confirm nominees through its normal procedural rules, but this makes for a slower process. ...

Russian military reports destruction of Spanish-made mortar in Ukraine

A 120mm ‘Alakran’ (Scorpion) was among the equipment struck for the first time by Moscow’s forces

The Russian Defense Ministry’s daily briefing has listed a Spanish-made 120mm heavy mortar as among the military equipment destroyed in the conflict with Ukraine. It is believed to be the first time that hardware of this type has been taken out by Moscow’s forces during the hostilities.

According to the ministry, the mortar was destroyed as Russian forces targeted Ukrainian troop positions in Kherson Region. The strike also resulted in three Ukrainian military vehicles being destroyed and up to 30 soldiers being killed.

Developed by Spanish company NTGS in the 2010s, the truck-mounted ‘Alakran’ (Scorpion) heavy mortar can rapidly change positions if needed. It is touted on the NTGS website as “a combat-proven system that is continually upgraded,” and the company notes that the 120mm barrels it produces “are specially designed to be used with the ALAKRAN system.”

The mortar itself is capable of hitting targets at a distance of over 7km, and can reportedly fire a total of 12 shells in the first minute after taking position. It is typically said to fire four shells per minute.

Russian military correspondent Yury Kotenok previously published a video purporting to show the destruction of the Spanish-made mortar. The short clip first shows a truck with the weapon system mounted on it standing on a dirt road passing through a field. The black-and-white footage then appears to show the truck being struck by a guided missile, before the video ends with images of the charred wreckage of the vehicle, apparently filmed from a drone.

The news comes as Russian forces continue to repel Ukrainian attacks on several sections of the front. Kiev launched its much-touted counteroffensive in early June, but according to Moscow it has failed to make any tangible gains since it began.

In Donbass alone, almost a dozen unsuccessful Ukrainian attacks have resulted in Kiev losing more than 500 soldiers as well as dozens of pieces of heavy military equipment over the past 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry said. The list of Ukrainian equipment losses included a German-made self-propelled howitzer PzH 2000, two Polish ‘Krab’ artillery pieces, and two US-made M777 howitzers, the report said.

Earlier on Monday, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu questioned the quality of Western weapons being supplied to Kiev. Arms provided by Washington and its allies have “turned out to be far from flawless in reality,” the minister said at the opening ceremony of the annual Army 2023 military-technical forum in Moscow Region.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the Ukrainian military has lost 43,000 soldiers and some 5,000 pieces of heavy equipment in largely unsuccessful attempts to break through Russian defenses since the start of the counteroffensive.

Innovation BIS 2025 is the ambitious strategy we launched in financial year 2019/20.

The strategy helps us to meet the needs of our central bank stakeholders in these

times of rapid economic and technological change. It seeks to shape continuous

innovation on the analytical and business fronts.

We are now four years into Innovation BIS 2025, and substantial progress has been

made. In 2022/23, we marked the successful delivery of approximately 80% of the

strategy (see next page).

As we enter the final stretch of Innovation BIS 2025, we are sustaining our

momentum to complete the agenda and embedding the changes brought through

this ambitious development programme.

One of the most substantial projects in the programme is the Banking

transformation agenda. A key objective is to enhance product development and

related services. We have continued to expand the Bank’s asset management

services and have introduced a new series of instruments tied to the post-Libor

reference rates. This was supported by continuing upgrades of the Banking

Department’s trading and reporting systems, including this year’s implementation

of a new asset management system, which will allow faster product development

and an even more efficient delivery of Banking services in the future.

The BIS Innovation Hub entered a more mature phase, with six operational Hub

Centres, including the Eurosystem Centre, which opened in March 2023. During

the year, the Innovation Hub focused its work on six strategic themes: central bank

digital currency, green finance, regtech and suptech, next-generation financial

market infrastructures, open finance and cyber security. Its work programme

features growing interconnections between projects and cross-centre collaboration.

In addition to the development of our research, we made further progress on our

strategic goal of expanding the outreach of BIS statistics to a wider audience.

We developed a new data portal, leveraging new technologies to better guide data

discovery, enhance data access and enable analysis. We also established BIS Open

Tech to disseminate statistical and financial software as open source projects,

to foster collaboration and harmonisation within the global software communities.

It is my pleasure to present the BIS’s Annual Report for 2022/23. The report

highlights our commitment to global monetary and financial stability, and our

ongoing role as the global forum for central bank cooperation. It also documents

the progress made in advancing our Innovation BIS 2025 strategy.

The past year has challenged central banks. High inflation and financial stability

concerns emerged in tandem. At the same time, digital innovation, particularly in

payment systems, gathered pace.

The global inflation surge that began in 2021 has started to subside. But, in most

countries, inflation remains far too high. Much of the progress in lowering inflation

has come from easy wins, like falling commodity prices and normalising

supply chains. The “last mile” of returning inflation to target will be harder. Central

banks’ commitment to low inflation is clear. The past year saw the most rapid

and synchronised worldwide monetary policy tightening in decades.

Tighter monetary policy was necessary, but not painless. Business models that relied

on low-for-long interest rates felt the strain. Bank closures in early 2023 were the

most striking example, but far from the only ones. As the structural forces that held

down inflation in recent decades subside, interest rates may need to stay higher

for longer.

In the coming years, economies must rely on supply side reforms, rather

than monetary and fiscal stimulus, to drive sustainable growth.

The BIS helped central banks to navigate this complex policy landscape. Our economic

analysis shed light on inflation dynamics and the causes of financial instability.

And it made further progress in charting a course to build financial systems and

infrastructures fit for the challenges of tomorrow. Regular meetings held in the

context of the Basel Process fostered the exchange of views and experiences, while

BIS-hosted committees made significant headway on evaluating the effects of the

post-financial crisis reforms, and on proposals for mitigating risks arising from

cryptoassets, financial market infrastructures and climate change.

Investment in our Innovation BIS 2025 strategy continued to pay dividends.

The expansion of our Innovation Hub is almost complete, with the opening of the

Eurosystem Centre taking place in March 2023. Leveraging our ambition to be

at the forefront of thought leadership on innovation, we have expanded our insights

and research and delivered a number of projects on the development of public

goods to support central banks and improve the functioning of money and the

financial system.

For banking services, 2022/23 was another successful year. Despite volatile market

conditions, net profit increased to SDR 679 million by end-March 2023, while total

comprehensive income was SDR 414 million. Strong demand for liquid BIS banking

products as well as the Bank’s foreign exchange and gold services bolstered

profitability. Upgraded technological capabilities in our trading and reporting

systems provided an enhanced customer experience to our clients.

Our Representative Offices strengthened relationships with central banks in their

respective regions and helped to shape policy debates in Asia and the Americas.

We were pleased to mark our 20th anniversary in the Americas in November 2022.

Meanwhile, our Financial Stability Institute undertook a number of projects to

support international cooperation and collaboration in the areas of financial

technology, climate-related financial risks, crisis management and other regulatory

and supervisory-related issues.

We have put additional effort into improving the way we work. Taking on board the

lessons of the Covid-19 pandemic, we have explored new ways of working together

and sought to improve and expand our working space for the future. We have

also invested in our staff through expanded mentoring and leadership programmes

and taken further steps to promote a workforce that reflects the full diversity of

our membership. In December 2022, we announced the winning design from an

architecture competition to develop the BIS headquarters site in Basel. The new

building would create a campus-like environment and provide modern facilities to

accommodate the enlargement of global meetings and the growth in our activities.

It is the efforts of our staff and management that have laid the foundations

for this future expansion. Reviewing our progress over the past year, I am deeply

grateful to all our colleagues for their support, dedication and adaptability.

Zelensky tells Ukrainians to avoid bars and clubs

The Ukrainian president claimed “everyone is at war” and must be “working for victory”

President Vladimir Zelensky has criticized Ukrainian civilians for not showing enough solidarity with the soldiers risking their lives at the frontlines, and insisted that people's freedom and independence cannot be conquered by someone else.

“Ukraine is at war. And those who are not fighting on the frontline must help fight. Not in bars, not in clubs, not by street racing or some kind of ostentatious consumption, but by helping the warriors in a very specific way. To say the least of it,” Zelensky said on Monday in his nightly video address.

The president added that defeating Russia is a “common national cause” and Ukrainian fighters “deserve to see and feel” full support of rear cities.

“All the country's adrenaline, all the country's emotions, all the country's strength should be there – in the battles for the sake of the state,”he stated.

Zelensky made his comments after having toured several military units posted on the Donetsk front, including the notorious Neo-Nazi ‘Azov’ and ‘Aidar’, to boost morale and discuss other “important topics” such as how commanders can better manage and “motivate” their personnel.

Earlier this month, Zelensky acknowledged “revolting” corruption uncovered by an audit of the country’s military recruitment centers. The probe discovered a large-scale conspiracy stretching from Kiev to 11 other regions, in which fraudulent medical exemption certificates were sold to Ukrainian men seeking to avoid conscription into the military.

Kiev has drafted several waves of recruits into the military since the conflict with Russia began in February 2022. In late June, with tens of thousands of troops being killed in a foundering counteroffensive against Russian forces, recruitment centers in some regions stopped sending individual summons and instead issued blanket orders for all men of military age to report for duty.

Honolulu think tank Pacific Forum and the Australian Consulate hosted the event in which Rudd, a diplomat and politician who previously served twice as Australia’s prime minister, discussed his country’s foreign policies and issues in the Pacific. Rudd, who studied in Taiwan as a student and worked as a diplomat at Australia’s embassy in Beijing during the 1980s, acknowledged that tensions are high. But he pushed back on the notion that the U.S. and China are engaged in a new Cold War.

“This ain’t a Cold War, ” Rudd said. “The Cold War against the Soviet Union was daggers drawn everywhere with the nuclear arsenals primed, mutually assured destruction, proxy wars raging around the world, plus zero economic engagement.”

He noted that while Beijing is growing its nuclear arsenal and the U.S. and China are competing for influence around the globe, he argued that competition has been largely bloodless and that “the United States remains China’s largest trading partner and China remains a major trading partner of the United States. So for those reasons, we should be careful about using language which simply creates a trajectory for the future.”

He said that while U.S.-China relations “could degenerate in that direction, ” he doesn’t think “that’s an objective descriptor right now.”

American officials, including U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, have visited China recently in an effort to cool tensions between the two countries. U.S. climate envoy John Kerry visited Beijing this week in an effort to restart climate talks, while former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, who played a key role in establishing relations between the U.S. and China during the Cold War, met with Chinese Defense Minister Gen. Li Shangfu.

“We, like the United States, are seeking to stabilize our relationship with Beijing, ” Rudd said. “Obviously, there are vast differences in underpinning values and underpinning national interests, but we have been seeking for some time now to stabilize our relationship with Beijing to the extent that that’s possible.”

A major sticking point in that relationship has been the fate of Taiwan, a self-ruled island dem ­ocracy that Beijing considers a rogue province.

A visit to Taiwan last summer by then-House Speaker U.S. Rep. Nancy Pelosi drew swift condemnation from China, which cut off defense and climate talks with the U.S. in response. Since then, several other lawmakers from the U.S. and other countries, have visited Taiwan.

Rudd said that when he first went to Taiwan as a student, it was still a military dictatorship that had been established by exiled Chinese nationalists that lost the Chinese Civil War. Since then, the country has democratized and developed a high-tech economy. It’s currently a top producer of semiconductor chips that many companies rely on to make their products work, and is a key trade partner for the U.S. and Australia.

Rupert Murdoch is romancing Elena Zhukova, a retired Russian-American scientist, the Daily Mail reported on Monday. The two are currently cruising the Mediterranean with two of Murdoch’s daughters from a prior marriage, on a yacht once owned by the legendary Greek magnate Aristotle Onassis.

Zhukova, 66, is a retired molecular biologist and an authority on diabetes. She moved to the US in 1991, after divorcing her first husband. She was reportedly introduced to Murdoch, 92, by her daughter Dasha – a socialite formerly married to Russian businessman Roman Abramovich, and a friend of Murdoch’s third wife Wendi Deng.

“They met through Wendi and Dasha,” an unnamed source told the Mail.

Dasha, who has both Russian and American citizenship, was married to Abramovich between 2008 and 2018. She received a Manhattan mansion as part of the divorce. In 2019, she married the Greek shipping heir Stavros Niarchos II.

92-year-old Australian media mogul Murdoch has been married four times and has six children. He divorced Deng in 2013. OWINGS MILLS, Maryland - Former NFL running back Alex Collins, who played five seasons for the Seattle Seahawks and Baltimore Ravens after a terrific college career at Arkansas, has died. He was 28.

The Seahawks released a statement from Collins' family Monday night.
